Quaint little eatery on the back street of Looe, prettily decorated. Food was a bit average, we ordered a BLT which was toasted but it went a bit slimy with the lettuce and the bacon wasn’t very hot inside, shouldn’t really be offered as a toasted option, just doesn’t work. Loaded fries were nice though. The young girls working there were lovely.

Disappointed. Looked lovely from outside, but should've thought about the red flag of no menu outside. We had burgers and jacket potato. The burgers were cooked, but lukewarm, measly portion of skinny fries, jacket potatoes only slightly bigger than an egg. And don't ask for the loo! Apparently, they only have to provide facilities for staff. We were told the nearest loos outside were closed and to go up to the co-op, 5 mins walk away. They were also closed. No loos in Looe! As a North coast girl, I won't be venturing south anytime soon. Sorry.

Came here for a cup of tea and a bite to eat. The cream tea my daughter had was nice, decent portion of clotted cream and jam however she did say that the scone was on the drier side. The toastie was really tasty, really nice thick bread and a good amount of filling, served with crisps which my daughter happily helped herself to. Friendly waitress who greeted us with a smile and a warm welcome. I would recommend, thank you.

We only wanted a drink, so the service was fine and the prices were standard. It did feel a bit weird in there - we were the only ones in, and it's right off the beach - should be busy, you'd think? Asked to use the toilet, to be told there wasn't one. This is so wrong! Any establishment that serves food and has seating for more than 10 people has to provide a customer toilet - fact. We weren't tempted by the food, but the drinks were fine.

I hate to write a poor review but I genuinely cannot stress enough, how poor the food was - we walked around the town and everywhere was buzzing, busy and full… and found this cafe in the corner… I should have stuck with my instinct and walked out. It was almost empty. There’s a reason for that! Grotty grubby exterior, dirty menus, Filthy condiments, and the food!! It was truly awful. ‘Loaded Fries’ with Southern fried chicken, cheddar cheese and sour cream.. Anywhere else, you might imagine something a bit appealing, attractive, a bit of colour, perhaps a dressing or a leaf or something…maybe lightly grilled, I had imagined anything but what was served up. And at £12.50!!!! I felt gutted, absolutely fleeced. Had I not been in compony I would a) not have stayed when I saw the revolting looking food and b) would queried that bill. A small breakfast bowl portion of undercooked soggy chips, topped with congealed, glutinous pale melted cheese (microwaved?!?) and a small piece of breaded chicken sliced into a few bits on top, under a squirt of sour cream. 1cm of vinegar in the almost empty filthy bottle, apple juice no ice, (or offer of it) just, Yuk. The reason they were empty is because the food is AWFUL. Partner had steak sandwich with caramelised onions and salad & fries, & our lunch companion gammon chips, egg. Lacklustre, tepid, underwhelming, incredibly small portions and it was genuinely incredulous to see this low a standard in 2023. They’ve got some gall to charge those prices too. We sat amidst our uncleared plates long enough, then I delivered my feedback at the till to one of two startled and disinterested waitresses both of whom were sat ignoring their customers whilst on their mobile phones. Amidst uncleared tables outside, filthy condiments, No check back, no offer of dessert (we wouldn’t have prolonged the agony, but still it’s usual to be asked) . I urge this establishment to open their eyes, make the most of their situation - just steps from the seafront, and drag this standard up off the floor. Or stop. It was hideous, and dirty. There’s no excuse for it. And no customer toilets? Nowhere to wash your hands? I thought that was a basic requirement.. Awful at best & surprised that this exists in 2023. (We are fairly local.)

Visited here as a party of 4…..weren’t impressed. High tea comprised of a shop bought scone, shop bought cake and cheap cream and butter - the tea was one bag in a big pot so even after we’d finished our food it remained anaemic. It was £10 which was fairly reasonable for Looe but not for cheap, synthetic produce. No skimmed milk either.

Nice looking little place, good variety on the menu but over priced for a cafe. The cafe was freezing. We had to eat with our coats on, even the staff had big fleeces on whilst they were working. We enquired about heating as there was a fire on the wall but got no response. I had a toasted sandwich with 8 crisps on the side (£8.50) and a latte (£3.50 for a very small cup) which I enjoyed. My son had a small breakfast (£8.50) which had 5 mediocre staple items and a piece of toast and a glass of apple juice (£2.00). We had to ask for cutlery. We had to ask for serviettes. Then we had to ask for condiments. There was no customer toilets and we were served by 3 sniggers teenagers which I thought was quite rude. The worst thing was the ‘smeech’ of cooking fat. There was clearly no extractor fan or airflow. It was disgusting. Our eyes were stinging and we couldn’t wait to get out of there. I had to wash my coat when I got home. Today was actually our 2nd visit. The first time we arrived at 11.35 to order breakfast but was refused even though was advertised as being served until 11.45. We left and ate elsewhere. Avoid. Will never be returning.

The owner of this cafe, has refused to give my 86 year old neighbour a refund on a bill that should of been £17 but was accidentally put through as £170. My neighbour only saw this after the fact, and when queried was told it was OK, transaction was cancelled. Then asked to pay the £17 again. So, 3 weeks later on her bank statement, the £170 was taken. The owner has flatly refused any liability and has told her he basically tough luck. Unfortunately her bank is been unable to resolve the problem because she never kept the card receipt, as she thought it was cancelled at point if sale...... AVOID THIS ESTABLISHEMENT

We visited this cafe early lunchtime (around 12.15) as our 2 young children needed lunch. On arrival we sat at one of the four tables outside (all were empty). We were given menus by the friendly young waitress and my husband was advised by an older guy (presumably the owner) that there would be around a ten minute wait before our order could be taken for food. This was fine, and we were more than happy to wait. After a few minutes our 2 year old needed the loo, so I went to the door to take him. As soon as I was stood at the door, the older guy literally pounced and very rudely and loudly just said "NO, NO, NO". When I asked what he meant, he said "we are full". This, I found surprising, whilst I fully understand the current climate and the need for social distancing, all 4 outside tables were empty! When I explained that we had just been told there would be a wait, and we were happy to wait, he was just even more rude, literally closing the bottom half of the cafe door on me. I know a negative review will probably not affect this cafe's trade, due to its position and location in Looe. However, we will not be lining this guys pockets with our hard earned money, he is clearly in the wrong profession, if he cannot cope with serving 4 inside tables, with another member of staff! Both myself and my husband have previously worked in hospitality for years and have never experienced such rudeness. Had he simply apologised and been polite there would have been no issues whatsoever. Surely politeness is a basic requirement of a cafe owner?!

We have been to Looe a few times and decided to try Loowena for the experience of a "cream tea". First impressions was that the man serving (presume the owner) was not very friendly. We were a table of six so ordered three cream teas to share. When I cut into my scone I found that it was still partly frozen so sent it back, a lady took the scone back to the kitchen without even an apology and a few minutes later bought out another one, again I found that this was also partly frozen, my mum and daughter also had scones that were very cold in the middle. I took this back to the counter whereby the women took the scone back "muttered" something then disappeared into the kitchen never to be seen again. We were left waiting at our table. In the end we decided that we would pay for the drinks, not the cream teas. I went to the till and explained this, the owner was extremely rude stating "so you are eating our food and not paying", I advised the gentleman that we had not eaten the food as it was uneatable but that I was prepared to pay for the drinks. Another young waiter took the payment for the drinks and I have to say he was very polite and apologetic. The owner of the cafe then proceeded to make comments as we left the cafe. Awful atmosphere, very unfriendly, awful food, saving grace, very polite and helpful waiter.

First i ordered the seafood platter to be told they have no squid, then i ordered the steak and onion baguette. No choice of granary or white baguette, it came without salad and crisps as stated on the menu. Overpriced for meal size. Chips tasted of used fish oil, so clearly all thrown in same fryer. Staff have no ability of customer service, no atmosphere, no politeness and no apologies of food not being on the menu. Would not recommend this establishment at all. Still hungry after 'meal'. Very poor indeed for a busy area.

Came in with family for that awkward brunch time. It was quiet but atmosphere relaxed. Between us had a couple of cooked breakfasts, sandwich and scrambled egg on toast. Breakfasts looked great and no complaints from family, scrambled egg really fluffy and sandwich tasty with good, crispy salad and crisps. Was surprised to see such negative reviews on here as they don’t accord with my experience of the place. Didn’t find the owners to be anything but friendly. We would visit again for sure.

I’ll be brief. We visited Looe last summer & thought this place looked nice. It was empty so we sat at the prime window table which had just been vacated. We were rudely told ‘can you sit at a clean table’, without even a ‘please’, so we left. I mean, why not actually clear & clean the table where the (only) customers choose?!

We popped into this delightful little cafe to eat and warm up on a windy day in Looe and were pleasantly surprised.

I moved to Looe last year and having now tried most of the eaterys here I am very disappointed with what is on offer. As a foodie I'm beginning to regret my choice of town to retire to and feel disgruntled that I have to get in my car to find decent food. I have reviewed all the places I've visited over the last six months if anyone is interested in reading my other reviews.

I have been there 3 times and each time it is different. Food sometimes good and sometimes not. Atmosphere quiet. Staff ok. Overpriced.

One weekend in Looe and with two cafe visits. All full of smelly dogs. This place is also very badly run by people who cant seem to summons a smile or welcome between them. If you don't like customers don't open a cafe.Never seen such a miserable family.

We came across this place on a wet and windy Sunday morning and were after a nice breakfast to start our day off. The people who run this place gave us a great welcome and were really friendly and we instantly were made to feel 'at home'. One thing I noticed straight away was the delightful decor inside - the place has been recently decorated with a 'seaside' theme and my wife and I thought it was lovely. We ordered 2 full English breakfasts with extra toast and tea and they soon came out and were very good indeed with everything you would want. I would happily return when in the area again.

The people running this cafe are completely unsuited to dealing with the public. While we were there a party of ten walked out because the owner was rude to them. You are ignored when you walk in and there is an uneasy atmosphere. My wife ordered an egg mayonnaise sandwich which contained salad cream rather than mayonnaise. The bread was supposed to be granary but was just brown bread. I could put up with the discourteousness if the food was good - but it's not.

I've stopped here a couple of times now and loved it. Good coffee and freshly made breakfast on one occasion and lunch on another. Very good soup on a cold day too.
