We had booked this online via their website as had some vouchers but I didn't get a confirmation email so rang several times to confirm booking and was told it was OK. Got there, no booking and they were full. Not a good start and was one very unhappy customer however the team leader (Pramodh) totally turned this experience around, found us a table and the food (which was lovely and hot) and service was fantastic. He provided such good customer service service and avoided a complaint. His manner was great he was friendly, polite and he made sure we were well looked after. Thanks to Pramodh i would definitely recommend this restaurant and would go back. He is a credit to the restaurant

Came for afternoon tea with my husband using a voucher. Initially we were seen and attended to very quickly and shown to our seats with the offer of the prosecco so far so good. However, we were extremely disappointed at the selection of our afternoon tea alongside some of the utensils. We could tell it was a busy day as others were eating in the restaurant but a quick check to make sure cleaning products were put away and the cleanliness of the cutlery makes all the difference. I know other places top up the scones and sandwiches once they run low, but there was no offer of that nor were we offered water like other tables. The scones were lovely and we could have had more of this. The sandwich collection wasn't great and preferably these should have been cut triangular to make it feel more presentable. It felt like once we had been served we were left to it and there was no check in to see if everything was enjoyable or we needed anything else. We had high expectations unfortunately this did not live up to the hype.

Service was terrible, 4 different servers when the restaurant was almost completely bare, me and my family had to ask for things at least twice before they came including things like steak knifes with our steaks which I thought would be obvious. Servers were extremely inattentive and didn’t understand the simplest of things. Bar staff were incompetent and couldn’t even make the simplest of drinks such as a mojito or peach Bellini. Will not be coming back.

Luckily this was a free gift given to us, if it hadn't of been we would of probably of left upon entering. Restaurant atmosphere is very weird and unbefitting of the hotel it is in. Music that makes you feel like you're on hold to a Mediterranean bank and tacky tems that wouldn't look out of place in the range. The staff whilst nice and polite never once offered us a different drink that we would of more then happily added to our bill, it did feel a bit like " well your just voucher guests so you won't want anything else" - we would of liked a nice bottle of wine but you missed out on the upsell The food was bland boring and tasteless, did Marco have any say in this? Nachos with horrid cheese sauce, Wings that wouldn't look out of place in Wether spoons and a Bolognese that had about as much meat as Kate Moss. The cheesecake was delightful however. It's a shame as we have been to the other Marco Pierre White restaurant before and it was much better all round

We had a voucher for a 3 course meal and a bottle of prosecco. We received a warm welcome and were directed to the lobby whilst waiting for our table. Beautiful decor and whilst we were happy to sit in there we were soon shown to our table. Yes the menu was different for those with a voucher but it still had plenty of choice. Our server Ben was very attentive and on hand if we had any questions. All courses were extremely tasty, presented well and we left there full. Would highly recommend

Went to Marco Pierre Whites with a Buy a Gift voucher. What a waste of money. We were aat in an area away from other guests, which we called the voucher area (or the cheap seats). The area had no Atmosphere, music or anything to make it feel special, just a standard restaurant. The waiter gave us our glass of Prosecco but did not offer any water or the main drinks menu. We had to ask for this on one of his rare visits to the voucher section. The restaurant says it’s a New York Style Italian, more or an American Diner. Nachos, Ribs Chicken wings and salad as a starter is hardly Italian. The mains did have Pasta options or a burger. If you want the Steak on the set menu it will cost £10.50. Good selection of sides if you like chips in many variations. If not there is a Garlic bread, onion rings or Salad. Ribs were tasty but came from the smallest pig on earth and had more rocket than meat. The chicken wings again were tasty but small with a generous side of raw celery. It did look like Celery with a side of Wings. Then there was the pasta, bolognese with a small amount of Parmesan (did not get offered extra) and the Chicken Milanese is just an overcooked piece of chicken on a bed of under seasoned penne pasta in a tomato sauce. An insult to lovers of Italian food. You could make the same with a jar of pasta sauce and a Bernard Matthew Turkey steak. Desserts were good but it’s hard to mess up a tiramisu and an ice cream. Best part is we had a 10% service charge added to the bill for our 1 drink each and garlic bread. Long story short, don’t bother!!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. Didn't stay the night but had a meal in the restaurant. The lobby is a unique style with gorgeous deep greens and plants around the windows, truly a lovely place to sit and relax with a drink from the (average price for a hotel, nothing too expensive) bar in the corner. Illuminated by brightly coloured neon lights around the whole lobby and interesting brick work. I enjoyed the lobby experience. The restaurant was just as appealing to the eyes and the staff were quick and very attentive. Once we ordered, the food was quick to come. I was actually surprised at how prompt the starters were delivered to the table. Staff were friendly and easy to grab when we wanted more water or other questions. Portion sizes were also very generous, we were absolutely stuffed by the end of it and went in starving! I definitely recommend a visit to this place if you're in the vicinity of the Shard / London Bridge Station(15 mins walk)

Really poor afternoon tea. Sandwiches were stale and the macaron/scone very dry as if they had been left on the side for ages. Tea was only provided after we had eaten our sandwiches/cakes and only after we chased. My wife ordered a gluten free afternoon tea. Sandwiches again were dry, 3 small pieces of cake (but 2 were the same) but came without a cream scone and the macaron despite us being told it be accomodated for. These were replaced by a small bowl of fruit (6 pieces of mainly melon). The woman next to us had ordered a dairy free cream tea which consisted of a couple of sandwiches, a brownie and the fruit. No alternative milk could be provided. Would have refused to pay if we had not got this through a voucher.

Went for afternoon tea and was very disappointed. We arrived at 2pm (our booked slot) and were told to wait in a large sitting area with sofas. This was also full of people just looking around and confused. After 15 mins I went up to a member of staff and asked “what are we waiting for?” He then said your table is ready and took us into a large room of tables. We were put in the corner and ignored. After a 20 min wait in this room someone came over with our afternoon tea- it’s served on a slate plater. I asked if we could possibly have a drink? We were asked what we would like? But as we didn’t know what the options were we just said errr tea?? Food was underwhelming, nothing special. 3 small puddings each and 1 macaroon which tasted straight out of the fridge. Would not recommend.

STAFF TRIED THEIR BEST BUT .... This is a bland, soulless restaurant that didn’t provide a decent service because it was understaffed. I've given 3 stars for service but it comes with a caveat: the service we received was in some ways very poor, but the overworked staff tried their best in very difficult circumstances and individually they were very good. We arrived on time but waited 15 minutes to be received and seated, standing in a queue running from the reception desk to the entrance door, down stairs wet from the rain outside. Once seated we were promptly given a glass of fizz but then waited over half an hour for anyone to take our order. There weren't enough staff, perhaps due to supply and demand in the labour market. This was not the fault of the staff and none of them deserved the abuse doled out by some of the customers. Were I a restaurant manager I'd be reluctant to close the place any given night due to having too few staff members, but if you can't provide a proper offering surely it needs to be considered? Were I a celebrity chef I'd be reluctant to continue lending my name to the bland fare served up on our visit. My bbq ribs were ok but nothing special. My companion's starter was a bowl if tomatoes with a but of onion. The chicken Milanese was bland and microwavey. The spaghetti bolognese was tasteless and unappetising. The cheesecake was soggy and insipid. The interior was corporate and chain-like. This meal was purchased as part of a Virgin Experiences package that includes a trip up The Shard. Perhaps we should have checked the distance from The Shard, as we were surprised to discover it involves a 15 minute walk.

Sadly our experience was poor. The restaurant itself is nice, not too noisy, good setting, great first impression. However, the food took an unacceptable amount of time from ordering to be served (45 minutes). The food itself was, in main, ok but nothing special. One of the dishes, a rigatoni dish, was bland. As with some of the other restaurants in the chains of famous chefs, the more informal establishments seem to too often trade off the name rather than deliver a good all round experience that you’d want to repeat. Patrons are not expecting the incredible experience and food of the formal and original restaurants that you pay significantly more for, but nor should your experience be poorer than a good gastro pub or restaurant not linked to a famous brand. A shame. Other diners perhaps had more positive experiences.

We were gifted a buyagift experience for Marco Peire White Resturant in Lavington Street London. We ordered pre-dinner drinks, a glass of Pimms each, which was served with ice but no garnish, basically a small shot of pimms from a bottle with lemonade. Starters were OK. For mains we paid a £10.95 supplement for the Sirloin Steak dish that consisted of Steak, tomatoes and chips, anything else was extra. The steaks were very slow arriving and when they arrived we were very disappointed. They were very tough, made worse by blunt Steak knifes. My partner managed to consume hers but half of mine was inedible being mainly grissle. My partner stated that she had better steaks at wetherspoons for only the price of the supplement we paid. For pudding we opted for the tiramasu. Nothing wrong with it, but looked and tasted like shop bought. If you are reading this, Mr. Peire White I suggest you get down there and sort it out. I decided to order pizza as a safe bet but I’ve had better frozen pizzas in a microwave NO blooming JOKE. Then came the cheese cake - was the final insult. Tastes of nothing. I’d have a better time chewing a travel card. You guys plonked us in what was the hotel breakfast bar by the cutlery drawers which set the scene for a basic eve. Zero vibes. Your staff struggled to answer simple questions such as “is the pasta dry?”….. answer was yes of course. Don’t even serve chilli oil with pizza. Sandwiches were tasteless and bland. Crockery dated, poor quality and heavily chipped. My fiancée had literally cucumber and avocado on dried up bread, a small bowl of fruit and one small cube of vegan cake. We explained it was dairy free not vegetarian that she wanted. The manager didn’t seem to offer any apologies and brought out a few more sandwiches with some processed ham but no mayonnaise or mustard! He said that mustard had dairy in it which we just laughed! We visited on a Friday night, booked in advance as my son bought me a Buyagift voucher for it. Looked forward to some good food which in all honesty, we got. The voucher entitled us to a 3 course meal (from a select menu) and a glass of fizz. Neither of us drink fizz so we swapped for orange juice. There were about 4 choices of each starter, main and pudding. Steak was an extra cost as were any sides. We had to wait a while to get our starter but as we arrived a bit early, we werent too bothered. We did have to ask for a drinks menu and again we had to wait a while to receive them. There seemed to be enough staff but none of them were looking to see if anyone needed anything. Having received our starters just before 7, we had to ask a second time where our 2nd round of drinks and main course were about an hour later. Desert followed without us having any further interaction with our server. Apart from the food itself I was disappointed, I expected better service from such a big name restaraunt. I know Marco doesnt cook there but his name is on the door. We werent asked if we enjoyed the meal, or if we wanted more drinks and there was very little atmosphere. I would be interested to see what the service is like if you are eating from the main menu. Though I wont be trying it out.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our experience yesterday for the Afternoon Tea, the service was very slow, and it took almost 30 minutes before i got a pot of tea to go with our Afternoon Tea. The amount of food you get for the price, is actually a joke. Marco Pierre White - you need to sort this out! The food quality wasn't great - the sandwiches were filled sparsely, and the ham tasted sour/off. The cakes were the best thing on offer, but i have had better afternoon teas for similar price. Won't be returning, and i wouldn't recommend.

Food was lovely. Nothing wrong with the food whatsoever. We had a voucher from BuyAGift for a three course meal and a bottle of fizz. The set menu was very limited and you had to pay for extras. The staff were really nice but very quiet and timid, socially awkward but accommodating. There was 0 atmosphere! Probably because it’s linked with a hotel. No music. Barely any people in there yet we struggled to get a booking in the first place. Only went because we had a voucher, probably wouldn’t go back again. But the food was amazing!

Just eaten at the restaurant and although we were expecting the worst, after reading the reviews we were relieved to find it a very average experience dining here. The service was OK, there were only two members of staff serving but they did a fair job. We opted to play it safe after reading the reviews and went for nachos starter and burger main, hoping they couldn't mess those up and to be fair they didn't. The restaurant itself is just like a generic Premier inn type hotel dining area with not a lot to differentiate it from any other hotel dining area. It even has the coffee machines for the breakfast serving, despite being "hidden" behind a frayed roller blind. This is not a restaurant to visit to celebrate an occasion or even one to go out of your way for. If you were staying at the Mercure hotel, where the restaurant is situated, you may have a meal there if you didn't want to go out, but as there is plenty of choice in the local area I doubt it. An incredibly bland restaurant with average food, definitely not worth a revisit.

Received a voucher for Afternoon Tea. Upon arrival, we were shown to our table and left to wait 30 minutes. The restaurant was not busy. Then our food was brought out with no questions about allergies. The bread on the sandwiches was hard and had clearly been left out in the kitchen all morning. The plates were chipped. The sandwiches were tasteless. The scones and cakes were nice. I would not recommend.

On arrival we were the only ones there, going into the restaurant, seated, the view of New York signs etc were lovely, outside paint shocked us and we thought we were at the wrong venue, we go to Marco Pierre Whites all over often, don’t normally see one of his restaurant look like it needs a repaint or look so filthy on the outside.. inside decorated lovely tho! As we sat there, its like someone opened the doors, then 6 other tables were taken, then we started to see 3 tables get their food slates and teas with Prosecco, and we still sat there, abit disappointed as we were the first seated, then I’d said to my partner normally they would speak to us, and I’d remind them I’d messaged in the booking that my partner is lactose intolerant so they would do slightly different variation on his food (e.g remove cream cheese on the cream cheese and salmon sandwich) oak milk, and I would say I don’t drink Tea but can I have a coffee please.. noted! But without saying a word, they planted the sandwiches down, at this point which side is lactose free and he said ‘oh I don’t know’ and took it away.. he came back and said they removed the soft cheese that side.. all looked lovely, bread definitely abit dry, as picked up felt like it had been left out in air without packaging, for a Marco Pierre White restaurant he wouldn’t be happy! Staff hardly spoke unlike other of his restaurants, and to be honest if this was our first experience of a Marco Pierre White restaurant we would never go to another! Some improvements needed to keep up with his other restaurants.. food looked lovely on arrival and I was given a cup of coffee as I don’t drink tea..

I'm Italo-Argentinean, so I grew up eating Italian food and steaks. This was the worst I've eaten in a so-called good restaurant in London: stingy in size, dry, with nerves, cooked to a point I hadn't specified - I had clearly said "medium-rare: not raw but with blood". It was small, full of salt and pepper - so that you don't taste the quality of the meat - and dry. This was the worst by far. The tiramisu isn't tiramisu, please, Marco Pierre White, if you don't want to spend on mascarpone and the original biscuits that are used in different parts of Italy, don't offer it. Stay with what you know. Brownies? You can always find a good Italian Lemon ice-cream provider. Other things that were terrible for a Chef's restaurant: the tables are next to one another as if it was a cheap canteen in which others can hear everything you say. The coffee is terrible. I feel sorry for the poor guys who serve there (all Asian? There's no Italians to make the restaurant more genuine and give you feedback before you embarrass yourself?), the guys working there were nice. The toilets were clean. The hotel reception is interesting. But Marco Pierre White is now synonymous with ripping off tourists in London.

We went as we had a buy a gift voucher for three courses - reading other reviews since going I would not have picked to go for a normal meal. Service is everything right, it makes a whole meal very different. They were all nice enough, but absolutely clueless! Looking at the wine menu we noticed Marco Pierre has his own wines so asked about it - 3 different waiters were disappearing off to find out what the red might taste like and “no one ever orders those”.. great. We went for it anyway and it was a nice light one, fruity. Tried to say this to the waiter who poured who said “I don’t drink wine”.. right. Mains we went for the steak (£10 more!) and couldn’t see mention of chips so ordered some. Surely you would mention at the time “you know this comes with chips?” - no so we just ended up with surplus. The Cajun fries were very nice though so was happy I had them! Steak was fine couple of chewy bits. Brownie and cheesecake were lovely. Focaccia was lovely and soft, starters ribs fell off the bone and the spice on the hot wings was sooo nice I could have eaten them all night!

One waiter was trying to seat and serve more than 5 tables at once which was unfair on him. This also meant starters took more than an hour and a drink we ordered at the beginning of the meal never arrived. As he was busy we asked another waitress if we could order a drink and she refused and said we had to wait for our waiter. Service was poor and mains were flavourless. Other tables around us were complaining they had waited over 90 minutes for starters which were then burnt.

Not a great experience - having travelled up to London for this experience. Won’t be back or recommend!

Sadly, most of the poor reviews are correct. Nachos had processed cheese on them, not offered any sources and when alsed for large glass of wine, they forgot to bring it and said they'd get it after the dinner was finished. Asked them not to worry. Cheesecake wasn't the best either. Everyone was also on the same buy a gift menu.... It felt quite sad... They even added service charge which I requested was removed. 1st time I've ever done that!!

We were given a set menu gift for Christmas and used it today - I don’t know the value of the gift. There are 4 starters, 6 mains and 4 deserts with a glass of Prosecco included and water for the table. The staff would get 10 stars - they were all attentive and pleasant but the food … I had nachos to start but did not eat all - the cheese tasted plastic and dolloped onto the nachos … my partner had ribs and liked them. For mains he had the burger and bun and flies - you could have bought extra sides …. He liked it - bun is brioche and small … I had spaghetti bolognaise … the mince was hiding - it was a lot of pasta but not much bolognaise and no basil - I’m diabetic so left most of the pasta … there was another veg pasta dish, an anchovy salad (I can’t eat fish) and chicken and pasta … which I probably should have gone for - and a steak or two which had additional charges … desert was a choice of 4 but the cheesecake had the lowest calories - it was nice but nothing special … :-( I had a coke and a latte so paid an extra £7… Usually after I try the offers - if nice we go back for the full menu choice … but not sure I would … such a shame as we’d been to the theatre earlier and wanted to round off the day with a nice meal - but I’ve had better at smaller franchises on a high street … sorry :-(

My husband and I visited using a Buyagift voucher - booking was easy and the welcome from staff nice. The outside on Lavington Street is a little off putting but inside is really nice. Menu selection is very limited but what we had was largely enjoyed. My husband went for the steak at a supplement of £10.99 - most of it was fatty and definitely not worth the supplement - other foods were nice. There was a mix up with my main but it was quickly rectified. Staff were attentive throughout. Overall we very much enjoyed our meal.

Sorry but don't do it folks. I have never had to leave a 1 star review for any restaurant but here it is: It looks tired and old. Plastic flowers on the ceiling and shelves, tea and coffee written on the false doors (why?!) and woefully short of staff. Food was mediocre, with my steak being tough as old boots. The staff were trying their hardest and were sweet, but really it was so embarrassing as we booked this due to the name on the door, and was bringing an American guest so doubly bad! We went to Zizzis the night before overlooking St Pauls, and it was incredible with both the vibe and the food and the look and feel. We paid twice as much for Marco Pierre Whites name and really it was so upsettingly sad. You need to close this place and revamp it! Enjoy the picture of the mayonnaise plastic bottle we were given! also nearly empty!

I'ma try to be honest here. A s we were a guest of the hotel. Marcos in London bridge. Appetizers -Calamari - you may as well have been chewing on a rubber dog chew toy. -Buffalo chicken strips - they actually didn't taste terrible, but effectively frozen chicken strips with buffalo sauce on them. -Bruschetta - presentation was very nice, taste wasn't bad.. but not even close to traditional bruschetta Mains - carbonara - spaghetti with cream sauce and some bacon on top. Menu said it's made with pancetta but nope creme was added - microwaved pre made cannelloni Classic Italian pastas are so rediculously easy to make I'm not sure why they would serve either of these dishes Didn't try the steaks I was too afraid considering the prices of them. Service chaos and the place was very empty.. waited a long time for anything. I was first told that they would have to "squeeze us in" but when we arrived the place was empty. Language barrier issues as well. Dining room Wasn't super clean but not to bad. if it wasnt for the furry little creature we saw scurry across the floor in the upper section I may have given it 2 stars. Price $$ - $$$ If you have read up on Marco Pierre White he is long retired from cooking. He has franchised his name and sells them to any one who has the money to start a restaurant. He is a famous chef but just destroys the legacy he built for himself by letting this to continue.

Very disappointed in our visit and we won't be returning. We attended as a party of 2 for dinner on a Thursday evening. Despite the restaurant not being too busy, the service was incredibly slow. We ordered the rosemary and garlic focaccia to start and it was basically a standard chunk of bread with a few herbs on top. The dough was uniform with none of the classic bubbles and air pockets focaccia is known for. The mains were just as disappointing with the fried calamari being soft and floppy as opposed to nice and crispy, and the BBQ ribs were tough and fatty. I can only assume this restaurant survives on the tourist trade as I can't see anyone going here and deciding to go back.

The service was very poor start to finish. Disinterested and inexperienced waiters. Order repeated several times and requested water 5 times. Ordered the Valpolicella and was asked if I’d take a Pinot or Merlot if it wasn’t available. Was then given the house (I think there were only about 8 reds on the menu). Food was frankly poor. Tempura shrimp were soggy not crisp. Chicken was dry and overcooked. I doubt Marco would have eaten it. Reasonable environment but connected to the hotel lobby and the experience wasn’t enhanced by tables and chairs being carried through to set up for breakfast.

With the voucher came a bottle of prosecco, which was awful, we asked for a bottle of red instead and was told no. For starters, we had Nachos and Pork Belly , which was very nice. For mains, we had pasta and burger, which was ok, but was told any sides had to be paid for. For desert we had, cheesecake which was nice. Ok experience not fantastic
