Manjaros in Newcastle upon Tyne

Greeted by polite and friendly staff and shown to our table. The table itself was uncomfortable, no room for legs! We were only a table of 2 had there been any more of us it would have been a struggle to sit through a meal. The food itself was absolutely delightful, I had half a Parmo and my partner had the Rasta rice…..both delicious. As they don’t serve alcohol they aren’t subject to serving tap water which was also disappointing, but overall we would return for the food…..or maybe get it to take away.

Superb service from Lexi, the food and drinks are also amazing. It’s a good choice if you wanna have dinner with ur friends. Highly recommend chicken cajun wrap!

Went for food with the lads and wasn't disappointed. Creamy Carribbean chicken was beautiful highly recommended it however I was disappointed with the chicken tikka fries, very dry and after the top layer it was just chips. Atmosphere needed abit of music was very flat with no music

Huge portions and great value for money. Regular parmesan is big enough to serve two. The tables/booths are very cramped to maximise space, which does make the seating areas a bit uncomfortable.

Fantastic food. Great service. Atmosphere is very casual; akin to any popular chain. Parking can be difficult, but that's to be expected from any town centre venue. 9/10, would definitely go back!

Just been for food with my father and couldn't argue about the service if tried haha, Farhan was absolutely brilliant, made us feel welcomed and is an asset to the restaurant! We will definitely be back again without a doubt

Hi we recently visited Manjaros Sunderland from arriving to leaving we were extremely pleased.the food was exceptional one of the best parmos I have ever tasted so well done to the staff who prepared the food it was well presented and the taste was out this world the lady that served us her name was Sophie she was very pleasant and asked us if we needed anything else she made our visit even better she also explained that there will be more things going on the menu so we will definitely be back again so once again can I say thank you for a good experience the food was outstanding and Sophie she went out her way to help you so a big thank you to her 👏👏 keep up the good work and this place will be packed every week

Dishonest. Ordered a regular size parmo and some tap water as I see no point in paying for bottled water. Was told by the waitress that Manjaros do not have a licence to serve alcohol and therefore they are prohibited from serving tap water. Asked for the manager who repeated the same nonsense, so left. Avoid, unless you're fine with being taken for a fool.

First time going to manjaros and the food was really good! I enjoyed being there until the very end where we finished our food and one of the waitress came up to us and handed the bill which we never asked for. Yes I understand it was getting busy but there was no signs on the table saying a maximum of 2 hours to stay if it got busy and we wanted to stay a bit longer. The waitress kepted looking at us, as she kept passing our table. She came back to us again and repeated about how busy it was and where we could pay. At this point, I was fumming and got put off to ever come back to this restaurant with that behaviour.

Myself and some colleagues went to Manjaros for a celebratory lunch. We were surprised at the waiter’s attitude as she appeared quite dismissive and rude - although she was friendlier towards the end of the experience. I was told that the restaurant “didn’t have” tap water, which is wild. Most of us ordered the small size Hot Shot Chicken Parm. The portion sizes were impressive and the wait for food was quite short, however we were disappointed by the lack of flavours. The peppers distinctly bland and we needed to use the table hot sauce to make up for it. The atmosphere was okay. But definitely not as welcoming or appealing as other Afro-Caribbean restaurants on offer in the area.

The only place I have ever been that DOES NOT SERVE TAP WATER! You have to buy a VOSS glass water bottle at around £4! They do not have a licence for alcohol (which is how they legally are allowed not to give you tap water). Food is good but labelling misleading, the regular sizes noted as small to pressure you into buying extra large portions. Two additional positives include the ability to take your food away and pay at the till independently on leaving.

Farhan was super friendly and very accommodating; food’s good as always.

Had a Wonderful time. They Sat 12 of us late at night and the food was fast and delicious. Lucy was our phenomenal waitress who was very attentive and came around very regularly to check on us and gave us AMAZING service.

I hated all the restaurants in newcastle until I finally found manjaros , Farhan is incredible and deserves a promotion because he’s the only reason I would come back, the service and professionalism it is great and reminds me how it used to be back in the 90s. Chip portions were a downside tho so fix that. But again farhan just blew me away.

Lovely food, and exceptional customer service, shoutout Farhan that guy is the best server in Newcastle. And the parmos are nice but the chip portions are kinda sad.

Always wanted to visit here after hearing many good reviews about the place, food was really really nice, I have no complaints at all. The large parmo is really large and it was delicious. Choice of drinks could be improved however. I also think the amount of delivery drivers that are constantly in and out of the door and standing around the door, let it down a bit, would maybe be best if there was a separate entrance for them. Staff were all friendly, service was quick once we got seated.

We came in for a lil birthday lunch and had Farhan serve us, loved the service, he was fun and friendly!! 🤩 The food was great, so we're the vibes and the price. 🥂😮‍💨😋 Highkey recommend Manjaros (ask for Farhan haha)

bad customer service couldnt even eat without getting looked at, got ignored, food took about nearly an hour very disapointed, poor seating area aswell, no privacy.

Been going to manjaros since they were a little shop in linthorpe Road over 15 years ago. Go to all the restaurants in Middlesbrough darlington and Newcastle but will never return again after today. Every time I go to dine in manjaros with the family I get my son something small from outside as he is fussy and doesn't eat anything from their menu. We still order 3 other meals and spend £30+ each time. Yet today for the first time in over 5 years of dining with them and bringing outside food in, one of the waitress tells me he can't eat outside food. Absolutely ridiculous amd would've walked out if my food wasn't already served on the table. Will never return again after over 15 years of custom. Reminder to the owner to not forgot his humble beginnings with a small shop on linthorpe Road.

Was invited by my girlfriends family to a dinner at Manjaros. I usually don't write reviews but I thought this time I would. I thought the dinner was absolutely stunning, the atmosphere and buzz about the restaurant was amazing and all this was enhanced greatly by our lovely waitress, I believe her name was Danielle. Imagine a cross between Nando’s and a pizza/kebab takeaway….but with comfy seats. Food was fast and tasty. Good for a quick and easy bite to eat.

Me and my friend come every week and it’s become a weekly routine. The staff are so friendly and lovely, especially Nagham and Farhan. It’s a large portion with so many flavors, would definitely recommend :)

Visited with a family group. Initially met upon entry and shown to table. So far so good. It then took a further 15 minutes before anyone returned to take our drinks and food orders. Menu has a good section and caters for everyone. Portion size was good and you’ll not leave hungry. However some points to address. Priority seems to be given to the constant flow of delivery drivers who take up all the wait staffs time. Our food was sitting on the pass for 5 mins before being brought to our table. The steak cut chips are just frozen chips. One of our party asked for a small glass of water to take their heart medication. Only to be told we don’t do that but we can sell you a bottle of water. Licensed premises in England are by law required to provide “free potable water”. This needs to be addressed.

We had a very bad experience at Manjaros Newcastle. Our prawn Rasta Rice had a fragment of a steel scourer or metal in it. My friend nearly consumed it. If she had ingested it. she might have choked, internally cut herself and gone to hospital. Just imagine the consequences. The staff apologised and complimented that particular dish. Upon further dissatisfaction, we were given 20% off our meal but we are really unhappy about this terrible experience. We often eat at Manjaros and our trust has completely gone for this establishment. Our friends say, the whole meal should not have been charged but that was not the case.

Spent £52 on meals for takeaway. The refused to give any sauces unless we paid £1 each. If you sit in you get free sauces which makes no sense as you have to pay staff etc. You charge so much for your meals, the least you can do is give few free sauces tubs

Had a collection order which I was really unhappy with. The chips were dry as anything it was like eating cardboard. We asked for our pasta to have the mushrooms removed that didn’t happen and our loaded fries had no sight of any jalepenos despite on the menu it saying with jalepenos

Best parmos I've ever had. Come here pretty much once a month and never disappointed. Try the loaded bbq beef sticky fries, they're brilliant.

My husband and I recently had a delicious meal at Manjaros prior to attending a gig at the Tyne theatre. I had the carribean lamb curry and it was delicious. The staff where brilliant in particular our server Bradley. We will definitely be back.
