Maaneks Indian Takeaway in South Tyneside

My husband went to order our usual takeaway tonight to find their card machine was not working. A trip home to get cash then return to shop for curry. We have always been very satisfied with the quality of food before but not tonight. The mushroom pilau was cold, slimy and inedible and put straight in the bin. The curry luke warm. Because my husband had already made two trips for the meal we did not return it. We will not be using them again.

Food lovely , service absolutely shocking , meal 55 mins late , incorrect order, food stone cold . Eat here every week however now is time to take my business elsewhere

Takeaway tandoori mix box. Fabulous. Best selection of tandoori meats we have had, and cooked perfectly. Enough for four. Faultless. Best Takeaway meal we have had in a very long time.

Ordered a meal at 7:15 and told would be an hour. 1 hour and 15 minutes later I rang back to be told “it’s with the driver “. A further 40minutes and it was finally delivered. Meal was freezing cold and items missing from my order. Very poor service. Will not be using them again 🤬

Curry arrived over half an hour late but well worth the wait, very generous portions, tastes amazing, thank you ❤️

Food was horrible,onion bhaji was cold and stodgy, rogan josh had no flavour, normal curry with a tomato on top !

Cold tasteless onion bahji. Rubbery puri and awful buhja prawn. Tikka mossalawas nice and rice OK. Would not recommend unfortunately

Absolutely disgusting, ordered Rogan josh it was like water and had no taste, chip's were rock solid and Re-heated, the chicken was like something a dog would eat, will never ever order from there again, payed £15 for it all to go in the bin

My meal was tasty but nothing special. The keema mince in the Naan bread was minimal and the spicy chips far too spicy. My husbands main meal, tikka chicken with garlic and chilli was ‘vinegary’ with an after taste and seemed to be lacking any chilli that he could taste or see. Probably not go back

We have always ordered our Indian food from Maaneks for the last 25 years and always have had good service. Ordered food tonight via Just eat at 8pm and told delivery would be at 8:50pm, Meal arrived at 9:45pm (1 3/4 hours after ordering) and I refused to accept a cold meal. Not the drivers fault, but plenty of other good places in the area, so wont be using Maaneks ever again.

We had been ordering from Maaneks for a few years and had always had an absolute first class meal for my family and myself until one time when I went in to get our meal, returned home and to be honest the food I was given was below par. I thought they had maybe changed their chef or were under new management. This put me off for a while until a week or so ago when we decided to give Maaneks another go as the last visit may have been just a "one off" so to speak. Well I have to say I will not be ordering from Maaneks again as to start with they missed something off our order and it tasted awful. My wife managed about 5 or 6 fork fulls and myself about a quarter of my curry before deciding "NO" it's going in the bin. Waste of money (about £30) and our son didn't touch his as he said it just didn't smell right. Also the naan breads tasted very dry and not very fresh and I had bad guts for 2 or 3 days afterwards. Very disappointing and I can guarantee I will be putting my money in a different takeaway cash till from now on

Tried Maneeks after reading reviews and all I can say is I am so glad we did, the food is gorgeous, best indian food we have had for a very long time. Delivery time was as they said it would be and food was red hot. Can’t praise them enough. You really can’t go wrong.

I decided to give Maaneks a try after looking on Trip Advisor for a highly rated curry house as I fancied a change to my usual takeaway. I have to say the staff were excellent - from placing my order to collecting the food. Polite, knowledgeable and superb customer service got the takeaway off to a great start. I always order the same so I thought I’d do the same here to see how they compared to my favourite Indian takeaway. I went for mixed kebab starter, lamb jalfrezei, keema pilau rice and two popadoms. The starter although not huge was tasty with the onion Bhaji, chicken tikka and sheek kebab succulent and of an all round good standard. My main course continued in a similar manner with the lamb succulent and curry full of flavour and a massive plus point was that the dish wasn’t swimming in ghee / fat like some takeaways. The rice accompaniment was also to a high standard with good sized portion. All in all a very good curry and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend giving Maaneks a try.

Great banquet offers Sunday to Thursday with reasonable fast delivery. Best Indian take away in Shields.

Ordered a set meal with a wide choice of different dishes for main course. Delivery was prompt and food good quality and excellent value. Worth trying out, away from the usual South Shields curry road.

Not like the original Maaneks so i was rather upset. Nothing wrong with the food just a totally new crew and different taste. I hope they change the name and find there own identity.

Usually order from here often and this time we decided to get masala and bhuna... very pleased to say we weren't disappointed! Lovely staff, reasonable prices and delicious curry. What more could you want? Will be back soon

Been using Maaneks for years now. Food is always of the highest quality and the best tasting Indians in the town. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

We have been ordering from Maaneks for 30 years or more. We have never had a good meal ..they have always been EXCELLENT meals, & the best tasting takeaway in South Shields. Always Excellent Always Tasty and superb quality. Phil Marion & Chris.

Have to say that I've been ordering from Maaneks for a few years and was disappointed with our meal. Our side salads for out starters were missing and puree bread too. Curry was warm and chips were hard. I phoned to complain about missing items and was apologised to but not offered anything to reimburse me. I think maybe it is under new management as I've always received a good service. Hasten to say I won't be ordering again from here.

Fantastic food .... Excellent menu with some unique chef specials .. Great service off the young lads .. Very good prices , and I believe this to be the best in town ... But every one has different tastes ... We love it .... Cheers lads Delivery service offered but I always collect ..

Hemos comido aquí semanalmente durante los últimos 7 años y hasta te puedo decir cuando es un chef diferente!! La única pega es que no te dan puntos de fidelidad! El servicio y la entrega es excelente!!

Nos encanta este lugar! Siempre hemos pedido desde aquí cuando queremos un curry y ha hecho durante años. El domingo menú especial vale la pena el dinero. Tenemos sentimientos encontrados, pollo Tikka kebabs, una simple curry de pollo con champiñones, Aloo de Bombay, arroz pilau, patatas fritas y pompadums desde el menú especial a 9,95 . que no iría a ningún otro sitio y sin duda lo recomiendo.

Good prices, excellent service and delicious food. We ve been eating their food for a number of years and regularly recommend to others. This is take away only.

Always great tasting food. Best in the north east for me. If you are a big fan of Indian food this place is a must!
