One of my favourites places to visit whenever im in london, its a slice of pure deliciousness!!

I love Maggie Jones. It’s been around forever, as a wonderful place to go for a special lunch or dinner. We recently held my mother’s 80th birthday party there. The staff were so good at taking care of the birthday girl and all us kids. I imagine I will keep coming here for as long as I can.

A truly fabulous find. Great ambience and decor and food. The magnum of wine was the icing on the cake! Celebrated family birthdays last February and hoping to make it an annual treat but SO SO sad it is closed. Please hurry and repair as we are banging on your door! The staff were fab too.

Atmosphere is cozy perfection. It felt chic British inside. Food was the kind you dream about eating again. Good service even with a group of 9.

We were accidentally a day late for our reservation, but the staff was happy to move some tables around to accommodate our party of five! The food was outstanding. We all chose to do the prefix menu, and I had the quiche/tarte, the sausage & gravy, and the apple crumb w/custard. All were excellent. They serve magnums of wine & charge you according to how much of it you drank, which is a brilliant idea! They also do glasses, but for our group the magnum made sense. Service was super friendly. Highly recommend!

Joli restaurant d'inspiration XVIIIeme siècle, la décoration est très bien faite ce qui donne une belle ambiance. Par contre la cuisine est bonne mais vraiment quelconque au regard de l'addition, on est vraiment chez mamie mais au prix d'un restaurant gastronomique. 50£ par personne pour manger des saucisses et de la purée c'est vraiment hors de prix.

On 21 August 2023, I made a dinner reservation for four people for 1900 on 2 September directly with the restaurant (somebody named Danielle) via phone call which was accepted and confirmed. When we arrived, we were astonished to find the restaurant dark and closed with a trench dug in front - though nobody working on it. We were never notified of this closure - nor did the website have any info on that night. (Subsequently the website informs the restaurant will be closed through October.) As I write this, we have still heard nothing and don't expect to. Obviously, an awful experience and their customers don't seem to matter to management. I will NEVER return to this establishment and will certainly tell anyone who asks for a London dinner recommendation to steer clear of Maggie Jones.

Intimate dining experience-superb service

This is always a wonderful familiar and reliably delicious place to eat - the food is always as good as last time & I’ve been coming for over 25 years. This week we had the most charmer server - Thomas - who made our visit even more special

A super cute restaurant where you go more for the atmosphere than the food. It has a strong rustic feel like traveling back in time which is something you don’t expect to find jn busy modern London. The restaurant is also very easy to reach. Food was ok and as others have commented rather pricey for the ingredients and taste. For instance I had tbe two course menu for 34£ where I picked the mushroom soup and the shepherds pie…a bit exaggerated I would say…shepherds pie was more potato than mince beef with no memorable taste and the soup just ok. Our second menu was the leek tart (a bit greasy) and the sausages (the gravy was really good). Soft drinks and bread included we ended up with some 90£. That said, service was very kind, at moments slow, but very British and british humor. I do think that it’s worth trying at least once just for the atmosphere.

This restaurant was recommended to us from a neighbour who had visited this restaurant a few years ago. We were told that it had a French feel and reasonably priced food. When we got there, the place's decor was very rustic but with no French vibe. The lunch menu comprised of mainly English dishes at very high price. Although the food tasted good, we found that it was poor value for money as the dishes would not be costly to cook. For example calf's liver with bacon would contain relatively cheap ingredients but is charged at the exorbitant price of £29 per mains. The wine list was also very pricey. A 12% Service charge is automatically added to the bill but is supposed to be discretional. Very confusing. So I wonder if we were paying for the pleasure of lunching in Kensington area but no luxury.

Oh what a lovely evening it was. We loved our food and the waitress was very funny and friendly. We will be coming back for sure. I really recommend the pork roast and the chocolate pudding. Everything was delicious.

We came in for a Sunday roast. It was excellent! Really cute, homey place with lots of charm. Dog friendly, which is great. The food was unique, tasty, and generous portions. We thought it was one of the best Sunday roasts we've ever had!

We found this restaurant when we searched for something that has a rustic, old feel to it. The ambience is what we came for and food is what kept us wanting to return dinner then later. The food is so delicious and the service is still very friendly. I can't recommend this enough to anyone who hasn't visited yet.

had cheese and leek tart, chicken creamed tarragon and burnt cream. was all very good and satisfying. tom (i think) and all the staff were also all very nice and sweet. the price is higher than other places, but very satisfying and worth it.

Amazing food and great service! We walked in on a Saturday evening in the hope that we might be lucky to get a table later. The staff was so accommodating. They helped us get a table right away and promptly set up everything. The food was so good, definitely on par with gastropub style but because of the decor it's "country/pirate style" kind of atmosphere here. They make really good roast pork belly and steak pie. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner here. The staff really made a difference. They also helped us understand how the service charge is distributed to the staff as well. Pricing was ok for the amount and quality of food you get. We can definitely recommend!

An outstanding restaurant - effortlessly romantic, with tasteful decoration and friendly staff (thanks Niamh!). Much reccomended for the gluten intolerant community - almost the entire menu is on the cards. Look forward to returning.

Sensational, cozy place for hearty and artisanal food when in Kensington. Served us perfectly for a romantic occasion before the Proms. One of us is gluten free, and the options are extensive - which was tremendous. Would be nice if this information were on their website, though. Overall one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had.

This was a wonderful find! We ate upstairs in the dining room that was so homey! Our waiter was fantastic, and the food was delicious!

Loved the decor and ambience but felt is was awfully grimy. Had a sneak peak into the kitchen and boy oh boy. Sticky tables. Quality of food was rather mediocre for a space that could offer top end British Cuisine. Has incredible potential. Excellent and Lovely waitress Nieve offered. exceptional service.

A remarkably good meal rustic, albeit dark atmosphere. The steak and kidney pie was truly outstanding. The service was quirky but excellent. A highly recommended dinner destination.

Loved the restaurant . The food was very tasty high quality food. Great atmosphere and our waiter Thomas gets top marks. He was friendly , helpful and very attentive. Thomas made our visit seamless and was very considerate of my two dogs who accompanied. We will be back .. highly recommend.

Awesome restaurant. The food, the ambiance, the staff - all top notch. After 2 weeks of running around all over Europe, this was the best meal we had. It felt like a real home cooked meal, the staff was friendly, and best of all, we were able to walk-in and be accommodated. And the food was terrific!

Lunch meal portion is big. Beef is tender and delicious. Love the decor vibe and food there. Table is a little bit narrow.

We followed them on IG for three months prior to arriving here. After having to wait a few nights for a table I am happy to say it was worth that wait for sure ! English comfort food is what I call it. Three of us had all different things, tastes all around. The veggie bowl was a nice accompaniment as well. Wine. Desert. Atmosphere. Service. All good. Fantastic! The cozy and inviting atmosphere, the delicious food (the best I ate in London all week), and the wonderful interactions I had with the staff were excellent. I had the nutloaf roast with a side of three veggies that came with a delicious gravy, the best cheese and leek tart I've ever had, and a pot of chocolate that was scrumptious. I will definitely come back when I next go to London.

Authentic, great service, good wine, super cosy and very dog friendly...

Really unfriendly greeting upon arrival (a man with a French accent who looked very stressed) when we arrived. Literally didn’t acknowledge us when we entered the restaurant. Staff were shouting at each other downstairs, all a bit comical. Definitely not the romantic experience we had hoped for! Food was nice in parts. Quite expensive but lots of it. Highlight was the lamb. Our server tried his best, was quite chatty but we did wait 50min for our food. I don’t normally give negative reviews but the initial welcome, the tension amongst staff and the wait for mains mean that I will give our experience 2 stars.

I made this last minute booking through email and got the confirmation within minutes so that was a good start! Very responsive even over emails. The place is unpretentious but you get more than you would expect! I chose this place for a catch-up with my friends whom I haven’t seen for 10+ years! We were led downstairs which was a surprise at first but it was the perfect place and my friends really liked it too — what with it’s rustic charm and English food. The food was fantastic (we even had a vegetable dish on the house, thanks!). Service was superb and very patient with us when we delayed our order because one of my friends was running late. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely come here again with my family next!

FABULOUS food, service and atmosphere. My partner and I went in last week for some dinner and had the absolute best meal with amazing service! He was visiting from the US and said it was the best food and service he had in London. Patrice and Niamh were so spirited, friendly, helpful (honestly, you name it they were great). I’ve already been suggesting this place to friends. Price, portion and service are so far the best in Kensington yet. We ordered the duck liver pâté, pork roast (each) and apple crumble dessert. I wish we took pictures of the food but we ate far too fast (and much) with how good it was. Huge shout out to Patrice for being such a lovely spirit, genuinely made my partners trip amazing! We talked about how great he was the whole trip. 11 out of 10 recommended

My partner and I were visiting London and found Maggie Jones because we were trying to find a good place to eat Shepards Pie (can't go without doing this in England) and we came by Maggie Jones's! We were greeted by very friendly staff and our waiter was wonderful. He had explained to us the history of the restaurant as well the fact that we had been placed at Princess Margaret's booth! It was a lovely meal, good energy and very exciting. It made our last day in London extra special and we left with our bellies full of yummy, hearty food as well as our hearts full of a great moment spent in London :)

Best Sunday Roast I ever had, such a cosy place!

Absolutely awful, we were lured in by the good reviews, unfortunately it turned out to be a very costly and disappointing meal, the steak dish, which is £35 pound was below average at best, the Bernaise sauce was clumpy and tasted acidic, it was off. I spent most of the night sick on the toilet as a result of that. I am hoping that this was only and isolated incident, however I was extremely disappointed with my experience and I will not be back and nor will recommend. Only upside was the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice and cozy.

Excellent, cozy establishment with a hint of history. Loved the rustic interiors and the kind of food that will have you sleeping like a baby afterward. The leek tart + pork I had was truly excellent. I also tried the stilton mousse which was fab. Highly recommend making a reservation (easy to do on their website!!) I went in the summer, would love to come back in cooler weather and try more things (pudding menu was expanse!! Must try all)!!

Amazing british cuisine and nice atmosphere

Best nut roast I’ve ever had in this charming little restaurant full of history. It’s been years I’ve wanted to try this truly British establishment just off Kensington High St. Finally went for a weekday lunch. Tries the cheese and leek tart for starters which was delicious and followed that with the nut roast which was truly special. The veggies were so tender and full of seasoning. In terms of atmosphere, I thought it was great, almost looks like an old quirky countryside pub also. The only negative is that the booths are very cramped, especially when fitting 4 into it. Looking forward to coming back and trying something else.

Cute restaurant, inside it made to look like an old farmhouse. The food is delicious, I had the lamb and my husband had the pork belly, both meats were cooked perfectly and very flavorful. The vegetable sides were a good portion and seasoned well also. We got a table downstairs and our server was amazing, he kept apologizing for the kitchen noise but we weren't bothered by it at all. Also had the apple crumble and the ice cream with chocolate and brandy sauce for dessert and they were both amazing, the crumble was nice and warm and the chocolate & brandy sauce was sinfully good.

Although it's not always easy to find a table it is one of the cosiest restaurants in Kensington with really good food. A great experience every time!

I can not say enough positive things about our dining experience at Maggie Jones. Our last night in London, we searched for a restaurant that had a British menu and beautiful atmosphere. We couldn't have picked a better place to cap off our week long stay! The staff were so accommodating and interactive, especially with our children. Thomas, our waiter, was especially personable and kind. He went out of his way to make our children (aged 8 and 4) feel welcome in a sophisticated atmosphere. The food was delicious. Best meals we've all had in a long time. Everything from the bread, the main course, to the dessert was exceptional. My picky children who only eat cheese pizza and chicken nuggets, ate all the chicken breast and chips that were prepared just for them. The decor and ambiance were warm and comforting. If I ever come back to London, I'll be sure to visit Maggie Jones again!

Our VRBO recommended it. We had a great meal and experience. The Maitre D was not friendly but gave us a table without a reservation. James was our server and did a great job. Great personality and his recommendations were excellent. We shared Duck Liver...

So quirky, wintery and romantic. Candle-lit, cottage core restaurant serving a classic British menu. 3 course meal is a LOT of food. The onion soup was a HIGHLIGHT. Gravy and mash with veg was great but the sausage was less impressive. Burnt cream was too bitter but apple crumble was DELISH. I was STUFFED after. Wish I went with two starters instead of a starter and a main! Unfortunately service was quite slow and inattentive

We were not so hungry for dinner. So we ordered a few starters with only 1 main to share. The duck liver pate was delicious. The service was excellent.

Ce restaurant est incroyable, dans un style très ancien et avec de la musique. C'est un restaurant unique de Londres je pense. Le serveur était très gentil, la nourriture était très bonne et les doses n'étaient pas radines du tout. Les prix sont un peu élevés mais il y a des menus qui permettent d'économiser un peu d'argent.
