Malikas in Oxford

Delicious currys, naan and paneer.

It was all good but despite ordering medium spice for two dishes they were very hot!

Not the same anymore. We are loyal customer ad tonight we are disappointed we had a very hot curry while we asked for mild. It was different than what we used to have ( always have Pathia and Bhuna. )

The medium offerings of the dishes are way too hot. The lamb dhansak was far too spicy for a medium. Spoiled the meal.

Disappointed with my order. The king prawn Puri was tasty but the prawns were pretty small. My wife enjoyed her Biryani. I had the Mottor Baigon (Chickpea & Aubergine curry) and rice. The curry was just Chickpeas and Aubergine but without any sauce, just oil. Pretty bland and tasteless to be honest. Had to liven it up with some extra sauce at home. Not as good as Malikas on Cowley Rd.

Terrible meal !! on delivery two mains had leaked in bag. Parathas hard . both mixed starters missing onion bhajis once again?? . Masala sauce not pleasant . Sag paneer had mixed with the leaked mains not ideal for a vegetarian who could not eat it . Will not ever be ordering again.

Food was 25 mins later than the latest expected time

The "vegetarian" feast came with a meat starter. The mild option was medium and the medium option was mild.

Lovely hot fresh food and very friendly delivery driver. Best Indian I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be going here again

This was really good, absolutely no complaints. The food was really tasty, each dish very different from the next. The shashlik was amazing. Lots of meat in the curried and sauce was plentiful. Would and have recommended to friends and will most definitely order again.

Original delivery time should have been between 18.25 and 18.45, it arrived at 7.16 and was cold.

Booked table on website only to find out it is now an Italian. There seem to be plenty of other restaurants on the same street to choose from though.

First time ordering from Malikas, it was delicious! The Saag Maacli was delicious, highly recommended to any fish/ spinach combo lovers. Tantalisingly tasty! The naan was still warm and very fresh. Only negative being the missing mango chutney 😭

Food late ,food cold ,drinks warm ,bland tasting not impressed at all would like a refund but won’t waste my time trying standards have gone right down hill used to be nice food

The chips we’re refried inedible I threw them away the sheek kebab starter was tiny and gave me the trot’s the madras was more like a vindaloo it was that hot didn’t see a hint of meat in the keema naan waste of money

Food was cold. I ordered Popadoms and pickles and ordered two chutneys: I received one pot of mango and a pot of mint sauce between 2 people with starters - there was no option for type of chutney, just chutney. So I assume they haven’t sent mint with the starters. A bit disappointing really.

Good food but over 30 minutes late

Arrived 2 hours after ordering. After message saying delivery was finally on its way. Another 30 mins. Asked the driver about the 2 hours delivery time. And he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. Food stone cold. And every dish extremely salty. What was my favourite restaurant, Is no longer🥲

Food is usually good. Ordered same as usual but it was terrible today. One dish just in oil rather than sauce, the rest so salty it was unpalatable. Nothing like its usual quality

A good selection of items to choose from on the menu. Our choices were delivered on time and were tasty. We'd definitely order from here again and visit when possible.

The naan bread was cold and the rice wasn't hot enough and the King prawn balti tasted a bit like it was made from a sauce in a jar with too much garam masala added, but the rest of the food was lovely.

Food was stone cold, food was crushed at the bottom and I ordered at 12:50pm, and it arrived at 15:05. 2nd time this has happened. Will not be ordering again, lady on the phone was rude and sounded like she didnt want to be there.

App said delivered and it wasn’t. It’s seems a simple thing to get right no! I’ve put one star for everything that’s not to do with delivery as I haven’t had the food.

Great at always. Malikas is my choice for curry everytime in Oxford. Simply amazing - Dhansak is a must try.

The ordering service was easy and simple and a discount was given when buying over a certain amount. However I would be careful to order from here again as the food was extremely late in delivery, the delivery driver was polite, unfortunately he didn't know where to go. The food itself was poor, it was edible but was full of oil, the food process is clearly using way too much oil in their cooking and it felt like we were eating more oil than actual food itself. Very disappointed in the food.

80 minutes wait time, for cold rubbery Chips, grease from curry all over every items boxes. Korma tastes nothing like how it should.

Food arrived earlier than advised - great. Food was excellent and did not need to be reheated. Will definitely use again.

Food late and cold. Got told that my number was wrong by driver like it was my fault, never had a problem being called before. Not impressed.

I always order madras curry but tonight it’s just far to hot to eat

After placing the order, I almost immediately got a notification from the app that the order would be delayed, by twenty minutes. Five minutes after that new delivery time had rolled past, still no food, and I checked the app, and it was still saying order delayed, delivery time remained the same (i.e. now in the past). I phoned the restaurant, and after a few minutes on hold after taking my details, the person answering the phone told me that the delivery had already left, but the traffic was bad. Shortly after that, the app updated from the generic order delayed to Enjoy your food, but the delivery estimate remained in the past. It took another half hour for the food to arrive, so the restaurant had definitely lied to me - I even checked Google Maps, and there was no unusual traffic showing, and the store is only 10 minutes drive or so. My usually excellent Murgh Nawabi was not as expected - the sauce was very different, thinner than usual, with a slight sweetness and creaminess. It tasted as if they just didn't have the regular sauce ready, so had slapped the meat ingredients in a random sauce they did have to get it out of the door and delivered.

Food was cold and not enjoyable

The food, if warm, may have been nice. But by the time you’ve warmed it through in the oven, you’re already too annoyed to enjoy it

No answer from restaurant when called - food half an hour late. Ordered at 19:30 with an arrival time between 20:40 - 21:00 and arrived and arrives half an hour late

Two hours since we have ordered, no food, 35 mins outside the upper range in the delivery window and an hour later than the early range. Tried to ring restaurant multiple times, initially for an update and now go cancel. No answer.

Avoid! It's not just that the food was over an hour late, or the fact that they didn't communicate with us, or that the food was cold and, TBH, not very nice... It was that the restaurant team clearly didn't care, when we did speak to them. Never using again

The container for my lamb dish costing £10.50 was half empty!

First time to taste a burnt biryani and had to pay for it too. Never again

Food was lovely, delivery was late and some items missing but they redelivered the missing items which was lovely.

Still waiting on food that I ordered over an hour ago. Mt delivery time was the latest of 7.20pm and currently it is 7.51pm.

Food arrived after nearly 2 hrs of waiting and even though I have to call them twice, first call no one answer and went straight to answer machine. Second call a lady answer the phone and said the food was own its way….order the food at around 18:42pm and it arrived 20:55pm with cold food which impact on the quality of the food, tasteless and rather plain food for the hassle of 2 hrs waiting. I won’t be ordering from this restaurant anymore, as it’s not the first time this happen. In fact I am rather disappointed in myself as I am used to order from Cafe Spice (much better food and service) and by a regretful mistake I order from this place again, Sadly 😔 Very disappointed. I am looking to delete this restaurant from my Just Eat feed/list, not sure if it’s possible 🤔 but it would be helpful not to see these kind of restaurant who trade like that.

The food was great but took over fours hours to arrive

An hour late, called restaurant, they struggled to find order then cut me off the call I called back, they said they were just leaving but had 3 or 4 deliveries to do???

I've always liked Malikas but the last three orders I've placed with them have been superb. The food has been rich, fresh, and full of flavour but completely absent of excessive oil/ghee - tastes better and I'm sure it's healthier too!

Unfortunately there was an item missing from order and several containers had leaked.

Missing some items.. I got a refund the prawn dish o ordered the prawns where burnt and black .. hardly any meat in the other dishes mainly sauce.. nann bread was cold

We have been regualrs here for a number of years, have raved about the food and service. Had Sunday buffet a few weeks ago and it was all cold, very disappointing. Decided to give it another go, planned our day with friends, shopping, a few drinks and Sunday buffet. Arrived at 1535, doors locked and owner said they had shut due to being quiet. Not good enough. Lost our custom, Nef Istanbul next door amazing food and service!

I’m afraid I cannot rate the food as we are still waiting for it. Ordered at 18:31 with an eta of 35-50 minutes. Now it’s 20:35 and no order still. Called the restaurant at 20:15 and were advised the driver was in our (very small) village… still nothing… avoid like the plague…

I'd avoid this place. I will not be ordering from here again. The curry's all taste the same, and they are not even nice! There is about half a breast of chicken in each dish, which is outrageous for the price, and the samosas tasted like they were made with meat paste, not real mince. I'm absolutely disgusted with how bad the food is now, which is such a shame as we used to love the food here.

I’ve been ordering from this place for a while and I usually have no complaints, although they occasionally leave stuff out of my order, the food is tasty, but this is the last time I’ll be ordering from them. My order took over 2 HOURS to arrive! Ordered just after 8pm, showed up at almost 10:30pm, and by the time it did arrive some of what I ordered was lukewarm at best, while other parts of my meal were just cold. Requested to be compensated, was declined and told that they put something extra in there to make up for it… no you didn’t! I almost just gave up and went to raid whatever I had left in my house for food as I got fed up of waiting only for it to show up just at that time. The reviews (especially on tripadvisor) speak for themselves, who’s running this place?

Delivery was over an hour later than the estimated time. When I called to ask at around 15 mins after the estimated time I was told that they didn’t know how long it would be. After pressing them, they said it would be 15 mins which was obviously just made up to get me off the phone. Ordered at 7:40, Just Eat’s ETA 8:30, arrived around 9:40. So disappointed as it was such lovely food! But if it took 2 hours on a Monday evening, I dread to think what a weekend would be like! Also, my curry had spilt in the bag, so everything was covered in oily curry so we had to clean everything off before we could even eat.

Great food, delivery much later than expected

Over 3 hours for a delivery for it to turn up and everything be cold, I’m all for a late delivery but not when being told after an hour and a half my food will be with me in 2 minutes, and then everytime being told 5 mins. Then for the delivery driver to turn up be point blank rude, what make it worse as even though the food was stone cold the containers were split and there was food everywhere. I order from you guys a lot and this has got to be the worse experience I’ve ever received. So disappointed

The order arrived more than an hour late. The delivery left shortly after the latest estimated time (after 20.25) but we waited another hour and more for it to arrive. When it did, it was no longer very hot. On the phone Malikas said they would refund the meal and to convey this to Just Ear for the refund to be processed. We would be grateful if you could help with this.

Very disappointed with the food - the dishes didn't taste anything like the dishes usually do here, or anywhere else. All the dishes felt like they were in the same sweet tomato pasta sauce? (Even if they weren't tomato based).

We ordered our food at 6pm and didn't get it till 8.20pm was told sorry its late we are busy to then open our food for the chips to be stone cold and the curry was cold too and i ordered mango chutney and got a spicy dip plus the rice was cold too and the cheese naan was so cold it had gone rock hard so we was unable to eat it ... we paid money to waste it 😡😡😡

Horrible food waiting for refund from just eat

Please refund the money. It was delivered more than 2 hours late. The delivery driver was absolutely clueless and the food arrived cold. I will never order from this restaurant, terrible service

Terrible service. Order the food at 21:00 is 2230 and I still waiting. I rang and all I ve got is " it's on its way" and put the phone down. Bad experience, I will never orderer again from this restaurant. I don't even know where the order is, and as paid already I cannot cancel!

Despite calling restaurant to ensure delivery instructions followed driver parked dangerously on main road and entered business below flat rather than call from car park. I had been waiting on car park for food for over 30 mins by this point. Mixed starter was terribly overcooked and dry beyond anything the watery sauce could fix. All good was tepid at best. Regret ordering and would advise anyone against this restaurant.

After not having Malikas for couple of years I am completely disappointed with what has happened to the food quality. It has no taste, no salt, special rice is a mash. Frankly, it only deserves two stars. :(

Late and cold on arrival.. Not impressed.

Due to it arriving over 2 hours after ordering it the food was cold. However once heated it was nice. Not impressed about the timing whatsoever. And the woman on the phone wasn’t much help in locating the food.

Food was 1 hour 10 mins late. Called the restaurant 3 times, was told it was 2 mins away twice and then multiple deliveries then stuck in traffic. Restaurant is 4 miles from me. Think they forgot my order as some food was still warm but others were cold. Prawn dish hardly had any prawns just onions and tomatoes. Very unsatisfactory.

Main curry's (Madras and Masala) was ok, unfortunately the Sag aloo lacked flavour and if you did get any it tasted of vinegar and the Mushroom bhaji was extremely watery (covered half the plate) Adding to this it was over 45 minutes late and when I asked for a text update I didn't even receive one. Doubt we will order from her again.

Great food, but arrived 75mins after ordering: 30 mins after justEat said it had left, and 20 mins & after the restaurant said it had left (we are 15 mins walk from the restaurant). So I’d order again, but only if I was prepared to wait &/or chase it up

We booked a table for 7 for an 88th family birthday celebration. Service was appalling - we waited an hour for our starters to arrive and waited again for the main course. They knew it was a special meal as we sang Happy Birthday before we ordered. The wait was so long that the main guest had to be taken home before the main meal arrived. I expressed our disappointment at the end of the meal and asked if it was always like this. I was told it was because they were very busy with deliveries of takeaway meals and they had little to say when I said, "So you prioritise takeaways over diners sitting in the restaurant." PLEASE NOTE : the access to the toilets is very narrow, being partially blocked by furniture and, when you open the door to the Disabled toilet, it is used as a store room and is literally stacked to the ceiling with equipment, so is completely inaccessible. Please see attached photo. My daughter, who works with young people with severe disabilities was extremely annoyed about this, particularly as there was nothing at the front of the restaurant to say the toilet was inaccessible or even out of order. One of our party had a rollator but we were still not told at the start of the meal that there was no Disabled toilet.

Took two hours and 15 mins to arrive. An hour and 10 mins late. Food was cold and had to be heated in the microwave…..

Food was completely tasteless. Mixed grill was questionable - 2 bits of chicken, 2 chewy lamb pieces and an onion bhaji covered in grease and onions... First time I’ve left a review saying the food literally tasted of nothing - no flavour to it whatsoever.
