No longer has a restaurant........only supplies takeaway. Details online needs updating. Fish and Chips still amazing though eating them at home. Just a shock they did not serve meals on site. Can understand why they don't now........very hard for businesses to keep running. Still the best Fish and Chip shop in Bexhill.

We knew the place must be good when there was a queue leading outside the door! After a 25 min wait in the queue, I have to say the medium cod (that fell off the sides of the plate), lovely chips and onion rings (huge portion) were well and truly worth waiting for. One of the best takeaway fish meals I've had. Thank you to the extremely busy and hard-working staff!

We ordered a dinner delivery to our holiday home. Food was very good quality and generous portions and the delivery arrived on time. Very satisfied.

Omg!!! This place is amazing. The food is to die for. We ordered scampi fish with chips, monk fish with chips, and for kids fish with chips, kids size.

Lovely fish and chips, chips are always hot and tasty, fish is large and coated in just the right amount of crispy batter. And the batter stays crispy until you get it home. Other shops batter loses it's crispness, ends up going soft and mushy and sticks to the greaseproof paper. Always use Louis fish 'n chips.

We usually order large cod and chips but decided to be adventurous and order scampi, onion rings and chips. Onion rings amazing, scampi lovely and moist, no room for chips. Will definitely be ordering this again. First class food and service.

We popped in to quickly get some take away chips as we were in a rush and didn’t have the time to go to our normal chippy Minnie bertha’s as they cook it all fresh and there is always a que ! We used to use this chippy all the time a few years back as it was really good. Obviously changed owners and they can’t even cook chips now ! Our chips were pretty much raw and the taste of oil haunted us for several hours after just trying a few chips before binning the rest ! If I wasn’t so tight on time I would have returned them for a refund….. I can certainly see why they were so quite when all the others ones we drove past after we’re busy. Stick with any of the other chippy’s in bexhill they all pretty good …. Won’t be returning here ever again !

Owner was unhygienic and very dirty, he was also extremely rude and acted like a stroppy teenager. It was badly run and the food was poor quality.

If you want to taste the real British food than go to the Louis... Fish and chips are brilliant... excellent ❤️everything is fresh, stuff kind and welcoming... I am happy to find this place

We have just had a takeaway fish and chips from Louis’ shop. Everything was cooked for us and the food was excellent. We had medium cod, which was large, the batter was very light and not full of oil. The chips were light and fluffy. Louis takes cards so that is also a big plus for us.

Food excellent!!...chips as they should be....crispy & fluffy....only downside was staff and two customers before me not wearing masks even though a sign inside read masks must be worn by customers....sadly customers won't always bother if staff arnt bothering to wear them!!

After a walk along the beach from the Cooden end, we were starving by the time we reached Louis. We had cod/huss and chips and found a bench near the beach. The fish was fresh and flavoursome and the batter perfectly crispy; the chips were properly done... unlike the pasty undercooked chips you sometimes find in chippies. Excellent, we will recommend to friends and will return.

Had louis fish and chips for first time last night, was not offered salt and vinegar for the chips which left them very greasy. Husband had haddock which was nice whilst I had a battered sausage which was nice. Just the chips not great. Salt and vinegar is a staple for chips!

Avoid. Rude miserable, left standing there for ages , no words of thank you when i got the chips, minnie bertha's is by far the better chips

Louis’ never disappoints. Had a takeaway delivered service last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary as Louis’ had provided evening fish and chips for our wedding a few years ago. The service and quality was top notch whether catering for 50 or 2. Large cod and large chips, large cheesy chips, all the extras, delivered to your door and now with the option to pay via a link sent to your phone if you don’t have the cash or like us are having to isolate.Thanks Andy and team!

Best fish & chips on the south coast. Whether take out or eat in (we have had many huge family meals of up to 10 here & always accommodating) you can't beat the freshness of the fish, the size of the portions nor the service.

I ordered a delivery to a local address when I was abroad. This highlighted a previously unknown glitch in the payment system which was handled brilliantly by Andy, making sure it didnt prevent the food beimg delivered as requested. The large size fillet amazed the recipient who reported a good fresh, tasty dinner. Really, Andy gave a masterclass in customer service. Many thanks.

The best fish and chips in Bexhill! Great service, vey organised and efficient. Food is tasty yet not too greasy. Massive portions and at a reasonable price. Make sure you find time to eat here if you're in Bexhill!

Just had a lovely meal from here Cod and Chips were amazing. They are doing delivery but went and collected, good social distancing in place. Good value for money as well

Dined twice here recently had battered sausage and chips both times really good quality best in the district bit strange to have salad on the plate too but will definitely return in the future salad or not lol

My husband and I took our daughter to a birthday party and decided to eat out. Driving around trying to find parking was a complete nightmare as all the road parking was used. Anyway, just as we were about to give up we found a spot just down the road from Louis'. We didn't know what to expect and had a really nice surprise. The food wax excellent - piping hot but not overcooked, the service was quick and efficient and above all the restaurant itself was spotlessly clean. I would go there again.

13 of us age ranging from a few months to 84. Great for all. Food super, limited choice of wines, to be expected. Something for everyone. Staff very friendly.

Recently moved to the area and stopped here for a quick and easy take away on a mid week evening. I found the guy serving a little unfriendly and irritated, the food was mediocre and the menu wasn’t clear as a small portion of chips really is small as in a child’s portion.... over priced for what you get, with a free portion of sarcasm from the guy serving. As a former executive chef of my own catering business this was not well received

We think Louis is the best fish bar in Bexhill. It's a shame they don't deliver on every day of the week.

We had our fish n chips from here and ended up with some else’s food. We stood in the queue, placed our order, it was busy, more people coming in and orders being taken by word of mouth and stuff put in the fryer according to orders. When we got to t(e front to pay the man serving was not on the ball as too many orders, he shouted our order at us we picked up the bag and off we went with totally wrong food and the food wasn’t that good, totally overpriced too. Had better fish n chips from mini Berthas so will be sticking with them in the future!

Came here on recommendation and not disappointed. A basic, non plush place, does take away and sit in for which here are loads of tables. Service was good, finding the toilets might be an issue for some as they are upstairs but there might be another one more accessible (didn't look or ask). A typical fish and chip shop menu, which is after all why we came in. All reasonable price. We both had a medium cod and chips, portion includs a small amount of salad and peas. Also had a side of with onion rings - enough to feed two people. A medium portion was plenty big enough for one, you can have a bigger portion but it must be very big, expect they harpoon them rather than cach them in nets. All freshly cooked and crispy batter - really good and would recommend.

Non-greasy fish, fluffy but crispy chips and always friendly service. Been coming here for years whenever I have been in Bexhill visiting my elderly relatives. They always look forward to my visits cos it's the only chance they get to have this treat.

Never been disappointed - always friendly greeting -always fresh - excellent. Always had a take-away and generally only the fish and chips.

This restaurant to look at hasn’t changed since it first opened, very nostalgic feel with lots of pictures on the walls. We ordered fish and chips and when it came the fish and chips was lovely the waitress didn’t elaborate or specify what peas would come with our meals though and I would have preferred mushy peas, but that’s by the by.

Terrible food and very expensive for the portion size compared with other establishments in Bexhill, the quality of the sausages is quite poor - they taste cheap and are quite small in comparison with others.

I always come here with my family and we always have a nice meal for a great price. You can't beat it, and the staff are friendly too.

I have been going to Louis fish bar for about 5 years now as I have a 92 year old aunt that lives just up the road and I visit every couple of months,one day she said that she would love some fish and chips so of we went and found the restaurant and had our first fish and chips there and have been going back eversince,when I go in I am always greeted with how are you my friend and a hand shake,all the staff are wonderful and the place is spotless anything you ask for there instantly the food is hot and clean don't be surprised if you ask for large fish as it will be large,they do tea coffee and soft drinks its the best fish restraurant that I have seen for many years,i shall be there at the end of next week,its in the parade of shops 200 yards from the station on the road that leads to the sea

Fancied fish and chips on my trip to the seaside, made the mistake of visiting this place. I see a large fish and chips were £8.95 to take away expensive it ought. So went for Savaloy and chips. The Savaloy was heated in a microwave and was the size of a small sausage and split at both ends. The chips were just not nice. As I had walked up the road to sit on a wall and eat my lunch, I couldn't be bothered to take it back. Luckily there was a bin a few feet away. Needles to say I won't be returning.

We were in Bexhill staying for the Eastbourne Airbourne Air Show and after our first day on the way back to our hotel I wanted to find a really good fish and chip shop to eat in for a treat, and this is one of the Restaurants that our hotel The Dunselma recommends.

The service was excellent, the food freshly cooked, environment was clean and staff extremely pleasant and nothing was too much trouble.

Usually pop into Louis on average once per month.Andy the proprietor is always polite and cheerful and gives good, fast, efficient service.Can never fault the fish, always fresh but occasionally the chips can be dry.Apart from the conventional Fish n Chips, burgers, chicken and salad dishes are available.There is ample dining room for eating in, with waitress service. Toilets are upstairs.I will continue to use it.

I've just been back to April 2012 to have a look at the 72 previous reviews for Louis' Fish Restaurant. What's clear is that customers either love or hate Louis' - there's only one or two mediocre 2 or 3 star reviews. Most are 5 or 1. Personally, I love Louis' fish & chips. I've been coming here for 32 years since I moved to Bexhill. I do have a change every now and again but I've always found Louis to be consistently good. At busier times you may well find that you have to wait to order. Your food is freshly cooked and excellent. Staff are friendly and efficient. What more do you want?!It's interesting looking over past reviews. The lower scorers often complain about trivia, or stuff that most of us wouldn't give a second thought to, or that isn't really relevant to producing good quality fast food. Patrick T, who reviewed on 13/09/16, was not a happy bunny. He asked for "large fish and chips with scampi". When staff asked him, quite reasonably, whether he would like these three items in two separate bags, by his own admission he really lost his rag. He's entitled his review "Despicable and digusting" (sic), and has given the lowest score he possibly could. Reviews like Patrick's are of little value. He's abusive to staff but tells us little about the quality of the food. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Louis. You could do an awful lot worse, but I have to say most chippies in Bexhill are pretty good. They all have a lot to live up if they want to stay in business, and I think Louis does.

Wonderful business that's been in the family as long as I can remember. Definitely the best chippy in town. Restaurant also with table service and licensed. Would recommend using Louis for your local chippy. Also they deliver.

This had to be the best fish-and-chips I've ever had; large side-fillet of haddock, perfect light batter, great chips! Impossible to fault. And the service was superb. Needless to say, if I am ever back in Bexhill I'll dine here!

I have been using this fine establishment for over 30 years when it was run by Louis in the shop next door . It is now run by Andy and Nina ,Louis two children. In all those years I have never had a below par meal . They now have much bigger premises with a fully licensed restaurant. The fish is fabulous, always lovely and white and fresh while the chips are piping hot and crisp. The place is spotlessly clean. I just wish I lived nearer as I only get their every month or so . Great place with lovely people who are always give me a nice greeting and even nicer fish and chips . Louis outdoor be proud that the standard he set is maintained . If you visit you will see what I mean . SIMPLY THE BEST. THANKS

We go to Louis' because is offers a decent grilled fish option without any thrills. Service is always good and the food is always reasonable. It's not nouveau cuisine, just good honest food.

Ordered a large fish and chips with scampi. Took 10 minutes to take my order (fair enough, there was a queue and only one server!) but then when it came to delivering my food asked if I wanted two separate bags, I responded "no, I only ordered one cod and chips and wanted them together!"... To be responded by a stroppy petulant adult then blank me and wrap it up (without asking if I wanted salt and vinegar, on purpose!). I paid with a £20 note at the end, and he asked if I had anything smaller. After searching my wallet, I didn't. So he came back with £8 worth of charge in silvers and not even an apology. I get back and I literally have 20 chips. You sir, have lost business and need to grow up and learn how to control your issues.

Very good and friendly costumer service, food was tasty, I din't have to wait to long to get my order. Definitely next time on Bexhill, I'll go again.

First time user of this fish and chip shop. First class tasty fish and chips. All cooked to perfection using rapeseed oil. Very busy and efficient staff. Would definitely recommend to friends and family

Visited August 24th,waited 20 minutes to place order then a further 25 minutes until presented with the take away food. No system in place to place/take orders, cook them and serve. Very unorganised, long waiting times, incorrect orders. Our three fish were soggy and undercooked, chips were ok. Have to say that the man taking the orders/money and serving was rude, loud and making inappropriate comments. Would definetly not visit here again.

We visit Bexhill from South London at least once a year and have eaten in the restaurant and had fish & chips take away. The food is superb, but we did have a very long wait in the restaurant when we ate there for the first time two years ago. But we have since been back and had much better service!

Didn't enjoy at all...Fish wasn't very nice, chips were okay. Refused my mum a child's portion fish and chips when four of us were eating and spotted dust around the place.

I usually use Mini Bertha fish and chip shop for take away but they close earlier than Louis so skidded in just before 10:00 pm and picked up goujons of deep fries cod and lovely chips. Have to say thought it was better than MB, which isn't anything like as good as it used to be. So Louis it is from now on. Can wait to get the chance to go back.

After reading the reviews I decided to try it I only had pie and chips the pie was heated fine and the Chips were good so for me that's full marks and I will go back

Chips were greasy and the portion was full of crispy pieces that had been fried and refried. Tasted old and stale. Shop smelt of dirty old fat. Waitress was rude, abrupt and unprofessional. She actually looked as though she needed a good tidy up along with the decor in the shop.

This restaurant continues to impress. excellent fresh fish cooked to perfection. Pleasantly served at very reasonable prices.....particularly the two course meal with coffee for OAP'sHighly recommended

You can't go to the Seaside & NOT have Fish & Chips ( it's the LAW)I had the large Plaice, Chips with Peas, Salad & a Wally. My Husband had The Grilled Huss, Mushy Peas & Salad. We washed it down with 2 bottles of Merlot. Two tipsy, very full traveler's headed back to our B&B most content.

Best fish and chip shop in town!Many others have opened up and tried to jump in the bandwagon but Louis' remains the best. Louis sadly passed away some years ago but the place is run by his son and other original staff members who have been there for decades.They are always pleasant and the food is great.

Had fish & chips. The portions were very generous and included a salad, a nice touch. However I found the fish rather bland, despite adding (bottled) tomato sauce and tartare sauce (supplied in sachets) but the meal overall was OK.

I have been eating in Louis for almost 30 years, I have never had a bad experience, I have never had reason to complain, always fresh, always hot, always the best quality. Some try, but Louis succeed.

We went to this Restaurant on a quiet evening...but service was still a bit slow. However, when the food arrived, it was of the highest quality, and very reasonably priced. Friendly young waitress. I have tasted much haddocks or cod in my time - and fried them commercially! - and this large cod has to be the best ever.

Went on a Saturday evening. Whilst we were rather early I admit the place was almost empty so we had no trouble getting a table. We had Battered Sea Bass, Chips and Mushy Peas - which really did offer an excellent alternative to the traditional Cod. It was most enjoyable. However, if you are looking for smart service and a touch of elegance then this is not the place for you, but if you want down to earth good honest value then look no further.

My 106yr old patient had let it known to me that she would love some fish & chips for tea and so I found this restaurant on the net. I ordered haddock & chips and explained on the phone that my patient wouldn't need too much but of course I'd happily pay for a whole portion. The delivery man was a happy chap and thrilled to hear about my patient... The haddock was cooked to perfection with the batter being beautifully crispy and without any grease at all. The chips also were tasty and grease free. The portions were HUGE! You certainly get your money's worth and more. Needless to say - I shall be ordering another fish & chips treat in future. I highly recommend the haddock!

There are plenty of fish and chip shops in Bexhill, but Louis is definitely among the best. His prices are reasonable and are affordable for locals and tourists alike. The quality of his products are very good and as normal - all freshly cooked to order. The waiting time is good and his staff are very friendly and jovial. The portion sizes are good and well wrapped for takeaway.

I went to Louis fish restaurant with my daughter, we had cod chips & peas was a perfect meal with lovely chips & very tasty fresh piece of cod. Can't wait to go back.

Louis always use to be the No1 chip shop. Then poor Louis died and things went down hill. Being a manger of a large chip shop franchise, I feel I can comment from the heart. Just drive by and smell the oil coming from the establishment. Perhaps they have got their act together now and clean out the fryers. I just won't be visiting again anytime soon.

I'll confess I've only ever had cod and chips from here, but the reason I keep going back for cod and chips is because it's really nice cod and chips!They do the usual chippy grub too, but the fish is always nice, decent portion sizes, and friendly staff. Can't really ask for more than that from a chippy!

Fantastic food served by fantastic people. Every meal we have had has been 10/10. The batter is always beautifully crispy, the chips are fresh and oh so moreish.. A real treat is the grilled fish. Cooked to perfection. Honestly the best chippy around....

Always choose this place when in Bexhill, friendly staff, they do a most wonderful grilled Skate and at £12 it's a bargain for the quality.

When Louis ran this place it was the best in Bexhill high end ground nut oil great fish cooked to perfection sadly it's now terrible I had a take away its was under cooked soggy crap would never return just shows you that when the main man has gone so did his restaurant

Right, positives first.....and in a fish and chip restaurant, the most important thing, great fish and chips! But please, Louis if you still exist, please, pay some attention to the décor of your restaurant. We love the food, especially the sea bass, which is fantastic, but the reason we have been put off eating here once a week is the depressing décor of the restaurant. Just spend one day, get everyone you know to get some paint and have a painting party, maybe beach hut style, you know, pastel blue and white, and paint all that dark wood into a bright happy place. It is a good sized room, but going in to eat there is like going into the gloom, all dark wood and sticky tables. We tried to overlook it, but after a few weeks it made us depressed. It wouldn't take much and then we would be back and back for good. You could make so much more profit from that often empty room if it was more inviting. Go on, you know you want to, well, if you don't, we want you to!

I was mortified whilst waiting in line to be served by watching who seems to be the owner, lift a tray of cold cooked chips and moving them into the fryer with his hands that have touched money and a cloth used to clean with. Not only are the chips going to be anything but fresh, but the thought of eating food from someone who publicly displays habits like this was enough for me to turn on my heels out of this place fast! I would never eat from this chip shop.

I use Louis chippie regularly and have never had a bad portion of fish and chips yet. The portions are generous and the staff friendly. I normally go for a large cod and large chips and that feeds 2 people easily. The wait is never more than about 10 minutes as it is all cooked to order. They have started a delivery service but I haven't tried that yet so I can't comment.

I see there are mixed reviews here for this place but they are mainly for eating in.Have only recently visited for a quick portion of chips to take away. Really, what can one say about a fish shop?All our food was freshly cooked, to order, by a cheerful fellow who knows his craft.Even my mother in law (who is remarkably difficult to please) loved it.Reasonable prices too.
