As someone who works nearby, I've been to Mabel's many times. In fact, I include it as part of my induction tour for new starters in our office, and always advise them to pay a visit as soon as possible! The food, and especially the cakes, have always been excellent and the portions very generous, plus the little garden at the back is the best local suntrap around. A great place to find a last minute gift, a lovely card, or something you had no idea you needed until that very minute. Where else could you go in for a toastie and leave with a pair of trainers?!

My friend and I called today and the greeting given us by the woman behind the counter was nothing short of curt and rude. The coffee served was ghastly and so bad, we couldn't actually finish them. Will not be returning - ever!

Myself and my Mum went for a slice of cake and a cup of tea and after ordering our food, a lady behind the counter at the front of the tea room began coughing loudly. She was not wearing a mask or any protection. This continued and she did not even cover her mouth when coughing. Feeling very uncomfortable, we decided as soon as we sat down and observed even more coughing that we would leave and ask for a refund. The staff member was happy to do this but had to get approval from her manager, who happened to be the lady coughing at the front desk. Despite explaining that one of us had an underlying condition and felt very uncomfortable, they refused to give a refund so we left. The said she had a bronchial problem so has been coughing for a while. This is very poor service and considering the current climate with coronavirus, this is poor and I do not advise going during the current climate. Avoid!

My sister-in-law and her friend took me to this lovely tearoom. After a browse around at the individual units we had tea and scones. All the staff working in the tearoom are friendly and made us feel welcome. We placed our order and didn't wait long for the piping hot tea and scones to be served. The savoury scones was served warm. Good value for money the size of the scones. The tearoom was spotless clean. Highly recommended and I will go back.

I love visiting Miss Mabels browsing the stalls and having lunch at the cafe. This time was just not up to scratch. The quiche had very soggy pastry, not just a soggy bottom.and the filling was a bit wet too. It was a small individual quiche, not a slice and seemed rather a mean portion although on this occasion I didn’t mind !

Pleasant enough lunch in this Emporium. I had a jacket potato which came with two very nice salads and my husband said that his egg man a sandwich was very pleasing. However I did feel that the whole place needs dragging into 2019 and certainly the toilet facilities leave a lot to be desired. When I looked online I presumed it to be more crafts than secondhand items. This was obviously a mistake on my part. However we came for food and we enjoyed our food.

Whilst some of the food items on display looked very appetising and other customers appeared satisfied, I am giving 2 stars based on receiving distracted service with the order having to be repeated to the person taking it and it was still brought out wrong. The teacake was burned, the plum scone was flavoursome but very cakey textured. The coffees were extremely weak, best described as tasting like the coffee grinds had been used before (sure they hadn't but just sooo weak). Hopefully it was just an off day.

Friends swear by this place but I can't see the appeal. The tea room near the front door serves acceptable snacks. The stalls are less inviting, offering a mix of 20th Century 'antiques' and specialist services (upstairs is plain weird). After my third visit I have decided not to bother again. Difficult parking.

Can't rate this fab place highly enough. The food is all freshly prepared with lots of interesting and unusual salads, quiches and cakes on offer, all served on vintage china by friendly and helpful staff. The tables are randomly sized and spaced and covered in colourful tablecloths, which all helps to create a delightful tea-room atmosphere, even 'though the building itself is huge. After you've eaten, you can poke around amongst the bric a brac, craft stalls, antiques, secondhand and new clothes etc, and find yourself a bargain, or maybe an unusual present for someone.

So pleased we found this lovely tea shop. The service was great and friendly, the choice of food was exceptional and so grateful there were healthy options - the choice of salads was great and the three I chose were so tasty. My husband had a toastie which he said was very good too. There is also a good selection of drinks. Nothing at all to dislike, something for everyone and great value too . Struggled with space with a larger group of friends so would recommend reserving a table as it appeared others had done, that's only a problem because it's clearly very popular!

I come here monthly with my Grandmother- she's not the normal type of grandmother of 70, I'm 21 and i think she's pretty 'hip'!Its so quaint with lots to look at. Old, new and some home made things, books, toys, bags and even a beauty room upstairs! Once you've explored every nook and cranny you can sit down at one of the tables and order from a delicious menu. Sandwiches, cakes, quiche's - which are easily the best i have tasted and the BIGGEST jacket potatoes crammed with fillings and served with your choice of two salads. Washed down with some excellent coffee or hot chocolate. Its almost impossible to leave without a slice of cake after lunch and a new find that you just had to have- mine being an Alice in Wonderland stool not that long ago.The staff are polite and helpful, Highly recommend for lunch and a browse!

My other half has been raving about Mabel's Emporium and the tea room and we visited mid afternoon for a bit of lunch.I went for a the Brie Ploughman's which was served with fresh homemade bread. Tea for two comes in a generously sized pot with enough for three cups each. There is a mouth watering selection of cakes and it is really good value. Afternoon tea for £9.99 will be hard to find anywhere else.I was impressed with my lunch and the appearance of the other dishes available. The Emporium is good for a mooch afterwards and there are some bargains to be had.Additional parking is available over in neighbouring Wickes, Well worth a visit for a decent cuppa

Magic place for tea and cake or a light bite. This was my third visit to Mabel's and it was excellent. It is very enjoyable to browse the vintage/boho/crafts and then settle in for very comfy visit with family or friends. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Found the restaurant while we were in HH for errands. Lovely friendly staff & good variety of choices on the menu. The superfood salad with added grilled salmon was the best restaurant salad I have had in a long while. Very fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked salmon. The decor, furniture and layout of the interior is very dated, but we will both be back for the great food & service!
