Lovely tea and coffee, however, stupid layout and unhelpful staff. Queued where it said queue here, and after ordering went to sit down at a table by the counter, then aggressive lady came up and said you can't sit there if you ordered from that counter as that's takeaway only, and the tables belong to the cafe in the next room, asked for upgrade/ to pay the difference so we could sit down, she said they're completely different businesses so that's not possible, but it's really not clear at all as the tables are all in the room next to the big counter which doesn't say takeaway only. She said she doesn't make the rules and she's always telling the staff to ask if it's for takeaway or eat in.... Not good, rubbish start to the day. Sort it out guys!

Not a massive fan of pasty’s, but OMG these are amazing!!! I didn’t want it to end! Would highly recommend! The staff are very friendly & welcoming as well! A*

Got lost and came across this the service and food excellent. Two danish and two coffees about 12 pound not to bad. Well done keep it up

We went for breakfast, on arrival was greeted by lady who showed us to our table. A young girl came over and took our order. She was very confident and helpful. The young girl was working the cafe on her own. Polite and good service

Went to the cafe,seemed nice to start but the staff in there were very uninviting and no eye contact or smiles at all.i was seated and ordered decaf mocha and a toasted teacake I expressed I get very ill if I have caffeine in drink so politely asked could she please make sure its decaf there was no reply,on the coffee arrival I politely asked if they were decaf she looked at the coffee and said yes then followed a disintegrated tea cake that snapped in half when I buttered it. I took we sips of my coffee and new instantly it wasn't decaf. After 30 minutes of leaving I became ill and had to come home.Other places I've been to have been so understanding of my situation and always reasure me but I should've realised that on the none acknowledgement on me asking that there was always the doubt of it not being decaf...very poor customer service in the cafe such a disappointing visit 😒

After a whistle stop visit to Cornwall curtailed by family events we stopped in Bodmin for a Cornish Pasty - can recommend the bakery. The eating area is through the bakery and up some steps - some historic features still on view. Sadly sold out of steak and stilton pasties so they must be good! Had a large steak pasty which was wonderful. Just what was needed for the long journey home. Stopped to buy some more pasties to takd home for the boys and some saffron cake.

Have been going hear for years - mostly just buy stuff from the bakery but today we sat down and had lunch. The young man who served us was really lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Food was good.

Lovely pasties, prompt service, girl serving seemed to be a little flustered, but that could be because the queue behind us….

Went for something to eat to kill time whilst car being serviced. Had a good breakfast, coffee and was able to sit and relax afterwards. There was no pressure to leave. Free wifi is there so could do some work, had another coffee and eventually left. It was a day when the weather was torrential so glad of some shelter. Staff were pleasant, prices very reasonable with differing choices on their menu. No rush to push you out of the door at any point and was there for closing on 2hrs. Have been before with family and now alone - same both times. Happy to recommend and happy to go back again and again.

Good food,very clean ,nothing was too much trouble for Nicky our waitress, lovely to be greeted be by such friendly staff.

Was the worst breakfast ever. Being in the hospitality trade, I would have expected better... coffee was bitter, and tea was awful. I had a tea cake tbh was like eating cardboard and butter was rock hard.. Barnecutts you need to do better! We won't be back any time soon!

My partner had the toasted teacake and said it wasn't the best also the butter portions were not soft enough to spread properly, they just ripped apart the tea cake. I ordered the full English breakfast minus the tomatoes. Normally if a customer asked if they could leave off an item in the breakfast they are normally asked if they would like an additional item instead and not have to pay any extra ( like i was). Mushrooms very dry, sausages tiny, baked beans i think were microwaved as they were very hot and the rest lukewarm.

Excellent value for money and traditional Cornish pasties and cakes, it takes me back to the 70’s😀 This place can get busy during lunchtime so if you’re intending to buy food to take away then I’d suggest getting here before noon to ensure you miss the rush and to also ensure that you get the pick of the cakes.

Plates cold and beans cold and returned to kitchen. Breakfast finished and server had to be sought before beans returned. £1 refund given. However beans still cold

So little meat in steak pasty should be called a vegetable pasty but tasty. As for the vegetable pasty served stone cold and full of ???. I'm not cornish but that is not Traditional vegetable pasty.

On way home, looking for a pasty for the journey and a coffee. Picked this as it was a rated pasty in a local paper. The counter display looked amazing … and after our breaks fast had been selling lots. Breakfast and coffee arrived quickly with great service. Two pastys in the bag and heading north. Barnecutts pastys are one of the best ive tasted I do love their steak and stilton pastys. it is always very clean and tidy.

Dropped car in Bodmin for some work. Popped Barnicoates for breakfast. Excellent , food good, coffee hot. Service was superb and got to watch Olympics on tv. They also do great pasties and filled rolls and specials. Very busy as workmen stop by for food but would defo recommend. Also prices very reasonable

Called in on the way home bacon baps and coffee in the cafe were fab, ordered couple of large steak pasties and frozen ones for the freezer. Out of all the pasties in Cornwall we have tried these are the best. Nice pastry plenty of meat and filling you can recognise. Highly recommend these.

While on holiday in newquay had a steak pasty & in padstow a vegetable and without doubt the best I have ever had ,made a point of getting 3 medium of each to take home next day to lincoln, SUPERB.😁

A cornish friend kept telling us to call in here and sample the pasties so we bought 3 large ones to bring home very big. We had a drink and a bacon roll in the cafe very friendly staff .

We called to collect frozen pasties which we ordered the night before. We cook them at home. We enjoyed our pasties in the restaurant. The service was friendly and restaurant clean. It is a busy place so it is a little noisy.

Yes food good . The queuing system or not is crazy . You pay more to eat in but yet you have to que again if you want a coffee . No no no. We pay you come to the table and it works .......

Met with friends for Coffee and snack lunch. We all selected the Pannini - two of us had Bacon Brie and Cranberry and two had Ham and Cheese. They were excellent - freshly cooked and so so tasty. We had Coffees and selected from the wide range of cakes which were all enjoyed.

Popped in Friday morning. Friendly staff, good selection of pastries, pasty’s and a good deli section with pasta & salads. I went for a egg & bacon pie slice which was really tasty. Also got a coffee walnut slice with a jam doughnut, both good.

Me and my husband went to the Barnecutt pastry shop ad lovely pastry and cream cakes,going back to get some for our Journey home,the staff were great,if your in Bodmin any time it’s a must place to visit.

If you like pasties and you like cakes then this is the place for you. These pasties are, in my humble opinion, one of the best you can get in Cornwall.

We wanted to have a party at home for 50 people and were very impressed by the service of Barnecutts. They provided an excellent menu, allowing for all dietary needs.

When people knock TA they forget you would never find places like this. On the edge of an industrial estate. This new clean purpose built bakery restaurant is splendid. Greeted by really friendly staff,well priced food and locally sourced products. We will be back again (regularly ).

Visit here frequently. Breakfast first class. Pasties excellent, coffee good . Great service with staff who get to know you. Nice modern cafe environment with parking.

We have been here 3 times in the last year and sadly it’s getting worse every time.The prawn roll had very little signs of prawns and we had to butter our own rolls. The pizza slices used to taste great but now very tasteless. The cranberry, bacon and cheese panini was very poor so my wife left it.

What a shame the price hike doesn’t reflect the food or service. Panini’s seemed to have been reduced dramatically and the service is very disorganised and slow.

Would you be in the area then fine for a quick meal. Not one I would rush to go to again. I think there are better places in Bodmin

Piping hot, straight from the oven Cornish Pasties. Took them home to eat these delicous pasties. There is also a cafe if you wish to dine in and there is a variety of food to choose from, savoury and sweet.

There is not much that I can say that I haven't said already. We have never been disappointed eating here and it has become something of a ritual that we have a pasty from here every time that we visit Bodmin.

Took a break from a30 with lunch in this lovely cafe behind a very popular bakery. Super fish and chips.

This is a bakery with salads, pasties, sandwiches, desserts and pasties. It is very clean, fresh, bright with a lovely view. There are tables to sit inside and tables outside. The pasties at this venue seem to taste even better than at the little bakery shops. We tend to make a special trip to get them from this location.

AMAZING pasties along with other fresh foods such as salads, cakes & pastries. They also sell the most gorgeous saffron cake and other goodies. We never get our pasties from anywhere else, you simply can't beat Malcolm Barnecutt bakery!

This is a newish restaurant although they have been selling pasties here for a long time.

As a previous reviewer has said pasties are as good as any locally, this from a Cornish man is praise, and their bread is certainly the best in the area. Service in the cafe is good but can be slower at times as it services an industrial area and quite understandable be very busy at times. The coffee and cakes are all good.

On our monthly trip to Bodmin we visited the Malcolm Barnecutt Bakery. For the past three months I have been going past and did not get the chance to see how this Bakery was.
