Drinks far too expensive. Popped into local wetherspoons and look at these prices!!! If wetherspoons can do why not other big brewery's??

We were going to have a meal at The Ferrers Arms at Lount , but after seeing the menu changed our minds . It is far too expensive We had pint of pedigree and a white wine and it came to £11.65 . The wine was £7.25 Just couldn't believe it . Won't be coming back here in a hurry

I wasted a lot of time (and petrol) travelling to this much-hyped establishment. The Marstons’ Brewery website advertises it as pub and hotel. One can not simply pop in for a drink and one can not stay overnight. A pity as it’s a lovely building with great potential. False advertising?

Theyre lucky theyre even getting one star! We booked a table for 19:00 for my mothers birthday (who lives on the same street). We arrived just before 1900 and proceeded to wait 10 minutes.. while countless people were served ahead of us who had only just arrived. Eventually when we got served, the bar maid wandered off for 5 minutes, came back, ignored us and continued to serve other people. I then asked for the manager and the supervisor said he would help. He finished cleaning some glasses and chose to serve us. When he got to us it was 19:20 and we were really unhappy by this point and explained to the this guy why, he gave excuses, not solutions! At this point we chose to leave because if the service was going to continue to be this awful we were not prepared to pay for this!! To be treated like this and spoken to so rudely by staff is such a shame when we are so local. We would recommend to STAY AWAY from this restaurant!!

I was at the pub with my friend enroute Bush Craft survival training Weekend. The place was bubbling with life with loads of families, couples and friends. The meals are very nice although a bit pricey. The atmosphere and ambience in around the pub was very pleasant with plenty of seating areas inside and outside.

Most of my comments from last year still apply. Again we were put straight on a table after saying we wished to eat. I like to have a first drink at the bar. The 'Specials' board was still only visible from the bar, but this time I studied it before we were hurried away. There seemed to be only one member of staff serving and waiting-on but it was only 6.00 and, as yet not very busy. The service was polite and friendly. It took quite a long time for the food to arrive, but it was exactly as ordered, including a minor modification to one of the dishes. Having eaten we were permitted to move into the small lounge area, to have another drink in the comfort of an arm chair. A great improvement. The prices are still very reasonable and value for money. Despite my criticisms we go here moderately frequently and will go again I'm sure. I recommend The Albion for good pub food. Dave.

I went to the Ship inn to meet my friend, we had 2 for £10 scampi also Gammon with egg and pineapple, the lady who served me was very friendly and our food was very good. The lady also brought us 2 teas to finish off with. Our whole lunchtime was most enjoyable.

I booked xmas day dinner for my wife, sister and me. We arrived at the pub they showed us to our table and got our drinks, the table was set for 4 not 3 and we were twice asked if we were another booking under another name. We had booked for 1pm sitting, we sat there waiting and another table that came in after us got served. We asked where our starters were and were told on the way, 10 mins later asked again. Eventually got them, my wife and sisters were ok, I got 2 small triangles of cold toast, a small salad, a portion of pate and no butter. Disappointed, we waited for our mains, after an age asked where they were and were told being plated up. Waited 10 mins and asked again, was told the same thing. 10 mins later we got them. It was terrible, the sprouts, carrots and peas were hard and inedible, burnt parsnips, turkey ok, stuffing ball cold, a tiny pink sausage wrapped in fat with a tiny bit of bacon in it and hardly any gravy. Asked for more gravy twice and was given a small amount each time in a boat. The 2 tables next to us were complaining about the food also, the staff were visibly embarrassed, I think they knew it was terrible. we told them that we wanted our pudding fast and wasn't prepared to wait. Got them, cheese and biscuits ok (hard to get that wrong), but my wife and sis had bread and butter pud in what can only be described as child portion. We paid £135 for this disgusting meal, I have complained to the Marstons head office and they have told me they will get back to me soon. I await to see what happens, I want my money back. Will let you know what they say. DON'T GO HERE!

Booked for Christmas dinner this year 2014. £90 it cost me and my husband. What can I say but it was awful. Sprouts were like bullets, parsnips were burnt to a crisp and the turkey well it was ok but we only got 2 measley slices. Service was very slow, not at all Christmassy atmosphere, the only best thing about the meal was the matchstick pudding. Complete waste of money, we won't be going there ever again!

A blistering hot day and after a walk in the countryside we decided to visit The Horseshoe Tatenhill. One young barmaid served both customers stood at the bar and we waited patiently to get served. Sadly it was as if we not even there as she went straight to a new arrival and we were left standing like lemons still waiting. I would have preferred the lemon to have been in a gin and tonic but it was sadly not to be. We left without having a drink or anything to eat and went to a different pub.

The Horseshoe Tatenhill - Well what can I say it was awful. I know I have given this pub food a good rating before but no more. We called for lunch and had light bites - well 1 jacket potato with ham & cheese, potato raw on the outside and no taste in the cheese and ham what so ever & the Salad was limp with the edges of the iceberg lettuce brown. The other meal was a small fish & chips - fish flesh was brown and dry - so horrible that the staff member on duty came over to ask if everything was OK and before we could answer she looked at the fish meal and said no its not is it and immediately offered a refund. Another couple complained about the burnt potatoes on the roast dinner and the use of jam not fruit compote in the trifle. I advise you not to bother visiting this establishment if you do just have a drink.

We were regular diners at The Horseshoe but the last time we visited was on the "New Menu Taster Night". The food was awful e.g. a leathery mushroom for starter, a cardboard pizza with grated cheddar cheese on top which hadn't melted and a cheesecake in which I could definitely taste the E numbers. Such a shame - it used to be fantastic 2-3 years ago.

If you are on a narrowboat, Marston's Pub is a pleasant walk from your mooring on the Trent and Mersey Canal. The Pub can be crowded at times, but your meal will be worth the wait. The pub is understaffed right at lunchtime and inspite of their staff's industrious efforts; they cannot help but disappoint some guests. The menu is not your average pub fare, and it offers some unique dishes that are a nice change of pace. There is enough diversity on the menu to satisfy any appitite. We took advantage of their two for one lunch offer which is a great deal. This might be a great place to stop after the Marston Brewery tour just a few blocks away.

Pretty disappointed. Queued for 15min for hot drinks for an organised firework display. Lady on counter shouts down the very long queue she would only be serving for another 10min due to the fireworks starting shortly. Literally 2min later she announces she is finished. Understand there needs to be a cutoff, but basic time keeping and customer service would go a long way… incredibly a few minutes later after most of the queue has dispersed, including myself, she was serving again… Fireworks didn’t start when she was expecting I suppose, very very poor.

Usually a top place to eat. Cafe staff are exceptional as are most the staff there, with the exception of Mr Vest the store manager. But on this occasion there was a bird flying around the store. I didn't realise until id finished my coffee and cake. They were still selling food and beverage to be consumed on site with a bird in store.

My friends and I went tonight and we watched the man blow his nose and then touch our straws when making the milkshakes, another man emptied the bins and continued to make puddings without washing his hands, they used water only to clean their utensils. Didn’t help that it took ages for them to make! Utterly disgusting! Put us off our milkshakes so we ended up leaving them!!! Never go here unless you want to catch an illness !

Whilst in store after ordering 2 iced coffee’s we were handed our drinks without lids. My partner very politely asked if we could have lids for our drinks and the member of staff very rudely replied ‘if we had lids I would’ve put one on’. Being an assistant manager in retail I would be appalled if I heard any of my staff speaking to a customer like this.
