The worst teacake I have ever had. Came here with husband as we needed a pitstop. Sat in a booth, the seats and table were soaking wet, nice and clean but wet! Husband's rocky road and canned drink were fine. My toasted teacake hadn't seen much of a toaster so I took it back. It returned nicely browned. I ate one half which was delicious but the other half just fell apart in flakes and was stale and crunchy, I suspect it was toasted from frozen. I took the remaining half back to the counter and explained what was wrong with it , chap behind the counter didnt want to know, no apology. Coffee was awful really bitter. Awful experience.

Called in here for some brunch after a morning of walking around the town. We were surprised at how big the cafe to the back of the bakery was! We thought the menu selection was limited for the size of the place but the quality of what we received was fabulous and arrived within minutes as well! My poached eggs were slightly undercooked (raw egg white still visible). Just be aware sauce cost extra!

So disappointing. I had the worst bacon, brie and cranberry panini i've ever had here. The "panini" just a seeded roll. The bacon was undercooked 1 cm squares of bacon sprinkled inside and no cranberry? when i asked where the cranberry was i was told that the rolls came in already done? The unhappy women behind the counter eventually managed to find me some cranberry sauce but the roll was cold by then. The roll was tasteless and soggy My friend ordered double egg and chips which arrived 10 minutes after my panini and consisted of lukewarm chips, one hard egg and one undercooked egg. The building is lovely but the surly counter staff and badly cooked food means that we won't be back.

This branch of family company and Bodmin based bakers Malcolm Barnecutt just so happens to be the former Bodmin Guildhall, which they purchased in the mid eighties after the Bodmin town council moved out. The bakers have kept the building's original features, with the former council chamber being turned into a coffee lounge extension of their colourful café. After hearing opinions on possibly being the best pasties in Cornwall, I popped in on a Monday afternoon for lunch after visiting Bodmin Jail with two colleagues. Two of us had a Cornish pasty each whilst the other had a pepperoni pizza slice. We both ordered a side of loaded chips, which surprised both of us, because they looked and tasted like chips that you would find in a reputable chip shop. We all enjoyed our portions. After immediately walking into the bakery, I was struck by Barnecutt's wide range of pasty variations, including a traditional steak and two "curry" variations. I decided to try a cheese and bean pasty which was nice and very well filled, with very tasty pastry and a well presented crimp, but was not quite warm enough, and then purchased a traditional steak and beef curry pasty to consume at a later date. We then all had a slice of their exceptional heavy cake, another Cornish delicacy. A very nice lunch from the "Greggs of Cornwall"(although other local chains Rowe's and Warren's might have something to say about that). Malcolm Barnecutt is a "craft bakery" which do not rush their pasty making, and still do so by hand and then freshly baked every morning in their shops,They (like so many others) call themselves "the quality baker", I certainly agree with their motto. In fact they have been baking for over ninety years. Our waitress was very friendly and served us faultlessly. We will be looking into ordering from their pasties by post service when their website is back online. Very well done Barnecutt's!

Popped in here for lunch, as you walk through the takeaway bakery at the front there is a cafe at the back. A good size and the seats are spaced out. There were plenty of things to choose from on the menu. I ordered the ham, cheese and red onion panini and my partner ordered the breakfast panini. They were of a good size and both were delicious! If I could have fit another one in, I would have ordered another. The staff were friendly and the place was clean. We enjoyed our paninis and cakes here so much that on our last day in Cornwall we drove back to eat here one more time.. unfortunately it was closed as it was Easter Monday. When we are back in Cornwall again, we will definitely be visiting for another lunch.

Been here on a couple of occasions during my visit to Bodmin recently. The sit-in cafe has also gone through a refurbishment. I had a breakfast roll and I have to say was very generously filled with decent quality ingredients too, I had a bacon bab and it was well done as requested and didn't taste overly greasy or salty. On another occasion to this cafe I tried a selection of pastries and sweet goods. This place does both short crust and puff pastry sausage rolls which is a very uncommon but welcome choice. I selected the short crust and tasted delicious. There is a good selection of pasties too. Had a couple of sweet treats as well. For me this was a little let down. For me for fresh the doughnuts (jam and cream) felt quite dry and a little stale and that was from visiting the shop at 9am! So were they previous day doughnuts or just not great quality in the first pace. Malcolm Barnecutt is quite expensive compared to what I'm used to from the midlands where really Greggs is the only "bakery", however with the exception of the doughnuts from my experience is a very good quality offering. If you are in Bodmin please check this place out!

Popped in for lunch with my wife. I had a bacon and Brie panini, the Brie was very thin and there wasn’t a lot of Bacon. My wife had a baked potato with tuna mayo and a rather sad little salad. The potato was poorly cooked and was so hard that she left about a third of it and she had to add a couple of sachets of mayonnaise to moisten the tuna. This used to be my favourite restaurant in Bodmin but no longer. The only good thing was that the staff were cheerful and polite.

I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately will not be returning. It was disappointing to have ‘lost’ the appeal as the table service has gone. But not as disappointing as the food (baked potato was ordered) but what arrived had been microwaved and was hard and dry. With the few decent places to eat in the Town you would think they would create and deliver a better quality service, as there is little competition. Next time I’ll go to Wadebridge to do my shopping and hopefully a better lunch.

Malcolm Barnecutt is one of the best Pasty Companies in the Bodmin area. The pasties (which come in a variety of sizes and flavours) are absolutely lovely, as is all the rest of the food and drinks on offer. My personal favourite is a large traditional steak pasty, which I highly recommend. The food is to take out or to eat in, since there is a cafe and restaurant area beyond the initial bakery. Very lovely- highly recommend it.

We visited Malcolm Barnecutt needing a quick bite to eat and a drink. What a lovely little place. The service was very good and it was clean and tidy. We only had coffee and pasties which were very nice. I would visit again.

From the moment we entered the dining area we were spoken to and made welcome. The place was very busy and buzzing. We plumped for a special, roast pork, apple sauce and all the trimmings and cherry pie and clotted cream. £5.95, the meal was plentiful, hot and delicious! The waitresses were lovely and could not do enough for us. What a fantastic experience. Wonderful....

Met zijn vieren koffie gaan drinken met wat lekkers erbij. De cappuccino is matig en de bediening kan een stuk beter. De chocolade brownie met custard, tonijn sandwich en cream tea zijn echter wel goed.

Decided to go for lunch and visit one of our regular places. Have eaten here many times in the past as they have a good choice of meals plus a specials board. Very competitively priced. The only slight problem this time was that the chips were very pale and could have done with another few minutes cooking time but they were ok and it's bound to happen occasionally. Will definitely be back soon. Staff are very hardworking and friendly and offer a very good service.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
