Madhuban in East Hampshire

Popped in for first curry in a while and was not disappointed. Friendly service & very reasonable prices. My friend had Railway Chicken & I had a lamb jalfrezi..both wonderful dishes. Will return again soon.

We visited the madhuban for the first time and it definitely won't be our last. Great food, good atmosphere and very friendly staff. We will definitely be back

Food as usual very well presented and tasty. I was offered alternatives from what was on the menu as couldn't decide between two dishes, so they made something to my taste which I appreciated. The service is always welcoming and attentive throughout. Best Indian restaurant in the local area that I always return to, so would recommend 👌

Ordered a takeaway via Uber Eats. One order was wrong and food frankly tasted like it had been made a few days ago and reheated. Particularly salmon tikka and lamb tikka were really dry and chewy. Aubergine dish pretty oily. Garlic naan was like it had been microwaved. I will say the Chana masala was great though

Always a warm welcome from Bedhar and his staff. I've been coming for many years and am so thankful we have this jewel in Liss. I open the menu each time for inspiration which sometimes strikes but my favourite is the lamb Mahuban special. Thanks for being a culinary delight in deep Hampshire.

We have been dining, at fairly regular intervals, since Lodue and Bedar opened. We have never had a bad meal and, in fact, have introduced many friends too. Tasty, authentic dishes, genuine friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

We had booked table of 12 from poppadoms starters main and afters took 45 minutes you go out to have a nice evening not to be rushed because they have booked the tables for another sitting, chicken tikka starter was cold dry and tough definitely not cooked freshly I would say precooked and microwaved to warm up will definitely not be returning they are more interested in making money than making good food

We had a large order . The food was bland and not hot . Really disappointed as it was brothers birthday . They were too busy for any form of structure . The bill also was well in excess of £160

Absolutely buzzing on a Friday night. Generally good, friendly staff and great to have Kingfisher on tap. Portions were quite small in comparison to other Indian restaurants we've been too. I'd say the menu is huge which means a bit of a gap in the description of the dishes so wasn't entirely sure what I had ordered. As the place was so busy and so many take aways coming to collect service took a bit of a dip.

Was slightly disappointed, we have ordered from here before and it was perfect however was disappointing this time.

It’s a few years since we’ve been to this restaurant and we had many good experiences in the past. Sadly, this visit was less than impressive. Our relatively early evening booking saw poppadoms and pickle tray delivered. One dipping pot was chipped in several places and really should be discarded in the bin. Tight servings of the pickle dishes for 6 people - perhaps review the portion sizes you serve as a plain poppadom is little more than a large crisp otherwise. Drinks arrived eventually. Main courses ordered and we sat back and chatted, chatted, chatted…waiting for the plates we used for our poppadoms to be collected from the table. A gentle hint of the customers stacking up these plates eventually caught the attention of the waiter and he came over to remove them from our table. Then we had time to chat, chat, chat, chat whilst waiting for our main course to be served. Thank goodness we didn’t order anything over complicated or starters. After an hour and a quarter we caught one of the waiters and politely asked whether our main course was due to arrive. As if by magic, we were informed we were next and the dishes arrived in a rather haphazard disorganised way, so our group got rice but no curry or their curry but no rice etc. Rice portion sizes were also very small. Several of the dishes served to our group contained chicken - it was tough. The chicken jalfrazi looked like no other chicken jalfrazi I’d ever seen served in a similar restaurant. Very little tomato found within the jalfrazi hence it appeared rather too dark brown ( I know recipes differ). It was disappointing to see that tables are no longer covered in table cloths as most appear to be, chipped crockery, long waits before being served, waiters running in the restaurant, waiters carrying 4 plates, 4 rice dishes, plates of naan bread whilst serving customers - no serving trolleys or trays used. There was lots of rushing around by staff and perhaps far too many customers in the restaurant for the staff to cope with. Yes, it was busy, but when customers are forced to wait exceptionally long for their meals to arrive, the quality of cooking and ingredients, small portion sizes of dishes you start to question whether it’s worth going there again? Sadly, our answer to that would be an overwhelmingly no. There are so many other good restaurants in the area - Whitehill and Alton where service, quality of food and portion sizes are so good why would you want to return? Which is such a shame because in previous years we’ve had good food and a good experience here. I just wonder what has happened to change this? Maybe more staff are needed or spread table booking times so your kitchen and waiting staff aren’t so overwhelmed.

Sad. This has always been my favorite Indian restaurant around here. Tonight’s food was not good. Bland & or greasy. I’ll chat with them tomorrow and hopefully get to understand what happened to the great food. I had bought a bunch of friends. No one ate much of their dishes.

The prawns Korma was a small portion it appeared as though only 1/2 the container was filled. The prawns were quite tasteless, while I did place the order I must say for £40 worth of food there is no value here.

Very good quality food and excellent service

All what I call standard Indian cuisine but much more specialised dishes that are wonderful. Be adventurous with the menu you will not be disappointed. All the staff are friendly and efficient could not fault them at all. Surprised with the fair cost of the meal for the quality and service given.

My mum and I had a meal mid week, the food did not disappoint, the service was excellent too. We would definitely go back and i would even concede driving 30 miles for a take away.

Very disappointing! I have been using this restaurant and take away for decades, it pains me to say that this was the 3rd poor take away I have had on the trot (and the last two restaurant visits were bad also). I am not one to readily complain and have given a fair chance for things to improve due to the many, MANY years of fantastic food and service I had previously received, I will not be coming back again. Tomato stew for Chicken tikka masala, not Fried rice and a dry mixed grill …for £45!

A deeply upsetting evening. We ordered a Murgh Deluxe which is minced meat wrapped in chicken. The minced meat was stone cold - straight from the fridge. The food came out very rapidly suggesting the poor use of microwaves and no checking of temperature. Ruined our evening. This restaurant used to be really good but we will not be going back. We at least were not asked to pay for the food or the beer we had just started. Only took the owners a year to comment on our review!

Just a perfect place to eat. So attentive, such ambience, food so utterly tasty, vast choice. I cannot fault this favourite restaurant of mine. A perfect evening. We will be back, time and time again.

First time I have visited this place Staff very friendly and welcoming...Good start. I got home (5min drive) and opened my chicken tikka MAIN... they were warm ish but rubbery. sag alo...not hot at all And the naan was cold. Such a shame as everyone raved about this place. Maybe it's better when you sit in and eat.

We have been going to Madhuban for about 25 years. The food is always excellent, worth going all the way to Liss even though we now live in California! We compare every other Indian restaurant to Madhuban, and miss it constantly.

Most of the food was cold and pretty flavourless. Could easily do better at home so not worth the money.

Amazingly well presented and behaved staff. The food is also amazing and Bedar is such a gentlemen - alongside the food experience, he warming and welcoming nature makes us enjoy the evening even more every time we go.

I've eaten here twice now and both times the food has been excellent. I'd go as far as saying its the best curry I've had!....And I've had quite a few. There is so much flavour in the food which makes it stand out from our curry houses who use too much oil. The staff and management team are also incredibly polite and welcoming. A must on your list and very close to Liss train station too if you want to travel from far awzy / have a drink or two with your meal. 5 Stars!

delivery was more or less on time. The food was another story. Delivered luke warm. Chicken Korma, watery and tasteless. Lamb passant was a hard as shoe leather and bland. (it looked like the sauce had split). Sag Panner took 4 sheets of kitchen paper to soak up the excess oil and the spinach still had twigs on it. The rice was mostly peas. However the Onion Bhaji was nice and crisp. Not going to order from there again.

The lamb was beautifully cooked, just fell apart and the portion sizes were just right. Not so much that you're uncomfortably or too full, just right. Good meal. Just enough people on a Sunday evening to generate a good atmosphere. Food was very tasty and portion sizes spot on. Just need to order less naans, 1 is enough for 3 people. Will not have the Calcutta Calamari again, expected a bit more spice.

Thirteen CCC members made their summertime pilgrimage across to East Hampshire to an old Club favourite having booked a couple of weeks in advance. Previously used Covid screening areas, which are still very useful at giving individual tables some privacy, were dismantled in advance to get us all on one long table. We were warmly received by the senior staff as usual. The menu had been updated in February’22, since the previous full club visit and contains an impressive selection of main courses, most of which are bespoke to this venue. The ‘Jungli Mas’ was particularly popular. The staff spoke with authority responding to Members questions about some of the dishes that they had not seen before. (The sauces of many dishes are available commercially from their sister ‘Honey Garden Sauces’ business). As is the case with large groups, chatting prior to service, some of the Members had forgotten what they’d ordered. This was no problem for the excellent staff who quickly rectified any issues. It was noticed that a high volume of takeaway collections and outgoing deliveries was noted – none of this detracted from the activity in the restaurant. You can guarantee a great culinary experience here, and at good value for money. No wonder this restaurant keeps winning awards! - IC

One of my favourite tandoori restaurants in the local area. The food is superb- I tried the madhuban special this time and it was👌🏼 the staff are so lovely, the owner/manager always remembers our family and it’s such a special touch.

Had a date night here on Saturday - not my first visit for sure but had not been for a year or so. Atmosphere was lovely - not loud but a nice level of conversation in the busy restaurant. The staff are polite and respectful and the boss man is very welcoming and friendly and you always feel like he remembers you from the last visit!! Oh, and food was awesome - like it always has been!

Fantastic food in pleasant surroundings where staff are always charming. It’s the only place my hubby will go to eat out.

Ordered a takeaway to include a Thai Green Chicken Curry which is on their menu and received a chicken curry with Thai green chillies chopped in it !!!! Was disgusting and the chicken was substandard and rubbery . I’ve been going here for 35 years and recently the food has been below standard . Very disappointing. We used to go once a week now it’s once every 3 months !

We go here a lot for family meals. It's consistently good, I don't think we have ever had any problems. Excellent, friendly staff who know how to treat customers.

Food was Luke warm when it arrived. The rice was missing. Rang and they asked what I would like them to do, deliver it or not have rice. Took a further 20 minutes for the rice to be delivered. Not ideal. They did apologise and they did put it right, but I would expect this to be a better service if you are paying nearly £40 for a meal for 2 people. Probably won’t be ordering from them again.

I had a delicious meal tonight celebrating a family members birthday. The service and food was outstanding. I will be coming back for another meal or two.

From my point of view The best Indian Tandoori restaurant I have ever seen.First of all they warmly welcomed us when we reached there. Really such kind a nice service, atmosphere, affordable price as well.Everything is very neat and tidy.All staff are very friendly and smiling face.Hope next time we will go there.

We really enjoyed our time here great atmosphere , very nice welcome upon arrival. Polite amiable staff they were very happy to giving attention to our request about food. The food was delicious and the end we ordered some desserts and coffee which was unbelievable. Can highly recommend.
