Visit on a regular basis with my ‘charge’ the gentleman owner never smiles or converses which I find extremely strange in a public facing position!! Even though we go fairly often there’s no recognition! If it wasn’t for my ‘charge’ I wouldn’t go again. Whilst the coffee is at best pleasant it’s very overpriced.

Never ever will I return here. Watching two grown adults arguing in front of customers. Bullying his wife. Nasty old man who owns it. Unfriendly and bullying the young girls who work after school. Yelling at kids. Overcharging old people who don't want to walk far from the bus stop.

Magnolia cafe exmouth. Went into here today with my nan my one year old and my two year old. My one year old was having a tantrum, my two year old was sat watching her tablet quietly. My nan went up and ordered coffees and food, I took my one year old outside to try and calm her down came back in and she was still crying. The man which I think was the owner told us to leave. I refused and said baby’s cry, he could see I was trying to calm her down. When we refused to leave he threatened to call the police. He didn’t even have the decency to come over to me and ask me to leave. He stood behind the counter and said it so everyone in there could hear. Humiliating. This lovely couple in their sat with my one year old so we could drink our coffees and eat our food. The world needs more people like you guys in it! Wouldn’t recommend going here if you have young children. Baby’s cry and have tantrums. I suggest you put a sign on your door saying no children allowed. Absolutely fuming. This man bullies people I’ve had loads of private messages on Facebook of the same experiences.

Having eaten at this well priced, clean and friendly restaurant many times, I was disappointed by todays lunch. My wife had quiche and salad and was pleased with it, however,I chose spicy beef chilli with rice, sour cream and focaccia. Portion size was ok but not the content. Beef chilli is usually made from predominantly beef and kidney beans. Mine was predominantly bell pepper and sauce, with 5 or 6 kidney beans and only enough beef to fill one fork. Flavour was not strong chilli and left little aftertaste, certainly no chilli heat. The rice, sour cream and focaccia were as you might expect. I have experienced this type of catering elsewhere, minimal main ingredients, made on a budget to maximise profit instead of customer satisfaction. As with the other places I will not be returning.

I popped in here recently when I was staying in the area. I chose this cafe as looking through the window it looked my sort of place. And I was right. Most of the customers, but by no means all, were mature and so I guessed, like me, would have no mobile phone or any apps, hence in this day and age would not be turned away for being unable to zap any apps. They were more than willing for customers to fill in their details via pen and paper, and also offered payment by credit card, or importantly for those without - cash.Despite it being lunchtime I only ordered a pot of tea (due to large breakfast in hotel) and they were quite happy for me to seat and drink my tea; I was not hurried in any way. The pot of tea also came with a pot of hot water, so good value as well. The place was quite busy with people ordering food and many appeared to be repeat customers, which is a recommendation in itself.I used the toilets at the back of the place, which although small, were clean. After each person left the cafe I noticed the staff cleaning down the tables and chairs ready for the next person.I would recommend this place to anyone who is finding it hard in these difficult times if they need to pay in cash or do not have a mobile phone etc.

Owners extremely rude and clearly bully staff which then in turn affects customers and atmosphere. A real shame as it has big potential. If staff were treated better this would domino effect the business in a positive way. A shame the owners haven’t realised this over the last many years. When will the owners realise they are damaging their staffs mental well-being?

Lovely food cakes and drinks, but do not advise anyone eating outside because of out of control abusive yobs that abuse customers using the back space. Maybe the cafe could replace the insecure gate with a high solid one that people cannot see through and put a canopy over the tables nearest the outside wall in case the yobs throw stuff over. Great shame

I absolutely LOVE the Mediterranean Vegetable Quiche from the Magnolia Cafe! It comes with a generous portion of creamy coleslaw and a delicious mixed leaf salad- finally, a place in Exmouth that says NO to a watery mountain of iceberg lettuce! And it’s soooo affordable! My friends and I often come here for brunch as their cooked breakfasts are cheap and aren’t dripping in stomach pain inducing oil! I wasn’t keen on their fresh orange juice, but their coffee is smooth and it always pleases me to see a cafe serving Twining’s Tea!I’m still yet to try their cakes and also dine outside in their courtyard- I didn’t even know it existed until I saw the pictures on here!I The Magnolia Cafe!

Food is always great and the cake selection is to die for (and they give you a door stop)! Friendly staff and always busy. Would highly recommend. If you are paying for an item full price you should get proper portion not half on top, you pay for the extras separately. Noticed on a breakfast that again if you order say mushrooms some appeared to be re-cooked and some fresh. We can tell you know. Cheese is bland like rubber. Disappointed not in rush to revisit. Extremely grumpy and rude staff. The coffee is disgusting and the prices are shocking, the quality of the food does not justify the price by far!!!! Small portions which in some ways was a release as the food was not enjoyable at all. The customer bathroom is extremely small and run down and in need of a deep clean! Is also not suitable for Disabled Persons!!! Also no changing facilities. The restaurant is extremely small not suitable for pushchairs for wheelchairs. I visited the Magnolia cafe today for lunch and as soon as I walked through the door I could see how popular it was due to the amount of customers. Despite this however there were quite a few tables available.I ordered a pot of tea and a jacket potato with chilli and when it arrived I was surprised to find that the chilli was obviously homemade (so often it appears to have come straight out of a can) and as a result it was delicious, with just the right amount of heat for my taste. The potato too was perfectly cooked with a really tasty crispy skin and soft fluffy inside. The cafe was spotlessly clean, bright, and with very friendly and helpful staff. The prices too were very reasonable.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Magnolia cafe to anyone looking for a really tasty homemade meal at a good price, I'll definitely be back!

Very basic restaurant but food is good and portions are generous. They do meals in small, medium and large so it suits all appetites. I went with a friend and we had roast turkey. We both had small portions which gave us plenty of turkey a couple of roast potatoes and carrots, brussels, cabbage, peas and sweet potato as veg. Good value just a shame the restaurant is not better set out. Toilet is upstairs which is difficult for people with mobility problems. Staff were friendly and helpful. Worth a visit.

After not having a pleasant experience with the book rest and didn't like the feel of the place we decided to not eat here; so we decided to try the café next door which was The Magnolia café instead. Outside it looked a bit transport café but it looks better when you're sat inside. There's plenty of space for buggys and pushchairs. It's child friendly. There was plenty of choice for vegetarians. we had a lovely cheese quiche and salad with chips and cheesy chips on the side which was delicious! we had a vegetarian all day breakfast which was apparently well presented and very nice. The cakes looked good but in my opinion were a bit dry the best one was probably the Victoria sponge. The chocolate muffin was a lot nicer than the tiffin slice, or any of the sponge cakes we tried. the yogurt bite was ok but preferred the caramel shortbread. The little one is mad about tomato sauce especially when eating chips and we would prefer it in big bottles because the tomato sauce sachets were harder to open even without having greasy hands from eating chips. It didn't taste as nice you can't beat Heinz tomato ketchup! All in all would come here again but maybe take our own tomato sauce to prevent this from being an issue and try one of their ice cream sundaes or have the chocolate muffin instead!

Ryan[Manager] has walked out and the store is now back to its woeful ways. They have now lost my custom and i believe many other locals feel the same way. Clearly the higher management do not care about this store and they shouls close it with immediate effect. To blame staffing issues in not fair,as most other cafe`s do not have staffing issues

Decided to visit the Combe Garden Centre, overdue really as we are quite local. Went into the Kitchen at Combe for lunch. We had to wait behind the rope to be seated. I can understand this is busy times, but it was quiet and being seated involved the member of staff giving us a menu and help yourself to a seat. All well and good, but waiting what seemed a very long time behind the rope without even a menu to peruse was just plain daft and annoying. My wife wanted the jacket potato, but it clearly said on the menu this wasn’t available on a Sunday. We spotted a jacket spud being served and after an enquiry we were told we can ignore the menu in that respect. Whilst waiting at our table, we felt sorry for people coming in that wanted a seat with a brolly for shade, the only two tables suitable had ‘reserved for large parties’ on them. These tables held about 6-7 people and remained unused all the time we were there. Seemed ridiculous. Anyway, the positives, the food was promptly served and the quality good and the surroundings were very pleasant and a delight to sit in. Will we come back? Unlikely I feel, it could be so much better but needs better organisation and removal of petty rules.

Car broke down on the Axminster bypass: when fixed I had lost the will to drive another 4 hours so checked into the George Inn. In the middle of an outrageously good Halloween party, the staff were never the less attentive, sympathetic and checked me in quickly. Recently refurbished, the hotel is really and very well furnished and decorated - super comfortable, super clean, super cozy. It’s a little gem, with parking - great value too!
