Watch out for the excess car parking charges payable at the till on your way out if you dare to get comfortable and have more than one drink. The toilets were utterly disgusting. I definitely would not recommend this place.

Stayed here a few times and have had mixed reviewed. First couplenif times was really happy then stopped in a roof room where there were many issues, warm and a leaky shower area. This time i have stayed on the lower floor and although the room was on there was a fusty smell to the room. The cost has increased and the only reason I stayed was because it was cheaper than the travel lodge on a Friday evening. The main problem here is lack of breakfast. There is a generic coffee shop next door that serves what they call breakfast, which is some reheated greasy bits of stail bread.

Been here 3 times, twice happy third time unhappy. The last time here I was in one of the roof rooms. This was too hot and had a number of issues, shower door not closing right causing the floor to flood, uncomfy bed and now started to charge for carpark again. Probably wouldn't stay here again now as this room has put me off for the cost it is to stay here

I usually stop here for dinner at keast one night when staying lovally - I used to prefer the main Aztec restaurant but the menu has become the stagnant and a bit boring. On the other hand the Lodge (Black Sheep) seems to have upped the choice and is slightly better value. This time I went for the lamb burger with paprika fries (extra) and as usual it was fine. The small piece of wood it was served on was inadequate for trying to manage such a sizeable burger however. Oh and they’d run out if mayo! Ketchup it was then. My biggest gripe is the laid back and sometimes non-existent level of service where the staff are either pre-occupied (lookimg at their phone this time or gassing with a colleague). There is meant to be table service but I’m not sure anyone has trained them in how to do this so it’s easier just to go to the bar - even then I waited for some time before being acknowledged. This has always been an issue in the Lodge where it seems the focus is on the Starbucks customers rather than those to the pub or hotel part. Shame really as the food is pretty good and the atmosphere much quieter than over in the Aztec. Staff need to be trained better in service however.

Whilst staying at The Lodge I enjoyed an evening meal here. Despite the initial confusion as this is also a Starbucks I was really happy with my dining experience. The staff were really friendly, the food was made in good time and I really enjoyed it. I had the lamb and would recommend this. It actually turned out handy to have the Starbucks there to get a coffee to take back to my room too. Who knew.

Must admit I was very sceptical when I turned up and a sign pointed to Starbucks to check in! My room was absolutely lovely, however. Very clean and modern and tastefully decorated. Good shower too. Breakfast consisted of a sausage butty and a coffee in Starbucks the next day. No complaints from me as I love Starbucks!! Will stay here again when I’m next in the area.

This hotel has an onsite Starbucks!! Dreams come true!! The quant bar and restaurant in the evening is exceptional value and really high quality. The staff are really happy and helpful within the hotel, restaurant or Starbucks. The rooms are quite well sound proofed and the beds and linen are very good. The showers are the best and the reason I stay at this hotel often. The only downside is no room service however you can order from the restaurant and collect in a takeaway box. The staff and do enough to be helpful

We went to the Lodge on the park, whilst waiting for check in. The place had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we were comfortable to wait there, whilst waiting for our hotel room.

We were at a function in the Aztec hotel but the only accessable room was over at the Lodge on the Park hotel just opposite the Aztec. The room was great though we did have to turn down the heating as it wes far too warm. The bathroon was a full wet-room which was a big help to me. Lovely hotel very Quiet at night. Slept like a logg. Will be back.....

A lovely place to unwind with a glass of wine on an evening with the advantage of a Starbucks!! Food is lovely but a little on the expensive side with portions being not very big. Professional service and would recommend.

We love a coffee stop at the lodge on the park. It is well furnished and has a cosy atmosphere. We regularly pop in, and have had a couple of meals as well when they serve them on week nights. The food has been great.

Good bits: fab room, nothing budget about it. It was excellent. Clean, tidy and great location Bad: bistro next door closed on weekends (no evening meal / breakfast). Didn't know we could use the spa across the road for £7.50. Pillows weren't great! Would stay again without question

The place to eat for this establishment is the Starbucks next door. We perused the evening menu and is was simple but inventive. There is a good selection of wines and other beverages. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Was at the Lodge hotel and ate here one night. There is Starbucks, a bar and an eating area in one block. The menu was a bit limited but good value, tasty with good friendly service.

A somewhat unlikely location for a pub in the middle of a large business park, it has a traditional, stone-built appearance although whether it is one of the original buildings that was here when the area was still farmland, or whether it has been built more recently in a traditional style, I’m not sure. I suspect probably the latter, although I do have a vague recollection of a pub called the Black Sheep being here at one time. There is a lawned area at the front and a few picnic benches, as well as a patio at the rear. The first clue that all is not quite what it seems though, is the presence of a Starbucks sign outside. Once inside, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in a coffee shop, since the first thing you see is the usual selection of sandwiches, baps and muffins with no sign of a beer engine. Persevere though, and you will find a small selection of keg options tucked away at the rear of the pub. Décor wise, it’s definitely more café like than pub like, having a contemporary appearance with plastered walls and a mixture of grey tiles and sanded wood on the floor. A few old beams have been tacked on to the ceiling though, and some inset shelving in the walls displays the odd bottle or two. Food wise, besides the usual Starbucks offerings, there is a chalkboard menu listing a selection of pizzas, salads and sandwiches although I did not study this. I opted for a Starbucks hot smoked salmon salad, and whilst this was tasty enough, it should really have been called a potato salad since this was by far the main component with only a small amount of salmon. There were no real ales on tap unfortunately, with the only beer offering being 13 Guns from Thwaites on keg. The solitary cider was Aspall’s Suffolk. Overall, this is a handy enough pit stop if you’re working nearby, and it’s quite pleasant to sit outside on a sunny day, but it’s clearly not the sort of place that anyone is going to make a special effort to go to. It really is a coffee shop that just happens to sell a couple of alcoholic drinks rather than a proper pub.

appalling service, rude management and staff. incompetent serving, was told it was an hours wait for food when other tables after our group received theirs in 10 minutes. Management of cafe refusing to work, simply stood next to the till. Museum was ok but would not recommend to anyone at any point

What a wonderful experience, food was amazing, everything cooked to perfection, starters, main courses and desserts, great service, ideal ambience and such amazing staff, all smiling, polite and super efficient. Prosecco on arrival was a lovely welcome. Favourite member of staff; Joe, lovely young man. Live singer. 15/10 thank you, can’t wait to do it again!

There are, arguably, two reasons to visit Downend. One is on a summer’s afternoon to watch Downend CC play cricket with the bar in full swing and plenty of boundaries being scored as the ground is relatively small; the other is to pay a visit to Melanie’s Kitchen. This delicatessen shop is a positive cornucopia of cheeses, bakery items, biscuits, chutneys, artisan breads etc etc. The man who serves at the cheese counter (who I assume is not Melanie!) is a fountain of knowledge on local cheeses and knows all of the local cheese producers, when their cheeses are at their best and is happy to provide advice to ensure that you will leave well satisfied having enjoyed a sensory and culinary experience second to none. It’s full marks from me.
