We stopped here for lunch on August Bank Holiday Monday, completely on spec. This is a nice traditional pub serving a range of established drink brands and also some local ales. The clientele was a mix of locals and tourists. The menu caters for all choices… light hot lunches, sandwiches and main plates. All of them are good traditional pub food choices. We sat outside and the atmosphere and outlook was very pleasant. The quality of the food was excellent. I had fish and chips from the specials board. The batter was thin, light and crispy. The fish inside was cooked to perfection. The portion was huge! The staff were very helpful… we were warned of a 30 minute wait as the kitchen was flat out at that point, but once they were ready to accept new orders, we were immediately informed and our food was then served promptly. Highly recommended!

Lovely pub, that we were relieved to discover after cooking the hill from the river. Dogs allowed inside and out and they provided water for us. We had the homemade fish finger baguette and a prawn and smoked salmon salad. Both were enormous and came with home made sauces. Very very tasty. Lovely smiley service and a decent price.

Great food, nothing too much trouble. They were very accommodating re 4 year old's dairy allergy and fussy eating, in terms of customising the whole menu for him so not limited to children's menu. We had fish goujons and prawn cocktail off the starter menu, as hot day and not hungry for full meal. Lovely, tasty food. Thoroughly recommended. Very friendly, welcoming staff too.

My wife and I took a trip to Ross-on-WyeStopped for a drink at the Man of Ross it was a lovely sunny afternoon which was somewhat spoiled by the service we received from someone called NessaIt was the day of the Duke of Edinburgh‘s funeral and a few people stood up as a mark of respect during the minute silence however 30 seconds in this lady came out and shouted to everyone to sit down and everybody agreed it was such a disrespectful thing to do as there was only a few seconds left. I found this very disappointing and so did a number of other people. Also when my wife and myself arrived and spoke she noticed our Welsh accent and said in a derogative way that “we had your lot in yesterday”.

Came here to meet family half way from Wales. After all the great reviews, I decided to book here for lunch. I wish I hadn't and I should have gone with my initial instinct when I called to book. The person (male) that I spoke to on the phone was rude and abrupt when taking my booking. The guy that greeted us and showed us our table was pleasant. Very much on the ball, took our drinks order instantly and our food order. The lady who served our food was so rude. She kept checking to see if she could take clear our table, as soon as our plates were cleared, she brought the bill and the card machine. We weren't offered any more drinks or asked if we wanted anything else. I enquired about dessert and they're currently doing a limited menu due to Covid, which is absolutely fine. We then continued to have a bit of a chat after paying our bill and the same lady kept coming over to check to see if she could relay our table. We felt so uncomfortable. She then told us our table was booked out in 20 mins time, which was fine and meant that we were allocated the able for 1 hour 45. We had no problem with this, but it would have been really helpful to have been told beforehand and with the right attitude. In the end, we just left as we felt so uncomfortable and for me, it ruined our family meet up. The food is average, portion sizes are huge (which I can imagine a lot of food goes to waste), and the service and attitude of some staff is appalling. Im really surprised at the high reviews this place gets.

It obviously has a lot of history, I know that because it is written on the outside wall. The pub is at the top of the hill so a trek upwards if you are coming from the river direction and a little less arduous from the town.Covid restrictions are in place at the moment and we sat outside where there is plenty of seating. I only had a half of London Pride and you wife had a small white wine. Both were poured well and tasted fine. You could tell, it was high quality meat and ingredients and was full of flavour. The bacon on the burger was almost like gammon (in a good way). The chips were similar to ones from the chip shop and were great. My partner who had the fish and chips said it was the best fish and chips they had ever had - It was also huge. I thoroughly enjoyed the local beer, delicious hake and sticky toffee pudding. I returned for a nice hot chocolate the next day.

We called in for a drink and were tempted by the menu so had lunch too. The home made fish finger sandwiches were delicious. Lots of fish and light baguette and lovely salad. Beer was good too.

Having perused TA to find the nest pub food in Ross on Wye I had settled on the Man of Ross as my chosen venue for lunch.

A nice pub and eatery, near the river and on the corner of the main shopping area. Very friendly staff, excellent local food at good prices, very generous servings. To be recommended

Ended up in this great little pub most evenings whilst spending a week in Ross fishing with friends. Friendly staff and locals who made us feel at home. The food was excellent pub fare with massive portions. My only criticism was that there was very little alternative to chips with each menu option. My friends and I would defianately go back though.

Popped in for a few pints in the afternoon. What was apparent straight away was the friendliness of the staff. We sat outside on the front terrace in the sun. The food we saw people eating looked really nice, and ample portions. The inside of the pub was very nice too. Next time we will try the food, it's just that we were booked in to an Italian restaurant. I'll be back.
