Definitely worth a choice if in the area, cafe was clean and tidy and the food was fine. Was busy but that didn’t affect the service. Staff were really helpful and pleasant by far one of the better m&s cafes. This place seems to have two though the one downstairs doesn’t serve hot food

Very poor, this used to be a great favourite for my lunch, but don’t think I will bother again, tried to order soup and a roll, no soup available, so opted for the Jacket spud with cheese, sat down to wait, and wait, and wait, eventually it arrived and was cold, the cheese was the ready grated stuff and had just been thrown on the top of the potato, not heated at all, so consequently the potato had gone tepid, no butter in sight, and the potato skin was soggy. A bit of stale coleslaw on the side of the plate. Very disappointing given M&S reputation.

I have been a regular customer for the past three years, at the Cafe M&S in Cheshire Oaks. While the Cafe is usually very busy, it's no surprise, the quality of M&S food it serves, and the location of the cafe, which is airy and spacious. I have not had one issue, we visit twice a week, and all the meals, hot and cold, have been very nice. The Cafe staff work very hard, and once again, as you would expect with M&S, they are polite and even when overwhelmed, the cafe can get very busy, especially with families. They do their best to keep the queues moving. The sheer volume of customers are down to the food, the service, and with M&S you do get what you pay for quality. Now the food...the Scones are delicious, as are the variety of Cakes! I particularly enjoy the Welsh Rarebit Crumpets, and the Jacket Potato. Their breakfasts are delicious. For what you pay....you are getting quality, it's fast, in a nice airy setting, and unlike other Cafes, you don't even have to clear your own table. M&S Cheshire Oaks, is a busy bustling Cafe, with M&S quality food, and table service thrown in . 10/10 from me and hubby.

Very busy & short staffed. Queued to order food then had to wait as they had run out of milk & then tea pots! Very crowded so hard to find a table free. Tables not cleared or cleaned. I saw people sitting at filthy tables with leftover food & plates from previous occupants. Don't M&S realise covid has not gone away & cleanliness should be their top priority. I wouldn't recommend here & I certainly shan't return

Had some time to kill and thought M and S. as it had been a while since I had been . Wish I had gone else where. Ambience of a swimming pool or railway station. Went to a till to order food and was informed I could only order drinks as food was the back of the hall. Settled for a cup of tea and I have sat here for 30 mins trying to figure out the system. Hard luck if it is the only shop you are visiting at the Cheshire Oaks, if visiting others go else where.

Second and last time here M and S are supposed to be high standard.....not !!! Queues were very large at every till and only a few staff to take orders and prepare drinks. Tried to order a Jacket Spud and cheese.....sorry no cheese ??? ....unbelievable ! Try your food hall. Ordered a big brekkie.....it arrived half cold, only the beans were hot and 2 cremated sausages which I asked to get changed, the reluctant staff member replaced them with microwaved half cremated ones......for £9 its not good or value in any café never mind M and S. We turned down the Asda café to drive here .... never again !!! We never saw any obvious supervisors or managers in the café area......with so many people complaining I wonder why not ? Noticed no replies to the reviews ????????

Upstairs Cafe, has been a disaster for a long time now. Unfortunately due to location there is no where near by without driving, you can get lunch or coffee when food shopping here Today was probably the worst by far. You always struggle to get a table, but most of them were filled with empty trays, due to other customers putting them there as staff had not collected them. I asked a member of staff could they clear a table as it was covered in trays and no where else to sit, he seemed reluctant, and when I asked him ' your really busy' he replied 'No' sarcasm is not included in the price. There was no mixed choice sandwich left at 12.30, and not much other sandwich choices either, but this is normal for M&S. Before Christmas customers were told half hour wait in food, now this was said for quite a few weeks to the run up to Christmas, and I suspect it was to keep pressure off the kitchen, because I never waited more than ten minutes. Today nothing was said about wait times, yet I waited half an hour . M&S got rid of their old style coffee machines and installed bean to cup, this was to get rid of the member of staff that made the coffee as they now have one member of staff serving and the same member of staff making the drinks, hence making the queue bigger, and making the member of staff work harder. Before Christmas a member of staff had been told by the Manageress not to speak to customers as it slows her cleaning tables down, to be fair the Manageress looks pretty unapproachable, so god knows how the staff are treated, like a piece of dirt I suspect. I have observed a lot with this cafe, and one thing I have noticed, they are short staffed, why I don't know. Maybe they all quit? Maybe it's just like this on Wednesdays ? M&S treat your staff with some respect, they look worn out and totally fed up. Shame on you. And keep your sandwich fridges stocked up at all times. 12.30pm to run out of them is not acceptable

Visited for a family brunch as the cafe opened this morning, unfortunately the already limited menu options where made even more restricted when we where told we couldn’t have any breakfast ciabatta’s without butter. This means they’re not fresh and must come pre-made from a company like Brakes… it also means you can’t eat if you can’t have butter. Our daughter had to eat as she was super hungry but we couldn’t. The servers looked miserable and made no effort to suggest alternatives, it was like a ‘little Britain’ sketch - “computer says no” (but not funny). The ridiculous thing is we had to leave to eat elsewhere which meant we also did our food shop elsewhere instead. To add insult to injury, when stopping for our daughter to go to the toilet on the way out there was no toilet paper (the store has only been open half an hour)…!

We used to go quite often to the this restaurant for cup of tea or light lunch. The tea used to very good quality and served well, the food was also very good. After our shopping we always looking forward to go to the restaurant. Then we did not have chance to go there. Last week we went to restaurant with our friends and we have tea and later on light lunch there. We were so disappointed with the quality of the food and service , having a tea in mugs , had chicken wraps , cold and tasteless brew tea, the chips were full of fat and cold. overpriced. I think M&S lost its touch and uniqueness . What a disappointment, come on M&S you could do it better and no need to make shortcut and lose the quality of the food and service. Coffee is a relatively straight forward (or at least should be) hot drink to make and serve without creating queues reminiscent of Soviet Russia. So very sadly I had to spell out to a manager the importance of manning their serving areas properly with efficient and well trained staff to ensure a slick operation rather than attempting to train till operators at the peak of typical coffee serving times - common sense really which is not, as they say, that common. Managers need to be customer orientated rather than trying to make excuses for really indifferent service. With a clean sweep this showcase cafe could be really good but the reputation here for poor service does not sit comfortably with the M & S brand indeed it would test the patience of most Saints either St Michael or any other.

We visited the Marks and Spencer Store (Cheshire Oaks) on Wednesday, 15th May, 2019, after shopping at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. This store is the second largest after Marble Arch in London. It's a massive building and built with sustainability in mind. There is a spacious cafe but on this occasion did not use it as we had previously dined at the Designer Outlet. We had enjoyed the cafe on previous visits. There is a vast amount of clothing and many at reasonable prices. M and S food is always top quality. All the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. It's certainly worth a visit and there is ample car parking facilities. Only minor niggle is the interior ceiling which is fully exposed with wooden rafters and ducting and can be rather dark on a gloomy day. However will definitely visit again in the near future.

The young woman who brought it to the table was smiling and polite but the beer battered fish and chips was such a let-down. The batter was soggy and clinging to the overcooked fish. The food was hot but was possibly warmed up in a microwave. Not good for crispy batter or fish à point. Still hungry, I left The tea and cakes on a nearby table looked good. We have been visiting the cafe at M&S; since the store opened. It used to be great (with people queuing to get in) but it's been getting worse each time we've visited. The last few times it's been terrible. We kept giving it another chance thinking that it would improve but it hasn't. I don't like writing bad reviews but I have no choice. The menu is small but hardly anything was available on it and it was only 12.30! The assistant said that she keeps telling them to put a sign up saying what is not available but nobody does. Our choices were not available and neither were anybody elses in the queue. The cakes (which used to look fabulous) looked poor. All dried up last pieces under every dome! Our jacket potatoes took half an hour to arrive and were not very warm. The side salad was the smallest I've ever seen! The staff seem miserable and some of them are quite rude too.The cafe was not busy but all of the empty tables were stacked with dirty cups. The table we sat at had not been wiped, the chairs were covered in crumbs, the floor was filthy. Sorry M&S; but that's our last visit to your cafe. What first struck us was the chilliness if the whole restaurant area.....not warm and welcoming as you would expect. Then we proceeded to attempt to find a sandwich amongst the haphazard fridge and food area.....no rhyme or reason to the layout at all.....and again the choice was poor....fridges half stocked .....one salad we chose out of the only two choices was open and ripped at the corner so had to be put back. Called in for a all day breakfast, having queued to give in my order my long awaited meal came. The presentation was good looked delicious. But on cutting into the poached eggs to my dismay were cold. I felt the other ingredients and all warm except the sausage. Having paid over £7 i was unwilling to accept this. I approached the lady who had brought it to the table and was instructed to take it to the cook. So having walked accross the large cafe i now find myself having to shout to gain the attention of the cook who has his back to the high counter as it is for staff only in this position. He informed me he would recook another breakfast. Waiting again this was brought to the table. Having been let down by the first offering i straight away felt each item on the plate. Poached eggs yet again cold, bacon warm, sausage hot. Taking it straight back i requested a refund. My observations of this visit are as follows. More staff needed on the cafe floor as they seemed stretched on clearing trays away and collecting food orders to take to the tables. The cook seemed to be working alone in the food preparation and cooking area which if the case he needs support. My advice would be to get the basics right, employ more staff as this would be more efficient leading to happier customers giving a quicker service. Marks & Spencer seemed to have invested in micro technology that you are given a card that has a location device built in so the staff can find your table with your order. Are we now at that age that a large company that advertises itself as being eco freindly has lost the ability to be customer freindly.

Kids and partner sat down whilst I got joined the queue- only 1 person ahead of me and whilst I was at the till paying, 1 person joined behind me. Chap serving was quick but unfriendly. He started chatting to the woman and toddler who joined the queue whilst he was taking my order- it was clear he didn't know her from the questions so it was an odd thing for him to do. Concentrate on the customer your dealing with! I had to tell him twice our drink order. I wanted to ask him where the cream was for a scone but he'd already moved on to the customer behind. Then you slide your tray round the back of the till to the barista who in my case was really grumpy. Whilst she was making 2 teas and 2 hot chocolates I tried to ask her where the cream was and she told me to wait a minute (like a school ma'am!) When she did tell me I went to get some, but she barked at me to stop, I turned back and she put milk on the tray for the teas- I said I didn't need it and she tutted at me. She hadn't asked me if I needed it.... surely I would of said and milk please if I did?

The shop itself has great clothes, and the café has great food. Everywhere is clean, and the toilets are lovely. One member of staff was rather unhelpful, and disinterested, but we complained to one of his colleagues, and they were extremely helpful in helping us find the right suit. Every single member of staff we spoke to - bar that one - was absolutely superb, and the one that wasn't had a bad reputation among his colleagues!

Arranged to meet my daughter here after work, I arrived early so ordered a coffee. Served by a very disinterested 'barista' who turned away from me before I could thank him. Lots of tables needed clearing and most tables had food debris underneath. We tried to order a meal at 6.30pm but were told the kitchen was closing down so no hot food available. Again, no interest, no helpful suggestions, so we replaced our tray and walked out. Pathetic. We had a chat in the car park and drove home. Thanks for a wonderful M&S; experience.

What a farce. I wanted poached eggs on toast. They do poached eggs as an option in cooked breakfast and toast but because no button on till for 2 poached egg on toast I can't have it but I can have scrambled egg on toast. It uses the same amount of eggs but the guy claims it wouldn't work in an audit. Common sense put it through as scrambled and ask chef for poached. The till advisor had to shout over to chef as I requested no butter on toast or in eggs. Tables dirty. Meal left on pass getting cold not good for scrambled eggs. Ended up getting it myself. No wonder marks and Spencer's shutting stores. Very dissapointing. Also ordered cheese scone. Could not taste the cheese. This was the downstairs cafe at the back of the store. Coffee looked like mud.

I am only rating this as very good and not excellent due to the lack of range of gluten free products in the restaurant. Marks and Spencer has the best range of gluten free products in the food hall, why does this not transfer into the restaurant ? Come on Marksies a very limited range in the restaurant is not including all of your regular customers. I'm getting sick of the same few items that I can have if I go in there so generally I don't bother !!! My husband often asks me to go for lunch but I say no I will have to go and buy something in the food hall !!!!

Pop in to the café at M and S fairly regularly, I personally prefer the upstairs café and we were lucky to get a table so we could look out of the window, On this occasion I chose the sandwich selection and it was very tasty. Also had some of the lovely shortbread biscuits followed by coffee. The café is clean and the tables were being cleared as they were finished with, The staff are friendly and helpful.

I have eaten and had many coffees and teas here. The latest of my visits was 2 weeks ago (actually 3 times in one week), whilst meeting friends. I arrived early - about 9-10 o clock. The cafe is very spacious and light and airy. But it does get very busy as the morning goes on. They have a digital system which allows you to order food and they will bring it to your table. We did not need to wait long for toasted teacakes. Be prepared for a slightly longer wait when it gets busy. You can collect your tea/coffee from the counter, as they make it for you after you have paid at the till. Over my three visits, I had medium coffee, medium late and a pot of tea. All delicious. They do their best to keep up with the demand at busy times to make your hot drinks, but be mindful of the time taken to use the equipment to make these delicious drinks. Great place to meet friends and catch up.

There is cafes up and downstairs. The upper one is vast and disorganized. You no longer get a biscuit with your hot drink. It is hunt the butter for your scone. The drinking glass was badly cracked. You have to clear a table to sit down. The staff were very abrupt. Cleaning standards were low.

I've had plenty of moans and groans about M&S; over the years but today they were all so much on the ball I just had to mention it, I've a bad back and was bent over a little, a lady rushed to the main door to assist as I approached, a lady giving samples of wine was lovely, the cafe couldn't help enough. When I pointed out that the culery holder could do with a clean ( build up in bottom) they genuinely thanked me for pointing it out and set about cleaning it. I would say that the cleanliness of the cafe has been questioned on other reviews, keep your eye on it please otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Deli Bar - badly positioned so that during winter months the temperature is not comfortable. It's too near the main entrance.

We have visited this cafe regularly as we often shop in the store. The place is filthy, the service is appalling and they usually only have part of the menu available because they have run out of food. Shameful attitude of staff.

Title says it all. Chaotic at half term. Eye wateringly expensive. Your sandwiches did not cost £4 to make. Filthy uncleared tables. Please sort this place out; it is NOT M&S;.

Have eaten here in the past but it’s gone downhill since opening. Food quality poor, and looked liked it had been sitting on the plate for hours, overpriced, tables not cleared, cutlery not clean, staff wearing stained uniform, not a good experience. Next time we visit it will be drinks only.

The food was good, but the hygiene lets the place down. table after table full of cups and plates left by previous customers. We had to collect the full trays from one table and move them to another to clear one for us to eat breakfast. The breakfast was very nice, but M&S; need to either improve the staff clearing or provide us the option to place our trays somewhere when we leave.

Queues to get into the restaurant as usual. Lots of tables littered with used trays that are not cleared. Staff bring orders our, ignore the used trays and go back for more orders rather than picking up stuff as they go. M&S; get a grip you can do better

This is the largest M and S store I’ve been in and was seriously impressed with the choice of goods in all departments. Free parking for customers for up to 5 hours gives you plenty of time to shop and have a leisurely meal all under one roof. Service in the cafe was friendly, quick and efficient and quality of food superb. May seem a little on the expensive side, but portion sizes are good and value for money.

This is the largest M&S; I have ever been in and it had a great choice of both clothing and food. The assisatants were very helpful. The thing that really attracted us all was the eco friendliness of the whole site with water collection from the roof to solar panels and lots of planted trees. Good cafe too.

As usual the clothes and food are nothing better than average, but hugely overpriced. There are better options and at a more reasonable price for both clothes and food just across the way at the Oakes.

Come on Marks what's happening to you. Late afternoon visit reasonably empty. Dirty table had to wipe over myself with tray of dirty dishes. Ordered soup one was warm enough other not. Returned to be reheated - waitress brought it back with finger in the soup bowl. Not pleasant. Floor surrounding table was quite mucky. Marks used to be quite a nice place to have lunch. Newish building but cafe along with many of Marks have become tatty and unclean . Need to buck up

Faced with an evening attacking the sale rails in Ellesmere Port M&S;, I thought I'd better have some food first. The problem was that the selection of hot food is VERY limited and my first choice - nothing exotic, just a baked potato with tuna and sweetcorn - was 'off'. I had a bowl of soup which was nice but nothing very exciting.

I phoned through to M&S; hospitality and booked a table for two for afternoon tea. The experience was lovely - when we arrived we were shown to a table laid out with a runner - flowers (OK they were not real- but hey!), and our china. The afternoon tea was brilliant - M & S sandwiches are always fresh and very tasty - I had the egg - but my friend had the mixed and she said they were all very good. The scones (we chose the Devon scone) which were so light and fresh - and the cakes were the 'proper' afternoon tea delicate mini cakes. Worth a return visit, and at £15.95 for two a bargain! The staff were very attentive, and the whole experience was heart warming. Thank you M & S.

Click and collect team are useless. Book a time slot, never ready, even though you get a text to say ready. Complaining gets you know where. So will switch shops going forward. Worst customer service experience from anywhere
