Lucky Beach in Brighton and Hove

We stopped by Lucky Stars Fish and Chips after a long flight, eager for a hearty seaside meal. Overall, the portions were decent, though we thought they skimped a bit on the fries—which seemed odd, considering they're usually the cheapest part. On the upside, it ended up being just the right amount to eat without any waste. Price-wise, it felt a bit high for the portion sizes, but considering you're literally sitting on Brighton beach while eating, that's probably why they can justify it. The fish itself tasted good at first, especially after traveling all day, but unfortunately it didn't sit well afterward—making us wonder about the quality of oils used in their cooking. All in all, it's an okay option if you're looking for quick fish and chips right on the beach, but perhaps not the best Brighton has to offer.

Our whole hen party raved about this place! They gracefully accomated 11 of us on a Sunday morning, with fantastic food and such lovely service. I had the breakfast burger which was nice juicy meet, right amount of caramelised onions and cheese! Special shout out from all of us to Cameron for being so so wonderful and going the extra step with a doggy bag for a friend that had to run for a train and and even going on to the beach to take a group floor of us when he noticed us trying to do it with self timers! We loved you!

We stopped by for breakfast at this beautiful spot with stunning seaside views. Definitely recommend booking in advance to secure a spot outside and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze. While the food was pleasant, nothing too extraordinary, the service was exceptional friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. A perfect place to start your day and soak in the natural beauty around you!

We came as a big group and a lot of us had a really pleasant experience. The honey chicken burger was incredible and the fish and chips were as good. The drinks however came served with a bug in both. When we asked about one of the drinks the lady serving us said that it was a passion fruit seed. However I had a Pepsi max and had the same bug in my drink. I was shocked by the amount of chips in the hot chip bowl. For 4 pound you should be getting at least 1 serving of chips. I think I counted about 15 chips. I also asked if they had different sizing for the T-shirts and the girl serving us said I’m not sure but I’m sure we do.. I would have thought she would check at least. I don’t like complaining, but her costumer service really wasn’t great. However we did have great service from two of the other staff members. Overall I’m a bit disappointed because I’ve heard really good things.

Very nice place, good food and drinks

Great sitting on the beach in the weather and spending time with friends. The food was delicious. The only comment I would make was that it took a very long time for the food to come out and required a reminder from us, which made us wonder whether it had briefly been forgotten.

A cozy little cafe on the seafront with lots of outdoor seating to soak up the sun! Food wad delicious and the girls that served me was lovely (wish I'd asked for their names!) worth a visit

Had a fantastic time at Lucky Beach. Really enjoyed the tostada and tacos which were delicious. Our server was great and very helpful. Looking forward to returning very soon.

Pros: dog friendly for both inside and outside seating. Nice quick service. The local fish was fresh. Cons: paid £53 for 2 fish and chips and 3 drinks. The fresh fish was a tiny portion, like 250g (measured about 5cm x 5cm x 4cm) chips were waaaay too salty that we couldn’t physically eat them. We Even tried rubbing the excess salt off with a napkin but that didn’t help much. We Told the staff who just said “thanks for the feedback, we will let the kitchen know” but no offer to actually replace them or a refund. Very disappointed as it had such good reviews. I would NOT recommend this place nor would I eat here again.

I recently visited this restaurant and had a pretty awful experience. I ordered fish and chips, and while the fish was tasty, I found a huge parasite worm in the last piece. It was absolutely disgusting and made me feel sick….. 🤢 I’ve had fish and chips countless times and never experienced anything like this. The staff was really nice and apologetic, and they refunded me without me even asking. I just hope this was just a one-off thing and it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

This was the first place we went for breakfast when we moved to Brighton and have returned frequently since, but after our experiences on the last two visits, we won't be returning. The food is good, but the portions have shrunk to the point where they are now tiny, while the prices have shot up and the quality of service has fallen off a cliff (we waited for over an hour for our food, with no updates from the waiting staff). There are loads of great places to eat in Brighton and the great location doesn't make up for the poor service and rip-off prices.

A lovely spot right on the beach. The drinks were very nice - I particularly enjoyed my Bloody Mary. For food, I ordered fish and chips which was very nice - the mushy peas were also outstanding. Because the sun was shining, they were very busy, but were friendly and efficient. Overall, it was very nice and if you’re looking for somewhere nice for lunch on the beach - Lucky Beach Cafe is a good choice.

Superbly disappointing and expensive lunch here back in June this year. Paid for a large seafood platter for my family close to £30 plus sides and drinks and what came out was a joke for the price. I did question the tiny fried fish portion and one server thought it was a kids portion. I was then told some long winded excuse that basically it is what it is. Very disappointing, no one took responsibility because they just didn't really care because i guess they have the footfall. Will NEVER return and wish I took pictures of the utterly disappointing food and service. To top it off you could see all the other diners get a proper fish portion for much less. There are too many other good fish restaurants in Brighton to ever be robbed like that again.

¡Cómo está abierto este lugar! Peor servicio y comida que he experimentado en un tiempo. Normalmente empezaría con lo bueno pero no lo hay. Interior sucio. Los baños apestan. Barra pegajosa y olorosa. La mayor parte de la comida: calamares, pescado (abadejo barato) y guisantes y papas fritas todo directamente de una bolsa del congelador. (Vi su entrega de comida entrar así que puedo confirmar esto). ¿Costar un brazo y una pierna por qué? El servicio fue más allá de lo normal, casi grosero. Creo que la mejor palabra para describir este café es pomposa. Piensa que es algo que realmente no es. Simplemente no comas aquí. TE DECEPCIONARÁS.

Nice place on the beach, The food was very tasty, it took a bit longer than expected to receive our order but the sun was out and the coffee was good

The fries are soft and glutinous, and the green beans are really delicious😋 I totally love the green bean paste! ! The fried fish is also great, the shell is crispy and the fish is tender, it’s a great experience!

Very good fish and chips! I recommend the deep fried fish. Nice place. A little expensive - 20 pounds/person. I don't recommend the lemonade, it's just rock water with lemon.

2 star review ⚠️ A 750ml Belu still water billed as miscellaneous drinks at £7.50 Which is extortionate! It's a £1.50 bottle of water to buy in. Always been happy to pay up to £5 when dining out. When having paid the bill and asking a young lady member of staff behind the bar politely, is the price correct for the water. She said "tap water is free" very sarcastically. Food we ordered was average. Although well known for there food as per waiters initial communication. Bacon came out like charcoal on the full English. With the sarcastic attitude/response from member of staff behind the bar ,it was a disappointing first experience from a local Brighton resident writing this review!

Food was average. Freezer style hash browns with a bit of parmeesan cheese on top… not inspiring for £5… extra mushroom another £4. Freezing cold crab meet alongside an eggs benedct 🤢. Coffee was good. Food took 45 mins post our order. Sitting outside in an area that had installed heaters, which would t be turned on… multiple people asked. Will not be going back, would not recommend.

This is Munjin Restaurant located on the beach. This place was featured on Kim Na-young's YouTube, and the fish and chips chicken burger is delicious! The staff are friendly too!

Lovely breakfast and great coffee

We attempted to have breakfast here this morning, we got our drinks, all of which were disappointing, cold coffee, bad tea and iced coffee that tasted like dish water. After waiting half an hour for breakfast we asked the staff how long it would be as we had to catch a train, we were told it’s on its way. 15 minutes later we asked again to be told they’ve just started cooking it with no apology for waiting time so we left with a refund. Awful service, awful drinks and no food.

It looked like a nice sunny spot so I ordered a coffee. 15 minutes later I gave up waiting. It wasn't even busy. I got much better service next door.

Local fish and Chips are crazy good! Didn’t expected that to be this good. It’s a nice weather out with this fish and ships together with a beer is made my day. Even green salad is good for side dish. Crabs cake are also good to try. If you are planing for a beach walk then this place should be in your list!👍😁

This is the best food on the seafront, a cut above. Fish tacos are an absolute must, but it’s all delicious, get a table if you can.

Lovely little cafe on the beach front, food was good but what stood out the most was the service. Our waitress was phenomenal, very friendly and attentive. Went above and beyond and was great with our dog! We’ll 100% be back :) Thank you, P.s we came 23rd Sept around 10am

Mehh, used to be one of the best burger bars in Brighton. Whilst the staff are very friendly and location is fab the prices have raised too high. Old vegan burger was great, now its a grilled mushroom in a bun which is laughable. Family said the meat burgers were good, one person said the batter on their fish and chips was unpleasant.

Now, onto the food—we tried the Fish and Chips, Fish Tacos, and the Kids’ Burger with chips, and all three were absolutely delicious! The Fish and Chips were perfectly cooked with a light, crispy batter that didn’t feel too heavy. The fish was fresh and flaky, and the chips were golden, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. If you’re visiting Lucky Beach Café, the Fish and Chips are definitely a must-try. Double Cheeseburger................ lies... no its not. They state they add extra cheese so therefore its a 'double cheese' burger?? Not actually double burgers.

Had high expectations due to recommendations. Overall positive experience but a few issues. I got the chicken burger and everything was tasty except the chicken was over cooked and dry. The crab tostadas were light on the crab. And the plates and utensils were a bit worse for wear. Overall though, food was tasty, the location is great on the beach and the QR code ordering method is convenient

Good place for a drink and a snacks

Stopped in here to watch the sunset with a drink. The order machine didn't work, so I needed to go up & order. The staff were lovely enough, but l found the place expensive for what it is.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good at all. The burgers tasted like nothing and were quite greasy. The side salad was disgusting. The only good thing was the fries. The drinks were quite small. In terms of price, the store was totally overpriced in relation to the quality.

Ok-ish food (tacos, tostadas, salad), bit soggy and tasteless. Portions are a bit small for the price. Of course the location contributed as well but overall not the best, definitely ate better. Staff was friendly but a bit slow. Outdoor seating was nice right by the beach :)

I was very disappointed when I opened the takeaway of Fish & Chips it cost £17.90 it’s very very big RIP off its children’s meal, I will never ever going to this place again and I will never suggest anyone to go to this place. Total gutted

Fácil de encontrar en el paseo marítimo de Brighton, justo detrás de la playa con un montón de asientos al aire libre. Estábamos allí para el almuerzo y era bastante tranquilo, el servicio era muy rápido y la comida era de excelente calidad, especialmente el pescado con patatas fritas, que era crujiente y fresco. Pensamos que el menú era un poco caro para una cafetería, pero también notamos que otros cafés cercanos habían subido sus precios. Lo recomendaría para una pareja o grupo familiar, pero sí espero precios de restaurante.

Beautiful cafe on BRIGHTON beach. It has a terrace on the beach itself, all glazed to enjoy your coffee with an unmissable view of the sea. The girls who serve are super friendly. I went for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday in the middle of winter and I was still able to drink coffee while looking at the sea. The only negative point is that they did not have croissants. The rest 10 points!! They do not accept cash.

Food was over cooked, Order was wrong , Forgot my potato cake for both breakfasts, asked them waited ,an waited then asked again turned up just after, Service was slow ,food was average, Coffee was was bog standard, No one asked how are breakfast was!no one!£39 for that an the service was a disappointment.

Wow! What an absolutely top-notch cooked breakfast. Sausages and mushrooms were especially great! (It normally comes with eggs too, but I don't like them). The serving team were lovely and the view is awesome! Perfect way to start a long weekend 😁 Thanks all.

Came here 6th Aug day was wet and horrible found this place as passed it , went to the undercover bit alot of seats was wet so not much to sit at , food was OK nothing special bit pricey for what you got , service was OK, nice location on the beach

What a charming beach cafe!! Visited Brighton yesterday and enjoyed my lunch at Lucky Beach Cafe :). I didn’t get the hostesses name, but she made my experience here fantastic. It was super hot yesterday and I was wanting to sit at a shaded table on the patio. However, there were no spots available at the time. The hostess offered to put my name down for the next open spot and asked if I would like to sit on the shaded steps and have a cup of ice water in the meantime :). I waited for no more than 5 minutes and a table opened up! Thank you so SO much for your kindness!! Excellent service :). The food was solid as well— I got the fish and chips. Fish was battered and fresh. Watch out for some bones… fries were well seasoned and crispy :)!

Beer was served warm and not great service or drinks but atmosphere is nice

Increíbles desayunos, fuimos aquí dos veces durante nuestra estancia de 3 días. Recomiendo la granola de pera, panqueques y tacos de desayuno! Personal muy atento y servicial, vistas maravillosas, un gran lugar para sentarse y ver el mundo pasar.

Once upon a time this place was a Brighton burger competitor. Not anymore. My food was slap dash. Sloppy, overly greasy burger and some dry left out too long chips. This was lovingly served with an iced latte made with melted bottom of the ice bucket ice. All in all a sad little supper.

Bacon roll abit meh, back bacon pretty basic for 7.90 and pink as me. Granola was the best thing going. Hash browns basically macains with cheese on.

Food took almost an hour to arrive, and when it came it arrived cold, and the attendants totally confused delivering orders at the wrong tables without doing the proper confirmation process

Staff good, service was quite quick as it was busy. You can order with staff at podium or scan the qr code on the table. Loverly to be by the sea 🌊 we sat under the umbrellas, but you can sit looking out to sea on their veranda if you like the sun 🌞 beating down on you 😎

Food was yummy and they accommodated some of my additional requests! Crab cake was yummy and so were the picked additions. Slightly on the more expensive side but a lovely treat to sit on the terrace. Downside were the smokers that congregate by the terrace, wasn’t always the most pleasant dining experience.

Rude waitress at the entry, never seen anything like this in UK. Fish and chips below average. Beautiful view from the terrace though. Respond for the owner. 1. I didnt cut anyone, just asked if I have to wait for table and stand right behind them. 2. I didn’t leave the queue! I was there, in my phone, checking the menu, and your waitress gave table to someone else without calling me and after being rude shouting that I have left instead of saying that she just didn’t notice me and apologising. Anyway, her attitude ruined my lunch and impression of Brighton. All the best.

We tried it today , normally we have breakfast at the Buccaneer next door. Have to say the poached eggs on toast were abysmal, no butter on toast, soggy hard egg with broken yoke .just tasteless .my partner's bacon roll was ok. Staff pleasant but the food was not good . Will go back to our normal venue next door .

Interesting no-contact way of ordering but table service was still somewhat available and the servers were very pleasant. The food was absolutely lovely though, my partner LOVED his fish and chips and my seafood tasted fresh and flavourful. Will absolutely return when I'm back at the beach. A must try!
