All steak pie as great but quite small portion - mash helped out. The sandwiches (egg, bacon) were not very good - bread was cold and it was dry to swallow that down. hot chocolate was quite weak as if it was a lot of water and just a pinch of cocoa...

I had breakfast at Maria’s Market Café to try the classic English breakfast. The experience was interesting, since the place has an authentic and welcoming atmosphere, typical of a local market. Breakfast was fine, with all the traditional items like eggs, sausage, beans and bacon. The taste was acceptable, although nothing out of the ordinary. I can't say it was a memorable dish, but it did its job of offering a traditional experience. I found the price a little high for what they offer, but since it's in a popular location, it's understandable. All in all, it was a pleasant experience for those who want to try a classic English breakfast in a market atmosphere, although the taste and price were not the highlights.

Decided on the breakfast in the market because of the reviews. Cold beans, cold mushrooms with a very unpleasant flavour, overcooked and very dry bacon alongside bacon that was just undercooked? 1 tablespoon of bubble and squeak and a tiny little fried egg. No bread or toast included and the tea which was also extra cost was just a cup of hot milk really. That had to go back, tea is personal. I will say the 2 Cumberland sausages were very good. That saved the day really. 2 Borough special breakfasts, 1 Cappuccino and 1 Tea £35.50. Really? Dreamy.

My husband ordered a full English and I had a bacon sandwich. Poor quality cheap ingredients, uncooked, stone cold black pudding and bacon that had barely seen the grill and was fatty and pale. £36 for this with 2 coffees and some toast. Absolutely horrible and would not recommend at all.

I had heard this is one of the best spots for English breakfast but I think it's not quite there yet. Everything was very good, expect one of the main elements of the dish - the beans. They truly just tasted like ketchup. The americano I also ordered wasn't the best coffee. Still, it was a decent place with a really good black pudding. However, the tables are in a very bad state, with rips in the cloth even. The service staff is not the most friendly as well. Overall, I think it's quite expensive for the quality and the amenities it has.

Maria’s Market Cafe is a charming eatery known for its cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Located in a bustling market area, it offers a variety of delicious, home-cooked meals and baked goods, making it a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. Bit pricey for a greasy spoon. There’s a sign by the till ‘wait to be seated’ so we waited. We should have just sat down and ignored this sign, we waited while others just walked in and sat down. I had the veggie breakfast which was 2 eggs, some mushrooms, fried tomatoes, beans. bubble and squeak, and a vegan sausage Bubble was cold! Hubby had bacon, sausage. Eggs, chips, beans. Neither came with toast so ordered that as extra. Hot breakfast should always come with toast, or sometimes even bread and butter. Tea in a cup, coffee in a takeaway cup. When paying to sit in a cafe, I like my coffee in a cup but hey, it tasted nice anyway My husband is born and bred East London and felt this cafe is targeted towards tourists. Even heard one of the staff say ‘luvly jubbly’ to a family of tourists. Do people really say that now? I almost always comment on customer service because if the food is just ok but the customer service is amazing, we may give it another go! The young woman serving us wasn’t happy, didn’t smile once, and I just thought maybe she doesn’t want to work on a Sunday? Other staff busy and running around, not really customer focused but I appreciate they are busy and wanting to get as many covers as possible in the time open. Our plates were whipped from under us when we were still sat there finishing our drinks but the lady said they had a plate shortage so needed our plates back. Fair enough! Over £30 for breakfast is expensive, and it wasn’t special enough to encourage a return visit Ironically, you can have a full English in Wales (in the capital) with toast included at half the price (and it’s good) so I think the prices at this cafe are due to location, and tourists being happy to pay them Overall tasted OK. I’ve given average as there’s no scoring for ‘good’ and I can’t justify scoring it ‘very good’

Service was great. Staff friendly (mostly). English breakfast was very disappointing. The bubble was like slop. No crispiness, it was more a ponch than a bubble. Awful. Tasteless too. Mushrooms were soggy, overcooked and quite unpleasant. Sausages were tasty and a nice surprise. Two different types of sausage and both tasty. Bacon was just medallions. Medallions shouldn’t be crispy, fat should be crispy. Overall, avoid. There are much better places in walking distance. I think they are taking their prominent position in the market for granted.

Disappointing, for £14.50 for a burger and chips. I don't recommend this cafe. The chips were tasty but the 6oz beef burger was tasteless and the BRIOCHE bun was missing. Cheese was burnt, as were the onions and salad whilted. This cafe used to be the go-to place in the market over the past three decades I've visited. But sadly not any more. The pricing reflects the rip-off nature of Borough Market. But the poor food quality is something the owner needs to sort out.

I’ve been coming here for takeaway breakfast sandwiches for years - which are generally really good (adding starts for these). Staff are pretty friendly too. Decided to eat in today but was a pretty terrible experience. £17 for an English breakfast which was missing items mentioned on the menu. It also turned out it didn’t come with toast, they said I had to pay extra for that. It also took 35 minutes to arrive. This cafe used to be a lot better - I’d stick to the takeaway and leave eating in for the tourists.

I live and work locally and have been grabbing takeaway breakfasts from Maria's for years. It's always been pricey, but fairly decent (i.e. not total rip-off), and the staff are always friendly in the morning. I had some extra time today so decided to sit in for a full breakfast, which I haven't done for a while.....it was not good. Firstly, the menu doesn't have prices on it....so I ordered the English Breakfast and they said 'that'll be £17 please'. I thought maybe it's going to be a fantastic portion, premium ingredients, so why not. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it was small, no different to a regular cafe (which would usually be around a tenner) and it didn't even come with toast! They said I'd have to pay extra if I wanted toast. It wasn't until after I left that I realised they left out the black pudding too... What a shame, this used to be a great cafe! It was very busy and, I think, I was the only non-tourist there, so maybe I'm just not the target audience.

Really disappointed to see this place (which I’ve adored for 20+ years) has now gone down hill. What happened to the fantastic old baps? Replaced by what tasted and looked like shop bought packaged buns… No bubble and squeak left when I came so instead they gave me a single paltry hash brown. Not a patch and nothing knocked of the bill… Small forgettable bun with just two bacon rashers, one hash brown and a sprinkle of cheese for £7.50. The old baps were well worth £7.50 but this was a meagre bacon sarnie worth £4.50 max. Cup of tea now £2.50. Steep for a tea bag… Worst of all tea and a roll came to £11. When I asked why they said they add a 10% service charge now! I was standing at the counter paying for my order ahead of getting the food and already being charged 10% for someone to walk 2m with a bacon roll on it!!!! Cannot believe they do this. What happened here??? Essentially every tab’s total is 10% more than advertised as they don’t tell you they’re adding service charge. It’s criminal and completely hidden. Fancy a burger van in a lay-by charging 10% service charge - no different here at all. Insane. I’ll say it again; where did the amazing bread baps go? Shoddy substitute. After 20 years I’m sad to say I won’t go back

I ordered the second top breakfast; it said it came with bubble and was £12.95. I asked for a tea to go with it and the bill came to £17.00 😳😳😳 Is a small mug of tea really £4.05?? The breakfast wasn’t as per the menu picture or description as it had less content. It definitely wasn’t the ‘big’ breakfast although I suspect that’s what I was charged for. I asked for a receipt afterwards but evidently that was too difficult to produce. The food; apart from being a not very generous proportion compared to many other breakfast type cafes, and seemingly having items missing, it was not very warm at all. Less than Luke-warm beans and mushrooms are pretty gross. The plate on which the food was served was stone cold; warming the plates might help keep what little bit of heat there was in the food. The tea was also Luke warm at best. Probably more a Borough Market issue that this cafe but where I was sat there was a bad stench of drains; not at all pleasant whilst eating my (small but expensive) breakfast. 🍽️ 🔍 🤢 If I’d have paid £8.50 ie half price I’d have still been disappointed but at £17.00, I feel I’ve been ripped-off and conned. 😤 Embarrassingly, my work mates told me to avoid this place but I’d had a good experience pre-Covid lockdown; oh how they laughed at me when I got back to work and recounted my experience. Yeah yeah, I’m the ‘mug’ for not listening!! I won’t be making that mistake again 😏

Old school "greasy spoon" style british cafe serving traditional cafe food. Had the full English with which was OK overall but the thinnest sliver of black pudding I've ever seen. Sausage was good. My wife had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon but the eggs were pretty overcooked. The tea was as weak as it gets, with milk already in (a pet peeve, but standard for an old school caff I suppose). Overall, I think it's overpriced for what it is and relying on where it is for tourist trade, so don't have to try too hard. Bit more effort and it could be so much better.

I recently had brunch at this place when I went exploring the burrough market and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The food, earning a solid 4 out of 5 rating, was absolutely delicious. What impressed me the most was the fact that they offered a vegetarian version of the English breakfast. As a vegetarian, it can often be challenging to find a place that caters to my dietary preferences, but this place did not disappoint. The vegetarian English breakfast was a perfect combination of flavors and textures, and I was particularly impressed with the hash browns. They were incredibly crisp and delicious, adding a delightful crunch to the meal. The staff, earning a 4 out of 5 rating, were friendly and attentive. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made sure to accommodate any special requests. Their warm and welcoming demeanor added to the overall positive dining experience. Cleanliness was another aspect that impressed me, with the restaurant earning a 4 out of 5 rating. The tables were clean, and the dining area was well-maintained. However, the only downside was the ambience, which was a bit crowded. It can get quite busy during peak hours, resulting in a slightly noisy and bustling atmosphere. If you prefer a more relaxed and quiet dining experience, it might be best to visit during off-peak hours. In terms of value for money, this breakfast place definitely delivers. With reasonable prices and generous portion sizes, you'll leave feeling satisfied without breaking the bank. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a delicious and enjoyable breakfast experience, especially if you're a vegetarian looking for a tasty twist on the classic English breakfast.

There were three of us there, my two children and I, we ordered, I didn't pay attention to the amount, or rather I thought it would be okay with drinks... which was then deducted directly from the credit card, we have four (!) Received menus, which I definitely didn't order, but only three. The fourth one wasn't taken back, we had already thought about giving it away at the table, of course it was also charged, I also had the feeling that they were having fun with us, and the service at the table was rude about not changing that be. We would have liked to eat the additional huge portion, but the food wasn't really tasty, greasy, half-cooked French fries, hamburgers were greasy, and my older son, who always eats everything well, could only eat half of it and my fish was one Catastrophe, somehow a cold, old greasy crust, and the fish in there is very, very small, it's a great shame to have spent so much money on the wrong stall, because the entire market is so, so beautiful.. There's definitely a lot there, much better food, with nicer staff, that the tourists also took advantage of me financially

A really nice cafe in the middle of Borough Market. Had The English and it did not disappoint. Double bacon, egg, double sausage, bubble & squeak, beans, mushrooms and black podding. Come early and don’t be fooled by google saying the market is not opened until 10am. This cafe is open early. Would defo come back for breakfast. 😎

I like the revamp , first time back since the ownership change. Nice chat with Ruby ( forgiven for being a Millwall fan!) Still has a market cafe vibe, run by locals … nice and friendly service . Hotdogs were excellent… understand corn beef sandwiches are on the menu soon ! 😉

unfortunately, I can’t say I will ever come again or recommend this to anyone. I ordered at 2 PM and it took over 30 minutes for my food to come. They must have forgotten the order or something, I watched people who ordered after me get their food. quite disappointed in the fish. It was a rather large piece however, there was simply very little flavor. Also, cutting into the middle I found gooey bits, a bit unsettling. also, they supply two small packets of tartar sauce. They don’t even make their own? place was fine and the staff was nice but that’s not why you go to a restaurant.

Miejsce w samym centrum Borought Market. Jedzenie dobre i dość obfite jak na jedną osobę. Różne wersje zestawów śniadaniowych. Obsługa sympatyczna.

Amazing full English, absolutely delicious! The servers are nice, and it's right in the middle of the market. It was my first time trying a full English, and it did not disappoint!

This Gem of a cafe is located in the market. I’m an Australian and I got up early to go do borough market and experience the river cruise and was feeling like some traditional English breakfast food and this did not disappoint. Food is great! And service is great!

We had a lovely visit to Maria’s yesterday, it was lovely to meet Ruby, her mum, aunt and the rest of the team! I wanted a proper cup of tea and Panini… it was fabulous!! Whilst there I saw the breakfast, fish and chips and bangers & mash served to other customers, I’ll definitely be visiting again and I’ll be trying the Fish & Chips next!! Lovely to meet you all and thank you for a lovely afternoon ❤️❤️

A nice breakfast consisting of Egg, Bacon, Sausage, Bubble, Beans, Grilled Tomato and Mushrooms for a relatively low price (considering London’s standards). The place is tucked inside Borough Market and service is efficient and friendly. Decent price/quality relation. I think it’s a must visit if you visit the market.

Horrible experience. Very poor service. Seems fully disorganised. Wrong order. Food very average. One anaemic looking egg, cold and watery mushrooms, tasteless sausages. Had to go up to the counter to get cutlery after getting sick of waiting for waitress bring some. Got the cutlery and it wasn't clean. Waitresses too busy out the back eating. Plenty of other waaaay better options around Borrough Market.

Waited 20+ minutes for my food while sitting and watching food being served to those customers who came after me. Waitresses have no sense of which customer came first and still waiting even when they saw me on their way bringing food to other tables. I'm sure there are better places for sit down meal at the Borough Market.

Worst and most expensive breakfast I've ever had. Bubble was bland made with potatos with brocoli, which was the consistency of baby food. Black pudding was thin overcooked and resembled a crisp best thing on the plate was the sausage which I think was boiled, 2 breakfast, tea, coffee, and burnt toast £40. Don't waste your money.

Great little piece of Borough Market. A 'caff' with speedy service, and friendly staff. I wasn't keen on the bread/ toast and the coffee was average but it was about the experience. Felt very old school London. Would go back again!

I don't know why I got this deformed Fish and Chips when I visited there last week. I had the impression that some in the Kitchen were making fun of me with this. All the other white people had a normal looking long Fish and Chips. Obviously they do not care touristic customers, as they come only one time. I didn't complain about this, as I didn't want to waste energies and times. Go there with white people, if you want to get treated normally.

Ordered a full English and they forgot two of my items from it. When I raised this they did nothing about it, didn't get me the missing items or refund me for them. The quailty of food also wasn't worth the price.

Pub hasn't changed much in the last 30 years.....The place has evolved over time and not been designed in an office full of non rectangular desks and plants chosen to enhance creativity. Food more than adequate beer well kept. So what's not to like

Excellent hotel staff. The largest rooms and bathrooms of any London hotel. Suoer recommendable. The station of three to four blocks that connects with any point in London in 10 minutes
