We love M&S Food Hall and shop in the Hedge End branch regularly so thought the café at West Quay would be a good place for brunch while out shopping. My partner ordered spicy Chicken in Ciabatta with chips, chicken was as rock hard and grey, chips were like match sticks and cold. I ordered an English breakfast which consisted of cold pouched eggs, one cold mushroom, 2 slices of what I can only presume was supposed to be bacon and two strange looking sausages. The tea and coffee were ok but would never go back...what a let down, food was just awful.

How long does it take to make 2capuccinos? Wait 10 minutes in queue then 10 minutes to make drinks.Enough time to finish a crossword.Also the only menu is high up above the tills and in very small print tells you that some items are only available up to 11.30 am.Why call it a Brunch menu if some of isn’t available at lunchtime. We go to lots of cafes and never have to wait as long as in Marks.

Cafe’s situated at the back of the store on the upper level. It does get busy, especially if only one till’s open but staff are cheerful and if ordering food then you’ll get given a numbered table stand and orders arrive quickly (my breakfast bap (good value at £4 with a drink) was on it’s way before we’d finished paying!). We visited on a hot day and it didn’t feel as if there was any working aircon so we sat near the counter away from the windows.

Wouldn’t normally write a review on a shop but, quick business trip from Scotland and whilst disappointed in Southampton town centre was very impressed by M & S and in particular a chap called Bhatti who was ultra helpful , professional and efficient and helped me get kitted out superbly in new linen jacket , trousers etc - in a different league from other staff throughout the country .

The cafe was incredibly understaffed. The poor lady who was doing her best to serve an ever growing line of people had little chance of ever catching up. We were 4 back in a queue of 14 and we waited for 20 minuits When we got our food it was cold, poorly presented and unpalatable. Very poor! I think M and S have lost its way. Giving in house franchise space will certainly be its death-nell. I don't want an overpriced food hall, Jaeger, Clarks etc. I want the quality of M and S as I have always known it. Get sorted or loose your loyal client base.

Met a friend for afternoon tea and catch-up chat. Made a mistake and chose M & S Cafe, West Quay Southampton. The whole time staff were "slinging" china/crockery in the area sectioned-off and partitioned in centre of cafe as a consequence we had a very unpleasant experience with the constant loud noise which lasted more-or-less the whole This visit was therefore very unsettling and totally unacceptable; not at all relaxing. I voiced my dissatisfaction to the member of staff on till and he said sorry he could do nothing! I replied I wouldn't be returning. I found the place had a very cold atmosphere and bad acoustics. Also very pricey - in fact charged £2.70 for flat white coffee yet I had seen it was advertised at £2.10 so I will go back to check. Wouldn't recommend.

The tea and cakes were okay but some of the plates were not very clean. Several tables had not been cleaned off during the hour we were there after customers had left.

Bright clean good value in the middle of town. You know what you will get is good food. Lunch deals ,afternoon tea deals just the thing when shopping in town.

Always enjoyed breakfast here but I was totally astonished how things could change so much . Lovely girl on the till were you place your order, I asked for a bacon roll with no butter (as I have an allergy to dairy ) the young girl said unfortunately the rolls were already made and reheated and they contained butter. Why this service has changed so much is unbelievable. I will not return .

The food was good but very little of it in plate .I orderd salad nicoisewith half an egg, a few gree beans, 2 min tomatoes sliced in half ...very small piece of canned tuna ..no bread or anything else .I knew food is epensive in England but thisis starvation proportions

Went here for lunch during Christmas shopping sprees. Its in a great position for the views of the cruise ships. Restaurant was packed and very busy so trying to get in the right queue was a challenge so we all sat down at the same time. Look for the daily specials and the regulars, I had huge jacket potato with tuna and had lovely pot of tea to go with it. Other dishes were the baguettes and smoothies and coffees and everyone was happy with selection. Only downside was tables were left cluttered for a while until cleaned and people had to move things themselves. Great quality food again though.

M&s cafe serves the best flat whites. Also enjoyed, as usual, an iced top fruit bun. A shame the service is rather slow.

Absolutely awful! Got there just before the queues started and still took 20 minutes to get through the till. Plates were dirty, cups dirty. Not enough staff on so would recommend nearby John Lewis.

Well,not impressed today,trays on most tables 30 minute wait for hot food.Very short staffed and those that were working did so at a very slow pace.

Called into this cafe for lunch but they were still offering filled breakfast rolls so we chose a sausage filled roll and a bacon roll plus coffee and an orange juice. There were two tills open and one side was faster than the other so...

Went here for a quick breakfast and ordered the bacon roll which looked great on the advertising photo. When it arrived it was disappointing. There was very little bacon which had just been 'plonked' in one bit of the roll and I had to spread...

After many years of my partner and I, both M&S Credit Card holders, using the M&S Café on average twice a week, which we always enjoyed as a treat, we are very disappointed to find that M&S have withdrawn their loyalty card as well as...
