One of many good cafes in Frome. Illy coffee is one of the best Italian coffee providers. A good atmosphere in the cafe and at the moment some good paintings on the wall by a prominent local artist.

Nice coffee but everything is more expensive than necessary and certainly higher priced than other coffee shops in Frome which makes the fact it is always cold inside a shame because they obviously aren't spending the additional costs on heating!

Despite being 12pm on a weekday there weren't many lunch options in Frome when I visited, only the odd cafe that was closed on Mondays and pubs that didn't serve food until later. I saw that Le Strada was busy and decided to try my luck, and was very pleasantly surprised! The cooked breakfast was obviously made with care and tasted great, the staff were very friendly and despite every table being occupied the cafe did not feel stuffy. I can see why the people of Frome love to go here!

Café La Strada is a regular haunt for many others, besides one of mine. Great service from all the staff and excellent coffee, excellent coffee! The food is a great accompaniment for the coffee. The food is great food, but the coffee voila! There's even, air conditioning, this further adds to a lovely atmosphere. You can even sit outside in the sunshine or at the top of Cheap St. All the above mixed with sumptuous cakes makes La Strada a favorite place of ours to meet people or just hang out. Recommended visit if you are new to the area or a visiting tourist.

We are a couple, both over 75. We both had La Strada Full Breakfast (see photo). It was delish. One yes, one no on the Black Pudding. We took half of one plate of mushrooms, bacon and sausage…. Enough for breakfast at “home” scrambled with two eggs (second photo). Great service. Friendly staff. Inside and outside seating on May 30th, so no trouble getting a table. They answered a question about the black pudding I emailed them. Answer came right away. Pudding prepared by local butcher.

Stopped for a coffee and managed to get a seat inside near the window. Staff friendly and the coffees were good. Marked down, as not entirely their fault, but the smell of cigarette smoke was inside due to a person sat outside near the door smoking. The outside tables should be further away from the door or it should be kept closed to avoid this, we nearly walked out....

Cafe La Strada is located in the centre of Frome. It is around half a mile from the railway station on foot. It was quite busy on my visit one Saturday morning but I managed to acquire a seat by the entrance. My flat white was good as was the accompanying pain au chocolat. The service was prompt and friendly. The breakfast and lunch options looked decent and alcohol is also available.

Cafe la Strada is a refreshingly good example of a well run independent café. The food is better than good and the service outstanding. The Spanish almond cakes are probably the best cake I've eaten in many years. The food is really well prepared and cooked on site. This cafe was really busy on a freezing November morning and we had to wait for a downstairs table to become free, but it was well worth it. The breakfast menu is served until 3pm which is great and we had smoked salmon and poached egg on smashed avocado toast (slightly healthier than the full English!). Really enjoyed it and well worth the cost. The cafe is dog friendly too and the staff were really good with him, given that he plonked himself down in their walkway. A great find.

I was deeply looking forward to my breakfast - and very very underwhelmed when it came out. For the price point I expected more portion. I didn't like the eggs, they tasted rubbery - my toast was cold, the bacon was cold, but the suauage was nice. The place is cosy and seems to be popular, the coffee is enjoyable and average price. The cakes looks nice. I would come here again for a cake and coffee but I won't be ordering cooked food again. Feels like they are trying to be all artisan with the food rather than provide a decent portion and meal! Edited: meant to give 3 stars not two overall

This is our first choice of cafe in Frome. Italian style, great coffee, ciabattas, breakfasts (favourite: sausage sandwich) and lunches (favourites: local ham, egg and chips; club sandwich) — high quality ingredients and friendly and well trained service. Sit outside and watch the world go by or find a perch indoors. Good for a quick espresso con panna, a Spanish almond cake and a read of the local paper on your own, or with Nonna, wife and the kids on a family Saturday in town. Larger tables upstairs, ideal for families. Also the best Italian style ice cream in the Southwest. Set in a medieval building on on a traffic free lane, with a stream running up the middle. Particularly good for coeliacs — they take it really seriously and anything on the menu can be made properly gluten free (if it isn’t already — the sausage sandwiches for example. I prefer the high gluten version, but their gluten free version is excellent).

A good sized café at the top end of this very attractive street, there’s plenty of seating spread across two floors as well as a few tables on the pavement outside. A cake display counter is in front of you as you walk in, and there were several options that looked quite appealing. I opted for the Carrot Cake Muffin, and this was a good size and quite tasty, although perhaps just a tad on the dry side I thought. Across the table a millionaire’s shortbread was also well received. An accompanying latte was also very good and a generous portion. The waitress who delivered the drinks seemed a bit clueless, but other staff seemed pleasant and friendly. The only downside was that it was quite smoky in there which was really rather unpleasant. Obviously not from anyone smoking inside, but with two customers sat outside right next to the door it was all just blowing straight back in. I would suggest they either ban smoking at the outside tables, or at the very least the ones that are adjacent to the doorway. Overall though, worth popping in.

The waiter tries to find a solution when she is interrupted by another lady, maybe the manager of the restaurant who says to me: "putting the phone on charge consumes energy, and energy has a cost, so it is not possible". I would have preferred to be told that they do not offer this service, as is the case in other establishments, but instead I felt mocked. We don’t really know Dorking but came for a comedy gig and wanted food and drink before the show. We booked a table online and then were a bit confused when we walked in as it’s looks like a work space but then has a bar and says it served food. The staff explained they had a limited menu currently. As we were there and we’d booked we thought we’d give it a go. We ordered halloumi fries to start and then various burgers - whilst initially worried this was just going to be a zap in the microwave job; how wrong we were. The food was so good. The food was restaurant quality!! The staff (particularly the gent I assume was the manager) were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely go again; and look forward to when they have their full menu.

Visited Glastonbury whilst on a weeks break in Crewkerne. Popped into to this lovely cafe as it was dog friendly. Forgetting my glasses I asked if they catered for gluten free, they did (it stated it on the menu). As I ordered the lady behind the counter asked if I was coeliac, I told her I was. When the food was brought to the table, the lady explained that she had cleaned the kitchen and prepared my food using all new unopened ingredients. All I had was a corned beef and onion sandwich, but the attention to detail was second to none. Really recommend this place to coeliacs and non coeliacs.

The Sunrise Cafe may look like an ordinary cafe on the outside but inside the food is something special! Choose something from The Thai menu if you like Thai food and you will experience some of the best authentic Thai cooking outside Thailand! We stopped here for lunch after driving around the Malvern Hills all morning thinking it was just a normal cafe but discovered that it also had a Thai Menu cooked by a delightful Thai lady Chef called "Jim". I am not sure how she came by that name but she was definitely a woman! We chose Tom Yum chicken soup and checked that would not be too spicy hot first. It was perfect and also contained Mushroom, Sping Onion and Tomato. Incredibly tasty with a mild warmth aftertaste. We followed this with a Chicken Massaman Curry which included a Jasmine sticky rice. The curry was the best we have tasted. It looked so appetising with it's rich golden colour. The friendly Hungarian waitress also supplied us with water and afterwards my wife Angie had a hot chocolate and I had a White Cofffee. A fantastic meal and drinks for just under £20 a head. If you are touring the Malverns this is worth taking a detour for! It is open from about 8:30 am to 4pm this time of the year and has a garden available at the back for outdoor seating in the summer months. The Cafe also serves a range of cooked breakfasts and lunches or hot sandwiches, some deserts, milkshakes, hot and cold drinks.
