Went here as reviews had said there were lots of gluten free options. These were unfortunately limited, and they did not have any gluten free bread. The food was nice, except for the pancakes, which were way too much - yoghurt and bacon are a no from me, particularly when there is also syrup and compote on them as well. Service was good and the staff were friendly, but the place was a bit dirty. It is also quite small, and there were lots of people with small children who were banging on tables and running up and down from the play area, so it was absolute chaos and very noisy. Hot chocolate however, was excellent.

Very standard. We went by stumbling across the cafe. The outside looks lovely but the inside is just a bit dirty. The decor and vibe I love but it doesn’t quite hit. The toilets were clean and spacious and its kids friendly however the drinks we had just tasted so basic. There was no real flavour to the chai or coffee and the cups they were served in didn’t retain much heat.

Stumbled on this quirky little place. Sat outside wine the dog. Friendly enough staff. Nice carrot cake, topped with lots of nuts and chopped edible flowers however this was spoiled by the synthetic / overly sweet frosting. Think the coffee must have been sat there a while as it it wasn’t too hot. A pleasant place to rest in or out none the less.

After having to ask for a cloth to clean my table along with another customer, I sat and waited 35 minutes for a single piece of cheese on toast. 1 piece of bread, sprinkled melted cheese £5.00 I have never been anywhere that thought an acceptable price was 5.00 for a single piece of dry bread with cheese. On a plate. No offer of salt, pepper, sauces etc so had to get up and go find them and overall just a poor place to eat. Terrible customer service. Some of the other food looked fabulous but not worth the prices. My 4 pound blended ice coffee drink was luke warm, and small. There are better places to spend my money in wells and where I won't have to go out and get something else to eat straight after.

I have been going to loaf every time I pop to wells, this is quite often as I have lots of family there. When I first found Loaf I thought it was brilliant - the food was cared about, the front of house staff were nice and the coffee was of decent quality. My last visit, which has put me off going back for life included; seeing the chef drop multiple items of food and still use them, the jam that was meant to be homemade came from a massive tub, the, cakes are all bought in (I know this as there is a cafe in Bath that uses the same cake supplier - cakesmiths, if anyone is interested) and lastly, the customer service was horrifically slow, as I was at the bar the woman serving was too busy on her laptop to serve me and when she did the service I got was extremely patronising and arrogant, she told me that she was one of the owners but she looked like she couldn't care less about her customers. I am extremely disappointed in what has become of Loaf. the picture of the coffee is from my penultimate visit - not very impressive for £2.80

Homemade soup was delicious, and vegan choc brownies to die for. The bread accompanying the soup was their own sourdough, their speciality, which was great. Also, as I commented to our host (the chef), a decent cup of tea! (Tea in cafes often made with cheap, single cup teabags, which are so weak they don’t sustain in a pot). It was pleasant to come in from the cold to a nice warm, bright room, smelling delightfully of baking, and to friendly, obliging service.

I left a lukewarm review after my first visit in April of this year, but now I visit regularly. As other reviewers agree, the coffee isn’t the best value on offer(though my partner adores Loaf’s iced coffee), but I do love their massive cinnamon buns. I met a friend for morning coffee and my first impression on going in was that the room was somewhat dreary and could have done with some brighter lighting. Coffee was served in very small cups and at £2.80 for a latte was pretty expensive. Service was okayish but I think the very young staff would struggle to cope on a busy day. I looked at the pastries on offer, some very gooey looking cinnamon buns and teacakes. I am a very experienced baker and neither looked particularly appetising, the teacakes had no volume, they were practically flat, in fact they were so thin they would have been difficult to split for toasting. My friend had one of the buns but I could tell just by looking at it that it was under proved and was heavy and lacking in flavour; the only thing I could taste when I tried a piece was sugar and the dough was tough. It could have been an off day but I would say that they need a new baker. I would not have given those buns away let alone charged for them. Very poor. All in all not somewhere I would wish to return to.

Almost running out of options to fulfill a couple of gluten free / paleo diners and also a bunch of kids wanting something less adventurous, we happened upon the Loaf Bakehouse by simply wondering up an interesting looking side street. It is just passed the micro brewery, set back in a cobbled courtyard with plenty of outdoor tables & a pretty wall of flowers added to the look. The venue itself is a charmingly rustic, converted barn that is decorated in a rustic chic style with lots of long tables inside that could accommodate all 8 of us.

Found the loaf Bakehouse on our first visit to Wells . Took a seat whilst hubby went into order a couple of teas and some cake . Eventually he came out and mentioned loads of cyclist were holding up the service that’s why he was so long . He presented me with a piece of Carrot cake , yummy I thought as I was so hungry . As my hubby tucked in I wanted to wait for my cup of tea to have with mine , well I certainly waited and got so fed up I started eating my cake . By the time the tea came our cake was eaten . It really shouldn’t take that long to make a pot of tea , I understand they had a fair few orders in front of us but don’t send the cake out if you know the tea is going to take so long, Won’t be back as also very pricey . Nothing wrong with the cake or tea just dysfunctional service .

Great food, great play area for kids (very useful distraction for a hangry 4 year old) and great service. Not much more to say really apart from they do have a courtyard eating area out front, there is a children’s menu and the food was in general brunch type dishes plus good looking cakes. I popped in for a coffee on my own this morning and was welcomed by the owners. Such a lovely place. A beautiful place with a relaxing atmosphere. Although I didn't eat I'll be back again to test out the menu...it looked delicious!

me and my husband used to love coming here for a lovely lunch on a Sunday, the food was consistent for a couple of months, i am told this was when the owner was being chef, and the food was a delight! we keep coming back as we hope this new chef will have finally learnt how to cook! amazing staff and atmosphere and a lovely home away from home right in our city it's just such a shame about the food

This was our third visit to The Smoking Goat and we again loved everything. Service by Holly and PJ was fabulous, nothing was a bother and we were well looked after! Huge vegan selection and I even got a dessert! Deep fried pickles are an absolute must and the portions are really big!!! Great atmosphere and food. Be back soon

Good value, great taste. We had the cappachino together with a hot chocolate served with a very friendly, chatty service. Made it all worthwhile.

Visited Glastonbury whilst on a weeks break in Crewkerne. Popped into to this lovely cafe as it was dog friendly. Forgetting my glasses I asked if they catered for gluten free, they did (it stated it on the menu). As I ordered the lady behind the counter asked if I was coeliac, I told her I was. When the food was brought to the table, the lady explained that she had cleaned the kitchen and prepared my food using all new unopened ingredients. All I had was a corned beef and onion sandwich, but the attention to detail was second to none. Really recommend this place to coeliacs and non coeliacs.
