Butlers Wharf Chop House in Southwark

I do not know what the policy is in this store, which prohibits bringing any outside drinks, even if they are soft drinks, and they are not available in the store at all. It is a disrespectful policy and does not respect customers. I am with my friends and they ordered coffee, and I only have my own Red Bull!!!

Very tasty food served by very friendly staff with a direct view of Tower Bridge. If possible, we would like to come back.

First time visited but was delighted by the food. The oysters were fresh and the Tomahawk beef was wonderful. It fit wonderfully with the shrimp and the meat was cooked to perfection. Staff was great and the view completed the perfect night I had.

Yummy!! Great place, nice people. In fact, everyone we came across while in London was so pleasant, polite .. We were referred to as madame and sir... everywhere we went. The prices seemed to be cheaper or comparable. to places in the usa. We are from the States, and you never know how you will be treated.

Ed was an incredible manager and he went above and beyond for us and our little dog. A true gentleman and he was so helpful with all of our needs. We would come back simply because of him!

The only thing better than the food were the staff. Final night in London and we returned for a second meal. They gave us a proper celebratory send-off. Cheers !

We ordered two filets for our table. They came out and looked delicious and thick. They were grossly undercooked and came out rare. They were sent back and were burnt on the one side we had cut through originally and still rare on the other side. When we finally took a bite it had no flavor other than charred/burnt. Disappointing for our final dinner in London. Next time we visit the city we definitely won’t visit this restaurant again!

28/2/2024-Wednesday. My husband gave me a surprise lunch on our wedding anniversary to this restaurant. This is our 1st visit. The restaurant looking outside view was astonishing. Inside the restaurant will very cosy & private atmosphere. Thank you very much to the servers who give an excellent service. The food is exquisite, especially both our steaks. One is the sirloin steak, one is lamb Chop. They were perfectly done to excellent taste. We would definitely be coming back to this restaurant. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The best fish and chips(fried potatoes)we’ve had ever in London. The price was relatively high though, the location was very good and the food was hot and wonderfully served.

Good service very average food. £28 pie was dry & pastry undercooked. Chips also undercooked. £230 for 3 people I wouldn't go again.

You're better off going to Blacklock for better meat dishes without the tourist price up. If you do want views of the Thames and Tower Bridge and are willing to pay for it the food is OK although we waited for over half an hour on a fairly quiet Wednesday night.

Celebrate a friend’s zero birthday at this brilliant restaurant. Thank you. Ed and the team were fantastic and made our visit and celebrations very special. We all had a fabulous time. Excellent food, hospitality, cocktails and wine. Hope to see you again soon.

Having arrived at 9pm on a Thursday evening we were told by a member of staff that the kitchen was shutting! Having dined here a number of times in the past this seemed a very strange way to be running a business on a busy day of the week. There was no apology of any sort. We went to The Ivy instead and had a great meal. I doubt we will be returning here.

Great steak and view of Tower Bridge. Friendly helpful staff open to helping with discounts and gave a great wine recommendation. Only draw back - not my greenery in the menu. No green salad or green beans, only option is spinach.

Decided to try this out as friends had recommended it. Service was fabulous - from coat check in to seating and ordering. Food was fabulous - very tasty BUT totally overpriced for what you got. Didn’t realize mains came with nothing. 1 chop on the plate so then had to order some sides. Very expensive experience and one I could not repeat for a while.

I wrote to the manager to express my disappointment following the meal experience at the restaurant. The problem was the waiter cleared the starter course and managed to drop the cutlery which in turn broke the glass and spilled water over one of my customers. There were glass fragments all over the table, It was a clumsy accident which we downplayed at the time, but I was embarrassed for my two customers! The evening was also spoilt by a young family with young children crawling under the tables, I know that’s very difficult for you to control but they were completely out of control. What grated on me was receiving the bill with 13% service charge. The Manager confirmed he would reimburse the service charge a few days later, haven't heard anything since. Very poor form if you ask me!

Not happy one little bit. As soon as our waiter came over to take our order he asked could we order our starters & mains at the same time. I assume this was because our table was booked for 9pm. We obliged and didn’t have to wait to long. My mushrooms on sourdough bread wasn’t that great, the bread was really tough to chew. I also asked the waiter for some olives to which he replied that they’ve ran out of ??? Is there a national olive shortage at the moment ??? No doubt they will blame the suppliers. We then ordered the sirloin steak for mains, which was good but the choice of side dishes being very limited. Gave me the impression of a company which has been set up in the location that it is to take your money but doesn’t really care about your experience as they mostly serve tourists I’d imagine. I never want to set foot in this establishment again. The waiters were ok, but some was dressed like they’d just finished a shift in McDonalds. I especially like our waiter who explained to me when he served the rest of my party that mine had been dropped on the floor, but continued to put my side order of chips & mushrooms in front of me whilst I had to wait another 5 minutes for my steak to arrive whilst everyone else ate theirs. One Saturday night I’ll never forget. Awful place. Maximum profit & minimum outlay. Just to add our table of 5 spent £500 on our visit.

Went this weekend for a nice family meal! This used to be a really great restaurant but we was all very disappointed this weekend! The waiting staff are really good we have no complaints there but the food was below poor! The liver needs to be taken off the menu, I’d say it was one of the worst things I’ve put into my mouth, I know that’s extreme but it’s absolutely awful. I told the staff but I was told they have had many complaints but this how it’s meant to be cooked??? If there’s lots of complaints why keep on the menu? Overall I’d avoid, i wish I went to the burger stalls instead!

I arrived 30 mins early and was given our 4 top without issue. Now FYI..it's tough to find entrance if you don't know as it's on Riverwalk. My waiter immediately suggested a beer as I had walked from Waterloo in rain as traffic was awful. IPA revived me. Sausage roll made me happy. Service totally on point entire evening. My friends had. duck tart and strak tartare. Both delicious. The steak and ale pudding was a standout classic winner. Gravy was superb and thin chips were phenomenal. Far too full for dessert tempting though ..eaton mess. I have been here on and off for 30 years now I think. Never let me down. Go in summer sit outside withriver view.

Visited recently for a private event. The service was top notch, much faster and personal than any of the 5 * hotels. Food and Ambience was good. The view of the London bridge during night is a view not to be missed.

Absolutely love this place. The food was first class and the staff so friendly but always knowing to give you enough space. My wife had haddock and chips whilst I had sirloin steak with creamy mash, delicious creamed spinach and a gorgeous brandy gravy. Good portions and very well cooked food. I would highly recommend!

The Sirloin steak is awesome! The fish is fresh but lesser flavour to It! Overall service is great! The view and atmosphere in the restaurant is good too!!

An excellent Sunday lunch with some friends. The service from Bart and all the staff was first class and the dinner delicious. I had the roast beef which was cooked to perfection. Cocktails great.

Three star place with 4 star pretensions,,, very slow service -took nearly an hour to get the food, was average really… Can’t recommend

9 of use had dinner and 8 of them, where very good. Except we where only given 2 plates of mix vegetables between 7 main meals and had to ask for more. The main problem was, my daughter asked for a well done cheese burger with large chips. They served her fish fingers and we said that was not what she ordered, they brought it back again and placed the same fish fingers in front of her, I had to firmly say no and informed them she ordered a cheese burger. The cheese burger arrived some time later, middium rare. Again I had to inform them that she wanted it well done. They took it away and re-cooked the same burger, so it was cooked in the middle and charred on the edges, she cldnt finish it because it was burned on the edges. We know it was re-cooked because she had originally cut the burger in half and it came back with a new roll and the 2 half peices of burger inside. Other wise we had a lovely meal, well at least 8 of us did, but my lasting memory is the re-cooked burger, which my daughter had endure.

Beautiful setting, divine food, impeccable service. Extensive cocktail menu, 10/10. On a return visit, food was still great, but service was poor. We were ignored, and unable to order anymore drinks. The bill took a while to arrive. Will not return.

Very disappointed. Ordered the Sunday roast. Tiny thin slices of beef. Huge dried up yorkshire pudding. Roast potatoes were rock hard. I thought maybe it was just sitting out too long so Ill cover it in warm gravy. The gravy was luke warm and went cold within minutes. It was birthday dinner so couldnt make a fuss but what were they goona do anyway recook the whole thing. It was 3pm when we arrived but if you're just gonna serve us left overs from the main lunch why bother keep doing Sunday Roast. We spent over £300 with wine. Will not be back. Place wasnt busy I can see why.

Butlers Wharf offers some of the best views of the Tower Bridge for steak and fish lovers. I personally strongly recommend their burgers, super tasty!

Give this place a try! Visited last night via the time out promotion and left impressed. The best dinner view in London? Service was excellent. Set menu was excellent, simplistic but well thought out and executed. Would recommend the burger and/or fish and chips. Will be back and will update my review on return.

Such a great spot along the Thames, fantastic decor and very helpful and friendly staff. We sat outside and it was a great atmosphere. Menu was very good and we shared some starters. All food was delicious as were the drinks.

We had a booking here using a virgin experience voucher we were given as a gift, if you have one yourself then please note the menu choice is much smaller than the regular, I’m quite a fussy eater and had to opt for the steak with a side of chips, we asked if we could order off the main menu but was told No, ( we were willing to pay but think the server thought we wanted it as part of the voucher) we didn’t take any starter or dessert due to the small variety on offer, 1 bottle of Prosecco was also included but we don’t drink this either, On the plus side the service was exceptional ! We were offered a bottle of house red in exchange for the Prosecco & any other drinks we ordered which we should of paid for were generously included for free as we had not had starters or dessert, we sat outside with a beautiful view of London Bridge, We would visit again purely for the outstanding service from all the staff and we would like to try some of the offerings available on the main menu, don’t hesitate to book you will not be disappointed.

This is a maxied review. Our waiter Francesco was fantastic insaving the evening and apologising for the food but ultimately £28.00 for an overcooked pork chop the size of the palm of my girlfriends hand is not acceptable. I have been going to Chop House for years, great location, great service, but the portions size compared to the price is ridiculous - and I am not a big eater at all. A real shame. The kitchen has to look at what they hand out, again thanks to Fancesco for apologising and making the evening a pleasure but they need to sort the food if they want to charge those prices.

We’ve been here a few times and always sit outside! The views of Tower Bridge are phenomenal! Great food - we were two couples and had the Chateaubriand with all the trimmings. Absolutely gorgeous. Great wine menu too and a fantastic way to spend a sunny afternoon. On this occasion I’d say the only thing that really let it down for us was the service - sadly I don’t think there were sufficient staff on to look after the outside tables so we had to chase wine order and bernaise sauce a few times. The service charge here though - 13.5% - seems pretty eye watering even for London. So when you are paying a service charge like that then the service really should be first class. Other than that though - a really great restaurant.

You obviously pay for the view and location. I had hoped that the food would be at least above average but it was hanging precariously on average. The fish and chips (at 20£) was tasteless with dry and crusty mushy peas. The kids cheese burger was dry and served with a sauce on it that was not on the menu so we didn’t know to ask for it without. The 32£ sirloin Sunday Roast was also nothing to be excited for. The service was good and quick and the staff were friendly and kind. Just be ready to be underwhelmed by the food and overwhelmed by the prices.

If you want to live. You go to butlers chophouse. You order the 400g ribeye chop (medium) with a side of mash, mushrooms and broccoli. You top it off with an old fashioned (Redbreast 16years) and then you die.

The saying goes when the view is great you can be blinded by how ordinary the food is. Well not here! Perfect view of the Tower Bridge, the food is perfect and service is hard to fault. I had the fillet medium rare and the only issue was it had to end! Would highly recommend this place and go as far as to say it is one of the finest I’ve had in London.

Our waiter Joe was excellent, he provided very attentive service to our large table of 14. Absolutely great service. Ate here twice over the weekend. On both occasions the staff were very attentive and friendly. The first time the food was ok and we thought we'd come back for the Sunday roast. Big mistake: cold, dry and bland. The couple at the next table said to waiter whilst he was clearing away that it was "the worst roast" he'd ever eaten. Whether it was that bad depends on what you've eaten in the past, but suffice to say, we wont be going back. 3/5 because the staff and the wine were good, otherwise we would have dropped a point.
