B Street Deli in Southwark

I mean don't get me wrong. The deli has a nice corner bar ish vibe to sit in and have a fun breakfast with a friend or two. I went with a friend after seeing their online prices and chose to have avo toast that was priced £8.50 online and got charged £14.50 instead! Maybe I shouldn't have depended on online prices as they can be outdated, but what I was served was nothing short of daylight robbery. If I'm paying £14.50 for an avo toast and egg, I ATLEAST expect them to serve me with an actual avocado mash and not the typical store bought spread. And two whole eggs. If you see the image, it looks like a poor man's breakfast with thinly spread not fresh avocados and one small poached egg on one slice of toast for £14.50 ! Which is absolutely crazy to me

Great little deli with awesome staff and delicious pastries and coffee.

I live and work locally and this place is cute for a glass of wine but for the prices they charge, they need to make sure that they get everything right. I ordered a small salad with chicken for almost £15 and the chicken was extremly dry and rubbery. I ended up throwing it away and when I stopped in the next day to let staff know, they did nothing about it. At these prices the service and quality of food should be top notch.

I live locally and I've been here a couple of times for coffee. On Friday night I came in to have a glass of wine with a friend and we were pushed into ordering food multiple times by one of the waiters. If you want customers to eat, then warn them when they enter that you will only accommodate people wishing to eat food and not those who only want to drink. If you grab a coffee, would you force someone to grab a pastry? The final remark from the rude waiter was: "I hope you come back and have more than a glass of wine and some olives" I won't come back.

The people here we great and provided us with recommendations that were all fantastic. The charcuterie and cheese was solid and the drinks were good as well. The desserts were also pretty top notch. Left with free sandwiches as well which doesn't hurt.

Popped in for some lunch to take away. Was a really cold day so was tempted by the prospect of a warming Chicken Stroganoff on the specials board. Was a bit disappointed to see them pop it in the microwave, which may be unfair, but I had visualised a large pot on a hotplate somewhere! After about 5 mins, they took it out and put a rather ill-fitting, thin plastic lid on the very full container, so the sauce was spilling out the sides and difficult to get into the paper bags left on the counter for customers to pack themselves. To be fair, they did help when I asked, but the poor seal on the container also meant that the meal was tepid at best by the time I had made the 5 minute walk back to the Office. That said, the dish was tasty enough and I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more had I eaten in but unfortunately they don't have enough seating. On the other hand, I did resent paying £11.50 for what was basically a microwave meal I could have picked up at Sainsbury's for £5 and eaten piping hot out of the work Microwave, although I would still have had to pack my own bag! Judging by some of the photos though, I feel like I perhaps wasn't seeing the place at its best and that it would be better experienced as an evening bistro than somewhere for a grab and go lunch, hence the 3*

Would give less stars if I could. Charged double the display price for one of the cold cuts I bought. I took them home and ate them immediately, and then was out of work due to horrendous food poisoning. Extremely disappointing, it looks so inviting on an evening, but given the experience I wouldn’t risk it.

A good selection of sandwiches, treats and cakes on offer to suite a wide variety of tastes; including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Seating is available (both inside and out) but rather limited.

Always such welcoming team. The food selection is of great tatse and absolutely delicious. And well, Coffees are proper. B Street is an every day elegance. Well done.

We were staying at a hotel nearby for a few days and would come here for lunch. The salads were very fresh, creative and so tasty! The pastries were great as well. There are not a lot of seats inside. Most people seemed to get take away. I would definitely visit again!

Beautiful deli serving great coffee and cake as well as charcuterie and cheese. They also sell beautiful flower bouquets. There is seating inside and outside and is conveniently situated opposite the Fashion and Textile Museum. A great place to meet friends for lunch or coffee

Lovely place. It's small and cozy and has a great atmosphere. The owner is a lovely lady that is very kind, welcoming and caring with all the customers. Ideal place for a wine and a shared plateau or for mini brunch. Will become a regular customer for sure

The staff and food were fantastic! We got a bottle of pinot noir and the cheese board and both delivered. The atmosphere and location are top notch. Will definitely be seeking it out again especially when I have out of town visitors!

Gorgeous venue, mind blowing produce and carefully curated cheeseboards. Staff are lovely, ambience is spot on. It's such a treat to come here!

They have nice tables outsife but 4.02 for a cup of coffee plus the fact that it was a terrible cappuccino as if it came from a machine drops the rating. Get your coffee right, it's key at this price.

One of the only places nearby to get a salad, even if they’re only dressed in boring olive oil and underseasoned. Also a salad with meat is £13.50 takeaway, so insane!

Limited vegan options- one tart and a sausage roll. Salads are quite nice, but this place is very expensive. We got 2 salads and a sausage roll- which cost us £31!! I was really shocked at the prices.

I ordered two glasses of wine at c. £9 each. When I sat down and the wine was brought to me it was warm. I took it back asking for it to be cold. They said they’d put the bottle in the freezer. We didn’t want to wait for 20 minutes while the wine chilled as that was all we were having so I asked for a refund as we would go somewhere else. This was refused and we were passed the warm wine in paper takeaway coffee cups. I was also told that it has been in the freezer for 5 minutes (when it has only been in there for about 30 seconds). I said I didn’t not want warm wine and explained that you would expect the white wine to be cold when it arrives. One staff member then brashly asked if I knew whether it was warm when I ordered it. I explained I found out it was warm when I tasted it. She said I knew it was warm so what’s my problem. I explained that it was well known that white wine should be cold. Clearly recognising her fellow staff member was wrong, another staff member intervened saying there’s nothing they can do and all they could do was put the bottle in the freezer. She pointed to an open top fridge which was clearly not sufficient for chilling wine and said this was why it was not cold. At this moment I recognised my situation was hopeless as I was dealing with rude and uninformed staff and left. I would usually not complain about this sort of stuff but when paying close to £10 per glass (or paper cup) for wine I think it is reasonable to expect it at the right temperature. Would recommend this place is avoided.

Great little gem of a deli with a wide range of delish sandwiches, cakes and other delights. A busy place with tourists and locals rubbing shoulders inside or at the small outside sidewalk tables and chairs.

I just paid £6 for a takeaway egg mayo sandwich (over £7 to eat in!). For an expensive sandwich, I would assume it would be served on fresh bread and the filling to be ample and tasty. But sadly, this isn't the case. The bread is dry and curled up at the edges, and the filling is so disappointing. The egg mayo is unevenly seasoned. so over salted in one bite, and the next is bland. As for mayonaise - again it's hit and miss. It's spread SO thinly, really thin, that I can't even tell if there's mayonaise in here. What a disappointing, overpriced lunch. How dare a so called 'highend' Deli like B-Street be so flippant as to not taste something as simple as egg mayonaise. I really considered walking back and dropping it back on the counter in the basic brown paperbag and say I want £6 back. But sadly, I have to work, and my lunch hour is up - I wasted money and time at B-Street (I would personally give them an F-Street). This is inedible - overseasoned, dry, stale and way overpriced sandwich.

I'm a local in Bermondsey, and I've been a couple of times over the years to this cute place, mainly for a glass of wine with friends. It has always been pricey, but yesterday we paid £66 for four glasses of prosecco, a bowl of olives and padron pepper which to me is crazy.

An order of 2 green teas defeat the staff! The 5 (!) people behind the small counter of this otherwise pleasant deli, just couldn’t be bothered to remember our very simple order. I had to go to the counter and remind them to serve us! Sloppy service!!! No Stars!

Lovely cute place. Good wine, delicious scotch egg and salad. Very expensive for what it is. Wine served in water glasses due to having 4 glasses for wine: considering wine is one of the two main items they sell at over 10£ a glass, an investment in wine glasses would be expected.

The first time I went I bought a delicious sandwich towards the end of the day and the service was really friendly. Today they only had one type of sandwich left and the young woman behind the counter was unhelpful, bordering on hostile. It's a shame, I'm a creature of habit and had decided after last time to always get a sandwich from there on my way home from London Bridge.

We ordered breakfast and lunch for a very important meeting of Ceos and directors. I went in at 8.30, and the poor young lady was told to have it ready for 10.00 but she accommodated me and did her very best to provide as much lovely food as she could. Then went back for sandwiches and salads, the team loved the food.

Life is good, and this crowded expensive busy little deli reminds you why. Friendly service, amazing cakes and pastries, the best scotch eggs, good coffee and fine wines. And then there are the astoundingly morish Caneles oh my God...🙏🏼 And there is so much more. Yes it is pricey. But it's worth every penny.

This place was nice and cosy and helped we with an early morning fix of breakfast (cheese and ham croissant) and a rare mocha from my tiredness of a study weekend. Glad it was open on a Sunday morning!!

Intimate little deli. Popped in for a beer as the pubs in the vicinity don't open until 12 noon. Friendly service. They have an extensive wine list....so we had a bottle before taking lunch across the road! Interestingly, they sell free range eggs too.

The goat cheese sandwich is very nice, but the avocado with tomato is okay, the flat white coffee is pretty good, and the staff is friendly

Great place, a good rands if food and wine. However, it often seems understaffed. Service can be super slow at busy times.

We ordered 2 pastel de natas, asked for them to be heated for takeaway. Took ages to get served, then ages again to wait for the pastels 15 mins to get 2 items for taking away! After all that - they were still cold inside. They were still delicious - but this could have easily been such a better experience with some customer service and some thought!

One of the best lunch places around, especially for vegetarian options.

I've been sitting here for over 30 minutes, and my table is the only one not taking orders.

Fantastic atmosphere and the cured meats were delicious. The guy who prepared our board and served as wine, who I assume is the owner, was great and really passionate about the deli! Would definitely recommend it for amazing food and excellent vibes.

I feel I need to warn you all that a large salad with chicken in this place is around £15 quid for takeaway. £15. Fifteen pounds sterling. They don't tell you that when you walk in. There's no sign saying "our salads are strictly for high rollers, proceed at your own financial risk". There's no pricing on the counter, I guess for the same reason that no-one puts pricing on a super-yacht. Instead, you enter with whatever expectations you have as to how much a salad could reasonably cost, (even on Bermondsey Street) and then you have those expectations set alight in front of you by the man with the card machine. It was a delicious salad in fairness...a little salty mind, but that's probably because of my tears.

We turned up because we thought the museum across the road was open (it was not) -but happily we were able to come upon this café! It was pretty crowded but we found some seats. The variety of food was excellent! I had a filled croissant and padron peppers. My friends had cakes. We all had coffee. It was all excellent. I was glad the museum was shut so we could eat here!!

Cosy little place with great wine, coffee and pastriries (caneles). It's decoration is warm and inviting, specially in Christmas. There is not too many seats, but the outside tables are amazing. It's a little pricey but its quality is so high.

Absolutely the only thing wrong with this place is that it’s so damn small. Excellent coffee, brilliant delicatessen food, lovely staff, clientele who guard it like the secret of the gods themselves. Yes it’s London prices, but it is not premium London prices. Surrounded by amazing views and architecture, snuggled in a real community. It’s a brilliant and wonderful place but you will get jostled and you may find an elbow in your ear because it is so small.

We stumbled on this place last night and grabbed the last outside table. And what a joy! It was like a small piece of New York in Bermondsey. We drank great wine, shared a delicious platter of cheese and antipasti and watched the world go by. The service, from Lorna in particular, was top notch. There's an art to balancing professional and friendly service and Lorna manages it effortlessly. We'll be back.

This is a lovely cafe, with warm, cosy decor. The pastries and sandwiches are high quality. The caneles are definitely worth a try. Even though there are not too many seats, there is nearly always place on the counter.

Wonderful little bar in the heart of London Bridge. Great atmosphere, amazing platters and good service. Particularly impressed by our waitress Annastasia, great service with a smile and attention to detail. Will be back next week

Great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch.. street corner location with nicely buzzing atmosphere. Recommend the lovely sourdough toast/bruschetta with poached egg, avocado and rocket; followed by a pot of Greek yoghurt with fresh fruit and honey nut granola, or one of the finest almond croissants known to humanity - And great coffee!

Cappuccino was essentially a really strong espresso with LOTS of froth on top. Buckets of flowers, which looked nice obstructed the entrance. Outside table was stationed by a resident's front door, he wasn't happy asking us to move..

This place is really cute in Bermondsey street however the food was beyond average and nothing special, I wouldn’t go back running, everything was cold, staff looked uninterested

Horrible experience in this establishment. We wanted to have some cake and tea. I asked a waiter whether this was possible and he agreed. After sitting down, another waiter (a gentleman with short dark hair and glasses) informed us that we couldn't have any tea due to the hot drinks station being closed. Moreover since we only intended to stay for cake and no alcohol - he stipulated that we would have to leave as we wouldn't be spending a sufficient amount to justify occupying a seat. For context, the bar had 6 unoccupied seats. I have no intention of returning to this place based on the rudeness and ill treatment we received. Do not recommend for non-drinkers.
