Lookout On The Pier in Scarborough

We had visited before and had excellent food. Unfortunately , during this lunchtime, I had fish and chips, which were greasy and tasteless. My partners oysters were OK, but the crab salad was average. Not a cheap option, so very disappointed.

Nice looking place staff are happy food didn’t take long to come . Had two haddock meals both with curry and a child’s portion . Came to shy of £43 fish was cut with a lazer small and skinny battered heavy . Chips nice but what can I say they’re chips curry was lovely . We got a tea x. Coffee aswell in the price plus an orange drink 3 out of 5 . Went passed a few chippies my mate recommended The Anchor wish I’d gone there he rants how good it is my fault 🤣

This place is wonderful food amazing staff friendly and helpful. My partner had seafood plater me and my son had traditional fish and chips. the portions were nice setting good view and the price was really good

Im local and go in fairly often, this is the second time in a short period ive gone in, asked for a table, been seated, left at my table, not given a menu, not had an order taken when others have come in 5 mins or more after me and had menus presented to them and their order taken, twice ive walked out.

Great place for breakfast/brunch (and other meals I imagine we just weren't in Scarborough long enough). Brilliant FEBs with different portion options for different appetites, as well as other appetising choices like smashed avocado on sourdough bread, salmon and eggs to name but a few. Great choice of hot & cold drinks as well as alcoholic drinks. We were blessed with glorious Spring weather so there's an outside seating option on the balcony directly over the harbour.

Pre booked a table, lovely little restaurant, small balcony that would be nice to be able to access to take pictures however tables covering all doors. For drinks we had a couple cocktails including espresso martini which was amazing! Perfectly made. And a pornstar martini which was nice however missing half a passionfruit as decor on top. To start we got: Prawn cocktail - very saucy and prawns tasted as if they had been defrosted Panko fried squid - delicious! Looked like mozzarella sticks however they tasted amazing and were made fresh and hot Oysters - had a bad previous experience elsewhere so was a bit weary however these were so fresh and cold! Served with lemon, samphire, Tabasco and vinegar with a few shallot pieces in. Could do with more shallots in future. Mains we ordered: Langoustine special - this was nice however be prepared for a workout! Seafood chowder - very nice, a bit more yellow than expected but tasted amazing, could do with more seafood such as mussels etc Tuna steak - my first time ordering this and knew to expect it to be pink inside however it was cooked through and tasted as if I was eating a solid can of tuna as it was a bit dry. The sauce they put on top with tomatoes was cold so didn’t go very well with the tuna. Great service and fair prices, will be returning!

OMG my sister in law and I shared the garlic lobster and it was absolutely amazing! One of the best seafood meals I have ever had. The service was also very good and nothing was too much trouble for them as I'm gluten free. We will be definately returning next time we are in Scarborough.

Fabulous for Breakfast We were a bit bored if the bog standard continental breakfast we were getting at the hotel. This place was an absolute treasure. When in Scarborough book to eat here!

I have travelled throughout the UK, from St Ives to Leith, from Margate to Blackpool, and so many fish & chip restaurants claim to be the "UKs best". Please look no further, this IS the best, by a long way. This is better than any Michelin starred or celebrity chef endorsed restaurant for fresh seafood. For the first time in many years, I called the chef to shake hands, and to thank for preparing amazing food. Enjoy the experience, because believe me, you won't get better.

Very busy, but managed to fit us in. Exemplary service from the staff from the moment we entered, I had the Crayfish broil, which was very messy but delightfully spicy and flavoursome. Heartily recommended ... I'd advise you pre book.

Been coming here since it first opened and nothing has changed since then! Unpretentious superb quality fish,in a warm and welcoming unpretentious setting served by truly kind, genuine, helpful unpretentious staff. A wonderful addition to the Scarborough food scene. Very nice place for sea food. We had a crab salad and homar in garlic butter. Everything was delicious, juicy and fresh. If I ever visit Scarborough will pay a visit again! Nothing better than fresh local food.

We booked ahead in a Thursday in February half term and I would recommend booking as others were being turned away from this modest sized restaurant overlooking the harbour. 2 adults and 2 kids . Excellent food, the chowder was absolutely top notch, mildly spiced and very generous with the amount of fish. Kids fish and chips good quality. Staff clearly busy but attentive. Worth looking out for!

Not much I can say other than “awesome”! We love everything about the place, food quality, service, location and being did friendly just adds to the experience for us. 👌

This place is a treasure trove of great seafood. Tasty mushy peas, tuna steak and fresh crab in its shell. Chips cooked in beef fat. - yummy, proper fish and chip style. We also ordered the tapas of king prawns garlic and lemon, sadly that didn’t hit the spot and the coleslaw wasn’t that tasty either. Lovely staff, friendly and chatty. Make sure you book a table for lunch time.

The best seafood in Scarborough. So good we visited twice. A joy and pleasure to sample excellent seafood. The chowder is to die for!

We both had the langoustines and they were really special. They took a bit of getting into with fingers, but the taste was fantastic - it's as if suddenly we realized why humans make an effort to find and eat them. And the sauce was magnificent - far more than just garlic butter; it must have had some kind of reduction in it, because it was intense and flavoursome, helped by the charred lemon. This was an exceptional meal, an OMG experience. Oh, and we sat on the tiny terrace - plenty warm enough in February - for the best view in Scarborough, communing with the fishing boats (yet unbothered by seagulls!)

We managed to get a table in this cute upstairs café/bistro with lovely views across the beach and harbour. Lovely welcome and delicious breakfast sandwiches ,made for a great visit. Very reasonable prices too.

What a great place. Found whilst looking for somewhere for lunch on a cold and blustery day. Great location and views and fantastic food. Would definitely recommend the seafood chowder served in a bread bowl.

First time ever trying this place and wow! It did not disappoint. The breakfast has to be the best breakfast in Scarborough, everything was delicious and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The restaurant itself is lovely and the staff are friendly. 10/10!

Spontaneous visit on a cold, damp Monday in January. Absolutely made our day! Incredible food, we had the Lookout Seafood platter. Every part of the platter was top of the game seafood, fresh and tasty, cooked with passion and loads of garlic and butter (yum yum). The service was great and the place is super friendly and welcoming! If you like seafood you have to pay a visit to Lookout On The Pier.

It's no good having excellent staff if you don't have excellent food they have both, eat there it's fab. Front of house young lady was amazing, both efficient and friendly.

Visited for breakfast over the weekend, very disappointed! Breakfast luke warm & very greasy, we left most of it & mentioned to waitress as we paid, she apologised & said would pass comment's on to kitchen. It may seem a bit odd getting excited about a full English breakfast but yesterday I had the best one I have had for a very long time. We were very lucky to be seated with a great view of the boats in the harbour and the young lady who served us had a sunshine smile which helped as it was a rainy day. It's a wonderful hidden gem and we'll worth the visit. Looking forward to returning.

This place was recommended by the owners of the apartment we were staying in. We loved the view looking out on the sea, fishing boats etc. I enjoyed prawns in a dill and cream sauce followed by a Thai sea bass. The food was expertly cooked and full of flavour - with the seafood definitely central to the dishes. Service was fantastic. This was a wonderful find in Scarborough!

We came from all the way from California and it reminded us of the fun and excitement of Pier 49 in San Francisco. I'm really looking forward to seeing the improvements planned for this pier in Scarborough. Enjoyed the staff and especially the food. They were both epic. I highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting this beautiful Victorian seaside resort community.

Just returned from a FANTASTIC bistro Saturday at the Lookout. Lobster was fantastic, incredible butter dressing and chips. My husband had a yummy tuna. Wine was great, service was relaxed yet mindful, environment easy with lovely views…Plus, the price, extremely fair..We will return! Love it. 😍🙏🏻👍🏻
