B Street Deli in Southwark

We went there with some friends, the food was awesome, atmosphere good and the staff members were great, they recommended good wines that combined really good with the food we ate.

Absolutely loved this place! The cozy atmosphere makes it feel warm and inviting, yet even when full, it never feels overcrowded. The selection of beverages is fantastic, with something for everyone. A perfect spot to relax and unwind—I’ll definitely be coming back!

Great hot chocolate but my friend was charged with hidden costs in the menu (50p to eat in, alternative milk etc), service charge added without her consent, but not added for me. Calculated wrong and rounded up. Eat-in cost added per item, so quickly adds up. Nearly 3£ add with all the little charges.

One simply does not visit White Cube and just walk away—oh no, that would be a travesty. The atmosphere? Impeccable. The people? As curated as the art. And the refreshments? Nothing short of a masterpiece in their own right—fresh, flavourful, and utterly delightful. Whether you’re here for the art, the ambience, or just an excuse to indulge in some top-tier nibbles and drinks, B Street Deli delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend—though be warned, you may leave feeling far too sophisticated for your own good.

Food is good here, but the atmosphere is unfortunately spoiled by one male server for me. I've been 3 times recently and our friends have enjoyed the food but experience was spoiled by one member of staff who doesn't seem happy to be there and is visibly moody and unresponsive and on the my last visit seemed to make the other staff members, 2 young women, also feel uncomfortable. They were trying to cover for his less than professional attitude but couldn't actively intervene out of apparent fear of upsetting him. It's a shame.

Very bad Matcha… as a business I believe they need honest feedback on the products that they sell for almost £5. It was bad, not done properly and using very little matcha powder…

Just bumped into this amazing find in Bermondsey street. I asked for soup and a roll and was spoiled for choice so opted for the Thai chicken soup served with sourdough bread, it was amazing and will definitely go back it gets quite busy around lunch time but the staff seem to be very helpful and they were very welcoming.

I have noticed in the past that the staff use a red cutting knife - marked with a poster on the wall as ‘for raw meat only’ - to cut savory meals (e.g toasties, pre-cooked chicken). I raised this with a waitress but they didn’t seem to change anything. After my last visit to get a salad, I was hospitalized with gastroenteritis and had to take a week off work. I can’t 100% pin down the cause but given other reviews (mentioning mice running over the food) and the knife issue, it seems like they have dodgy food hygiene. Not worth the risk - could be a nice place but Bermondsey street is not lacking for choice

The staff were super friendly with recommendations and it was super tasty. Ended up being a bit more expensive than I thought it would, nevertheless 100% worth the stop!

I asked them for their vegan options, and when I asked them if their 2 salads were vegan (24th September 2024), the woman at the counter said yes. So I had a bit of both. Apart of vegan I am allergic to dairy and I had an allergic reaction; lucky for me, I am not deadly allergic. Very dangerous that someone that is selling food to the public it's aware of what they are selling, and lacks if training and awareness. With how much they charge, they should be able to get proper training. Needless to say that I would not be returning and that I don't recommend the place

Great food and drink selection but the real star of the show is Amy. She was so knowledgeable about all of the food and drink even catering to us when we asked if she could make two French 75’s. She delivered! (even though they weren’t on the menu). We need more people like this in hospitality. So kind and willing to go above and beyond for her guests!

Scandalous prices for house wine! £24 for cheap tasting wine

Nice cafe in the heart of Bermondsey. They have a great variety of sandwiches, quiche, tortilla and sweet treats. The tea they have is exceptional. The reason for 4 stars for the food was that the tortilla I had was very dry and bland. There was no salt or pepper on the tables. Prices were very reasonable though.

If you want the golden ratio of quality and atmosphere then this is the place for you. Staff will treat you with the needed seriousness and smile. Everything is top quality and the atmosphere will make you think “ok this was a good night out” when you go back home. Music is light and with the right volume so you can have a conversation. I will absolutely visit again!

Me encantaba venir aquí, pero definitivamente fue un poco cuesta abajo. El personal está en gran medida desinteresado, casi hasta el punto de ser seguro. Las últimas tres veces que he estado aquí ha habido un error - o el pedido era incorrecto o el proyecto de ley (o ambos! ) Es bastante caro sin que se le cobre demasiado también. ¡No voy a dejar de venir aquí (todavía) pero estaré viendo la factura como un halcón en el futuro!

£6 for an average bacon roll is bad enough - 50p extra for sauce is just ridiculous.

Lamentablemente la mujer que estaba sobre la mesa a mi lado (parecía ser regular de conocer a la regular con la que hablaba) estaba hablando de sus planes de viaje de hijas adultas (México creo) , y cómo la madre recibe copias de todos sus correos electrónicos sin que su hija lo sepa (además de infantilizar a su hija de una forma aparentemente controladora) - ciertamente comportamiento controlador inmoral y probablemente ilegal tanto por motivos de privacidad como de control familiar. ¡No es diferente de las relaciones de pareja! Espero un mejor vecino cliente la próxima vez.

Visited on Tuesday and spent part of early-mid afternoon sitting outside with a nicely made whipped iced coffee (a request), watching Bermondsey Street walk by. Unfortunately the woman on the table next to me (seemed to be regular of know the regular she was talking to) was talking about her adult daughters travel plans (Mexico i believe), and how the mother receives copies of all her emails without her daughter knowing (plus infantilising her daughter in an apparent controlling way)- certainly immoral controlling behaviour and likely illegal on both privacy and familial controlling grounds. Not dissimilar from partner controlling relationships!! Hope for a better customer neighbour next time

witnessed the manager (I presume because he is the only one who feels like he doesn’t need to wear an apron) drink wine behind the counter. maybe that’s why the mice in the display are there, they’re unaware and do not care. met the owner a few times. extremely rude, to say the least, especially to his own staff. owns about a dozen of restaurants in the same street, this one he seems to care about the least. avoid.

It seems constantly understaffed here, with a high staff turnover - the manager has unjustly fired multiple staff members and clearly the ones who actually know how to run the place. Mice droppings on the display, multiple people reporting salmonella after eating the sandwiches - the manager is negligent to let this continue after people have been reporting food poisoning. It was good a few years ago, but since the prices have been going up and the quality of staff has been declining I simply don’t see the point in visiting here. Maybe the owner should consider finding a manager who can adequately run the place, instead of scapegoating valuable staff for his own negligence.

I've been a regular at B Street Deli for the past 6 or so years. I've always loved the atmosphere, the quality of the food and the overall charm that this place offers. However, my last visit was disappointing: the bill was split between the group but no receipt was issued, after having paid we realised that the cost didn't really tally up. Upon asking for the receipt, we realised that the standard size platter had been charged at around £39 rather than the £34 or so as listed on the menu that I was given. Rather than refunding straight away, the employee initially was trying to tell us that the price had changed and that's why we were overcharged! Her colleague realised that this was a silly thing to do and refunded us the difference in cash (but not the service charge on it). I would have at least expected an apology to go with this refund and possibly even a free little dessert to make up for it! Having a change in prices and not updating menus is unacceptable. To top this off, the size of the standard platter has been decreasing over last couple of years, despite the price increasing. This has left me with a sour taste - B Deli, sort this out if you want to keep your regular clientele happy.

Asked for a receipt .as thought the bill didnt seem right. Charged £8.50 plus 12.5% service to handover a 330ml bottle of esrtrella. Turns out ripped us off as charged for 660mls which was not on show and wasnt ordered. When pointed out, no apology. No refund was offered.

We stumbled across this place and had a very nice lunch. It’s a cozy spot and the staff were wonderful but we really loved the tasty salads. We had a long afternoon of walking and exploring ahead of us and we left properly fueled.

By chance had three seats at the counter, always the best seats. You can watch what’s going on, look at the food and take in the atmosphere. Fantastic array of good healthy food, scotch egg, peppers, pastas and salads. Would recommend trying as everything n accompanied by good wine

I mean don't get me wrong. The deli has a nice corner bar ish vibe to sit in and have a fun breakfast with a friend or two. I went with a friend after seeing their online prices and chose to have avo toast that was priced £8.50 online and got charged £14.50 instead! Maybe I shouldn't have depended on online prices as they can be outdated, but what I was served was nothing short of daylight robbery. If I'm paying £14.50 for an avo toast and egg, I ATLEAST expect them to serve me with an actual avocado mash and not the typical store bought spread. And two whole eggs. If you see the image, it looks like a poor man's breakfast with thinly spread not fresh avocados and one small poached egg on one slice of toast for £14.50 ! Which is absolutely crazy to me

Came across this place when looking to let time pass by because of messed up trains and it made our evening a lot more pleasant. Staff was super & lovely. My bf had “the best chai latte” lol and i had a matcha which was made really well & was delicious. We also had some of their sweet treats (i forgot the name) but i’ve never tasted something like them before they were so yummy. They’ve got a wide range of selection of savoury to sweet bits and pieces. Such a cosy and intimate atmosphere too

I live and work locally and this place is cute for a glass of wine but for the prices they charge, they need to make sure that they get everything right. I ordered a small salad with chicken for almost £15 and the chicken was extremly dry and rubbery. I ended up throwing it away and when I stopped in the next day to let staff know, they did nothing about it. At these prices the service and quality of food should be top notch.

I live locally and I've been here a couple of times for coffee. On Friday night I came in to have a glass of wine with a friend and we were pushed into ordering food multiple times by one of the waiters. If you want customers to eat, then warn them when they enter that you will only accommodate people wishing to eat food and not those who only want to drink. If you grab a coffee, would you force someone to grab a pastry? The final remark from the rude waiter was: "I hope you come back and have more than a glass of wine and some olives" I won't come back.

Cosy deli with lots of choice for savoury and sweet breakfast, good coffee (Volcano beans) and friendly service. Dog friendly too. Nice relaxed vibe on Sunday morning

The people here we great and provided us with recommendations that were all fantastic. The charcuterie and cheese was solid and the drinks were good as well. The desserts were also pretty top notch. Left with free sandwiches as well which doesn't hurt.

Popped in for some lunch to take away. Was a really cold day so was tempted by the prospect of a warming Chicken Stroganoff on the specials board. Was a bit disappointed to see them pop it in the microwave, which may be unfair, but I had visualised a large pot on a hotplate somewhere! After about 5 mins, they took it out and put a rather ill-fitting, thin plastic lid on the very full container, so the sauce was spilling out the sides and difficult to get into the paper bags left on the counter for customers to pack themselves. To be fair, they did help when I asked, but the poor seal on the container also meant that the meal was tepid at best by the time I had made the 5 minute walk back to the Office. That said, the dish was tasty enough and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more had I eaten in but unfortunately they don't have enough seating. On the other hand, I did resent paying £11.50 for what was basically a microwave meal I could have picked up at Sainsbury's for £5 and eaten piping hot out of the work Microwave, although I would still have had to pack my own bag! Judging by some of the photos though, I feel like I perhaps wasn't seeing the place at its best and that it would be better experienced as an evening bistro than somewhere for a grab and go lunch, hence the 3*

Amazing ambience lovely staff lovely little place to catch up with friends or family and have a glass of wine or a coffee and something yummy to eat I had a takeout sun-dried tomato and goats cheese, toasted, baguette, my daughter had a sourdough sausage sandwich and said it was amazing. . It was all absolutely insane gorgeous. Wish I’d had more time to stay there

Would give less stars if I could. Charged double the display price for one of the cold cuts I bought. I took them home and ate them immediately, and then was out of work due to horrendous food poisoning. Extremely disappointing, it looks so inviting on an evening, but given the experience I wouldn’t risk it.

A good selection of sandwiches, treats and cakes on offer to suite a wide variety of tastes; including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Seating is available (both inside and out) but rather limited.

Always such welcoming team. The food selection is of great tatse and absolutely delicious. And well, Coffees are proper. B Street is an every day elegance. Well done.

We were staying at a hotel nearby for a few days and would come here for lunch. The salads were very fresh, creative and so tasty! The pastries were great as well. There are not a lot of seats inside. Most people seemed to get take away. I would definitely visit again!

Beautiful deli serving great coffee and cake as well as charcuterie and cheese. They also sell beautiful flower bouquets. There is seating inside and outside and is conveniently situated opposite the Fashion and Textile Museum. A great place to meet friends for lunch or coffee

They have nice tables outsife but 4.02 for a cup of coffee plus the fact that it was a terrible cappuccino as if it came from a machine drops the rating. Get your coffee right, it's key at this price.

Limited vegan options- one tart and a sausage roll. Salads are quite nice, but this place is very expensive. We got 2 salads and a sausage roll- which cost us £31!! I was really shocked at the prices.

I ordered two glasses of wine at c. £9 each. When I sat down and the wine was brought to me it was warm. I took it back asking for it to be cold. They said they’d put the bottle in the freezer. We didn’t want to wait for 20 minutes while the wine chilled as that was all we were having so I asked for a refund as we would go somewhere else. This was refused and we were passed the warm wine in paper takeaway coffee cups. I was also told that it has been in the freezer for 5 minutes (when it has only been in there for about 30 seconds). I said I didn’t not want warm wine and explained that you would expect the white wine to be cold when it arrives. One staff member then brashly asked if I knew whether it was warm when I ordered it. I explained I found out it was warm when I tasted it. She said I knew it was warm so what’s my problem. I explained that it was well known that white wine should be cold. Clearly recognising her fellow staff member was wrong, another staff member intervened saying there’s nothing they can do and all they could do was put the bottle in the freezer. She pointed to an open top fridge which was clearly not sufficient for chilling wine and said this was why it was not cold. At this moment I recognised my situation was hopeless as I was dealing with rude and uninformed staff and left. I would usually not complain about this sort of stuff but when paying close to £10 per glass (or paper cup) for wine I think it is reasonable to expect it at the right temperature. Would recommend this place is avoided.

Great little gem of a deli with a wide range of delish sandwiches, cakes and other delights. A busy place with tourists and locals rubbing shoulders inside or at the small outside sidewalk tables and chairs.

I just paid £6 for a takeaway egg mayo sandwich (over £7 to eat in!). For an expensive sandwich, I would assume it would be served on fresh bread and the filling to be ample and tasty. But sadly, this isn't the case. The bread is dry and curled up at the edges, and the filling is so disappointing. The egg mayo is unevenly seasoned. so over salted in one bite, and the next is bland. As for mayonaise - again it's hit and miss. It's spread SO thinly, really thin, that I can't even tell if there's mayonaise in here. What a disappointing, overpriced lunch. How dare a so called 'highend' Deli like B-Street be so flippant as to not taste something as simple as egg mayonaise. I really considered walking back and dropping it back on the counter in the basic brown paperbag and say I want £6 back. But sadly, I have to work, and my lunch hour is up - I wasted money and time at B-Street (I would personally give them an F-Street). This is inedible - overseasoned, dry, stale and way overpriced sandwich.

I'm a local in Bermondsey, and I've been a couple of times over the years to this cute place, mainly for a glass of wine with friends. It has always been pricey, but yesterday we paid £66 for four glasses of prosecco, a bowl of olives and padron pepper which to me is crazy.
