Major Toms Social in Harrogate

Visiting Harrogate for the day and having a chill Sunday evening and just ate the nicest tastiest pizza I’ve ever had (vegan one with butternut squash and pine nuts- heaven!). Also special mention to the fresh hot dough balls served with a separate pile of garlic butter so use as little or as much as you like (of course ours had a butter bath!!) Great choice of drinks and really great value overall. Do yourself a massive favour and go here if you’re in town. Absolutely 5 stars from us!

If you’re anywhere near Harrogate and even remotely a fan of good pizza, you owe it to yourself to visit Major Tom’s Social. Tucked away upstairs, this place has a cosy, laid-back vibe that instantly makes you feel welcome – but it’s the pizzas that truly steal the show. Every pizza that comes out of their kitchen is a masterpiece. The bases are perfectly thin with just the right amount of chew, crisped to golden perfection around the edges. The toppings are seriously generous, bursting with flavour, and you can tell everything is made with top-quality, fresh ingredients. Whether you go classic with a margherita or adventurous with one of their special creations, every bite is an absolute delight. What makes it even better is the atmosphere – a chilled-out, music-loving crowd, brilliant local beers on tap, and that feeling that you’ve stumbled onto one of Harrogate’s best-kept secrets. Major Tom’s doesn’t just serve pizza; it serves up good times, great music, and proper soul food. Simply put, it’s some of the best pizza I’ve had anywhere – and I can’t wait to go back!

I really wanted to visit this bar, despite having limited mobility in my left knee and the bar being up stairs. We got to the venue, a sign was out at the bottom of the stairs adverting the bar was open for pizza and drinks so.i struggled up the mountain of steps eager for the experience? However, when we eventually reached the top there was a tiny notice on the door to the bar stating ‘kitchen closed’. I was so annoyed I didn't even go in for a drink. My leg hurt for two days afterwards all for nothing!!! Put your notice at the bottom of the stairs if your kitchen is closed!!!!!

Lovely pub with live music and a great selection of ciders and beers in a quirky location. The band here were fantastic

Unfortunately I am having to give this only 1 star for food and service. We called there on a Sunday and while my partner ordered our drinks at the bar I took a menu for food from the bar in full view of the bar staff. Then when we went up to order food only 5 mins later we were told there was no food as the chef had called in sick. Which is fair enough but why were the menus still on the bar? Also to add insult to injury food still kept coming out for a good 20 mins after we had tried to order our Pizza.... Had we known there was no food there is, no way we would have got a drink as we were very hungry, so in the end I left half my drink so we could go find food elsewhere.

Dropped in with a family if 4 after a birthday walk around Valley Gardens - about 2pm - Outstanding Pizzas - all served together hot and delicious - Kids loved it, great friendly staff and lots of games to keep the kids occupied. - My first visit but we will be back.

Never too loud, always high-quality beers available, good seats, friendly staff. Not the cheapest place for beers, but if you're after cheap and nasty, go to spoons

Called in for a beer whilst we had a few hours to kill in Harrogate. Nice ambiance and decent beer.

Lovely staff and a top atmosphere, a wide selection of beer as well as German and Belgian beers in the fridge. The pizza is great too, reasonably priced for a craft beer bar.

We always love coming here, plenty of space and a great atmosphere. Myself and a couple of friends get together for some great food and lovely service. We really enjoy the games to play and we sometimes bring our own art supplies to have little craft nights here too.

Great food however took 50 mins to get food, although admittedly it was a Saturday night. Really really nice staff

Salad was OK just lacking a bit onthe butternut squash and bits, more leaves and dressing . Place was a bit cold as not very full. Pizzas looked good. Staff were great 👍. Would go back have the pizza and dress a bit warmer . 3/4 stars

Really cool place, lots of beers, pizzas, board games. Kept our big family entertained for a couple of hours. Only downfall it was v chilly in there. Pizzas and butternut salad was really good. Anchovy pizza was the best! Goats cheese/pepper was nice but v sweet. Aubergine one was quite bland

This is a very comfortable and cool bar, light and airy, plenty of space, with some interesting pop-themed decor. Excellent choice of beers and what looked to be great fresh pizza. They even sell their own t-shirts! Recommended as a change from the Wetherspoons across the street (good though that is) - give this positive-vibed local bar a try!

Came here for food. The pizza here is so good. Wonderful service and super friendly and helpful staff. They have a great selection of boardgames available to play as well. Great place, would highly recommend.

Stopped in en route from Scotland to the south. Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, excellent choice of beers and delicious pizza. Also dog friendly. Wish we lived closer!

Pizza and chips perfect. Nice place to have a social drink and some food! Seem to lack stock, empty bottles (sailor jerrys, gins etc) on back bar, go to order to find out none left. No gas for Guinness either second night.

Run by children. Waited 30 minutes for a pizza when I asked where it was was told they hadn’t started cooking it yet, despite the fact there were 10 people in the bar. Asked for a refund and was told that I’d have to wait another 20 minutes for the manager. Would avoid if you’re in a hurry

Got charged £10.50 for a pint of very ordinary Deya IPA. There is absolutely no reason to charge this amount of money for a pint. The pizza was fine. There is no reason to charge extra for chilli oil.

Great atmosphere, great staff and they allow dogs. They have gluten free beer on tap, which is great. However, they don’t do gluten free food, the previous reviews are incorrect. The menu says “if you want a gluten free pizza ask us”, I did and they said the gluten free pizza is prepared on a flour surface and placed on the same cooking surface as the regular pizzas. They do fries, but they are cooked in the same oil as the dough balls, so aren’t gluten free. So major toms isn’t a place you can eat if you are gluten free (coeliac), but if you are just gluten reduced, you could possibly be fine. So this is a great bar to come to for drinks or food, if you have no gluten free friends. If you are gluten free, remember to eat first or you will be hungry or sick.

This was a recommendation from one of the cool shops in Harrogate and it hasn't disappointed. The food was quick and hot and the atmosphere brill!!

Ended up coming here during a party and had a great time! The beers were nice, the vibe was excellent, and the food was good. We didn’t get pizza but I wish we had, they looked delish

We visited here in half term and took our dog and 9 year old grandson. All were welcome. This place is very relaxed and an easy atmosphere. The food is great. There are games to play as well. An enjoyable visit. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Great short visit last week - very much enjoyed beers (especially the raspberry and chocolate stout) on offer. Service was excellent - very friendly. Food was available but didn't try on this occasion. Loved the decor and would imagine a buzz later as we visited early on a Thursday teatime. Would deffo recommend a visit.

This quaint upstairs real ale drinking emporium was visited by me during the Covid times on the 21 st October 2020 so all usual beers were up in the air Fine beers fine surroundings and good staff on the day I was here Saturday 24rd March 2024 tonight we again came to this pub Things here have changed for the better in so many ways since our last visit, and The beers on on real ale were superb this pub is a great place to drink great real ales tonight Saturday 23 March 2024 Tonight, we again visited one of Harrogates' best real ale pubs This pub served tonight a great range of great range of locally brewed real ales this pub is still a 1 roomed great Harrogate pub which to my mind is an essential visit for real ale drinkers to come to when in Harrogate

I had to edit this review as we popped back in for another visit! This time we had a couple of cocktails and bought pizza! The margaritas were great, but the pizza was amazing. Booked a table for eight people on Saturday. The restaurant confirmed the booking two days in advance. I got a call ten minutes before we were due to arrive to tell us that the restaurant had run out of pizza dough and could not make any in time to serve before the kitchen closed. Hard to understand how a restaurant that knows well in advance how many diners it is going to have can run out of something as basic as pizza dough, but I guess these things happen. What was utterly unforgivable was notifying me so late that it was impossible to get in anywhere else. The restaurant has a great vibe and the food is excellent, but this kind of treatment is pretty poor.

Such a great place! The staff were so friendly. We had a great time here winding down after Thoughtbubble comic art festival.

Really cool place, friendly staff, nice choice of beers and decent pizza. Only disappointment is that we went as a family to play some games but pretty much all the games are incomplete, no instructions and not looked after so we couldn't really play many.

We visited for a pint after a days shopping in Harrogate and ended up staying for a few more drinks and pizza. The atmosphere was amazing, reminded me of when I was a student many years ago, brilliant music and laid back vibe. Absolutely made our stay in Harrogate, we will definitely be back !
