Our 30th Wedding Anniversary meal. 7.30pm on Sat 3 Aug 2024. Table booked in advance and confirmed on the phone 30 mins before arrival at MPW. Steakhouse Bar and Grill Milton Keynes. Having struggled to find this restaurant opposite a McDonalds and Kentucky Fried but next door to Papa Johns , hidden on the 2nd floor of a hotel was this unbelievably dark and gloomy room purporting to be a restaurant. On arrival the waitress informs us that there was hardly any food and very few steaks. I said but this is a steak speciality restaurant and she just stared at me. Why hadn’t they informed us when we spoke on the phone 30 minutes earlier that there was a problem? My husband asked her to check if there were any sharing steaks for which MPW is well known. We had prior to leaving home planned on having a Tomahawk to share as this was our 30th anniversary and we thought heck to health and the expense. Of course there were no sharing steaks whatsoever. They were only serving starter type dishes. When we said we did not wish to be seated the waitress looked at us like we were being difficult. We walked. Come on guys, proper signage, proper service, proper food and don’t make fun of us MPW by thinking you can treat people this way. What has happened to your standards! You ruined our 30th anniversary. Thanks. We will avoid anything related to MPW from hereonin and suggest you do the same. BTW. The wonderful terrace described by the owner on this website overlooks the McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken venues and a petrol station. Don’t bother

Very modern and contemporary restaurant, beautifully decorated, menu choice good and wine list good. Service not the quickest but ok, unfortunately you go to a well renowned steak house to have a steak and after you order your chosen steak the waitress informs you they only have one of your 2 “Fillet”steaks so would you chose another cut. Not impressed and it was at the start of the evening service, which made it even more bizarre. All the food was very nice and well seasoned will probably need to pre order next time to ensure they have our favoured cut of steak in future.

Booked a table 3 weeks before, drove over an hour to get there arrived at 630 to be told we are closed and we have recently changed our opening hours and that someone should have contacted us!!

Unimpressed with the food. The salmon was overcooked, the fish and chips were fine. The pork was dry with very little sauce The Lamb was nicely cooked but got cold while we waited for the sides. No complaints with the pleasant staff

Tasty food and very friendly staff, good selection of alcoholic drinks available. Would definitely visit again.

The meat was good but not spectacular. It is better not to order the squid, it is too battered and has a regular flavor.

Cannot think of any other restaurant where you get a bottle of wine and have to open it yourself and serve yourself. Very average food and service. Friendly but obviously totally unaware of what to do and untrained . Management is to be blamed . The restaurant shows full on its website but probably 75% empty . Something definitely going on there .

Afternoon has really gone downhill since covid. Pre covid it was a beautiful spread and would go here often but on my last visit it was terrible quality. Not what you'd expect from a mpw chain.

We visited on Easter Saturday and were really impressed with both the food and the service. My salmon starter with capers was excellent and the fillet steak with prawns was delicious. We had a table of four and each of us will definitely return.

Great restaurant, the food was delicious and the service was great. The ambience was relaxed and we enjoyed the drinks choices, especially the wine and cocktails. My steak au poive was amazing!

We went for an early dinner as a family after a trip to the cinema on Sunday. We had been to another MPW branch previously and thought it was good so we were really looking forward to a lovely time. Sadly the service was not great despite it being a quiet time. No orders for drinks were taken for some time until we eventually called someone over, then it was the wrong drink brought over. We were given roast dinner only menus but I had seen another table having burgers when we walked in so enquired whether there was a specials board or something that we had missed. We were told that it was an item on another menu but we couldn’t order a la carte until 4pm when other tables were clearly eating a la carte, we were also told we could not mix roast dinner and a la carte when the table next to us were having dishes from both menus and no explanation given why we were discriminated in this way. The calamari and fries were lovely but I could not eat the chicken Caesar salad. The lettuce tasted old and the dressing drenched everything and too salty to eat. The chicken was so dry and tough. I rarely leave food. For a meal costing just shy of £200 this was a disappointment to say the least. I didn’t want to complain to management at the time as it was a special occasion.

After reading good reviews about the Sunday roast we took mum for a mother's day meal. We had some olives and some bread, no starters. Our meal took nearly an hour to arrive at our table. The food was average at best. The cauliflower cheese was watery. My sister's apple crumble dessert was tasteless. I wouldn't go again. The only plus was the espresso martinis were amazing. I don't understand why MPW puts his name with this. The icing on the cake.....towards the end of our meal a waiter reminded us that we only had the table for a set time and that time was approaching. One hour for our food to arrive!!??! 😂😂😂

This time, I attended for Saturday lunch. Great service and fantastic food. Unfortunately, we never thought about checking to see if there would be a football match on at the same time, so never planned for traffic or parking issues.

Best steakhouse restaurant in MK. Food was exceptional, atmosphere great and the service outstanding. One of our party had an allergic reaction to a dish and Katie the Manager made sure he was alright, swapped the meal out and made sure the experience was unaffected. Always great to visit here, it's always a consistent experience. Definitely recommend any steak, fish and chips and the onion rings, everything os always perfectly cooked and swift service.

Ordered a blue steak & it came out raw…

We had a wonderful lunch on our first visit here. We were served by Denni who was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The wine we ordered was out of stock so she brought two other wines for us to taste before we decided and offered to price match to the one we had originally chosen. The food was delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection - we will definitely be back!

We had the Sunday roast and was excellent quality and value for money staff were very well trained and polite well done all definitely be visiting again

We went to celebrate our daughters birthday, the restaurant wasn’t particularly that busy, we were akin to our table they took our order for some drinks, it took an age to get them, we had to ask where our drinks were, then when we got our main meal the fries were missing so we had to ask for them, but by the time we finally got them we had just about finished our meals, then when we got the bill they charged extra for them, we flagged up and finally it was sorted out. All in all the food was good but service was rubbish which spoilt our celebration.

Lovely meal, served quickly without feeling rushed. The foccata and olives were a delightful starter and the sticky sweetness of the balsamic vinegar was a perfect match. I had the James burger it was moist, and well cooked. The brioche bun was toasted but still soft, the cheese melted but still with a texture. The service was quick, polite and unobtrusive, especially well done to Lala for her service with a smile. Best of all the 50% off all mains in January was a real bonus. All in all Marco's, Milton Keynes lived up to expectations, well done.

We had my daughters baby shower here, there was 20 people, we had a bespoke afternoon tea which was great, Deni the manager and her team were wonderful, we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Thankyou to you all. X

Terrible food, terrible service. Don't waste your money.

Attended an Xmas day meal at this restaurant, wonderful environment however it was let down by the food. No bread sauce on the Turkey dinner as advertised. Stuffing was bland and a cloggy texture. Lamb was nice, heritage tomato salad was nice, but tomatoes were soft like they were old. Puddings were the biggest let down. The poached pear was floppy but the set cream was so hard you could start a riot with it.

We’ve been told to sat our children down, because they were in the hallway, next to our table!!! They were not shouting or doing any mess!!! They were just two children, walking around and bothering the hostess!!!! Make sure you update your website, that you’re not a child friendly place!!!

Went here as a last minute booking as we forgot to book somewhere for our Anniversary and our normal venue was booked. The service was the best we have experienced in the area, so friendly, they brought us out prosecco each as knew it was our anniversary and advised it was on the house. The waiters knew what they were talking about and answered any questions. The steak was amazing and very filling. We ordered sticky toffe pudding to share and this came out with a lovely Happy anniversary message in chocolate. When we paid the waiter asked if we enjoyed the meal and our Anniversary and as we left they all wished us Happy Anniversary. The staff made our evening feel very special and looking forward to returning. Thank you.

Me and my husband had such an amazing meal here a couple of Sundays ago. From the moment we arrived we loved it!! The atmosphere, the decor and the staff were all very professional and friendly. We had the set menu which was very well priced. The salted butter and warm sourdough bread was delicious. We cannot fault the roast dinner it was incredible and was also a very large portion which was something we were not expecting. The roast potatoes were definitely a highlight they were enormous and it was all cooked perfectly, lovely and crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and the white chocolate cheesecake which were both also delicious. We recommended the restaurant to my parents who went the following weekend, they were also very impressed!! We cannot wait to come back soon and try more from the menu.

Had a lovely meal here after the movies. My partner had garlic filet and said it was marvellous, I had pepper filet and it was accurately scrumptious!

Went to the restaurant in London and loved it. Do not expect the same from MK. Total rubbish.

Unfortunately when i tried to order my meal i was disappointed to find out they had ran out of the bigger sharing steaks but it wasnt a issue as the chief put together a special 3 steak combo which was cooked to perfection, then only charged us the price of what I had originally intended to order Needless to say the service was excellent and the food was what you would expect form such a high end establishment

Not been here for a while, pre COVID, so, so disappointed,. Not even ordered the food yet. 5 minute wait before I was greeted, and pointed to my table. 10 minutes, before I was asked if I would like a drink … more to follow. No idea, how to make a classic Cosmopolitan, it’s not on the menu.. okay, okay the food has redeemed the situation. Denni is a rather good host … now the mains are here, filet steak should melt in your mouth, not this one … my family are happy with their, but have filets, cremated.. look we had a nice night … will not return…

Signature fillet steak not cooked to required standard, meat tough, not a fillet quality-more like an old cow or not well aged rump cut, mushrooms prepared from dried ones; hopefully one off bad ones.

Service fantastic, very frustrated to hear that the Stadium that the restaurant premises is based in takes all the tips.

Once I located this restaurant in the maze of the Hilton/Stadium MK building I came away pretty happy with the quality of the meal and the price wasn't as high as I feared it might be (NB they add a 10% service charge automatically). I was dining very early, just after 5pm, and had no complaints about the service from the friendly staff and the wait for each course was minimal. I did find the musak overly loud, maybe once the place fills up they need the music to be heard over people talking? My recollection is that the seating was comfortable and the décor pleasant but it didn't register in my memory. I went with a Caesar Salad as starter, good portion size although the anchovy tasted more like it was raw rather than in olive oil and the dressing had too much white wine vinegar, being quite pungent. For main I kept it simple with peppered fillet steak with extra onion rings. The onion rings made me chuckle, each one varied in size and they were stacked in a tower like the rings of a child's toy. The steak was lovely, perfectly done and tender and the Koffman-supplied chips were good too. Top marks here. The wine and spirits list is extensive, bottles of red begin around the £30 mark. They do have beers on tap if you ask, I went with an IPA which was very drinkable. For the starter, main and drink the total bill for one was around £55. You could easily double this with wines, brandies etc. All in all I didn't feel I'd been fleeced or was just 'paying for the name' of Marco Pierre White on the door.

The atmosphere was really pleasant. Lively ambiance and lovely music. The food was really good as well. The only downside was the service. Everything took really long and we ended up skipping dessert as we couldn’t wait for it. Overall, lovely food and great atmosphere but the service needs to improve.

We usually celebrate special occasions at this restaurant and have had many enjoyable family meals. This time we chose to come on a Sunday and all had the roast beef which I can say was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately the Yorkshire puddings were very hard and tasteless. We got a very meagre amount of vegetables and was amazed we had to pay extra for cauliflower cheese. The restaurant was almost empty but we had to wait to be served for quite a while, the waitresses were standing talking at the bar. We chose a cheaper bottle of wine as felt to charge £40.00 for a bottle of Prosecco was rather steep. We did however purchase 3 glasses as it was a special occasion. The waitress never once offered to refill our glasses and we had to call them over to re order extra drinks for the children and adults. Overall we did not enjoy the experience this time and will think twice before rebooking. Maybe other customers were thinking this and it was why it was so quiet.

We were looking forward to this as it’s our wedding anniversary and we had been sent MPW vouchers to use. We had bread, olives and a bottle of water to start with. So far so good, although the bottle wasn’t opened or poured. We did it. We also had a cocktail each which was nice. We both had the scotch egg, which was very tasty, and as we had already been informed as we had asked, no guarantee of the egg yolk being runny. It’s wasn’t which was a shame. We followed that with chateaubriand, very good and presented well with chips and a pepper sauce and a bernaise. We ordered sides of onion rings - very good, salad - very poor, just dumped in a bowl, and garlic pawns - again poor, all shell and we counted 3 prawns, which makes it £3.33 per prawn! We did mention this and to be fair both the salad and prawns were deducted from the bill. Bottle of wine, Malbec was good. I think that the music was poorly chosen and there was no atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff were all helpful enough but maybe lacking in friendliness. Won’t be rushing back

I booked afternoon tea at Marcos for my bridal shower and was utterly disappointed with the service I received. I was provided a number of false promises by the manager beforehand; and was specifically informed that we would be made a ‘fuss’ of due to it being a special event. Upon arrival, we had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive. We were not offered drinks and when we asked for the food and drinks to come out, the attitude of the staff was incredibly rude. One waitress placed all of the food on one table, and did not communicate that this was to be shared between the two separate tables. When we asked for some food to be placed on the other table the waitress has the audacity to accuse the entire party of moving the food ourselves! The waitress then refused to provide more food as apparently there was nothing left to prepare some sandwiches. The situation was very embarrassing for me, as I was hosting a special event for my closest friends and family who had travelled hours to come to MK. Putting the service aside, the portions were very small and not worth the price. When the tea did (eventually) come out, it was lukewarm and no one wanted to drink them. We asked for some sandwiches appropriate for a 2 year old, however they provided sandwiches with a spicy mustard/ horseradish filling… anyone with common sense would know that this is not appropriate for a young child to eat. Also, I had specially come to the restaurant during the week to ensure that everything would be set up. I selected the table, however upon arrival, the wrong table was set up! We all had to wait a long time for the waitresses to re set the correct table. My family and friends were of course hungry and thirsty after their travels. Overall, the service was outrageous and I will not be attending this restaurant again. It made a special event very stressful for me and my family.

A disappointing afternoon tea - chunky cucumber sandwiches with virtually no cream cheese, only black tea or coffee offered and slow service. Scones and cakes were very tasty however, these were not plentiful.

The staff were great though it took 20mins to get my drink….. I went on my own and was put in a dark corner out the way, I chose the fillet stake it was nice but very small and nothing I couldn’t have done at home. All in all nice but disappointing.

Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. Terrible chewy steak, poorly cooked pasta. Rude staff. Worst steak experience of my life. Go to Miller and Carter.

I love steaks. I make them a lot and I frequent good steakhouses a lot. My order is always a ribeye, cooked medium-well (don’t judge me!). At good steak places and my own kitchen, medium-well steaks are most flavourful and juicy. At Marco Pierre’s I placed my usual order and put came the driest most overcooked piece of meat I’ve ever been served (I have had Wetherspoons steaks and Gordon Ramsay’s, just for perspective). I have attached an image of that. When the server came to ask how my meal was I let her know, but I said I’m starving after a long day of work so I’m just going to eat it instead of sending it back. She insisted on making me a new one. She asked if I have ever had a medium- well steak before and I said yes this is my usual order. I watched as she told the chef about my food and he seemed annoyed (it’s an open kitchen). He made me a new steak and as I cut into it, it was proper rare (image attached). My husband likes his steak rare so he ate it after finishing his own meal (he asked for rare and was served medium well!). I don’t expect to pay this kind of money for a disastrous steak followed by another disastrous steak. It seemed like the chef was almost serving me this very rare steak as a gesture of spite. Good points - service was great, really friendly staff and nice atmosphere Bad points - the food is not as good as advertised. I had a sirloin steak and a cheesecake. Firstly the steak was not cooked to medium rare, it was rare and bloody instead (I don’t mind it, but it's not what I asked for). And the steak was so salty it was like it was drowned in seawater. Then when I received the cheesecake, it was all mush, which I believe it was left in the kitchen somewhere on the side to defrost and forgotten. The atmosphere etc is all good, but I don’t recommend the food at all.

Wow wow wow! From the minute we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the MPW Team. The restaurant was spotless and contemporarily laid out. We were with friends for an afternoon tea experience and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Delicious, fresh sandwiches along with a delightful array of scrumptious cakes and scones. Nothing was too much trouble for the team who attentively looked after us. Kirsten is everyone’s dream waitress. Polite … attentive … very witty and extremely funny! She kept our ‘boys’ in their places! We will be back … this time to sample the delicious steaks we saw coming from the professional steak chefs. Thank you all for delivering a wonderful experience.

Excellent meal. I could not fault it. Started with French Onion Soup. I would highly recommend it. The steak was beautifully cooked. Just no complaints about the food. I have dropped a star though as after I had laid I found out that the 10% discretionary service charge does not all go to the staff but u0% goes to the Stadium. Had I known that in advance I would have declined the charge. It is just no right. I have dined in the Marco Pierre White in Durham and had a steak there. Chalk and cheese. In Durham the meal was no better than a cheap pub meal.

Had lunch before attending a concert on Sunday. The restaurant looks lovely and fully air conditioned and Kirsty and the team were great. However the food!! I am dairy and gluten intolerant. A server intolerance. The kitchen made this quite a traumatic and protracted affair! Bare in mind there were 5 tables of which two were on desert and one was at billing stage…. I really question your Chef’s lack of attention to details. What if it was a with life threatening allergy? Firstly I was served normal butter on my toast that goes with the prawn cocktail (starter). I work in hospitality and I run a Hotel in Bath. I am also a trained Chef. Our H&S rules / guidance at work and everywhere I have worked states that the most senior members of the team has to handle orders for guests with allergies and intolerances… and in your case this was the Chef on the day. The fact that I sent the toast back to get new ones would have reiterate the fact that I am dairy intolerant. I cannot take chances. By the way the toast came back bare, like dry cardboard. Marco Pierre White’s restaurant did not have non dairy butter, like flora, or margarine!?! The chef then proceeded to serving me roast potatoes that had been cooked in milk(that alone is just weird) never heard of it before!! Why would you cook roast potatoes in milk? How about if you had vegan and other dairy intolerant guests that day. All the veg on the plate were cooked in butter. And served to me who a few minutes after I’d sent back the prawn cocktail to be redone!?! Luckily Kirsty was at hand to remedy the problem. This meant other foods got cold by the time mine was redone. Replacement veg. (steamed spinach, blanched peas)… that’s it. And chip. We are not cheap skates we bought a nice bottle of wine. Our bill was over £100.00…. That’s just a lunch. I am hoping to receive a reply and an apology

Possibly one of the worse meal experiences I've ever had. Overpriced, undercooked, poor quality food and poor service. When I politely pointed out (when asked "was everything OK?) that a third of my steak consisted of gristle and non-rendered fat so was impossible to cut...

Hard to find and they don't answer their phone either when I couldn't find it. Good service, polite waiters but poor food quality. Sirloin steak was tough and not rare as I asked. The burger bun was dry and cheap Very disappointed.

Having just returned from having a wonderful experience, I felt it only right to leave a review for my Afternoon Tea. We were greeted with a warm and friendly manor and shown to our table. The restaurant is clean and tidy and the tables nicely...

It's quite frustrating to eat at a well known restaurant and get mediocre food. Mustard does not go on red meat and the chocolate desert was not dark chocolate. Dissapointing overall.

The food here is exquisite. Best steak I ever had. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the wines - when our choice was unavailable, she found us another which is now our preferred steak wine.

I would like to say this was amazing, that's what I was expecting, we spent the best part of $200 for food that at best can be described as average, however if lamb is your thing then that was the best of the 3 dishes, disappointed much. And you know it's bad when the loud foul mouthed couple on another table ask for tomato sauce.

Very nice but unusual place it’s in the Milton Keynes stadium, food very good we have been several times and always enjoyed our food, they cater for gluten free meals, staff friendly and helpful. Look forward to our next visit

We came as a family of 4 for the Sunday lunch, and from the start the staff were great with advising on the options for the children etc. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Food was absolutely lovely, best roast dinner in a long time. And we were served mainly by Cairo, who was an absolute gent all the way through.

My daughter treated me to lunch here for Mother's Day. Wonderful friendly and knowledgeable waiting staff. Pristine white linen tablecloths and napkins really set the scene; tables widely spaced out and a general, gentle atmosphere. Although the restaurant was busy, there were plenty of staff...

Had a lovely waitress Suzan who was just amazing at her job communicating and also recommended probably the best steak I’ve ever had will be going there again simply to the fact I value customer service highly and grateful I experienced a top experience!

What a proper 'hidden' gem.. I say hidden because it seems to be hidden in a large football stadium. . The food was amazing with the steaks done to perfection...often tricky for me because I like them so rare.. The staff were very helpful and very attentive. The one quirk I would mention is that the signage to the place whilst inside the stadium is confusing. One sign said 2nd floor , elevator said it was on the 3rd. It is on the 2nd... Lol

Very slow service The lamb I had was well done not even a blush left to the meat but by that point we just wanted to leave so I didn’t send it back. The dish was so over salted that that was all I could taste once I’d finished. My boyfriend’s roast chicken was nice which is why this review isn’t 2* We both had the rhubarb and peach gimlet, the first round was nice and tart the second round was almost entirely peach purée so not consistent at all!

The quality of the food from starter to dessert was exceptional - I really cannot fault it in anyway. The service was good too and a good choice of wines. Price wise - it was not cheap, but you get what you pay for and...

I took my 2 children who are 8 & 10. The food choices and service was excellent and everything was cooked really well. The staff were all really nice and made sure the boys had a good time. Will definitely be back

We have eaten here quite a few times with no problem but today my ribeye steak was so chewy. If the waitress had bothered to visit us during the meal I would have said something about it but even then the last thing I would want is a replacement so while I am waiting for it, my wife would have finished hermeal and then watched me eat mine.

Visited on a quiet Tuesday evening, expected a good level of service and food quality given the reverence of MPW's reputation, sadly the experience was unmemorable. Starters, Scotch Egg and Smoked Salmon, Scotch Egg sausage was undercooked and the hard boiled egg was very hard...

Just wanted to say that we did have an amazing meal at Marco’s on the Stadium MK. Food was delicious, staff friendly and we will definitely return .

Our experience was absolutely flawless. Choice of menu was excellent, we were spoilt for choice. What we selected was fabulous, the service was exceptional as well. We are certainly looking forward to going again. Ambiance was very relaxing as well.

Sorry had better food in weatherspoons. Had Traditional fish n chips skin still on fish black fish not a good look batter wet . My partner had a chicken dish and a chainsaw wouldn't have cut it . First time last time. But the girl who served us was very nice .

Really disappointed. 20 mins to get our first drink. A rare ribeye was medium. A medium sirloin was well done. Ribeye was poorly seasoned and tasted quite salty. Sticky toffee pudding was very dry. Service was slow and the place wasn't even busy. Cutlery didn't look clean and was smeary.

Fantastic restaurant serving the best steaks. The staff were polite and helpful, and it was a lovey atmosphere. The only downside is that the restaurant is a nightmare to find in the hotel.

First time eating at marco pierres restaurant and the last, lunchtime menu was terrible ordered a chicken dish couldn't even cut into it and chips were cold, returned to the kitchen and ordered something else by the time it arrived my partner had eaten his meal, which was the traditional fish and chips fish ver soggy with black skin still leftvon fish , ordered dessert apple crumble, smothered in crumble very little apple, then when presented with bill put a gratuity charge on, lady who waited on us very pleasant, but as for food shocking, can't blame them being over busy there were only 6 of us in total in whole restaurant very poor will not return or recommend

Really disappointed to give only four stars as the food was five stars… try the Fillet of Beef Au Poivre, it won’t disappoint. Service very odd, kept trying to take away plates which still had food on. Took 25 minutes for my drink to arrive after ordering it. No wine cooler for the white wine, had to request one. Very hot in the restaurant too, although they put the air conditioning on when mentioned. Shame I can’t give it a higher rating.
