Lovely place by a waterfall with woodland walks in various directions. Tea garden has extensive outdoor seating, most of it under cover. Food and drink are bought from a kiosk and customer carries the tray to the table. We had scones with jam and cream and tea. Portions were generous. The place was very busy when we visited, but service was quick and the whole experience was very nice. Dogs are welcome.

Fabulous place to walk both the children and dogs! The descent to the bottom of the waterfall was certainly an experience. Not for the faint hearted or those scared of abseiling down a mud bank! Didn't visit the tearoom as we were visiting more for checking out the walks surrounding the area. Beautiful place with built in tree swing! Spent 6 hours exploring the woods so it was a brilliant day out.

This was such a fantastic surprise! I’d started early on the coast to coast trail - my final day- had a light breakfast and (yet another morning of) ordinary coffee (us Australians love a coffee!). When I saw the sign for the the tea garden I thought, what the hell, I’ll give it a go. Well, it was THE best coffee (oat milk flat white) and the most delicious fruit scone I think I’ve ever tasted. The service was quick and friendly and the setting lovely. I can’t recommend highly enough!

Visited here today whilst on holiday in Whitby. It's an absolutely beautiful place with woodland walks, running streams and, of course, a stunning waterfall. Carparking is free ( just what every Yorkshire lass wants to hear) and the tea room/ outdoor cafe serves the best quality bacon sarnies, cakes and hot drinks for a decent price. The staff were extremely accomodating and friendly, and we loved it so much we came back the next day. 😊

I had read a lot of positive reviews about the tea garden online and I was so pleased it exceeded my expectations. We parked at the Forestry car park at the top and walked down to the garden. The surrounding are stunning and the waterfall is magical. The garden is simple but has everything you need. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to everyone even when they are really busy. You can tell they have taken the time to get to know their regulars. We had a cheese sandwich and Mediterranean tart which were excellent. The coffee was great and there was a great range of cold drinks. We followed it with a scone with jam & cream and the raspberry & white chocolate blondie which were delicious. But best of all just being able to sit in the garden of the house and take in nature and the sound of the waterfall was so refreshing and relaxing. I could have spent the whole afternoon there.

Incredible food and drinks at really reasonable prices. The set up is so well thought out with clean and tasteful toilet facilities, children’s play equipment and adequate, sturdy seating. We had a selection of the ciabatta rolls with ham, cheese, bacon etc. and they were all clearly made with quality ingredients. All the baked goods were equally as tasty and the portion sizes generous. The coffees were to a good barista standard too. 10/10 recommend.

Top advice: park in Little Beck and walk the 1.5 miles to get here. Such a beautiful walk through a nature reserve. The cafe itself was brilliant. Top quality scones with jam and cream for a very reasonable price, and a good cuppa, albeit in a disposable cup. It is a great little spot, right by the waterfall, with a real 'natural' feel as all the furniture is wooden, and everything is served in cardboard. Made a lovely afternoon out.

Fabulous outdoor cafe, great service, Chelsea bun and drinks, most welcome after a lovely walk down the hill and gave us the strength to walk back up to the caravan club site nearby. The walk was beautiful, we decided to do the walk from maybeck car park in reverse as we didn't want to get to the tea garden too soon. I wouldn't recommend this route for anyone with mobility problems as it's rough terrain, slippery and a lot of uphill sections, plus one of the paths was covered up where they had cut a whole section of trees down. The Hermitage and falling foss falls are beautiful. The tea garden is lovely, plenty of tables and the food is nice. Has a selection of panini's, salads, cake and drinks. The walk back to the car park is about 20mins and just enough to let food settle.

Stopped here for a rest while on a walk. There's no inside space but lots of outside seating so lovely on a hot day. I had a really good latte, lovely taste and perfectly hot. Also had the Mediterranean vegetable tart (fresh and warm out of the oven) which was amazing. Lovely pastry (not too thick and not too thin!) and plenty of filling and a really god taste. We also got a scone with jam and cream which was really good. Perfectly cooked, didn't crumble while preparing it and very nice taste. Highly recommend this place and we will be back!

What a lovely find somehow missed this place before. Just tucked away down a hill this fabulous pub like time has stood still in a nice way. Tons of character and a pleasant gentleman behind the bar think he was the landlord. Could not believe the price of a Guinness so cheap well under a fiver. Got a pint of Guinness and half a lager under a fiver unbelievable thank you landlord
