I see no one has reported on M & S café for a long time, well it has not improved in fact its gone way down. No saucers with your cup, very expensive off hand staff need I say more. How they justify the cost of coffee is beyond me. I wonder they have any customers, wish I had not gone in. Also multi story car park adjacent makes shopping an expensive hoppy

I had eggs with smoked salmon it was luke warm and swimming in hollandaise sauce. I was hungry so I ate some of it and then felt ill for the rest of the day. I have had this food in the past and it was perfectly acceptable but this time it was truly horrible. I did mention this to the gentleman collecting dishes and dealing with customers but he showed me complete indifference.

Not the restaurant! The ladies toilets are a disgrace. The entrance door is so dirty all over you don’t want to touch it. The bins and toilet roll holders are on opposite sides of the cubicle so if you weight more than 8 stone it’s impossible to move. The hand dryers are filthy inside, the cleaner obviously wipes over the outside but omits the inner where your hands go. Disgraceful.

Oh Dear, Oh Dear - Very, very poor – Avoid! For a company supposedly on the up, this store in Truro is very much on the down! The food store is dull, the clothes store overstocked & under staffed and the Restaurant is going from bad to worse. A month ago, I had the “undersized” breakfast which was sort of luke warmish & overcooked, although the egg was good. This time, the “Egg Bene” was entirely cold including the muffin & the hollandaise and the side of chips were soft and tasted of old fat. The cappuccino was hot but no chocolate – they’d run out and this in a food store that sells the stuff. It was busy but that’s no excuse. The restaurant is supposed to be a showcase for M&S food – not an audition for “The Apprentice”. Poor management, inadequate training or a lack of staff?? I don’t know and I don’t care – I for one will be shopping & eating elsewhere in future.

We had lunch in the cafeteria and I ordered mashed avocado with poached eggs on toast. We waited for about half an hour to be served but when it arrived it was stone cold and tasteless, cold eggs and cold tasteless toast for £8.50. No cacao powder on the cappuccino, they had ran out… Long queues at the ladies toilets, one Out of order and practically non existant liquid soap, I struggled to get one drop… Saturday is one of the busiest day and M&S know that, it screams complacency and inadequacy. Very disappointing.

As we were already in M&S shopping, it seemed like a good plan to eat in their restaurant. Huge mistake. We ordered two ham and cheese toasties and two coffees and went to find a table. There were tables available, but not cleared or cleaned - neither was the floor. As these were the only places to sit, we had no choice. There were no staff around doing any clearing or cleaning and only two people delivering the food to the tables, only one of whom showed any interest in what she was doing. After a 25 minute wait our toasties arrived - cold congealed cheese, ham that was singed at the edges and far too much mustard, making them inedible. Needless to say, we left them. The only plus point was the coffee was at least hot. We will most certainly not be eating here again and would advise other people not to do so either.

The giant breakfast is totally misnamed, it should be the medium sized and COLD breakfast. I visited with family at lunchtime and it was nearly full but we did manage to secure a booth seat which would have been more comfortable if I was several inches taller! Maybe 5'4" is considered excessively short by whoever designed the hight of the table? The tea came with very small cups and in a very small tea pot so not off to a great start, but the meal was worse. It didn't take that long to arrive but had obviously been sitting for several minutes on stone cold plates so it was far too cold. The toast only had the tiniest bit of residual heat as did the bacon and mushroom and everything else was luke warm, and to be honest, even if it was all served hot, it didn’t taste anything better than could be had a lot cheaper elsewhere. I didn't have the heart to complain at the time as there was only one lady delivering meals despite the cafe being full so I guess it was a mix of poor management and lack of staff that was at the root cause of the cold meal. Next time I will go to Sainsbury's for a LARGE all day breakfast as its more plentiful, tastes better and served hot with huge mugs of tea - plus it costs £3 or £4 per person less! M&S need to try harder to be considered of better quality or value to be worth the bother of eating here.

Came in today, I come here often, usually it’s really lovely. Today was very poor. I think there’s some new staff on today, which is great. However there was a red haired girl who was very uninterested in her job, she stood leaning at the used tray station with her arms folded, just staring at the amass of crumbs and rubbish that was on the floor! Surely someone could give her a brush and make the place look like you’d want to eat here! Very poor impression today and not the best service. The young chap clearing the floor however did a great job and was happy and smily!

It was a busy Saturday but most of the people near us seem to just be sitting down to coffee and cake so I am not sure why it took so long the be served with a full day breakfast. The portions were average and it was ok but not great but why was it served with nearly cold toast which was barely toasted at all? Of all the things you could serve, toast is the simplest to get right so there was no excuse to get this so obviously wrong. I would only go here again for coffee as that is ok.

Cafe is located on top floor at far end away from car park entrance (although that’s where the rest rooms are situated, unless you’re happy to use the disabled facility). Food etc is same as any other M&S; cafe - it’s the service that breaks it here. Decided on soup and there’s four or five choices - went to place order at till and was told it would be a 20min wait for the soup - asked why and there was no real reason and it wasn’t exactly busy - had a slice of cake instead. Noticed other customers experienced same issue regarding hot food and changed their decision as well when told. Tables took a while to get cleared and cleaned so overall this was our first and last visit at this cafe as there’s so much choice around and about nearby .

I am a regular customer at M&S; Lemon Quay. Spending in excess of £120 in the food dept. every week. I usually call in at the cafe for a drink and a snack. The queue is generally disorganised and the wait for food unacceptably long, but my conversation with the manager today bordered on the bizarre. I ordered two coffees and two toasted tea cakes, to be told the wait for “hot” food was 20 - 25 minutes. This was at 2pm, not during the main lunchtime rush. I can only imagine how long customers had to wait before me. When I questioned the inordinately long wait for a relatively quick snack, the manager informed me that the tea cakes were put in the oven with everything else! Sensibly, or so I thought, I questioned why quick turn around food, such as tea cakes, could not be done in a toaster ... response, “We don’t have one.” I pointed out that their own Homeware Dept. was full of them, why not pop out and relieve the shelves of a couple? This apparently was out of the question, as they would have to order one. Thus my fears for the future of M&S; were confirmed. A once great British Institution is now being managed by those with no common sense and no idea of how to serve its loyal customers. Unlike the people in front of me in the queue, who returned their food to the shelves, I decided to wait. My tea cakes did arrive some 25 mins. after my order. Such a pity to see a Company, which in the past was renowned for its customer service, reduced to this low standard. Profits will continue to fall and branches will continue to close ... what a shame.

We were here last week for an all day breakfast and were very happy to find new toasted sandwiches on the menu and scrambled eggs on toast. So my partner tried the grilled cheese sandwich with red onion last week and liked it. Today I had the breakfast and my other half tried the scrambled eggs and unfortunately the scrambled egg smelt of fish. I don’t have a keen sense of smell but even I could smell it so whether the product had been microwaved in an oven or receptacle recently used for a fish product or the eggs were from fish fed hens (the poached eggs were not fishy!) I don’t know but it made the eggs inedible unfortunately. We always find m&s; cafe food and coffee/hot chocolate etc to be lovely but on this occasion the scrambled eggs were not.

Lots of spilt food on the floor, tables piled high with used crockery, trays of uneaten food, general chaos. We stopped for lunch and selected a tia curry and turkey pie respectively. In view of how busy it was I guess the wait was to be expected. The food arrived piping hot and delivered with a genuinely warm smile and cheerful greeting. The meals were lovely and just the right quantity, so well done. For us, the thing that lets the restaurant down is how little space there is between tables. I know you need to maximise your return on the space and, knowing how busy you get, you probably want more covers, but it really does spoil the expereince. We watched and experienced first hand being pushed and shoved as customers tried to get through the with their trays and worst still buggies. Will we return? Instead I was met with being ignored by staff - yet other people whom had arrived at the automatic checkouts after me were getting served immediately if there was a problem. Being a person with an invisible disability where i could collapse and am always trying to hide the pain in my legs - such rude behaviour is unacceptable. I should not have to tolerate a filthy look followed by the turned back of the checkout girl more than once - any more than i should have to point out more than once that i have been there too long and got there first - as well as having to validate my disability by sharing the details of my illness with her.Yes, i looked smart. The staff cannot cope,it's not their fault. If you have children don't bother they will get restless. Have gone there several times, the food is either finished they have sold out so if you like salads beware as you only have 2 choices and if you are vegetarian one choice ! Tables never cleared unless you do it yourself, why should you after all you are paying to eat in. Food okay. I have never had to give a rubbish review I always try to look at the positive side...

I used to pop in with a friend for drinks and snacks but the service is so slow and the hot chocolates were hardly hot. We go elsewhere now.

The saving grace of this cafe is that there are several floors of car parks where hopefully you can find a space to park on the level of the floor of the cafe .The trouble with the cafe is the chaotic way the staff work .The organisation leaves a lot to be desired ,not least where you queue to place your order .The trays are behind you against a wall away from the serving area ,and I had to search ,and have to be directed to them ,as they were not obvious .It is such a small area where people have to line up ,and there are two queues ,which is confusing ,as only the one is completely obvious its there .Why they changed from the original layout I don't know .Presumably it was to get more bums on seats ! Although I was kept standing waiting for my turn to be served ,I did feel sorry for the staff falling over themselves in their cramped space ..and visibly working their little socks off ,perspiring and looking hot .and not getting very far .I think the cafe has sadly , like the rest of this Store ,lost its way ..The staff don't seem as highly trained in customer relations as they were years ago ,and I'm often as a customer being served ,having to take a back seat whilst the assistant holds a conversation with her neighbouring colleague .The food is ok ,when you do finally get to a member of staff ,but is quite restricted and not cheap .,one of the nicest things about this cafe is the glimpse of the spires of the Cathedral from the window ,being high up .Unfortunately,I often feel I'd like a coffee if I've been trolling through the store to no avail of finding anything I want to buy ,but the thought of the palava of queueing and of finally arriving at a table ,takes more time than I have to spare .

Overall a pleasant visit however facilities were not sign posted adequately. Found disabled loo which I am registered disabled so we all went together!! Cafe very pleasant had more choice in cake than the m&s cafes near to our local area. One problem when you go to pay or order hot drinks it's not set out in a way that is straight forward. Otherwise service etc was great.

Shopping in Truro and decided to have a cup of coffee before going home. The wait to be served took forever. There were a number of tables vacant however they were not particularly clean and many had used crockery/cutlery on them. The lady who served us was very polite with a lovely smile however there was no apology for the wait/delay. Sadly this is not the first time we have had this experience. For a store which has a good food hall and other departments one feels that they could do better.

Thought we would pop in for a coffee and bite to eat.....just your typical British eatery...boring, bland and getting expensive. Clean and courteous at all times but dont you just get tired of the same old thing...just a different day !

Hi there.. the shop is great with a full range of everything. A good food hall everything that you would expect from a M+S. A linked under cover car park with a working lift great.. BUT it is very very EXPENCIVE. so be aware of the time you arrive and leave...

Visited with a friend and after shopping in the store we decided to go for a coffee in the Café. The whole experience was a real treat, we enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee and a biscuit. The surroundings are fresh and welcoming and the staff are genuinely friendly and competent. It is well worth a visit after shopping if you are looking for a great cup of coffee served with a smile

We dropped in the cafe between our shopping in M&S. There was an offer for the afternoon hi tea(12 pounds for 4 people). We got a generous supply of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream(a Cornish delight) and macarones. The sandwiches were very tasty and the cakes were awesome followed by the tea. The whole experience was very refreshing and satisfactory .

I always like the way in which your looked after by the staff in all Marks and Spencers. I visited here yesterday and purchased a new sofa. Nothing was to much trouble for Clare and the other young lady in the furniture section We were allowed to wonder round and were not "pounced on" by any of the staff. We left the store to return home and then returned back to the store later in the afternoon. We paid for our new sofa, completed the paperwork and arranged delivery. No fuss, hassle or hanging around. We will be returning again.

Marks and Spencer's cafes are now offering proper English tea, that is served on a tiered tea tray with sandwich selections, scones and cream and lovely small cakes. This includes either a pot of tea or coffee. My sister and I decided to indulge and what a treat this is. The price is very reasonable and we couldn't eat everything on the stand, so we ended up taking the remains home with us. I believe that many restaurants and hotels are now offering something similar at a vast difference in price? This was well worth the money and I can highly recommend it

It was one of those spur of the moment decisions to visit the M & S restaurant. Service was very good, food was well served and good value. A bit noisy but it is quite a large area so that was not surprising.

Very very expensive, £30 for a couple of sandwiches, drinks and cake and a bottle of water. Disgusting in my wife's words.

We had coffee, hot choc & juice, sandwiches, bacon muffin, kids' ham sandwich. First time the man made a latte with a pattern, which was lovely! Never seen it in M&S before. They have changed the decor, which is more modern now. I suppose they had time to do it, as this M&S nowhere as near as busy the one in Plymouth, where there is a lack of any design at all.

We found it to be OK, if not a little noisy, and seating very limited, by the time you get you drinks, be sure you have a table to sit at, or be caught out!!

In all honesty I a a Marks and Sparks fan and always will be. The beauty of this one, seeing its nit in a large shopping complex, is the fact that when you park up in lemon quays you are immediately a short distance from the steps and lifts into the shop. Easy access for all, even getting out onto the sin street us easy. A well designed outlet that I'm sure is a favourite for all. Enjoy.

I would really call this an attraction, however it is well looked after with helpful staff, you can do you shopping, weather it be clothes or food, there is also a nice little café on the top floor where you can get a good view of Lemon Quay. However all of this does come with a price tag. It is easily accessible both by public transport and by car as it has its own multistory car park. But again no wow factor for me.

This is like a works canteen, there is nothing to recommend it as far as the ambiance and layout is concerned. The food is OK but nothing to write home about. They never change the variety of their sandwiches, which are always very cold, damp and unappetising. The colour scheme is drab. Some of the cafe staff are pleasant and obliging, but others are not.

My husband and I have been on several occasions recently. We are not impressed. The cafe has recently been refurbished. However there is a table right beside the area of clearing the trays with used crockery. The cafe is very noisy. There are no comfy sofas to sit on. There are no plants. In short, it looks like a works canteen. The food is expensive compared with other such establishments. All in all, not good value for money or somewhere to relax after a shopping spree.

After traipsing around Truro with my mum and son all week, (on holiday from Switzerland, where the coffee is the best in in world!) I was getting severe headaches due to my coffee dependency. We had been to most of the coffee places in Truro and Redruth and my frustration was boiling over at what was supposed to be coffee was in fact hot water and a grain of instant coffee. As a last resort we piled into M&S coffee shop, Truro, expecting yet another disappointment. My son took the first sip and said 'it's good', I tried mine and relaxed.......good coffee, good price, good surroundings. This is a great store anyway....thank you good old M&S.

Very expensive for what it is!! Dry baguette with ham (tasty ham) and cheese, a bit of salad and coleslaw (not very fresh) and a flat white came to £13.70!!! So stunned at the price I just paid it. I live in Truro and certainly won't be going again!

We visited this pub twice during our short visit as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we had the freshly caught cod and chips which really did look like a whale on a plate. Would highly recommend this place and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Had a standard cappuccino here and it would've cost me less to get a taxi to Lidl and make it myself. Probably would've tasted better too.

A great find in busy Perranporth. Really nice food offering at very decent prices. Great service as well. Definitely a place to go
