We were a group of 24 ladies who all had different meals which cannot have been easy for the chef. Everyone raved about their meal, the food really is delicious and great portion sizes. The desserts were divine too!! The service was excellent. Thank you The Bell Inn, we will be back again.

Great Village Pub with a Great varied menu !!!. Good range of beers, Alcoholic and non alcoholic. Friendly and courteous staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Bell. 10/10

Went there for my 50th birthday after recommendations and had the mixed grill with my mum, we was the only two in the pub at 130! Revived the meal which was huge as expected but none of the meat was seared it actually looked like it was cooked in a microwave! There was no chicken which was surprising, the steak was so tough it was in edible and couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife! The lamb was tough and really fatty! Yes I know lamb is fatty but WOW! There was also no eggs with a mixed grill 😕🤷‍♂️ we tried to eat our meal quietly and as my plate was collected I said to the landlord that the steak was tough his reply was ( well it is rump do you’ve got to expect that!) WOW! I’ve eaten rump all my life and if it’s a good quality peace and cooked right then it will be tender! (In fact I cooked myself a peace tonight from sainsburys and it was as tender as fillet! ) and he walked away! Wow! The chef obviously can’t cook! And the meat is very poor quality! Sorry the bell inn but if there was a minus star rating I would have given it to you! I will never go back sadly 😞

We had a surprise committee meeting there. Apparently there were 5 other committee meetings happening there that night.

Really nice food and good service. One downside was were a party of 9 adults squeezed onto a table which would be most suitable for 6. It was a bit cramped and we all had to eat like a T-rex

John and Mark have played a blinder - Saturday breakfast at The Bell Leigh is delicious, plentiful, and freshly prepared as much tea and coffee as you like. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly chat is a perfect start to you Saturday. Well done guys Xx

Absolutely well worth a visit. Mum & I visited mid-afternoon on a Sunday & like most pubs they provided roast dinners which did not appeal to us. I just assumed that they had other offerings so was relieved when we were given the Specials menu to find something that was more to our taste. Mum had the chicken curry & I had the cottage pie. The portions were huge so we ended up taking half portions home. I personally thought mum's chicken curry was excellent. My cottage pie was not the best I've had but i did like the vegetables of which there was more than i expected. The quality of food was exceptional. The hospitality from the patrons was really good & the friendliness of the locals made our lunch visit even more enjoyable. We were more than impressed so we will definitely be back again - just not on Sunday!

Landlords quite happily showing customers videos of his poor staff drunk singing karaoke with certain body part hanging out disgusting behaviour should be sued .Not what I expected to witness whilst having a quiet drink

Wow what a lovely pub, recommend from Hollybush lodge. Staff are hard workers and food is amazing Mark is a brilliant chef. We ate here for 3 days. Well done team.

We had a wedding party for 50 guests here. The pre-ordered buffet was excellent, the staff were helpful and efficient and the landlord went out of his way to ensure we had an unforgettable evening. We have also eaten here and found the food to be excellent with good portions cooked well . We will be returning!!!

We took my Mother there for her 93rd birthday, we booked in before hand so they knew we were coming. The meals took a long time t arrive, but we were in no hurry so it was not a problem. Four meals came out and they were ok, except for my brother's gravy, which would not pour, it was like one slice or two. I ordered chicken in honey and garlic sauce, new potatoes and veggies, when it arrived there was a distinct odour from the chicken, I am not one who normally complains about a meal and the potatoes and veggies looked delicious, but the smell was that bad I could not eat any of it. I gave it back to the bar staff, but had no apology from the landlord who I believe was the chef for the day. I did ask what he had said when it was taken back, apparently his reply was 'it does smell a bit' I did order a small scampi and chips as I did not want to spoil mum's birthday, but could not eat it. The Landlord was very rude when I asked if the second meal should not be paid for as it was not what I wanted, so to avoid a scene I paid. These meals were not cheap and I will never go back again as there is no customer service, and if that chicken had been given to a child or an elderly person it could have had ended very badly

We had a wonderful very fresh cheese ploughman's. Very filling. 3 Cheeses, Cheddar, Brie & Stilton.

Never have I been treated so badly by a landlord. This pub is a mile from my home and is very nice inside with a small play area out the back, so perfect for my 3 year old boy. Came here for Christmas dinner and the landlady was lovely so thought we would come again for fathers day. Never will I enter this pub again. The landlord was a very angry man. Landlady wasn't there so I guess you can read between the lines as to why he was so angry. I asked politely for a meal that hadn't turned up and was accused of lieing about my order. After some shouting the landlord went off and got my meal. I couldn't eat it as I was worried about what they did to it. I nearly made angry man wear it. My brother took my son out to the play area and after about 10 minutes my son came running back in in front of my brother. This is when the angry landlord decided to come behind my 3 year, pushing him and shouting, " can you control your kids, I don't want them running around my pub". Well we won't be going anywhere near your pub again. Just so you know, angry little man, you made me and everyone I was with, nearly as angry as you. Take a hint and sort yourself out.

Food was below average pub grub but the service was incredibly bad. Owner accused us of lying before realising he was wrong, after that he wouldn't stop staring at our table as if he had some issue with us being there. He then made a point of man handling a 3 yr old in order to try and make a point i presume. The guy clearly had a bad day/life/existence and if this is how he treats people then i feel like others should know beforehand. I never write bad reviews but this bar manager did everything in his power to make our meal as uncomfortable as possible and we felt horrible after spending a lot of money with them. For this reason i would not recommend them to anyone who wants good service and good food. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife!

We came here this evening just to try to grab a quick bite to eat with the family. It was pretty clear we were unwelcome as we aren't from the village and this culminated with the person behind the bar literally screaming across the bar at my husband because the door to the garden was open for approximately 30 seconds. We left post haste with both kids in tears. Absolutely horrible experience and hugely upsetting for all involved.

Went for Sunday lunch, the first time I have visited the bell. Food was lovely and so was the service. Skittle alley is decorated beautifully

We were house viewing in the area and popped in for lunch. A really nice welcome from the landlord ( he did put some background music on as we arrived, but I didn't have my dancing shoes on). We chose the pork chop and chicken special. Both were wonderfully cooked and were enjoyed by us. If we do settle there in a house, we'll be going back to The Bell on a regular basis. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Fantastic Sunday lunch with family. I suffer from food intolerances so contacted The Bell via email in advance of my visit and they responded promptly. Upon our visit nothing was too much trouble and I wasn't made to feel like I was an inconvenience when asking questions - the Manager even brought me the gravy mix they use to show me that it was suitable for me (I didn't ask for this, she did it off her own back which gave me peace of mind) At the end of our meal the Manager came to ask about my intolerances and experiences for going out to eat. She then gave me a copy of the menu and told me which dishes could be made suitable for me. Outstanding service and I was made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be coming back again. Thank you!

Went to get a drink to take to the village hall and was accused of fly tipping in their bin, and treated really shockingly. Also they said they'd send me a bill for fly tipping. Can't believe how we were treated. We did nothing at all wrong!! The attitude of the manager stinks

This pub has it all great food lovely atmosphere friendly host's we have just had a relaxing lunch here with the best salmon fish cakes and ham eggs and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding and cream all fresh upand and served with a smile and a reasonable price would certainly recommend this lovely village pub Norman and Sandra

The Bell is a very friendly and welcoming local pub. It has a great garden for sunny days with an enclosed outdoor area for when the weather is not quite so good. The food is great, with plenty of choice and plenty on the plate! Lots of events such as quizzes and bands and fab community feel!!

It's a 3-star rating for now, but only because we didn't eat there and the place felt a little too 'local' and could do with some updating to the interior. The staff were absolutely lovely though, and the drinks were good. Parking available across the road.

The definition of hospitality: "Hospitality is the way people treat others, that is, the service of welcoming receiving guests for example in hotels. Hospitality plays a fundamental role to augment or decrease the volume of sales of an organization" The definition of a review: "A review is an evaluation of a publication, product, service, or company or a critical take on current affairs" So about 3 weeks ago because I use Google timeline I was asked to review places I had previously visited. The Bell Inn being one of them. Its not a place I go to frequently but have occasionally been to in the past. Based on my opinion I gave 2 stars not an actual written review. These 2 stars were based on particular events that I had witnessed of what in my opinion was bad service. Patrons being shouted at on 2 separate occasions for asking reasonable requests and then talking about those same paying customers to other patrons, this being done by the owner. For my 2 star review I did not elaborate to specific events as I've seen the owner responses to bad reviews and in short a general aggression and the reviewer is the problem not owner. So tonight I go for a drink with friends after a meeting in the village only to be ambushed by the owner at my table in front of other patrons in the pub as to why I gave that review. Again it was 2 stars not a typed review. I responded it's my opinion and there is room for improvement. Isn't that why we have platforms to allow us to rate a service provider. You were extremely confrontational and down right rude to me and made our entire table uncomfortable. You were clearly not looking for any constructive feedback you just wanted to again have the last say without looking at "what could I have done better" as you don't see you as the problem but everyone else. You then walked back to the bar to relay your opinion and what you thought of my review to other patrons who would listen. Wow so professional. I wonder from this experience if you have had any formal training in customer service as you lack the finesse of dealing with customers in a professional manner. I know this review is going to receive a negative, scathing response from you and to be quiet frank I honestly don't care because you know what....just like this is my opinion, you also can have an opinion of what you think of me.

Ordered a takeaway steak meal x2 and I must say it was hot even though I had to drive to the next village . Thoroughly enjoyed my food and I would recommend either the bell in takeaway or sit in food as its absolutely lovely. Top marks and will be my local from now on .

Super Father’s Day meals at the Bell yesterday. We booked late due to a change of plan. We had three courses the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble The two young ladies that served us coped well with our requests and the food was brilliant. Well done team Bell we had a fab time.

We have Just has the most awful experience in a pub that I have ever had. I'm so upset by the experience here and I can't believe that it has just happened. I'm not sure who else I can contact about this and how we have been treated. We use to go to this pub most weekends for a roast dinner, before covid and lockdown, think it was different owners back then? We were booked in for 3.15pm, we arrived at 3.10 ready for our Fathers Day meal, our table wasn't ready so we were told we could go in the markee and wait. We ordered drinks at the bar and then went to our table, which was finally ready at 3.45 pm, half hour after our booked time. We went to order our starters and our main meals, but unfortunately 2 of the 4 starters were no longer available. So we all ordered the garlic mushrooms on toast. They took 45 minutes to arrive and 3 starters were missing. After another 15 minutes the other 3 starters came out. We then waited until another 20 minutes, when the manager came and said she needed to re take our main meal order to make sure it was right, which was abit strange, we thought maybe she had misplaced our order. I asked the waitress if we could have some cutlery for our mains, she put the cutlery on a tray at the other end of the table, (I guess they were soo busy she didn't have time to hand out our cutlery?) so I laid the table. Another half hour plus + and the main meal finally came out, but it was wrong, one roast lamb was missing. Mine and 3 others people's roast potatoes were inedible, they were like rocks, and raw in the middle The manager came out to clear the table and asked how our food was, so we said the potatoes were raw in the middle. We asked the waitress if we could have the pudding menu, which she gave us, We asked the waitress if all the pudding were available (after 2 of the 4 starters were missing we thought we had better check) She said she didn't know but would go and check..., my 6 year old had been sat patiently at the table for 2.5 hours as good as gold waiting for her pudding of ice-cream. The manager then came out, starting raising her voice Infront of my child and said we had been very rude to her staff and she was not going to be serving us puddings!! - at no point during the time we were there had we been rude to any member of staff. We had been extremely tolerate, they were extremely busy and because of this the service was very poor, I'm not sure how many people would wait over 2 and half hours. When we got the bill, there was a bottle of wine on there that we didn't order, so took it back the new bill came, had another drink on there that we didn't order, so took that back too. The 3rd bill came and that also had another drink on there that we didn't order. By this point we were so upset we just paid and left. It really is Such a shame, this use to be a lovely pub and we have had many lovely meals here before. I'm not really sure what has happened..but I'm so upset and cross by the while experience and how we were treated I will never be going back.

Took some searching out down very narrow lanes and what a treasure we found! Very friendly service and a great menu choice, l had the Steak and Cheddar pie had to it's Somerset! The chips were like any chips l have had before, very very crispy and tasty too, my wife had the Fish platter it looked very inviting and a lovely choice of crispy fish, too full for a dessert 🍰 great choice of Thatchers Cider and Dog friendly too. Can't wait to return a lovely gem 💎 for the Gold polishing Guru 👌

The landlord went above and beyond, thoroughly decent and accommodating people, made my friends birthday all that more special! Such fond memories.... Food was amazing and plentiful! Great........ We had previously been for a Sunday lunch which was superb. As a result of this we decided to give The Bell Inn a try for an evening meal. A traditional English pub with a great atmosphere. The owners and staff are all very friendly, helpful and efficient. The menu is extensive and varied providing a good choice for every taste. I mentioned that the menu shown on the website does not reflect the variety of dishes available which I thought a missed opportunity to attract custom. I was told the menu had just recently changed and the website was in the process of upgrade. There are several good beers available I chose a pint of 6X which was well kept, at just the right temperature and went down very well indeed. Angela had a couple of glasses of Pinot Gigio white wine which she said was exellent. Angela chose the John Thorners 8oz sirloin steak. Unfortunately there were none left so she had Gammon instead. Neither of us had ever seen such a thick juicy gammon steak as the one presented. Very generous portions there was too much for her to manage so I had some and it was superb. very tasty, juicy and succulent. I chose the mixed grill. Everthing was delicious and well cooked. You will need a healthy appetite. The bill was pleasantly reasonable too!

Visited here the first night of a week's break, only took us 2 days to pay a return visit! Food was so tasty and great portion sizes, the thai curry was so tasty and had a real kick to it - the fish and chip portions are impressive! The chips are so tasty - so crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My son has a severe allergy and the landlady couldn't do enough for us, double checking ingredients and ensuring the food was prepared safely, even checking that I had his medication as a precaution. Really made for relaxing meal knowing that it was taken so seriously. The owners of the pub were just so nice too, really welcoming and we had such a good laugh with them. Prices were more than reasonable and if we can squeeze in one more visit - we will!!

The most amazing little treasure of a country pub. Not only great food but the service and welcome you receive is above and beyond. We were staying nearby, visiting friends and they suggested having a meal here. It was a quiet night but we found the staff very welcoming. What an amazing menu , were spoilt for choice. I had the home made pie , my husband and one of our friends had the belly pork. All of our meals were superb, the pie was delicous as were the other meals.The landlord came over to our table and chatted to us for awhile. All in all a very friendly and welcoming place , we will definitively be back.

Large country pub with good assortment of beers and spacious beer garden. The landlord was very friendly & service was prompt. I ended up staying for dinner and was extremely impressed with the quality of the food, I go to a lot of pubs and this was the best quality pub food I've had for a long time, would definitely recommend.

Nice modernised building and attactive garden, and with good covid restrictions. However, we found the food only average and a bit pricey, with a quite tasteless Haddock, although Rib Eye was good. Whilst wishing the new owners every success on their new adventure, a tip would be to keep any petty squabling away from the bar area which could be heard all around! - Also, be careful of your pricing!

Go there, have the halibut off the specials board or the ribs, drink moretti and be happy, I did.....

We were diving and stayed overnight near by and what a great pub, warm welcome and friendly service - specials were fab - freshly cooked and reasonably priced - definitely well worth a visit

Great location with superb hosts

We went to The Bell to help celebrate our daughters Leavers Day with her friends and their families. The food was superb, and the staff looked after us extremely well. They followed all of the Governments (ridiculous) rules to the letter, and we would definitely recommend paying them a visit. Thank you 👍

Lovely village pub. Great food and owners very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Visited during a cold windy Monday and apart from the weather it was fantastic. Very COVID secure and all measures taken to make customers feel comfortable. Would highly recommend if in the area.
