Amazing food and a friendly atmosphere. Very good menu and reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back when next in Lyme Regis.

Visited at the weekend passing through going home to Devon. We chose to try it as it had a lovely varied menu (Seeing moussaka on the menu sold it for me) & it was dog friendly. We could sit inside or out, we chose outside just incase our crazy cockapoo who isn't used to going out to eat was unsettled. Although, she was really good ..... thankfully. There were a few families & couples with dogs there already & it had a friendly atmosphere. The prices were reasonable for the cuisine on offer. All in all the staff were friendly, service was really good, food arrived hot without too much of a wait considering it getting fairly busy at lunchtime. It was a fab experience, we'd definitely recommend it & will come back again in the future.

I had some relatives visit me recently and took them to Lyme Regis for an afternoon, which started with lunch at the Royal Standard. This was the first time I had eaten in here, although I have been in for drinks with friends before. The pub offers a good selection of draught ales, beers and ciders, as well as plenty of low/no alcohol options and soft drinks, and an impressive spirit bar. For four of us drinks (1 G+T, 2 pints and a soft drink) cost upwards of £20, so a bit pricey but very good. The pub was quite busy and with it only being bar service it did take a while to order but the bar staff were working quickly and efficiently and were all very friendly. We ordered 2 portions of fish and chips, 1 chicken and pork souvlaki and 1 moussaka, which set me back roughly £75, although that was including a voluntary tip for the staff. The card machine prompting for tips before you've eaten seems a bit strange but seeing as the pub doesn't do tabs it makes sense. (Side note - do tip the staff if you go here, they're all very friendly!) The food came quickly and we all really enjoyed it and were very happy to send four empty plates back to the kitchen. The portions were generous so no dinner was required! We finished our visit with some coffees which took a while but from looking around us it seemed that most of the tables near us all had the same idea. The pub itself is quite cosy and historic, which just added to how much we enjoyed the experience. So overall, a fairly pricey lunch but fantastic service, large portions and nice surroundings made up for it. From what the waiters told me, the menu is the same in the evenings as at lunch time, so given the prices I would be more inclined to come out for dinner here in future rather than lunch.

Super pub food, nice outdoor sitting area. Lovely fish dishes - my husband said the mussels were the best he's ever had. Fast & cheery service, despite the number of customers all wanting dinner at once!

It’s your typical pub serving food, had probably the best beef burger I’ve ever had, it was massive, perfectly cooked, my wife couldn’t finish her chicken burger, which please our dog. Nice friendly staff

If I could have given no stars I would have done . Ordered a drink tasted disgusting like pipe dirty type of taste hubby went to bar greeted by young male who was rude. I went in women took my drink and would not tip in sink bearing in mind told could not have a fresh one . I asked for drink back to dispose myself also rude 😒. Very young staff very rude so many nicer places to drink .

We visited The Royal Standard frequently over our weekend visit to Lyme Regis. The staff were super friendly. The food was to die for! The Greek souvlaki was especially amazing! We can’t wait to come back…

Popped in here for dinner after a busy day touring the coast. Was surprised to see Greek food on the menu and, it being a family favourite we all ordered gyros. The food was piping hot, obviously freshly cooked, with absolutely fantastic chips. The homemade tzatziki was some of the best I've tasted. Very reasonably priced too for good portions. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality meal in Lyme Regis.

A really pleasant surprise and experience. Popped in for dinner with my partner and son expecting potentially below average pub grub at high prices because of the favourable ‘touristy’ location. Instead we were welcomed by very friendly staff and had a lovely home cooked style meal which was very tasty and good portions. Interestingly, I only looked at the reviews as I was about to write my own. I’ve only been this once but I am surprised by so many that question the food. I’m guessing it’s because it’s a little more home cooked style than mass produced standard that most are used to. The lamb moussaka was very yummy (and obvious that it was home cooked by its ‘real life’ presentation). My partner had the halloumi burger which was massive. The kids fish and chips looked fresh and again, a very decent portion. The simple Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts dessert was also amazing. All served by friendly staff that were keen to make the experience a pleasant one. I’d happily come back again!

Chose to dine here on our first night in Charmouth tonight. So glad we did, the most amazing moussaka and souvlaki ever, it took us back to the Greek islands and its amazing cuisine. Best meal of the week so far on our south coast tour by far.

Greek Filo Parcels were very disappointing and overpriced. Was expecting a few triangle shaped parcels similar size to samosas but was presented with just 2 small finger shaped things, which could be eaten in 1 go! The Halloumi Kebab had more chips in it, very little halloumi. The only positive is the location, overlooking harbour.

Another lovely surprise to find - of all things - menu choices of Greek cuisine served in this cosmopolitan resort under the shade of umbrellas, cleverly tucked away from marauding gulls. Excellent menu backed with some local brewery best-sellers brought us back for several leisurely lunchtime visits. Good value too - highly recommended for this location

The food was very disappointing. Looked liked used old oil and was really not nice to eat. Thought waitress would ask why we all left so much and hardly ate any. Would not recommend food here to anyone.

Wife, Mother in Law and my dog popped in for lunch. Decent enough surroundings and I had Chicken Breast Fillet burger for £18 which was awful. The chicken was tough as old boots and difficult to cut even with the knife and fork provided. I deconstructed the burger and my dog enjoyed half the chicken. The chips were fine though. My other family members were non plussed with a pulled pork starter which they both had at £9 each..we won’t be returning

A truly awful meal. Soggy tasteless fish and chips. Inedible scampi. Tough kebabs. Surely the chef should wonder why so many meals returned uneaten!

Been here before but today was disappointing. Half a pot of tea and no extra hot water. Salad and smoked bacon sandwiches with cold tasteless bacon, hardly any bacon too. Salad leaves not good either. Will not be going back.

What a gem! Slightly off the beaten track of tourism, this is a lovely comfortable pub offering a range of classic pub grub, as well as a selection of authentic Greek dishes, cooked by their Greek chef. Today was unusually mild and sunny for a February day, so we sat out in the courtyard. Dogs were welcome both in and outside. My husband had the beef stifado, a rich beef stew served with rice, and I had the souvlaki - a skewer each of pork and chicken, served with a Greek salad, tsatziki, pitta bread and chips. We could have been in Corfu! It was wonderful. The staff were attentive and efficient. We will definitely be back.

Very nice traditional style pub. We popped in for lunch during a day visit. My friend is elderly and doesn't have a large appetite, so it was great that the children's menu had options for fish & chips and scampi & chips. There was a nice mix of dishes on the menu but as it was a Friday I opted for Fish & chips. Our meals were served quickly and were perfect. The staff were all very helpful & pleasant. I had to ring the following day to check whether we'd left something there and they couldn't have been more helpful.

We popped in here for a lunchtime drink and loved the place and the atmosphere so booked a table for that night for an evening meal. There is plenty of room to sit outside if its dry without the fear of seagulls as there is a net in place to stop them. The inside is very welcoming and the staff were really friendly and super helpful. Even remembering our booking from when it was made at lunchtime. There is a great choice of food but check out the specials board as there are lotsmof greek influenced dishes (see pictures). We all chose something different and not one of us was disappointed. Shout out to the bar staff as they remembered our drinks order each time we went to the bar. We will definitely be back next time we are in Lyme Regis. Great little pub.

Perfect spot right next to the beach with an awning for sun/rain and lots of cosy tables inside all dog friendly.Amazing authentic Greek moussaka-like they make in Greece not the pale English imitation!Partner had a whole fresh Cornish Mackerel cooked on a griddle.Very good choice of drinks.Warm home made orange cake with clotted cream was lovely.Moist and with a lovely bitter and sweet edge to it.Everyone’s sandwiches and mussels looked very good.Someone in the kitchen who not only knows how to cook but has a real desire to made every plate of food special.Cannot rate it highly enough.No idea why this place isn’t rammed.I’d be here regularly if I were a local.

Went here for evening meal while on short break in Lyme Regis. Usual pub-fayre on the menu, but lots of greek-inspired dishes on the specials board (chef is greek) and we tried the mousaka and the souvlaki - best evening meal of our stay. We will most definitely eat here again on our next trip to the area.

We love this pub, the staff are friendly, the food is always good and they ca usually find you a table somewhere, even if you don't book.

Sat outside the bar on a very hot day (under cover) we had a nice meal and a pint of cider. This bar is almost on the beach at Lyme a great setting

My uncle was served a pint in an already used glass that had not been cleaned & had lip stick on it. My meal was missed when the order was taken at the bar, despite it being repeated to the staff member more than once. So when the food arrived my meal was not served up with everyone elses, we asked about my meal & got a bit of backchat from the girl serving us, which was uncalled for and infuriating. I then had to wait for my meal whilst the rest of my family had their food in font of them. Won't be coming back here again!

We had the souvlaki special here. It was better than any we found in our recent holiday to Corfu. At £17 it was reasonable as burger and chips cost about the same in similar places. Great choice of real ales. Pub was very well ran and staff were friendly. Great choice of real ales that were well looked after. Historic pub with interesting information on local history. Popped in to miss a sharp shower. Ended up having lunch and so glad we did as it was tasty, hot and something a bit different. Would recommend to anyone wanting proper tasty food.

We tried the Royal standard as we like the idea of some Greek food and the choice of gluten free options After a quick chat it was clear that the staff knew about looking after Coeliac suffers and that most good could be made safely (separate fryer) I had the gluten free souvlaki and my wife had normal moussaka. Quick service and great food. Would happily recommend and come back again.

Visited here over the weekend for an evening meal. Hard pushed to get a table as was very busy. Worth booking if you want to dine. Ordered food, this took a while as was busy however we were in no rush as was enjoying our drinks. Menu choice was great and lots of specials on the board. I went for the Prawn sanagka and Husband went for the Mussels. Both divine!! Loved the fact there was lots of Greek meals and was very tempted with what I went for or the moussaka. Towards the latter part of the evening lots of local teenagers descended to play pool so think this is the local Drinking pub for them. Downside to this pub - The ladies toilets were absolutely disgusting. Poop on the front of the toilet cistern, toilet paper all over the floor, smearing’s everywhere. The whole toilet stank!!!! This put me off having anymore drinks as did not want to use them again so we went for a longer drink elsewhere.

Lovely position on sea front. Food portions were large and prices reasonable. We had whitebait as a starter(large portion), Had moussaka as main course. We thought the bechamel topping on the dish was rather thick and a bit bland. Other than that a very nice afternoon lunch
