This restaurant takes the word 'authentic' to quite a new level! I'm sure we've all eaten in restaurants which say they provide an "authentic taste of......" but Manju's not only offers authentic regional indian cooking but also has the courage to take you away from the familiar english version of indian cookery to the kind of flavours and dishes you might actually expect in Gujarat, all freshly prepaired by someone who clearly knows what they're doing. If you want chicken tikka masarla then this is not the place for you. An experience not to be missed.

This was a very unique dining experience and I wish there were more places out there like this! We were told the background behind every dish we were served, we were spoken to personally about our experience and felt very welcome and comfortable by very friendly staff. I love the sharing nature of the dishes and that they’re freshly cooked to order. The Chili Paneer was my favourite, we actually ended up ordering a second portion of this! I would highly recommend Manju’s to anyone considering booking a table!

Great authentic Indian food, but catered somewhat to the western palette. Jami and Hitesh are really lovely guys, and I love the fact that they bought the restaurant for their mother, Manjuali 80th birthday. My only issue is that the restaurant is very small. Me and my wife are quite big people, due to health issues. On top of that my wife is disabled and was crammed in against the wall, whilst I had the waiters and people coming and going constantly brushing passed behind me to get by. Quite frustrating when you've had a really busy day. I do recommend eating here as the food is outstanding. However, if your body is on the larger side then you may have the same issues as I've highlighted. Hopefully, in the future Manju's will get a larger premises and we will be returning, but until then, sadly we will not be coming back.

I would recommend Manjus. The food was mostly delicious although one or two dishes could've done with slightly more depth of flavour. Also the chilli paneer was very hot (not complaining, just a warning!). Highlights were the spinach/onion bhaji and the caramelised carrot dessert, both were superb.Service was great, really efficient and friendly. But I objected slightly to the officious text message before arrival telling us that our table was only reserved for 90 mins. That isn't long enough for a relaxing, three course meal and unsurprisingly we were still at our table at 10pm, 2 hours after arriving. Given there was clearly no subsequent booking for our table, I didn't understand the slightly aggressive nature of that text. But overall, a good experience and recommended

A pleasant experience- but not a 5 star one. I appreciate the authenticity and uniqueness of manjus amongst numerous other Indian restaurants- it definately felt different and was good to experience. However, the food largely tasted quite average- some dishes were very nice but most were actually pretty bland. This would have been ok if it wasn’t for the high prices and expectations. It was a little disappointing. The waitress who served us was a bit grumpy and not particularly friendly (again fine if you’re in a cheap chain restaurant but not what we expected here), and, while it is admirable that their 83 year old mother still works as the chef, when you hear this repeated constantly to everyone who walks through the door, the whole thing starts to sound a little like a sales pitch. Overall, fine, but I think a lot of the appeal of manjus relies on the story behind it (authentic food, family restaurant, mum working as chef), and the food unfortunately fails to live up to expectations. Some genuine tips for the restaurant that would improve the experience for customers: 1. let them know how many more dishes are coming, as we had no idea whether we were halfway through our meal or near the end. 2. Make it clear, as the dishes arrive, which are very spicy.3. Point out any cold dishes as they arrive at the table- we didn’t know what was what.

We went based on the ratings of this restaurant and they lived up to 5 stars! We had 4 starters and 2 mains shared between 2 of us. The paneer starter and main is wonderful as was the deconstructed samoosa and their speciality starter (can't recall the name). The flavors burst in your mouth and hot if you like a bit of heat!Their chilled alcohol free drinks are amazing as is their gin collection. Service is efficient and the owner is very friendly and informative on what else we can see in the area. You have to try the ice cream, I have never had such tasteful ice cream before!

A sweet little family restaurant, very reasonably priced and the food looked beautiful. Was very much looking forward to our visit after much research, but the heat from the amount of chilli used made it very very difficult to enjoy. We are big foodies and we don’t shy away from ‘heat’ in food at.all. However we both found it totally overpowering and took the enjoyment away from the food. I mentioned to the waitress that we were finding it too hot and she just looked at me and said “it is Indian food!” (Not the most helpful comment) It was clear a lot of effort had gone into the presentation and the staff were very attentive, but just a shame it wasn’t as enjoyable in the taste.

We were looking for an Indian restaurant with a difference and chose Manju's due to the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. There were 4 of us so, after talking to one of Manju's sons, we chose to have all 12 dishes on the menu to share between us. The food was wonderful, fresh and very tasty and it was lovely that every dish was explained to us when it was served. We are vegetarians but our friends are not but they said that they didn't miss having meat and enjoyed all the dishes that we had. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and it was lovely that both Manju's sons took the time to chat to us. The restaurant was full and you definitely need to book. Sadly we are not local to Brighton but we would definitely return to the restaurant when we come back to the city. We would highly recommend it.

We visited for a birthday celebration meal in the early evening after booking a few days in advance. We were warmly welcomed by Manju's sons. We ordered a wide selection of the dishes that were available, which we all tried. All the dishes including desserts were exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented (it is making me hungry now just thinking about them!). We are vegetarians but I am sure meat eaters would equally appreciate the lovely food. Manju's sons provided friendly and efficient service throughout our visit and there was a lovely atmosphere in the resturant. I agree with all the positive comments expressed in the reviews of others and based on our experience, I am suspicious of the very few negative comments on this site. We had a lovely meal at Manju's. The staff were extremely friendly and took time to explain the dishes and help us make our selections. The dishes are quite small and designed for sharing, but they were all very tasty, full of interesting flavour combinations and quite different from typical Indian restaurant food. Many of the dishes on the menu are made using non-gluten containing ingredients, and being a coeliac the staff were careful to avoid any cross-contamination. There was also a choice of several gluten-free craft beers to accompany the meal.

Highly recommend this little place .. have tried several times to get in but gets fully booked quickly . It was do worth the wait .. do not go thinking that it’s your usual run of the mill curry houses who’s food has been adapted for western taste. Therefore the food is traditional home cooked Indian food and therefore tends to be a little bit more on the spicy side and is tapas style It’s a family run restaurant who genuinely want you to enjoy both the food and the experience and care about what you think . Both food and drinks , cocktails were all great . It’s a very different way of dining and is veggie food only ., but even for meat lovers this won’t be missed as the food is so full of flavour . Not a big place and although they operate two evening sittings you must book. I got lucky with a cancellation when I rang on the day but at least half a dozen groups were turned away while we were there. Lots of small dishes on the menu and idea is you pick approx 3 starters and 2 curries. I'd encourage a sense of adventure and just go with it. The homemade chutneys are incredible and best I've had. Onion bhaji is terrific and curries are rich, packed with flavour. No rice here but chapati are warm and a great alternative. Not sure the total of five dishes I had would be enough for a big eater but a total of 10 dishes for the two of us with glasses of wine was £45. I considered that a bargain considering the lesson in taste I was given.

The food was absolutely incredible. The flavours made your mouth tingle with excitement and it was so authentic, and beautifully presented. We loved that it was a small menu, but with a real variety of options so you could try several different small plates. Honestly can’t wait to return to this amazing gem of a restaurant! Thank you to the family and team who looked after us.

Everything about this place is great. The staff are lovely, the food is authentic and delicious and the atmosphere is cosy. We loved Indian food before coming here and now we find most other Indian restaurants mediocre and want to go back to Manjus!

Do not expect your traditional Indian menu in this place, instead allow them to surprise you with various unique platters that you will remember for a long time. As far as I am concerned, this is my new standard for Indian food. I cannot wait to come back.

My mum and I heard about this place online and decided to try it out. It’s in quite a hippy part of Brighton. We both ordered the thali which was vegetarian and gluten free (came GF as standard). At £10 a thali it was good value and a sufficient portion size for me. The small appetiser was a little hard so I’m guessing it was reheated. Other than that it was all great.

This small family restaurant has a great back-story. Two Gujarati brothers have opened the restaurant for their 82 yr old Mum to cook the food they all grew up with - which is delicious. They all love what they are doing and you will to!

Found this restaurant from Trip advisor reviews. So glad I did. Concept is to try a number of different street food or curry dishes. Food freshly prepared, explained by the really friendly staff and full of multi layered flavour. Not a traditional Indian restaurant but in my view all the better for it. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for a good value friendly food experience.

We are not vegetarians there is no need for meat with these delicious veggie dishes! The flavours of all of the dishes were divine and the presentation of the food was outstanding. The service was excellent too, with super friendly staff who were only too happy to explain the dishes to us. All in all a most enjoyable meal in every way, we will certainly be back.

We were a party of four and visited Manjus' on Saturday night - having booked a table well in advance - which I would highly advise. The restaurant is small and very much a family run business. The service was excellent from all members of staff. The dishes varied enough to give you a real sense of flavours. We loved it so much that we will be returning. Thank you Manjus' for a fabulous dining experience.

This is a jewel of a place. Its cosy and popular. You'll need to book in advance. Currently the menu is Street food which means there's a limited choice of dishes. The flavours are fresh and beautifully layered with enough chilli to add warmth.

Great food, great service, and lovely atmosphere. Also really pleased to hear that they won't compromise the quality of their food and the style of their restaurant by inviting deliveroo, justeat, and ubereats to deliver their food. Great stuff!

The service was great, all the tables were reserved and they said they could seat us as long as they could have the table back in an hour and a half, which suited us great! However, I wasn't a fan of the tapas style serving and the food was very mediocre...but it has a nice atmosphere and lovely people running it, a very popular place, it just wasn't for me.

My favourite vegetarian Indian restaurant in Brighton. The menu changes from time to time but the food is always great and the service too.

Subtle and intriguing flavours with authentic tastes. Nice to have a wide variety of dishes arriving at intervals. This is high quality food, and better than comparable places in the city. We ordered 6 dishes between us and I did still feel hungry afterwards as the portions are small especially considering the price.

I can’t remember a meal I have enjoyed so much recently. We ordered one of everything to share. It is authentic vegetarian food that comes out as and when. Dishes were explained by the waiter and at least half are gluten free. I haven’t got a favourite as they were all great. The excitement was savouring the different flavours. Service is excellent and atmosphere friendly and welcoming. We will be back.

We ordered one of everything the menu to share. You really can’t fault it, I couldn’t even pick a favourite dish for some reason it was my first time trying paneer, delicious! Everything was vegetarian and the lady cooking was so lovely I Bumped into her on the way to the bathroom. The decor is lovely and it’s reasonably priced.

Whilst wanting to keep this superb service top secret, I also want them to succeed. You book via WhatsApp a time slot and they send you a menu to select from. Monthly specials are worth it. This is delivery only, placed lovingly in tiffin tins, which are collected the next morning. Slots go quickly, so get in there; you won’t regret it.
