All of staff friendly but one woman was so rude, telling us that we were not allowed to eat M&S sandwiches in the cafe after we bought them due to allergy. We had already checked when we bought hot drinks and cakes. She said she would normally ask us to leave. Really ruined our experience. Won't go there again

Very busy cafe, they lady who eventually served us superb. Empty and clean tables, fill, empty and fill dishwasher, serve teas and take orders. Another lady doing coffee only. Not sure what the man was doing but not working hard as lady who served us. Very long wait to be served and all empty tables had dirty pots on them. Coffee and scones as they normally are scones. Asked for extra milk to cool my wife's coffee served in a red hot pot straight out of dishwasher.

Didn't realise they don't have a downward escalator from 1st floor where cafe is situated. The lift was out of order so I had to painfully walk down the steps after our lovely tea & cake. An assistant said the lift had been out of order for at least 3 hours but there was a man in a wheelchair in the cafe who left 15 minutes or so before us so I asked how did he get to the ground floor but she was unable to answer that question. Not very disability friendly!

Coffee spoilt by being served in paper cups. We requested proper cups but were told they could not wash cups so paper!. Then some were offered pot cups! Coffee and cheese scone lovely as they always are

Asked for chips to go with toasties but no chips.got 2 diet coke and when the glasses came 1 had a long black hair in.The cutlery the staff brought over she took back because she realised it was dirty.This is possibly the worst marks and spencer cafe I have ever been in.It is filthy dated and needs a good sort out.

As we were shopping in store, decided to go for lunch in the cafe. Has a ham and cheese toastie with chips and coffees. Delicious and plenty for 2 to share. Good social distancing and covid hygiene measures everywhere.

Visited here on Tuesday 15th September, 2020, whilst on holiday in Scarborough. We got quick service and food was very good, including nice scones. Good selection of food available. Very clean cafe with friendly and efficient staff.

This M & S cafe is rather tired, claustrophobic with low ceiling tiles and the ambiance of a factory canteen. Bland decor and worn out seating gives me the impression this store has not seen any recent investment, hopefully for Scarborough’s sake it’s not at risk of closing.The cheese and ham toastie and sausage bap and drinks were a more positive experience, tasty and swiftly delivered. The 2 staff we were in contact with were efficient and welcoming. M & S staff training up to usual high standard. Cleaning procedures, screens and walking routes were all being abided to. Only other gripe was that some of the tables were too close together.Since we had to enter the store via one entrance and exit at the other side of the building but then had to sit within half a metre of other customers this really didn’t make sense.My score of 2 seems harsh, wish tripadvisor would allow 2.5 marks.However the experience was underwhelming overall.

Went in light lunch during a visit to Scarborough we no longer have an M and S near us as it closed down. Also in terms of coronavirus measures a friendly gentleman was cleaning tables and seating throughly between customers space is obviously but queuing and plastic screens it all seems very organised. Had two toasties once each, a cappuccino and elderflower juice, we didn't realise it was eat out to help out scheme too, so an added bonus. We like the toasties had them at other M and S cafes with the chesse on the outside it's unusual and works well. We a look at food Hall area downstairs and bought some biscuits, cakes and pasta and noticed they were cleaning the self service checkouts between customers, first time I've seen this. Marks and Spencer are taking coronavirus seriously and not cost cutting like some large supermarkets like Asda which have now axed queuing and checking numbers, got rid of directional arrows, cramped area for self service which means no distancing and aisles that can get really busy basically some don't seem to care about their customers or staff who have to do as told. M & S do care and it means that vulnerable customers should feel safe here too.

I come here frequently mainly because a receive hot drinks vouchers with my M&S Credit card but otherwise it would not be my preferred pit stop. The staff are always pleasant and hardworking, but my main gripe is the difficulty in getting seated once you have purchased your refreshments. People come in and sit down without purchasing anything and spread themselves over 2 tables, so if you are on your own it is very difficult to get seated, It is also on the way to the toilets, the tables are very close together and overall not an enjoyable experience. I have drawn attention to these problems before but sadly nothing has changed.

We were served quite quickly on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Good soup, bacon roll and chicken sandwich. Staff were clearing tables at breakneck speed. The cafe in York and Beverley offer such slow service so well done Scarborough staff.

Pat had an offer at the cafe so we had coffee and scones. lovely scones and nice coffee. It was very busy, lucky to find a seat.

We arrived just as the restaurant was closing and we were told we were just in time to be served. We had two lattes which were very good. An added bonus was that we were given a free Little Shop mini-collectible if we spent over £1. The M&S cafe staff were really friendly and helpful and helped make our visit with 2 tired young children very enjoyable

Whilst shopping decided to have a coffee and bun. Both were your typical M&S fayre. The coffee was hot and the cake was fresh. Very clean cafe and pleasant staff. Only downside is its location and size within the store.

As M&S say, "This is not just any cafe this is an M&S cafe", which in this case means very slow service and inadequate seating Very disappointing for a company that is based on quality, what a shame.

On a Wednesday afternoon around 1.15pm, the cafe was heaving, but we only had to wait around 5 minutes for a table. Friendly service, great range of sandwiches, toasties and scrummies.

On a recent visit we decided to stop in M and S for a scone-Pat had an offer. It always seems busy and despite visiting Scarborough quite regularly we hardly ever eat in M and S. The scones were lovely. Most enjoyable.

Service and food below average but the toilets were disgusting. Not what you would expect from a major high street retailer.

Why do they call it a pot of tea? Perhaps you can get one and a half cups out of it but no more. And they only give you enough milk for one cup. Also white sugar is only available in one bowl on the counter. The sachets are all brown sugar or sweeteners. I realize they're trying to make us healthier but I very rarely use sugar and just wanted a traditional pot of tea. Should have gone elsewhere.

It is not quite to the standard of other M&S; cafes I have visited but it does have toilets and it was clean if a little waiting room like. Did have to stand and wait to be served whilst two servers were chatting. But another staff member pointed out that I was waiting to be served.

Needing a coffee and use of the toilet facilities- I got the escalator and found the cafe - very busy but there was an empty table so I ordered a latte with a double shot from the counter service - looking round I appeared to be one of the younger customers- but the young staff dropped the average- good coffee for 2-85 and very clean but busy toilets

Been coming here for years. Was very good but has been looking a bit 'tired' for the last 12 months. Went again this week, feeling decidedly neglected. Ordered an Americano, it was one of the worst ever with hardly any coffee taste at all. All the staff looked distracted or disinterested. Even the gents loo was smelly and unclean.

Met a friend here for a catch up and a coffee.. I have to say the chairs are very uncomfy.. the staff were lovely and friendly.. but we had a procession of people walking past to use the loos.. which was not great.. the drinks were fine but considering the standard of Marks. The cafe was a little poor I thought.

This is probably my least favourite Marks and Spencer Cafe. The main area of the cafe is the route to the store toilets, it is noisy and difficult to get a seat at busy times due to the number of people who sit down and wait for their partners to purchase their food and drinks. The food is standard Marks and Spencer fare and is quite expensive. Not my favourite place for lunch and if I did not receive Hot Drink vouchers I would not use it at all.

Whilst walking around the centre of Scarborough it was good to have a rest in a known place with good value tea. It was very welcome. However the staff member who served us was clearly having a bad day!

Came for lunch with the family on a day trip to Scarborough. The lady at the till was everything but pleasant, no greeting, no smile - just barked orders at us ! Very small cafe, overcrowded with tables piled high with previous occupants crockery - wouldn't rush back !

Siempre me encantó su capuchinos pero oh cielos qué ha ocurrido M Y BEBER S. hoy probado de absolutamente nada. Odio quejándose, pero era tan horrible que tenía. El personal me hizo otra que obligingly ligeramente mejor. No volveremos en el futuro previsible por desgracia

went to marks and spencers café a couple of times for lunch it was very good and excellent value for money

Whilst the food and drink is fine the squat corner next to the toilet could is not a pleasant location. I'm not keen on people squeezing past to get to the loo. Also it's in a dingy corner with no outside windows.

Just for scones and tea, warm and cosy, popular in mid November.Staff and customers were friendly and chatty if you sought it.

As a frequent visitor to M and S cafe's we notice the coffee varies from location to location, the staff don't bang the measure out as they should, therefore it's sometimes bitter, but not at this store, the coffee is always good. The staff are well trained but for one we have noticed she's a good worker, but definitely needs some people skills and politeness which should come naturally, she never says hello, thank you or smiles, she turns the milk sour !! And I think why do we come here ? I just hate it when she's serving.

I have frequented the M & S cafe Scarborough quite a few times. The staff are wonderful, my mother is in a wheelchair & they have gone out of their way to find a table for us if we are having trouble. The staff in the cafe never stop, especially the ladies who are over 30, it seems second nature to them to be pleasant & make each customer feel very welcome.The afternoon tea is presented nicely, & tastes wonderful.The tables are cleared & cleaned efficiently.Well done ladies & gents in M & S cafe Scarborough, for going above & beyond to make your clients feel welcomed.

Had toasties and cakes, both were delicious. Staff were friendly and efficent. Tables were cleaned quickly. Good for a quick snack after doing some shopping.

Had a latte coffee only at this Café and have to admit it was the worse Latte I have ever had was unable to drink same it just had no taste to it at all. Have been in many M&S cafes and just did not enjoy this one.

Very plain cafe, no windows and none of the usual wall posters or decorations. Some staff pleasant but one serving coffees was very offhand, no eye contact made and didn't speak at all.

Had coffee, just needed a rest from shopping. Nothing special and I think poor location for the cafe, stuck in a corner with no windows, looks like a bit of an afterthought. Staff and service were good as was the coffee but much better places to have a coffee.

the majority of the employees were moody and unwelcoming throughout the entire time i was there and have been on several other occasions when i have visited in the last year, there were only 2 notable staff on that day that gave a genuinely pleasant experience, 2 young males. I had a sandwich and a cake, both were nice however i feel the prices are slightly too high for the quantity and quality you receive. i would visit again however i would probably only purchase hot drinks, not the food

Asked for a cappucino and flat white. Cappucino looked great but flat white was a milky coffee with no foam. I asked politely to have a little froth on the coffee but was told that my drink was a perfect flat white and came without any froth.It certainly is not the same as ones I have drunk in New Zealand.What happened to the customer is always right?....although the coffee tasted good the way I was treated left a sour taste.

We be Scarborough today looking for Fish and chips but we was round we about 10 in the central couldn't fine one and end up in marks and Spencer cafe ,it wonderful food and we really but enjoyed the lunch for 16.80..try vegetables soup it green delicious.staff are very friendly and best service to.

Popped here on a Sunday for a quick bite. Plenty of seats available. Very canteen like. Food as expected. Expensive for what you get but tasty.

Very busy with good range of food and beverages - found stall particularly pleasant and helpful especially to mothers with very young babies in prams .

Not best situated, ie access to toilets from main shopping area is made through Caffe. Cramped and disappointing experience.

This cafe ,is one of M&S smallest i have been in ,there are not enough seats ,for all the people ,who want to have a drink here ,and i saw several people walk out ,after picking up a tray ,then realising there are not enough seats to relax ,and enjoy you drink and cake ,so this is losing customers ,fot M&S ,which i find is not good enough ! The prices ,are not the cheapest ,but people don`t seem to be to bothered ,about this anyway .

Most marks and spencer cafes I've been in seem a bit cleaner than this one. We've been 3 or 4 times and each time struggled to find somewhere clean to sit, even though there seems to be plenty of staff on. The food is ok and they have really nice coffee and hot chocolate.

All the food is got out of the fridge and I presume microwaved as it didn't take long. We went in the morning and somethings had already run out! only a small choice though, and not cheap.

We were shopping in M&S as it was cold and wet decided to try cafe rather than walk to our normal spot. It was a mistake! Just had tea for two and two scones . The cheese scone I had was very stodgy and did not taste much of cheese. The tea was just two pots of tea no hot water to top up. The milk was in the smallest of jugs, looked like the size had been chosen buy accounts. No doubt we could have asked for more but you should not have to do. Back to usual spot and it is cheaper as well for better quality

Will not use this cafe again. Not enough staff, they try so hard but need more backup.Noisy and too long a wait. Not improved since it opened. Management needs to give more support. Also overpriced.

Several times recently I have called in here for coffee as I had some hot drink vouchers to use.The first time I waited a considerable time for a coffee,then had to sit at a table which had not been cleared.There was a continuous stream of people going into and out of the adjacent toilet facilities.Not a relaxing coffee break.My second & third visits were very similar,although I did find a clean table on these occasions,but the music and announcements were far too loud.I tried the latte and the cappuccino but both were,in my opinion,far too weak.Today I called in again but the coffee machine was out of order , so no coffee at all!I have decided that,in spite of vouchers,Marks & Spencers café is not for me!

Always good here , although a little crowded and hot on my last visit , coffee was nice and hot , and our meal was small but enjoyable

The coffee is good but the waiting time for your drinks is usually very long and if you ask for hot food it is usually ready long before the coffee is. For some reason it is a problem in every M&S cafe I have visited even the new one at York. For some reason there is never enough staff to coordinate the ordering of the coffee, to staff making the drinks and the clearing of the tables, Often when the queue is very long I go elsewhere.

my break from a busy days shopping was interrupted by hard sell announcements, the coffee was good but the noise spoiled a 'short r+r!'

This is a small cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff a very friendly and the food is of a good standard at a good price

Went in to a fairly quiet cafe loads of staff but the young girls looked like they would prefer to be somewhere else, I had a toasted sandwich which was slapped on the table along with somebody elses sandwich but as the girl never said a word to me I called another lady who took it away. I paid one pound twenty five for a tiny salad very poor value awful service in fact a but of a joke prefer and should have gone to cookies in furture thats what we will do

Called for coffee, which was fine. No complaints about that. Floor and chairs were full of crumbs which wasn't that pleasant. However, every couple of minutes between songs a woman came on telling us about goods in store, about credit cards, about M&S banking, about terms and conditions. And it was very loud. Spoiled the whole atmosphere. Sorry M&S but we don't want to listen to that when trying to 'revive' ourselves in the cafe. We've had enough of the hard sell. Leave it out.

Came here with my grandad as it was convenient ordered one smoothie and two chicken pie meals, the food arrived quickly but only because ot is the same fopd you can buy downstairs just stuck in the microwave! For the price thos isn't on! However the pie was nice as was the readymade mash and gravy toilets were clean and staff nice would come again for the drinks maybe but not the food

Very poor and slow service. Customers queuing while staff members do anything but serve. Clearing tables, washing dishes, moving stock around all seem more important than actually serving the waiting customer. Drinks and snacks are fine but they really should get their act together. Staff seem a bit miserable. Would expect better from M&S.
