Lovely food, very welcoming, great pub much better than it was a year ago, I will definitely be making this an every week event, had the most lovely time, can’t wait till next week taking hubby there for his birthday 🤗🤗🤗❤️

Thought we would try going to marquis of Granby never been there for years its under new management we were the first ones in service was fast meal was very good I had the mixed grill very nice then i had a crumble again very nice would give it top marks

We will never go to the Marquis of Granby Esher again.We sat at a table and went to order our dinner at 8pm to be told there was no food tonight the chef was ill.It is supposed to be steak Thursday .We went lastThursday and there was no sirloin steak.I also ordered Eton Mes and it was served without meringue or fruit,It is terrible.A few weeks ago we went and same thing, no food,The staff are all very surly too.I keep receiving emails advertising your new menus and try our food.It is a joke.It must be the worst pub restaurant and wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Different type of review here, toilet seat had been broken in the gents toilets, mentioned this to James K on the bar, he immediately got Tim the manager who took a look at the damage, he made a call and within an hour a guy was here to replace it. Very impressed

The food was amazing and the service I got today was fabulous. The manager Tim was very kind and James was helpful. Gemma and Henry was the best and I have had the best time.

I went for a late lunch/early dinner with my husband and daughter. my husband had the beef bourguignon and he said it was delicious. My daughter and i both had Sunday roast which was very nice. We ate everything. Sticky toffee pudding was beautiful too. Very friendly staff there and we were told of upcoming nights/events. Would definitely return.

Been there on numerous occasions for both lunch, dinner and their monthly music night. Very nice polite warm and friendly people overall. Understanding of needs of senior citizens. Good food at reasonable prices. Divercity of customers and staff noticable, and overall a warm and safe enviornment to enjoy good good, drinks and company. Easy access and parking too. Recommened.

This is the second time I have been here recently. I wanted to give it another go to see if the second time was any better. Very few people were in for lunch whereas in the past the place would be buzzing with a very popular carvery, which sadly now has gone. There appears to be only one waitress running the whole restaurant. I can only describe the service as being rather like Faulty Towers. When I ordered garden peas, mixed vegetables arrived. I did not complain although I didn’t want carrots and inedible broccoli but when asked how everything was, I mentioned it. The reply was that the chef was being generous! We didn’t dare mention that the eggs with the gammon were hard. Having said that, the rest of the food was good and the price was reasonable.

I don’t know if Greene King are aware of what has happened here but this used to be a great place to have Sunday lunch, alas, no more. Despite sending an e-mail and phoning, we had to wait while the “manager” got our table ready as “ I hadn’t put it in the book” After waiting 15 mins for the table (despite the restaurant being very quiet) we were immediately informed there was a 40 minute wait for food. No one came for our order until I managed to get the attention of the manager who was dealing with another table, he then took our order. Some time later, with the restaurant still very quiet, our food appeared, the first order, a roast without potatoes but extra veg, came as extra potatoes and no veg. This was put right and the rest of the order appeared. Although the beef and turkey was ok the potatoes were anaemic and the veg, apart from the peas, was very hard. A guy appeared and took away our glasses without asking if we wanted more drinks. We then had to wait until he reappeared some time later, to clear other tables, to ask for our dessert order, this then took a long time to appear, the restaurant was by now even quieter. I asked for the bill when the dessert was brought, but then had to go in search of someone when we had finished, by this time we were the only table in our section. Considering the amount it cost, this was a completely unacceptable experience and, judging by how quiet it was at lunchtime on a Sunday many others have decided, like us, not to return.

Russell is an ace barman, Piccolo and Rhian are both amazing too. Food is good, lovely atmosphere, one of the best places on the A309. Quality boss.

I went to this pub with my husband and friend as it was my birthday and we had been many times before and had a good experience. We ordered our meal and 1 hour later we were still waiting for it. I was told the meals were on their way but another 15 minutes passed before they eventually arrived. We were told it was slow because they had a rush on but looking around we saw three tables occupied. We had a pie, a macaroni cheese and a lasagne. The lasagne was stone cold in the middle. We complained and although they offered to reheat it we declined and asked for a cheese sandwich instead. This came as a lump of mozzarella in a thick piece of focaccia bread, very unappetising. We then ordered coffees. The cappuccino was very weak and not drinkable. The Manager came to apologise. He refunded our meals and gave us a bottle of wine but as I explained this did not make up for our disappointment on a special day. The Manager said he would be sending me a voucher to return and enjoy a meal under his new management. I'm still waiting!!

Dropped into The Marquis last night after a long journey and thoroughly enjoyed a lovely dinner, tasty, hot and waited on by a charming Italian girl. Nice atmosphere and such a charming setting. A good break after a tiring day.

Walked here, with two village mates, from Hinchley Wood, on a Monday evening. Sorry to see that it was so very quiet, with only four others, in this vast sized pub/restaurant when we arrived. Service was very pleasant from Tomas, the Slovakian bar man, and special priced IPA at £2.79 was very good value.

We chose this pub for my wife's birthday as they had emailed me saying they had refurbished since my last visit. On arrival we were greeted by a pleasant young man who asked if we we dining, when we replied yes his face dropped and he recommended we make two choices each as there were some items not available, it was 2.00pm on a Thursday and we were the only customers apart from two ladies having coffee. My wife was lucky enough to obtain her first choice, I on the other hand couldn't have either my first or second choice as they had neither eggs or bacon, when I asked why someone couldn't pop to the co-op 100 yards away they said because of health and safety reasons. ?? I had to send back my pint of IPA as it was undrinkable and was told there was no-one available who could change a barrel so I had to settle for lager. All in all a day out spoilt by a mis-managed pub.

Don’t come here if you want a roast…. Booked in advance for 6 of us, when we arrived at 3pm, other than one other table we were the only ones in there. We had to ask someone to take our order after 45 minuites, we all ordered a roast on a Sunday, after 30 minutes the waitress came over and said there was no lamb left so we changed our option to Turkey or beef. They then came back after another 15 minutes to say no vegetables left. They must have sourced some frozen peas for our table. After 1 hours and 45 minutes our food arrived and although it stated beef served pink, it was served uncooked and the waitress insisted she took it back to the kitchen as she stated she didn’t want us to get ill. The beef eaters suggested they swapped to Turkey but this wasn’t an option as they stated they had also run out of Turkey. The family members had their beef cooked and returned and we ate and left. It’s such a shame as we have eaten here for many many years and now will not return.
