Ma ida Table Spread in Newcastle upon Tyne

The food was lovely, fresh hot and flavoursome. Staff all very friendly and restaurant has a lovely ambiance…..but we were pretty annoyed on our night here to see they are now adding service charge onto the bill. When I asked for it taken off they said it is compulsory….well for the record it is NOT! You can not force this on people, that is against the law. A tip is at the discretion of the guest, and they have the right to have it removed. So do the decent thing and don’t be so presumptuous. We will not be back till this happens.

Tonight we ordered a take away meal for the 1st time. The delivery was on time . Tho part of the order was missing . I rang them and was told that apparently we hadn't ordered the korma meal . But the onion bahjies we had paid for weren't there so they would be sent out asap . Buy the time the meal came Nd bahjies the rest of our meal was cold. As plastic containers are used we couldn't keep it hot. My chappie was sweaty and cold But we were charged again for delivery. So a take away meal that would have cost us from crawcrook tandoori if we had been well enough to drive to cost us nearly £50. Were the same order from crawcrook would have cost £28 . So guess where we will be going back to . Tbh the food was ok but pricing is way too high Nd customer service needs attention .

Gorgeous food! Wonderful Indian restaurant with lovely decor, lighting and great atmosphere. The staff are great and very helpful and welcoming. Bring your own alcohol and have a great time. Free parking at the rear of the building. Excellent value for money too.

We spent £60 on a takeaway to throw it all in the bin. Curries were tasteless. Nan looked disgusting and onion baghis flat and hard.

We had a takeout rather than a meal in the restaurant itself. Sadly, I regret to say that my family all agree that the quality of the food is not what it used to be. Specifically, the quantity of meat in some of the dishes is very low and insufficient. Last time I ordered a lamb dupiaza, the container was 90% onion in gravy and 10% or less meat. I just put it down to bad luck but the last Biriany had so little meat that my granddaughter joked that “they forgot to put the lamb into this.” It may just be a matter of taste, but none of my family rate the small, flat Onion Bhaji. Quite frankly, they are pretty tasteless. The sauces were also rather bland, not much difference between the different curries! On the positive side, the Chicken Tikha and Vegetable Rice were excellent. As a family, we used to look forward to meals from this restaurant but I fear that we might have to look further afield in future.

A brilliant menu made to make you think about the food , the service was great the food was amazing and the service was unreal well done lads a great night out was had

I came here with my wife after hearing really good things from friends. I was not disappointed. We were greeted by a pleasant gentleman who gave us an option of seating. Service was quick and efficient. The menu is vast with lots to choose from and the waiter was knowledgable in all of the foods they provided. The food was honestly the best curry I’ve had! Prices were reasonable and overall we had a lovely time.

Having used this Indians since they opened for meals out with family and takeaways I was saddened to get a very poor standard of service over the weekend. I ordered online via their website. I know they are expensive compared to other takeaways in the area but I've always got what I paid for in quality. sadly not this time. The food arrived on time delivered by a pleasant enough fella. As we were dishing the food out I noticed that the 2 curry dishes were 'warm' at best. Once plated we tucked in and soon realised that the chicken was particularly dry as was the rice (3 different types and all dry). The chips were wrinkly which is usually a sign that they have been reheated and not freshly cooked. Both myself and my wife managed less than half of the meal and gave up! I got the naan bread to dip into the sauce (I had microwaved the sauce by then) and all was good until I spotted a long black hair in the keema! That was the final straw. I didn't ring the shop as I have done once in the past and got fobbed off when they forgot a dish and told me to come pick it up! I do hope that they pull themselves together and get back on track. If their customers are paying top dollar they will expect top quality!

Our first time for ordering a delivery. We'll definitely use Ma'ida again. It was really useful being able to pre-order online before they were open. A prompt confirmation after opening time indicated the estimated delivery time and the food arrived well within that time. We were very impressed with the amount of chicken and prawns in the dishes - a recent takeaway elsewhere was mainly sauce! Thank you Ma'ida - you contributed to a lovely evening with friends. We'll do it again!

All four of us had delicious food, both starters and mains. Excellent service which was attentive but not overbearing. Comfortable surroundings. Will definitely return.

Booked here for my sisters 30th birthday meal, food was absolutely outstanding and with a table if 37 i can imagine it to be hard work but these guys pulled it off, would recommend here for group bookings.

I've just been out with my colleagues to have a lovely girls night out. Outstanding service friendly staff and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this place we will be going back. Beautiful place what more could we ask for. I could easily give them a 7 start they deserve it.

Absolutely beautiful food. Both Chicken starters were so succulent and well cooked. King prawn main delicious. Couldn’t fault the service either. Outstanding. Really impressed. Will definitely be back.

Just spent £45 discounted to £36 with an online order discount! for a starter and main meal for 2 people, Which btw I’ve had to put some chips in the oven to be sure we’re full. It’s my birthday and thought I’d treat myself and pay a little more for something special and different from the ‘CLAY OVEN’ in chapel house, which btw is excellent because we are isolating (covid). The nan bread i expected to share with my wife is the size of a saucer, the Maida starter surprise which cost £6.99 was a samosa, a cheese stick and a lamb chop in onions was tasty but I could have had better from Morrisons for about £2. The Deshi takari sauce is very good but not as impressive as when you get it in the Restaurant with a split chilli on the top and my wife’s mango Ajwa sauce is gorgeous. All in all i will definitely not order a takeaway from this restaurant ever again but will definitely ‘take my own drink’ and have a sit in as it is a very good outer town restaurant with great service, great atmosphere and welcoming staff. To summarise in my opinion this restaurant is not a good takeaway, but is definitely a good sit in local restaurant 😊

We had a delivery from them. Very poor. The shashlik was just acceptable ... everything else was awful. A leathery naan, a bhuna bhaji that was tasteless mush and a chicken tikka masala that lacked flavour and was so crimson it looked radioactive. Never again.

When we walked in, I thought how nice the restaurant was. Modern, bright and well laid out. The service was erratic, slow and bazaar at times! One waiter brought naan bread to our table and out it down. We said we hadn’t ordered it. He picked it back up and offered it to another table with the bread in his hand! Unbelievable at any time but particularly COVID times. The food was nice but nothing remarkable. I made bad choice of mussels to start. There were only 5 and dried out. The chicken dishes were ok. On the whole I’d say it was okay, but I wouldn’t rush back.

Ordered via Uber eats this evening food late , cold and main dish chicken was as if it had been added to a pre made sauce , not the usual standard of this establishment , rang the restaurant to complain to told the manager would ring back in 10 minutes ! Never happened , shame, don’t offer your services on Uber if you don’t intend to keep up your quality

Ordered a takeaway but disappointed. The chicken tikka was fine but the Naan bread was cold despite being in a foil wrapper. The main course sauce was tasty although quite spicy for a mild dish but the chicken was very overcooked. Have had both takeaway and meals in the restaurant previously but based on food tonight will look elsewhere in future

Great that our favourite restaurant is back dined in the new socially distanced outside seating area which the staff advise me has a few improvement in hand. Chilly but sunny and as always food and staff were excellent - used takeaway service throughout lockdown but the restaurant experience is better.Welcome back.

We have just had the most superb Indian curry from the Ma’ida Restaurant in Walbottle. Starters meat samosa and Sheek Kebab were devine, main course H M Bhuba Gusth beautiful tender chicken with a lovely chilli rich sauce, we also have the most fabulous fish dish Beng Fish Masalam wow !! New to the area and first time we have used Ma’ida, we will now be regulars to this fabulous Indian restaurant can’t wait when we can go and have a fantastic meal out. Everyone is wondering the same... how are the take away meals from here awful and the restaurant are amazing? Obviously food is a huge talking point during lockdown and all have the same opinion. Shame as your restaurant food is fab.

This has been a favourite restaurant of ours for a long time but I won’t be ordering a takeaway again! It took over 2 hours to arrive!!! So disappointed that they weren’t honest about delivery time when I ordered the meal. They may have been worried about losing custom by saying how much of a delay to expect but they’ve definitely lost our custom as a result anyway.

Booked takeaway meal for New Year’s Eve treat , Came an hour late which was fine but we paid £33 for a curry dish , Nan bread and £15 mixed grill starter which for the money was disappointing. We used our own rice as £3.99 is way too expensive for a portion of boiled rice . Main dish was beautiful as per usual but very disappointing for what we got for the money , need to lower there prices and keep up with other takeaways .

We ordered a take away delivery at 5.30 with a promise the food would be here within the hour as we explained our children would like to eat with us.It turns up at 8pm which is just a joke. Please don’t promise a time if you cannot deliver this. Manage your customers expectations which is the first Lesson is good customer experience. Food also very average here. Wouldn’t order from here again.

Bharat chat is simply the best starter ever invented - great food great friendly service and COVID friendly we’ve been having deliveries during lock down but pleased to visit in person.

Been here many times over the years and from the first visit I have absolutely loved it, I take all my family here for birthday meals etc and can't recommend enough 🤗 fab service, food and portion sizes ☺️

Conseguí el pescado tikka fir mi entrante y te sentiste muy mal por él, no había mucho y era bastante soso en comparación con otros restaurantes. Mi plato principal era hermoso, me encanta el chile y el ajo, así que fui por un curry que estaba lleno. Compartimos arroces, todos eran encantadores y mi chiapatti de ajo también era precioso.Mi amiga no estaba contenta ya que cada vez que pasaba un camarero golpeaban el respaldo de su silla y lo mencionó varias veces.Lamentablemente la comida no me sienta bien y llevo años yendo aquí, cada vez que voy tengo dolores antes de salir del restaurante. Tampoco obtengo el mismo plato, así que no estoy seguro de por qué sucede esto aquí y no en otros restaurantes.En general, fue una visita bastante agradable para mí. Tal vez pueda hablar con el personal y averiguar qué podría ser que no me sienta bien allí.

El chef Ezhar prepara la comida a la perfección. I was recommended this restaurant by colleagues and friends and I have tried many Indian restaurants in Newcastle but Ma’ida is one of or if not the best I have tried.From the moment we arrived the atmosphere, serve and food was all amazing.The menu is interesting, with a lot of unique dished to the restaurant that cannot be found anywhere else.I started with the standard popadoms and pickle try and then I tried something different from my usual go to of lamb Balti and I’m glad I did, the Kandahari was fresh, tasty and packed with flavour, I also ordered a mixed grill, Tarka Daal, rice and garlic keema nan and everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. This is defiantly my new favourite go to Indians and I can’t wait to return to try all the other unique dishes.

I wasn't too optimistic about coming to this restaurant as it is a little out of the way, but it was worth the trip. The food was lovely, some of the best I have had. It is very reasonably priced too and more so as you can bring your own drinks. Well worth it and we shall be back.

Personal muy arrogante, su comportamiento no era bueno y había muy mal servicio. La comida no cumplía con el estándar y, principalmente el langostino, sabía a cera. Había un chico joven trabajando en el bar y no estaba prestando atención, sino que estaba hablando por teléfono cuando estábamos tratando de pedir una bebida. Fuimos a una reunión y a comer, pero el personal fue terrible y tardó demasiado en preparar la comida y fueron extremadamente groseros y nos dijeron que ese era el tipo de servicio que nos brindaron e incluso nos hicieron pagar el cargo por el servicio. Nunca volveré aquí de nuevo, no lo recomiendo.

Lo peor de lo peor, en todos los casos, además cobran 15% SC. . No tienen idea de lo que se llama servicio o forma de hablar con el cliente. cenamos todas las semanas, esta es la peor. . En pocas palabras, no recomiendo perder tiempo y dinero

Mis otros siete amigos y yo visitamos el restaurante que no hemos reservado, entramos y vimos el lugar vacío solo con una mesa de tres, ya que el camarero me preguntó que dije una mesa de 10 y por alguna razón se sorprendió, pero finalmente una mesa estaba vacía. cuando nos sentamos en el bar, nos llevaron a nuestra mesa e inmediatamente nos preguntaron cuánto tiempo estarán mis otros amigos y me informaron que la cocina cerrará a las 10 p.m., ya que mis amigos comenzaron a entrar de 1 en 1 y en 10 minutos me preguntaron tres veces cuánto tiempo iba a ser, en este momento comencé a sentirme incómodo ya que el clima querían nuestra costumbre o no, pero finalmente llegaron todos mis amigos. Solo había 2 camareros y uno de ellos estaba escondido en el bar probablemente en su teléfono móvil y el otro corría hacia la cocina, así que tuvimos que llamar al camarero varias veces y luego llamamos su atención, en este punto, señalé a 1 de mis amigos que no vamos a pasar una buena noche, eventualmente pedimos nuestra comida y tardó un poco en salir, los platos salían 1 por 1 y, sinceramente, cuando todo salió por primera vez pocos platos se estaban enfriando, hubo muchas veces que tuvimos que llamar al camarero.

Nos sorprendió encontrar un restaurante de esta calidad tan lejos de la corriente principal (5 millas al oeste de Newcastle) La variedad de platos era muy diferente de la norma. Como de costumbre, otra gran noche para comer en maida, muy concurrida el sábado por la noche pero con mucho personal y muy eficiente. Decidió comenzar con los popodoms y la bandeja de encurtidos, luego ordenó un plato mixto de entrantes favoritos que estaban felices de sustituir con un plato para obtener bhaji de cebolla. Luego pedimos pollo tikka biriyani que estaba delicioso, especialmente con el curry que ayudó a hacer este plato aún más delicioso. También tuvimos pan nan y realmente no pude terminar. Estaba tan lleno pero muy satisfecho, me gusta el hecho de que tomes tu propio alcohol, ya que esto hace que la noche sea menos costosa.

We visited on a very busy Saturday night,we made the mistake of booking on line for a table, this was accepted on line. On arrival the staff did not have our booking as it no longer works with the online booking people, so be aware on telephone them direct. The restaurant does not sell alcohol but they don't mind you bringing your own and do not charge corkage.Our food was really good and well presented, the cost was reasonable,we will definitely return.

Had tea here at weekends, as we often do. Ordered a chicken tikka balti dish, which was delicious however there was only 4 tiny bits of chicken in, two which were inedible as it was so rubbery. What’s going on maida?

Hemos estado varias veces con amigos diferentes y nunca me han decepcionado. El personal siempre es amable y acogedor, y nada es un problema para ellos. La elección del menú es muy buena y variada. Los pedidos fueron tomados de manera rápida y eficiente. No hay que esperar demasiado teniendo en cuenta que la comida es fresca. Tome su propio vino o cerveza, pero por favor compre sus refrescos allí. Los cócteles sin alcohol son fantásticos!

Please don’t waste your money. Greasy, tasteless curry. Rice like an Uncle Ben’s microwave pouch. Burnt naan and way too thick. Worst Indian I have had in a long time.

Comí fuera para la víspera de Año Nuevo antes de salir a tomar algo. Era un menú fijo con alrededor de 4 platos para elegir en el área de inicio y plato principal. Sin embargo, el rango del postre y el tamaño de la porción podrían aumentar, ya que se trata de un apagado. El menú fijo de la víspera de Año Nuevo era de 30 por cabeza, que es la mitad de lo que la mayoría de los otros restaurantes están pidiendo. El servicio fue bueno, pero uno de los jóvenes miembros del personal masculino fue un poco grosero y actuó como si no pudiera ser peor, lo que no es el aspecto que desea ver. Habiendo comprado frecuentemente comida para llevar en este restaurante, pensamos que tendríamos una comida adecuada allí. Reservamos para un sábado por la noche en septiembre. Estaba bastante ocupado, pero no lleno. El servicio fue bueno, no teníamos prisa. Pero tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo entre los cursos, y al final tuvimos que levantarnos para pagar, ya que parecían haberse olvidado de nosotros.

Took my two daughters as a treat , our table was booked for 5.30, was sat down by a guy who seemed like he didn't want to be there, 15 minutes later he came and asked if we wanted drinks, by the way we were the only people in the place at this point, there were no milkshakes available for my 13yr old, and no mocktails for myself and other daughter, so I had water and they had coke, which they can have any time and not pay a fortune for. Another 15 minutes later he cam back to take out order, by this time a table for two had arrived , they were given popadoms with dips etc while they waited , we DID NOT, 50 minutes later our starters arrived. Then we had our main, not once did anyone come over to see if everything was ok, if they had I could have asked for more water as I'd ran out, we were in this place till 7.10 , if you can't be ready to serve people at 5.30 don't start your bookings til 6 o'clock, not impressed at all. The food was nice and that's the only reason I gave stars at all. This has put me off going back and I will not be recommending to friends , if anything I'd tell them not to bother,

Came here with my mam and younger sister this evening. We booked a table for 1730, upon arriving the man at the desk advised he hadn't had the chance to load up the booking system as he'd just opened and started walking away from us, he then turned and gestured at us to follow, he was a little rude and didn't seem to care in all honesty.

This is only the 2nd time I have been here and I live not far. The food is very good indeed, chicken rogan josh and vegetable pilau rice and popadom all spot on. Staff very nice indeed, ordered a meal to go for my son when I was finished my meal and they gave me a complimentary can of coke 'on the house' definitely going back and highly recommend. Please note they don't serve alcohol but you can take your own which is unusual.

We were there as a group of 6 on Thursday night. The service and restaurant was excellent, plenty of room around the table. We had a variety of bhuna, balti’s, and some mango dish. All the food was excellent, so much colour and could taste so many flavours in contrast to other restaurants. The quality was amazing and we will certainly return, even better - we don’t have to go into city centre and there is car parking at the back. You have made the old co-op alive again, thank you.

I'm not an expert or a great lover of Indian food - but Maida takes some beating. Great menu - food is cooked perfectly and beautifully presesnted. Mouth- wateringly good.

fantastic food, lovley decor, the manager and his staff are great, easy to park 5 minuites from city centre, the atmosphere is more like an Italians than an Indians, and a bonus you can take your own drink. overall Fantastic even get my takeaways ( the food is that good)

Went to this restaurant on a Saturday night. Where do I start! Wow. The service was spectacular, food arrived on time and piping hot. Can’t put the taste of the food in writing. I’m completely lost for words.

Ordered a takeaway from here as local takeaway seems to be dropping the ball a little.

The food ranges from very good to ok for takeaways and the restaurant. Six of my family ate here in November, and the young man attending to our drinks( there is no alcohol licence here), didn’t understand that sparkling wine is not served in wine glasses, but we all have to learn, so we accepted this as part of his learning curve, but my son was less than impressed. My food was very good and so was the food for my other 5 guests apart from my son. What I find disturbing, is that we were sat beneath a huge mirror extolling the virtues of Mohammed in the Koran. Really?!!! In a Restaurant?...How crass and insensitive!!!!this is not the place to extol your beliefs!!!!... not for me anymore....

I have never been before because of the distance from where i live. Tonight as it was a special occasion me and my better half decided to treat ourselves and we were not dissapointed! Ambience is relaxed and spacious! Service is impecable and the food is absolutely amazing!!! Every thing was perfection and cooked in the most authentic but uniquest way possible. The aromas and flavours were the best ive ever tasted! All round 5 starts from me and my guests thank you guys keep up the good work!!

Came on Dec 23rd for a birthday treat. It was a busy night, but the service was spot on. As for the food...wow. It was amazing and a reasonable price. Would I recommend it - definitely. Well worth a visit.

We placed a order for collection, it wasn't hot or even warm, and mainly the prawns were clearly off, the stank so pleased I didn't give it to my youngest who wouldn't of known better and just ate them!

Had takeaway for 2 on Saturday just gone. I was dubious about getting a take out as I’ve only ever eaten from one other Indian take away. It’s the best decision I ever made to get food from here. I had a chicken dansak which was first class. Cooked to perfection, tasty & as spicy as I’d asked for. Absolute sterling service from this little gem! Definitely the best Indian takeaway in Newcastle!

Went with my friend for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing food and atmosphere.

Just a great experience from the moment you walk through the door. Lovely surroundings, great staff and fantastic table settings. The menu is vast and the food is superb. This is the second time we have dined here and in my first review I stated that this restaurant is better than any you would find in Brick Lane London. The meal we had on Tuesday confirmed that. My daughter has been raving about this restaurant for a few months now and trying to convince me to try it even though it's a little further than we would normally go. Finally have in and we booked a table for all the family. It was all my daughter had claimed. The food was delicious, far superior to my usual haunts. The service was attentive and restaurant was bustling. We enjoyed the fact we had to bring our own wine - much cheaper and we get what we know we like. We will definitely be making a return trip.

When back in the North East of England one of my first stops is always Ma ida. This time it was simply superlative. I travel a lot and eat in some pretty good restaurants, but this hidden gem is amongst the very best. The food, service, ambience etc etc just cannot not be bettered and, for value for money, you get international class food for local prices.What more is there to say - if we had more restaurants of this class the EU would be begging us to stay and show them how it is done.

This place never fails to provide an excellent meal. Weather you sit in for a meal or get a takeaway the food is alway superb.Not only is the food great, the staff here are always so friendly and polite. We have a India takeaway closer but always come here as we have never been disappointed and fear other places won't meet our expectations.

Staff are friendly and very helpful making useful suggestion to some of our party who were not confident with spicy food. Service was excellent restaurant is unlicensed and did not change for use of glasses for the wine our group of 6 brought. Food was hot and very tasty 2 of the party live in York and said this was the best Asian food they'd had in years.

This is a lovely restaurant with delicious food, the oregano malai chicken is out of this world, with beautiful flavours. I am allergic to chilli and don't like sweet (honey, almond) sauces so going to an Indian restaurant usually means I have tarka dall but this place caters for everyone. My husband had a slow cooked lamb dish (can't remember what it was called) but he said he'd never had anything like it and coming from a man who would eat Indian food every day given the chance, this is some recommendation.

The food is always beautifully presented, and the portions are generous. The staff are always very helpful. The restaurant is spacious, and always very clean. This is an excellent place for impromptu meals midweek, as no need to book. Weekends however ar much busier, and advance booking is recommended. The staff also provide a Take Away/ Delivery service and the food is equally as good and the portions are plentiful.

The food was fantastic and delivered promptly. The starter contained very large prawns salad and a tastey yoghurt dip. The main also was a generous portion.

Well, this is a bit of a cheat really, I have already enthused about this restaurant and have nothing to add to that previous review, apart from to say that, not only is it still an amazing dining experience, but they also offer a takeaway service that is on a par with their in house service. I was apprehensive about ordering a takeaway (visions of leaky foil containers and stodgy rice etc) but this was a revelation. Definitely restaurant standard food, well packaged and presented and piping hot. I ordered on a Friday night and takeaway was probably a good choice as when I collected the order the restaurant was absolutely full.The moral of the story - book in advance or order a takeaway you won't be disappointed with either.

I have been going to this Restaurant since the day it opened, the quality of the whole experience as never changed.I think I have tried most things on the menu and some that are not, I have never once had any cause to complain about anything and it's a pleasure to go there, nothing else to add really.

1st time i'd been, heard nothing but good things beforehand. Amazing food, outstanding quality, great friendly service. Went as part of a table of 15 all served together which I was surprised at.By far one of the best restaurants ever been to. Will definitely be revisiting again. Highly highly recommended.

I came here as a change from my usual Indian for a Saturday night takeaway. I'm well pleased that I did. the meal we had was very nice.I ordered Mixed Kebab followed by Jal Jhul Hansh (spice duck curry) both were very tasty and filling. My girlfriend ordered Bhuna Prawn on Puree followed by Haryali (bright green dish that was apparently very good)I will definitely order from here again. It is very high quality Indian food. Reasonably priced too!

The room is very well laid out with thoughtful decor. One wall is covered with Islamic phrases praising Allah. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food was good to very good but not brilliant. No alcohol is sold but the restaurant will provide glasses and open bottles of wine for you if you bring them.

My family and I visited Ma'ida for my birthday celebration. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who quickly escorted us to our table. The decor is very modern and the restaurant spacious. After having ordered the food it was quick to arrive, the presentation was great and the server very professional. The food was outstanding and nothing was left on the plates. A cake with candles was brought out for me to share with my family for no extra charge, this really was a lovely gesture. I will most definitely be going back sooner rather than later and have highly recommended Ma'ida to friends & family. Thank you for a great meal!

Advertised as opening at 5.30pm, We turned up for 6pm to staff sitting around table chatting, not prepared for service, shirts hanging out, ties undone - we then had to wait 15 minutes for popadoms as the kitchen weren't prepared either. Service did seem to get a little better at around 7pm but a bit too late for us at this point. Food was ok but due to the lack of service offered we really wouldn't go back. Shame as we only live in the next village..

WOW.We were down from Scotland midweek .The family decided we should pay a visit to this fabulous restaurant ,what a find.The food was amazing ,we all had different starters and main courses, we were all delighted with our choices.I would go as far as to say this is one of the best indian meals I have ever had.The restaurant itself is lovely even the crockery was beautiful.The other thing that makes this place stand out is the great staff and service they provide. Nothing was a problem.As they don’t serve alcohol we took our own wine, however they do sell soft drinks and non alcoholic cocktail which looked great. Cant wait till next visit.Sent from

We have visited here a number of times and enjoyed the food. We decided to try a take away and I wish we hadn't bothered. It arrived incomplete and what did arrive was quite shocking. We were sent the wrong rice also. The chicken chatt was bright red and was flooded in a water like solution. It looked awful. I phoned and explained that we had the wrong rice, no chips and that what we had picked up, just didn't look edible. We were offered money off but by this point we were starving so I asked for the food we had origionally ordered and didn't accept the money off. After 45 minutes our food arrived and we were asked to package the origional order up for the delivery driver the return.The 2nd batch was the correct order but the only things that had any flavour were the chilli curry and the nann. The mixed kebab was soaked in oil as the baji was on top of the tastless chicken and lamb and the layer of oil in the tray was very off putting along with the grey looking kebab. The chicken chatt wasn't floating it water this time but was bright red and just tasted of sugar, no flavour. The chips were hard and unpleasant.A waste of money and sadly this has completely put me off ever returning or ordering a takeaway from there again which is pretty sad.

Best ever Indian. I was sceptical at first... had doubts and even some concerns but so glad my friend chose this restaurant. Sauces so tasty! Must find out their secret ingredient. Loved every mouthful. Love Sololmons but this is even better. Will take my best friend Jamie when he's back from work. Craig Scott

I think we must have been unlucky looking at the other reviews.The presentation crockery was about the best thing, I have had a better curry from a cooking sauce. The jalfrezi tasted as if someone had spilt the chilli pot into it, on the other hand the rogan josh was bland and the meat content was very poor not many pieces approx. 5 slitters of lamb. Then when I got the bill I was charged for poppadoms of almost £40 as there were 11 of us that we did not have.

We visited this Indian on a Wednesday night and it was quiet. The meals we chose were excellent and the service friendly. There is no alcohol on offer so take your own if you fancy a drink. Overall a nice night out.

Have been here several times and the food is always fab. Great choice of vegetarian food - it's bring your own drink so the bill is always reasonable.The staff are helpful and the service always good.Will go back soon

Eat in or takeaway the food and service here is the best around..the food is full of flavour and well seasoned...go for something off the grill the Lamb chops of King Prawns wowzer!!!

This is a lovely place to eat. I have been a few times now, it is very local for us, and we always have great food and excellent service. There have been times when the wait has been a little longer than hoped but we have always felt that the staff are genuinely sorry when this happens. It also isn't the cheapest place to eat but the quality of food makes it worth every penny.

Food is always excellent here been here 8 times now and has always been the same, I have never seen duck on a Indian menu before so I gave it a try and it was delicious would Deffo recommend :)

On arrival the restaurant looks beautiful nice décor, well dressed tables ,(nice table linen and quality cutlery) good seating and an Interesting water feature .The toilets are also well designed and offer good facilities shame about the hand dryer though.The service staff are friendly ,helpful, pleasant and try to guide you through the menu choices. On the evening we visited 6.25pm on a Wednesday the restaurant was busy, both with takeaways and guests and the staff struggled to cope (greeting and seating guests, answering the phone and dealing with takeaways).What followed was a 40 minute wait for any food whilst watching the one or occasionally two front of house staff not coping or nervously waiting.When our food arrived the pilau rice, chips ,plain and peshwari naan were all lovely well cooked and tasty. However what should have been the star the Rogan josh curry we both ordered was poor the meat was slightly overcooked and the sauce was thick ,oily, and so reduced it was very salty verging on bitter. we were offered mango chutney which did not arrive either.We live locally but will not be visiting again any time soon.

2 hour wait for a meal and still got charged for it when it was cancelled. Never going back. Thanks for wrecking my birthday meal

I have been travelling for a long time and have lost count of how many Indian restaurants I have eaten in, but I never expected to find the very best tucked away in a village close to Newcastle. The exterior is not the most prepossessing, but once inside you immediately get the idea that this is something really special. There is no alcohol licence, so you have to bring your own - not a disadvantage as you can decide on your own terms what choice you want and how much you are going to pay!But to the most important part - skipping mention of the excellent service - the food. Simply the best I have ever had. The choice is vast but it all seems to be beautifully cooked and served with real style. I don't want to discourage anyone but do not come here unless you are HUNGRY and appreciative of very fine food.. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.As long as I am in this part of the world I shall be back and back. Perhaps I should keep places like this to myself, but these nice people deserve the widest audiience they can get.So 'phone, make a reservation, fill a bag with your choice, wine, beer or spirits and go and enjoy one of the best Indian meals in England. Text me if I am wrong.!The ratings on Trip Advsor only go to 5 stars but this place is worth far more, so, if you have any stars not being used add them to my 5 star rating.

The restaurant is on the ground floor of what once was a coop store after which it was a carpet store. The décor and ambiance of the restaurant is modern and fresh. Many reviews mention the water feature which is quite unique.As the restaurant does not have an alcohol licence customers are allowed to take their own. Glasses are provided.We visited early on a Friday a party of 6 and although the restaurant was quiet when we arrived it soon filled up to capacity. I would suggest making a reservation.Although maybe a little slow the service is very good from friendly staff.Regarding the cost of the meal it was mid range. A starter, main course and a nan cost around £18. The menu had dishes which were not what you would normally expect. All our meals were very well presented.

We love this restaurant and go regularly as we live nearby. Nothing is too much trouble and the waiters are so friendly and helpful. We take all of our friends and recommend it to everyone. Went on Sunday with our daughter and again the food was superb. I had stuffed chicken, my husband had a fish curry (his favourite) and my daughter the king prawns - everything was cooked to perfection as usual. Can't wait to go back.

I have been here many of times and never had a bad meal yet the waiters are friendly and helpful the place is spotless and very modern Added bonus is you can take your own alcohol :)Highly recommend the mixed grill it was amazing

Fairly unassuming from the outside we went at 7 on a saturday night and it was already busy. 3 birthday parties going by the cakes and singing!Lots of running around and shouting by the bar staff but they were all polite and helpful.Food was very good right up there with the best indians we have had but my wife was a little disappointed with her crab cakes starter saying it was a bit flavourless. Mains were really good thoughWe took a bottle if wine and ordered water the whole bill came to £40 very reasonable for the quality it was busy all night lots of people collecting take away tooWill certainly be back as its less than 100 yards from our house! Might try take out next

We go to Ma'Ida every week - we love it. The food is consistently delicious , the tables are beautifully set, the staff are efficient and friendly. The cost saving in taking your own alcohol is an extra bonus. We have taken lots of friends who have all loved it and we are just so happy to have such a FAB place in Walbottle. I would not hesitate in recommending it
