Utterly awful food. Ordered Venison to come pink, had to send back it was so not pink, you could have re-soled your shoes. Came with some odd looking dumplings that weren’t specified on the menu, which had the consistency of chewing gum, totally raw and you could taste the flour. On quizzing the waitress she went off to find out what the odd looking foodstuff was. Her answer from the chief was beef fat!! Yuck. Would I return absolutely not. I wonder what Marco would think.

**Disgusting customer service by Dragos.** Dragos the Leo’s Bar supervisor is aggressive and feels it is okay to use intimidation to a lone woman. He favours some guests and treated me like a second class citizen from the moment I stepped into the bar for no apparent reason. I watched as other customers were given customer service and I was completely ignored. I was then insulted when I left and was asked if I had paid my bill! I told Dragos that I was unhappy with the service I experienced. He was not understanding. He got very aggressive and intimidatingly got in my face and continued to follow me into the lobby with aggression using his body to intimidate me. I am disgusted and highly shocked. People avoid Leo’s bar.

We were looking forward to eating at Marco Pierre White but I really wish we had read the reviews before. We had the meatballs on sourdough toast as a starter which was average at best followed by the steak frites that we could barely cut. We sent back one of the meals but it returned in a similarity bad state with some fresh chips. Complained again and received a 10% discount. We went straight to the hotel reception and cancelled the breakfasts we had booked for the following two mornings as it is apparently cooked in the same kitchen!! Walked out feeling like we had been robbed of £76.00. Very, very poor. (There are a number of eateries within a short walking distance of the hotel, do not waste your time and money in this place.)

We had dinner here as we were staying in the Leonardo hotel. We were informed that we ought to make a reservation as the restaurant fills up quickly. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not filled to capacity. Nevertheless, service was rather slow. Starters (scotch egg and goat cheese/beetroot starter) were fine, our problem was with the main dishes. The ravioli were hard and dry. We strongly suspect they were frozen. The roasted pork loin was so dry it was inedible. After we returned the pork to be remade, we received another dry piece. My hypothesis is that it has been kept warm under a lamp since prep. The quality of the food was not satisfactory given the steep prices. Wines were very good, however.

Ordered the lamb and got some small pieces of fatty lamb, green beans from a can plus one fingerling potato . Five pounds of food for 33 pounds. There’s a reason we don’t usually go to celebrity chef restaurants and this just added to that philosophy. Pretty average sadly. Tomahawk steak was pretty dry and not massively flavoursome, partners calamari was chewy. Side dishes were decent (mushrooms, cabbage, prawns) Just bang average overall. Staff were very pleasant though and rating no reflection on them at all, this is about the food. Luckily for us we had vouchers to use, definitely wouldn’t pay for it.

Honestly it was wow.i read reviews before and it’s nothing like what others have been saying it’s amazing. I had one of the signature steak with king prawns and my partner had Mac and cheese was amazing. Our waiter that night was James j believe incredible job it was my partners and I put it on the reservation but no one talked to me about but we received a birthday plate. Staying in the hotel so just bumped into it but have found a gem.

Huge space but bit cold . Prawn cocktail was nice . Burger was awful . You’d think the chef in such a restaurant would have some fresh mince ! The burger was dense & solid , felt frozen defrosted and not fresh at all . Fries was good so two sars are one for prawn cocktail & one for fries . Burger ? Zero . Will not eat here again

I asked for a 16oz sirloin steak as i love my meat and wife a ceasar salad, the steak was under cooked, smell, stone cold, chewy and tasteless. I vomited and i still suffer stomach ache. Ive been a chef for many years and i have never eaten a horrible steak in my entire life. The cesar salad was just lettuce. Marco pierre i challenge you to come to london and i will show you how to cook a steak. I don’t recommend this place to no one, run a mile away. What a waste of money, you can get better food around the corner for a tenner.

The occasion was an eagerly awaited diamond wedding celebration. Only one of our party had a cocktail and it was the only alcohol free version priced at £9.95 passion fruit reviver) on the menu. Discovered when we returned home that we had been charged for an alcoholic version at £13.50. I was astonished to discover that there was only a choice of one for non-alcoholic lager (corona). Nothing else available. All of those who had a starter were satisfied. Main meals. Two of the group complained that their Burgers were dry. I had steak. It was eatable, but I have had more tender steak down my local pub. All the other meals were ok. Deserts. THree of us had Eton Mess. On the menu it quite clearly stated strawberries and raspberries. When in fact they were strawberry and blueberry. Just as well no-one was allergic to blueberries. We could not taste any meringue, it appeared to be all cream. Without a doubt the worst eton mess I have ever tasted. Digestif. We were asked if we wanted the bill before the the desert plates were cleared. My response was that I would prefer a coffee. Big sigh from the server and he moved away. I then had to suggest to him that perhaps there may be other people at the table who would like a coffee. He then returned and took the order for three coffees. These then arrived in in three mugs not cups. One of the mugs was full and two were approximately one third full. We didn't have sight of any sugar. We then gave up.

Our Christmas meal at the Marine Hotel Dover was a lovely experience. The table by the window offered wonderful views, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food was good, especially the Christmas pud! However one waiter stands out and this is the Italian man Paulo, who serves us every year and is unfailingly attentive, friendly and skilled at his job. We all just love him and he is undoubtedly he is great role model for others. Thank you Paulo!!!

Definitely a terrible experience. There were eggs in the prawn cocktail, but it wasn't listed on the menu. When I asked for explanations they told me it's on the menu. Looking at it together, I wasn't wrong, it didn't indicate the presence of eggs. French onion soup. Terrible raw onions and cooked I think in gravy for I think a few minutes. Definitely bad. The coloring is also terrible. Frozen mushrooms and potatoes, everything terrible. The photo on the menu perhaps indicates your true profession, the butcher, because you have nothing like a chef, at least that's what your food brought back to my palate. Marco changes profession.

I truly cannot believe that a renowned chef has his name associated with this restaurant. Restaurant was almost empty but it took 90 mins from ordering to receive our mains and it was clear that they’d been cooking for 90 mins. Every meal overcooked and ruined. Just a shambles.

Delicious food, great cocktails and an excellent wine pairing. Really enjoyed the French onion soup with my other half. We then shared the tomahawk steak with the selection of sauces. All were great, absolutely loved the peppercorn sauce. Slightly over seasoned with salt. However not a deal breaker. Icecream at the end was magnificent.

A lovely work friend bought me an afternoon tea as a get well prezzie, and today was the day that my Best friend and I enjoyed it! It was a very tasty afternoon treat, with good selection of tasty sandwiches and a mouthwatering array of cakes and scones with cream. Tea and coffee was plentiful and was topped up for us when we had finished first pots Staff were attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was calm warm and friendly. We attended the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse in Southampton expecting great food and service, unfortunately we received neither. The staff were disorganised and a hygiene issue coming from one of the waiters was very unpleasant. The starters were very mediocre and the mains, well let's just say my 6 year old would have done much better. You would expect more from a Marco Pierre White establishment.

Unfortunately very disappointed with the meal we had here on Saturday2 Sept 23. Having been in the past we were really looking frwd to our treat at this hotel and a meal at the 'Marco Pierre White' steakhouse. After placing our order for the fillet steaks we not only had to wait 50 minutes for any food to arrive (we were seated as it opened so not many other diners were there) but then the under average meal arrived. The Koffman fries were absolutely inedible. They were burnt with grease coming out of them and most were small burnt ends and looked disgusting (see photos). We mentioned this to our waiter when he came to check and he offered to bring new fries. We waited another 10 minutes for these to arrive but by then our steaks were eaten as they were getting cold. The waiter should of taken our plates away and got rid of the old fries, but instead he left them on our plates. The new fries were not alot better and we didn't eat many due to the meal now being ruined! The waiter then bought us the bill. I just couldn't believe we were about to pay nearly £80 for a meal that was utterly disappointing. I made an error here by paying the bill in full then thought I would go and speak to the manager. This was a big mistake. After waiting another 10 minutes to speak to someone the manager came over and said all she can offer is 20% off next time we visit. I told her this will not be happening and we won't return. She said nothing else can be done and didn't even offer a refund of the chips. I was disgusted and told her that if I had known this I would not of paid the bill at all until I had spoken to her, I felt dubed and angry, we even paid the service charge, added without us asking. As the restaurant manager surely she would have a small amount of discretion to offer something back to us??? I really don't think it was to much to ask for? She just said she couldn't offer anything else, which I don't believe for one minute. I asked how I can escalate this further and she told me I can speak to hotel reception. We went back to our room and decided to ask for the manager when checking out in the morning. I spoke to the guest relations manager when we checked out, to be fair he did listen and take down notes and my contact details. He assured me he would look into this and come back to me. He accepted the restaurant manager was wrong in not dealing with this the previous evening. After 5 days of no contact from him I emailed to chase it up, then another 2 days (1 week had now passed) I decided to email the hotel chain direct to pass on my complaint and gave them all the details in an email. Two hours later I finally had a response from the guest relations manager. Although he apologised I was refunded just £13! From an £80 meal, absolutely unbelievable. Due to these circumstances and the way it was handled I cant recommend this hotel or steakhouse and will definitely not be returning. This is a restaurant backed by a 3 star michilin chef hence you expect good service and quality food, especially for the higher price you pay, seems like we were just paying for the name! Very disappointed

Marco Pierre Steakhouse? This place is an absolute joke, They can’t cook a steak. The food was absolutely disgusting. I feel robbed after still being slapped with a £230 bill for food because it wasn’t edible. Starters were fine but really slow service at getting all meals out together. My friend had the sirloin signature steak. He asked for medium rare but was served well done and dry and was sent back. The 2nd was the opposite,raw and freezing cold in the middle. My husband had the mix grill. Well what can I say. A total embarrassment, shrivelled up meat, a dry fried egg that was hard boiled in the middle and a sausage that was so shrivelled and looked like a cheap brand off the no frills shelf at a supermarket. I had an overdone fillet steak, again was meant to be medium was served dry and tasted burnt, served on a soggy piece of sourdough bread!!!! Chips were cold and the green beans were so over cooked they fell apart when I picked them up. Management offered 30% off our bill which we accepted because we get embarrassed complaining but I’m so angry that we still paid for the mains. Management shouldn’t be asking what we wanted to do she should have made the decision instead of putting us on the spot especially when she said she wouldn’t pay for it. The Manager advised that the chef was also cooking for a wedding, so not a dedicated Marco Pierre chef. Very inexperienced and certainly does not match the Marco Pierre brand. AVOID unless you don’t mind throwing money down the drain and have a nice evening spoilt by poor quality food. To the management at Leonardo Grand Royal this needs sorting what an embarrassment to your hotel and business. Your reviews at this restaurant are terrible and as a guest of this hotel and experience I will not be coming back. Don’t make the mistake I did and check trip advisor after the experience!

I asked for a medium filet steak , what l received was a well done steak. I did not enjoy the steak but did enjoy the sauce and mushrooms. Nevertheless, the meal was not good if it wasn't cooked to my order. My wife ordered the lamb which was cooked perfectly.

Visiting as a couple on a Thursday evening in late August, it started well. The maitre d' received us and showed us to our table, and asked if we would like Olives and bread whilst we made our menu choice, to which we said yes. Then our waitress arrived with the menus but not olives/bread - these eventually came after we had made our menu choices and asked more than once for them. The mains arrived very quickly, too quickly in fact as we'd hardly started on the nibbles. How was the food? The MPW signature steak au poivre was really excellent - a serious piece of fillet accurately cooked (mine was rare), the poivre sauce just this side of too peppery, the fricasse of mushrooms delicious and tasty. There was a side of Hoffmann chips which were less successful, being less than crisp and too thickly cut - I'd have preferred standard frites. My wife had the Alex James burger, which was unremarkable - adding bacon and blue cheese to an average burger still makes it an average burger. During the meal we were interrupted more than once by the waitress asking if everything was OK and "enjoy the rest of your meal", which was unnecessary and a bit intrusive to be honest. I have to mention the coffees though, because they were appalling - looked and tasted as if they'd come out of a cheap vending machine - not a great way to finish the meal. Bottom line - go for the signature steaks but avoid the coffee.

Don’t waste your time or money. Food came stone cold, advised the waitress that everything was cold, the chips, the onion rings, the sauce and the steak… to which we were told you ordered your steak medium rare so it’s at 36 degrees and won’t be any different if it’s re cooked…. in the end the food was taken away and replaced. It came back and yep the chips and onion rings were now hot, the steak however had been sliced and then added back to the pan as it was evident all the sides of the slices had touched a pan due to its grey colour, dumped onto a plate and sent out … the centre still stone cold. There’s a problem when a steakhouse, never mind with the name Marco Pierre White attached to it, can’t cook the basics of steak and chips. Please rethink your visit. We won’t be back.

Recently stayed at the hotel so we booked in for a meal on both evenings. Food was very tasty on both evenings, however when you pay £22.95 for a mixed grill you would expect it to include chips in the price, not have to pay an additional £4.95. Only other issue is the £4 for a 200ml bottle of Coke which is very expensive. Burger was very tasty on the first evening as was my daughters fish fingers and chips.

Where do we start, Hotel was great and staff very friendly…. Thats where it ended am afraid. The food was appalling, steaks were tough at first and when we asked to replace they came back cold in the centre!!! Chips were def frozen and the mac and cheese still had flour that was not cooked off. Waitress (Harmony) was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. I honestly believe if you can not cook steak and chips to an edible form there really is not much hope for the chefs. Not a great experience considering we have been to Marco’s house to stay and have dinner and that was on totally another level. I fear that he has absolutely nothing to do with this place except maybe donate his name and a few pictures but i fear that is where the involvement stops with this one. Go to his house restaurant, trust me you will not be disappointed

We went during a quiet period for an afternoon cream tea experience, which was purchased for us. It was a clean, well maintained environment. It's in town, near the red funnel ferry terminal. We do prefer country houses, views and gardens. This was still an enjoyable experience and definitely worth the money.

Must be one of thirst meals I have had in a Hotel restaurant. Travelling on my own so why do restaurants think that you should have you meal in 30 min. The manager asked me if I wanted bread or olives. Chose the olives. They did not arrive until after my starter turned up which by the way was frozen calamari which was cold. Told the manager I did not need the olives now and was told I could have a free desert. Why do restaurants think that a free desert will make it all better. Really disappointed service and price.

If one searches for the driest sausages ever, look no further, this is the place! Eggs Well done? Yes, egg yolk is properly set and they are cold too, no burning sensation! This is the best place to go for Breakfast if you dont like your breakfast hot! For me this is the worst experience so far been traveling around the UK staying in different Hotels for the last 24 years!

Never got to taste the food, so cannot comment. My son had bought me for Christmas a groupon voucher for a meal for two at Marco Pierre plus a bottle of wine. After suffering with covid was looking forward to a date night out, got dressed up and arrived at the Leonardo Hotel to where Marco Pierre was only to be told that they no longer accepted Groupon deals. I had a written contract from Groupon (not out of date) I was very upset that they would no longer honour their agreement.

Don't ever bring out main courses when not only had the starters tableware hadn't been removed and especially not when there is one diner still eating their starter! For a 'steakhouse' I expected a better steak considering the price charged. Very underwhelming - won't be rushing back and only giving one star in order to get the review published.

Selected to eat here on last night of staycation. The only thing connected is the name. I felt sorry for the two waiters staff both looked under 20. Soup was tastless and no croutons as advertised on menu, scotch egg was OK. Fish cake very soft and very little fish in it. No spinach as advertised on menu. Steak was fatty and the peas did not come buttered as advertised. My chips were cold and powdery. The onion rings were coated in a fresh light batter and was the most tasty item we eat. The trio of desserts was far to big, each looked like a normal dessert size. The Berry mess was the best. The cheesecake was powdery and tastless. The coffees were cold and the petite fois was three bits of cold chocolate brownie.

I came here for an afternoon tea with my sister and a friend as part of a spa package deal. On arrival the staff member quite rudely insisted on us having out Groupon code printed for us to receive our afternoon tea. I said we have it on email and she asked to see it. While I was searching for my email we saw a price of paper on the desk listing everyone's names booked in for afternoon tea that day which we saw our name on. My friend said, 'look our names here' which the staff member ignored. It took a while to find the email and then the lady said 'oh you're on a spa day so we don't need your voucher.' When we finally received our afternoon tea the bread had clearly been left out for a while as it was crusty and stale. The meat options were thin, cheap slices of beef and ham. The cakes and tea were nice but there was never a staff member around to get a top up. Overall an underwhelming experience.

A took my Mum as a treat on a Thursday afternoon and although one side of the restaurant seemed busy with mainly what looked like business lunches.The other side was very boring, there was no atmosphere whatsoever and although polite the waiting staff were a little wet. We weren’t given sugar for our tea even after asking.The afternoon tea was even more disappointing. The sandwiches were very basic. The crusts were still left on the bottom and only 4 finger sandwiches each. With no top up. Too many petit fours and very small scones.Overall not a great experience and I wouldn’t return.My local garden centre provides a better afternoon tea for less than half the price.

We were given a groupon for prosecco afternoon tea. The prosecco was delicious - unfortunately that was the best part of the tea. The sandwiches were borderline stale, the cakes tasted bought in, and not good quality at all, are they frozen? Scones were average.....We didn’t didn’t eat the chocolate one as it was so gelatinous, the cheesecake poor and the carrot cake dry. You had one macaron each which was tasteless - we couldn’t decipher the flavours! Service was good and the tea was plentiful (we had two pots) but we wouldn’t return.

We liked the atmosphere, there was quiet music, it wasn't too bright, but reading other people's reviews, that it felt like a wake... yes, perhaps :D The fried calamari starter was nice, though the portion seemed quite small for that kind of price. Tartar sauce was delicious. Roast chicken main... was ok. The chicken was delicious, so was the mushroom sauce, the single potato was fine, but the cooked spinach.. I don't mind spinach, but there was just too much of it - there was not enough other food to eat it with. Shepard's pie was ok too. Little bland. The waitress was great, and the service was amazing. She told us it would take about 25 minutes for the mains to arrive, and it wasn't that long. She offered water and was very attentive. Overall it wasn't bad, but it wasn't value for money either, so I don't think we would be going there again.

Visited for afternoon tea with my family. It is a lovely setting, clean and well presented. The food was lovely and good value as I had a groupon voucher. The service was somewhat lacking but we didn't really need it after the food came so wasnt so much bother. I would return again. This restaurant setting is lovely, calm and clean. We ordered a burger each, one with triple cooked chips and one with pommes frites. The burgers were lovely, but the triple cooked chips were hard in the middle and appeared to be only single cooked chips! Great service and we werent bothered by waiting staff, but they were close by if we needed something. One small thing I would say is that the Peace Lillies on the window cills needed watering as they were drooping but other than that, a really good meal.

Very suprised by some of the negative reviews The things to watch out for however, is you will get a 10% service charge added to your bill & you will have to pay for water. This date was booked weeks ago as a birthday present.On arriving the hotel it had been totally overtaken by a large Sci - Fi convention. Our relaxing afternoon tea was spoilt by the large group in the restaurant doing a loud quiz with compare & microphones and lots of loud cheering. We asked to move and were moved to the less loud main bar area which was not exactly the experience we had hoped for. Certainly not 4* hotel standard. Apparently the hotel didn’t take other bookings but Marco Pierre restaurant still took afternoon teas bookings!Thoroughly disappointing Food ok but we were then neglected in the bar area as staff remained in the restaurant and then proceeded to hover over us to see if we were finishing as they wanted our table as it was near a plug to set up a chocolate fountain for said convention!

We then went into the bar area of the restaurant and were less than impressed by the decor, service and levels of cleanliness.The restaurant area was a lot better but the food disappointed. We had a meal at the Marco Pierre White restaurant on the 27th of January, it was a pre-paid meal bought as a present. We started with the goat's cheese and beetroot which was basic but nice, we followed with the roast chicken forrest and the swordfish steak. The chicken was tasty however the swordfish was dry, hard and chewy, badly overcooked, we complained and they said it would take 15 minutes to cook another - possibly an explanation for the state it was in. As we did not want one of us to eat alone we asked for whatever would be the quickest meal. The result was the arrival of the beefburger with a jar of mayonnaise this took almost as long. The beefburger was a small dried up lump, again inedible.

We were staying at the Leonardo Hotel and decided to dine in the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, we were offered a 20% discount as our hotel room was not ready until gone 4.00pm, over an hour after check in time. We were expecting a great steak but unfortunately both our steaks were tough, over cooked and not hot, veg was overcooked and sauce was not tasty at all. We do use the hotel often but will not be eating in the restaurant again until it improves. Perhaps Marco had better come back and sort it out, it is not doing his reputation any good.

Lovely food and surroundings. Took advantage of the 50% off mains in January. Surprised however at the cost of still water- must ask for tap next time! Went on a Sunday evening and it wasn't that busy, however staff were not that attentive. We witness at least 4 tables either strain to get the attention of waiting staff or have to get up and find a member of staff to get their bill. An enjoyable meal over all and will come again.

Arrived a bit later than we anticipated. From the time we got there Manoj and team did an awesome job. Made sure we had a good meal all in all the service was awesome. Some hick-up with a starter but we all have different taste buds. Cannot fault it £17.50 for a two course meal it was lovely and keep it up Team your doing a good job. I think credit where it’s due and we were all happy with the way things went on the day. A group of 14 very happy ladies including a pregnant lady so you can’t be doing much of a bad job as suggested by reviews I have read on here. Please go and try it yourself as we were pleasantly surprised.

The starters and dessert were fantastic. The steak was a massively disappointing let down. For the name on the door and the price this was not value for money. I've paid less and more for Steak and had much, much better. Our Waitress was awesome, attentive and bumped this form a 2 star to a 3 star rating, I wanted to leave a tip but couldn't as I had no cash on me and she had already put the value into the card machine. She was not bothered and didn't wish to change the figure to include a tip which says a lot about her character (or that they don't get their tips!) The actual restaurant whilst visually very nice was very quiet and subdued. At points I wondered if somebody had died and I was the odd guest out of a wake gathering. I would not go again. Not even if I stayed at the Leonardo Royal Southampton.

Bad weather outside the hotel discouraged me from going out. Even the short walk to Kuti’s seemed too far. The franchise restaurant seemed to be the best option. They claimed to be busy by 8pm so I sat down in a virtually empty restaurant an hour earlier. A waitress came promptly and took my order and water and a glass of NZ Sauvignon Blanc soon arrived quickly followed by whitebait. Far from being crispy, the usual way to serve them, these ones were soft and almost slimy. It took five minutes to attract attention while the waitress fussed over adding another light to a table near me. Why do these places insist on such gloomy lighting?. She seemed surprised by my rejection of this dish but after that things improved as another waitress brought a replacement dish served as advertised.

I stayed at this hotel with a few friends and had dinner there. For the price, a 2 course wasn’t bad but don’t expect a huge amount of food. The swordfish steak was very small sitting on top of mashed aubergines topped with olives. Fish was rather bland. As it is a steak restaurant the set menu had no steak option. I suggest if you are offered the set menu, stick to safe choices like the burger. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was warm. We weren’t given a chance to taste it, the Waitress just poured it out to everyone. I asked for a cold bottle of wine and was told, all the white wine are like that, that’s why we were given a bucket of ice. She gave us a glass of ice to put into the wine. Firstly, had we known, we would have swapped for red wine or ordered something else, but wasn’t given that choice. Secondly, regardless of whether the white wine was cold or not, we’d expect an ice bucket. That’s standard wine etiquette l would expect especially from a well known chain. Service: not impressed. Our Waitress seemed to be stuck in the kitchen area. It took a while to grab some attention so we could pay and leave. I had order bar snacks as we were still hungry. This was very disappointing dinner. We are unlikely to return if we stayed at this hotel again. There are better dinner options in town which is less than 10 minutes walk away.

On arrival we were told there was not a booking for us, but I had booked that day and was also called back to confirm my booking, so not a good start, and as there were only 3 tables in use in a massive restaurant they could easily fit us in. We were seated and given a menu there were four staff but they took ages to ask us if we wanted drinks, we had to ask them to take our order. finally we ordered our food and wine after about 20 mins.

Booked this restaurant specifically for a 60th birthday treat after having had a super meal previously at a Marco Pierre White restaurant (on a ship). Ordered 3 starters - 1 cold 2 hot. Cold 1 and 1 hot 1 arrived. 15 minutes later (after asking) 2nd hot started arrived - sent both hot starters back as expected to eat starters together not in relay. 4 Steaks arrived - 1 not cooked to specified preference and accompanying vegetables aired - sent back. 1 of others not cooked to preference but person managed to eat some of it. 3/4 hour later steak finally returned (after complaints to staff - 1 in tears due to all complaints - and Manager of restaurant and eventually Manager of hotel). Returned steak burnt. Finally said we would only pay for drinks. Truly dreadful and disappointing experience. Not staff's fault - something wrong in the kitchen? Needs sorting out.

Having had a less than satisfactory previous visit to this restaurant in the Leonardo Hotel we went back to give it another (and possibly final) chance. So pleased we did as everything was so much better. Service was prompt and courteous, the atmosphere bubbly yet sophisticated and the food superb. Smoked salmon and prawn cocktail starters and signature fillet steak (very succulent and perfecty cooked) were everything we had hoped for and fully justified our return. A delicious toffee sponge and vanilla panna cotta to finish and we left very happy and looking forward to our next visit.

Got to say the food was very average. The deserts were good though. Would of had a 4 star review but I feel that 2 hours from the time of sitting to us finishing 2 courses was a lot of our day taken up for just a simple lunch meal. Unfortunately one of the waitresses removed our main meal plates but obviously forgot to tell the chef that the plates had been returned, this meant a long wait between main and desert. One of the other waitresses did say that she was sorry and the other waitress was new. I accept the apology, but unfortunately a review is a review and I have to review on the experience. Would I eat there again, probably not. A shame because we thoroughly enjoyed our massage, so unfortunately a mixed bag. I have given the restaurant a 3 star review but given the massage a seperate review of 5 stars.
