I'm writing this review so that people understand there is not a cafe or pub tea/beer garden here. It's an open area with a few tables & brollies over and a small covered area for rescue from the elements, & snacks only are served from the stalls. The options are limited, but the food is lovely, though not inexpensive. There's a little kids play area & the waterfall is nearby the house. Public toilets are 2 small wooden shacks with no windows in the gaps, but they are spotless. T.paper, soap, sanitiser is all provided at the little sink in the middle. It's a stunning stunning area at the bottom of a steep bank & there are various forestry walk options nearby. On the day it turned really cold and poured down, so several people were caught out. There are places which wont be easy for those with mobility issues. Keep tight hold of your dogs & children as the walkway is not fenced in & theres a heck of a drop ... its a fab and au naturelle adventure ramble through the woods. Just be prepared more than we were. We thought we could go for a nice walk and then have a nice lunch after, but no that's not the case. Parking is also very limited. It was really busy early on. A few ignoramouses even parked in the passing places, selfish idiots as usual . But in nice weather it would be a proper little sun trap & there is loads of wildlife and birds to spot. the lucky owners of the house there are in a very secluded spot in a beautiful area and have almost become fruitful forest guardians.

This is advertised as a tea room when actually it is a hut, they have no WiFi so you can’t use Apple Pay. The cafe staff are unhelpful and the queues are huge due to Facebook hype - you can’t access the waterfall and the signage was awful. Definitely over hyped.

Falling Foss is Easy to find through Ruswarp, it’s quite a narrow drive off the main road, but easily manageable. Parking was plentiful when we arrived, but was getting busy as we left. It’s a pay and display car park by Ringo, but we didn’t have a phone signal, so paid when we got home. There was a couple of people panicking over paying. The Tea Garden opened at 10.00, so we had chance to have a short look about till it opened. When we got in, we grabbed a table and benches, it was very clean, and slightly sheltered by trees, but wouldn’t be ideal in rain. We went to order our food and drinks, a rather abrupt gentleman was serving. I’m not sure if he didn’t want to be there, or got out the wrong side of the bed, but his attitude was poor, and is reflected in my score. The food was great, and my coffee was lovely (Dairy free latte). The walks around the gardens and woods are well laid out, things to see and explore, it’s definitely for people who are able to walk down steep gravel paths. Pushchairs with care, not sure about a wheelchair. The waterfall didn’t look accessible to go under it, but the views are pretty nice from the fenced area above. A bit of tree twig cutting wouldn’t go amiss, but that’s a job for the forestry commission. We’d go again, but would hope different staff would be serving. There is no need to be that abrupt when we were more than polite. We spent £55, 5 adults and a child that just had bits from our plates.

Unfortunately popularised on Facebook so extremely busy on a weekend, particularly if the sun is out. Expect to queue for half hour minimum. You can’t actually see the waterfall from the cafe and the facilities are basic with limited outdoor seating only. Food is not bad by any means but extremely limited menu and they run out of much of it by midday. The overall area is pleasant with charming walks through the woodland valley but the waterfall is pretty underwhelming.

Carparking is free ( just what every Yorkshire lass wants to hear) and the tea room/ outdoor cafe serves the best quality bacon sarnies, cakes and hot drinks for a decent price. The staff were extremely accomodating and friendly, and we loved it so much we came back the next day. 😊

I had read a lot of positive reviews about the tea garden online and I was so pleased it exceeded my expectations. We parked at the Forestry car park at the top and walked down to the garden. The surrounding are stunning and the waterfall is magical. The garden is simple but has everything you need. The staff are very friendly and welcoming to everyone even when they are really busy. You can tell they have taken the time to get to know their regulars. We had a cheese sandwich and Mediterranean tart which were excellent. The coffee was great and there was a great range of cold drinks. We followed it with a scone with jam & cream and the raspberry & white chocolate blondie which were delicious. But best of all just being able to sit in the garden of the house and take in nature and the sound of the waterfall was so refreshing and relaxing. I could have spent the whole afternoon there.

The walk was beautiful, we decided to do the walk from maybeck car park in reverse as we didn't want to get to the tea garden too soon. I wouldn't recommend this route for anyone with mobility problems as it's rough terrain, slippery and a lot of uphill sections, plus one of the paths was covered up where they had cut a whole section of trees down. The Hermitage and falling foss falls are beautiful. The tea garden is lovely, plenty of tables and the food is nice. Has a selection of panini's, salads, cake and drinks. The walk back to the car park is about 20mins and just enough to let food settle.
