A recommended place and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. We went for brunch. A good menu, and the food when it arrived was also good. Good service. So good all round!

A huge disappointment was our favourite in Hythe with food to a high standard. A disaster today with one meal sent back because the food was cold and not defrosted properly, a sandwich which was so spicy I couldn't taste the contents and 2 very mediocre plates of food. Didn't bother to complain as we won't be going back after two years of good service and quality. Also the place was empty!

How dissapointing! In a barely occupied place we had to ask for someone to take our order after 20mins and we had to pay up front even though we were inside and 40mins later food arrived by surly face fed up staff ., My sisters was toasted sandwich you cannot get wrong ,but my Cuban beef taco was inedible with way too much salt and greasy and i asked for salt and pepper as often find seasoned but always taste first . This place needs to change the staff and chef . Never again !!!

Came here last week and really enjoyed it, came again today and was so disappointed. Finished our lunch then was left with our dirty plates left on our table for so long to the point where we had to take our plates up to the counter as we was not getting paid any attention to. We had also asked for cake when we ordered our lunch which was also clearly forgotten about, we had to leave so had to go up and ask to get the cake for take away as we was fed up and just wanted to leave, £48 bill for 3 sandwiches, 2 coffees and 1 hot chocolate with 3 slices of cake. Ridiculous prices could get a takeaway for that. Staff are too busy chatting away to eachother and ignoring customers blatantly, either get new staff who are competent or face customers not returning, sick of places ripping people off and giving crap customer service in return. Avoid this place until it sorts its staff out. Shocking

Went on Sunday and requested a fried egg on a piece of brown bread with smoked salmon. Granted this was a variation of the menu but the young girl with blonde hair who took our order was happy to help. Checked the bill when got home as it was a birthday brunch for a friend and was horrified to see - one fried egg - £3.50 and one piece of supermarket brown bread not even sourdough - £2.50 and the smoked salmon was £3.50 ( this was ok). Shocking - will never go there again.

First time to Loaf. It was a fairly busy Sunday lunchtime but there was a table free in this spacious restaurant. There were specials on a board and a table menu (from which I chose). I order the Welsh Rarebit and a tea. The tea was really good, just how I like it and a generous mugful. Unfortunately the 'welsh rarebit' was terrible which was a shame. The bread was lovely, the vine tomatoes cooked beautifully and sweet but the topping on the bread was in no way a Welsh Rarebit. In taste and appearance it was unrecognisable as one! A red gloopy mixture with bits of grated cheese in it (probably from a bag as all the same size) that had no specific taste and hadn't been near a grill or even oven To be honest it looked like the contents of a baby food jar! My partner's food however was fine as was the other diner's food from the look of it. Maybe an off day or someone in the kitchen who didn't know what a welsh rarebit was. I will go again but won't order this and would advise anyone else not to as you will be severely disappointed.

Nicely set out inside, not all crammed in. Asked for the smoked salmon but instead of a bagel could I have a slice of sourdough. I didn’t want the bagel and the sourdough, just a straight swap. They said it’d be £1 extra. I questioned this and was assured that was correct, so we left.

Not happy! Just left here. Was served and paid upfront. Went for gluten free toast ( 2 slices ) with scrambled egg and smoked salmon. It came over, the egg was cold and the salad had a sauce on. Being gluten intolerant i was just going to avoid the salad as the lady who served us put the plate down and walked off before i could ask any questions. Anyway, just started eating and noticed a hair . I went to the front desk the lady took my plate and said sorry. Came back and told me their balsamic sauce didn’t contain gluten. So that’s fine , but anyway they made me a new lunch because of the hair in my food. The lady came over with my lunch re made , put the plate in front of me and again run off quickly. No salt, no pepper, and again no one to ask. This time i was only given one slice of toast, so half the amount of egg, half the amount of salmon, so £9 for one slice of toast is disgusting. Giving half the amount of food after finding a hair in my food is wrong. I had only previously eaten not even half the slice of toast on my first plate. The girl seemed a bit moody with me, we got up and left, the other lady looked at me leave and never said sorry, thank you, or was everything okay in the end. I left fuming and still hungry to be honest!

Had lunch here after a walk from Hythe to Sandgate, my wife and I went in on the off chance on a really warm sunny Sunday in April so everyone was out and about, the café was extremely busy, we were told we could have a table in about an hour so we agreed and went for a walk, we went back before the hour and were shown to a table. The food was great and very imaginative, I had a smoked duck panini with a salad garnish, it was excellent. The prices were very reasonable, sandwiches for about a fiver and baguettes & panini were about £7. Coffee was very good too. The service was a bit slow but I think the unseasonably warm weather caught them out a bit but we weren’t put off by this, it can’t be easy guessing the British weather in early April! There was a smart restaurant about 50 yards up the road which was empty so Loaf must be doing something right! All in all a very good lunch at a very reasonable cost, would definitely recommend.

we've popped in here a few times, after or halfway to during our walks along the seafront, they make a great cup of tea and coffee, have thought to have a meal there sometime but their service is so so slow, the first time they were busy but must have been 20 minutes before someone came and took our order, but both the other time it was very quiet in there but service was no faster, think we will try one of the other places in Sangate next time, sorry

This place was found after walking from Folkestone to Sandgate on the sea front wall, it a lovely coffee shop with a great selection food, the only thing that would make it a 5* if a child option for food maybe a little snack like plate ( grapes, cucumber and bread) as not much of a selection for them.

Really don't understand why this place gets such good reviews. My welsh rarebit was dreadful overwhelmed with mustard and Worcestershire sauce so you couldn't tell there was cheese in it. Children asked for cheese sandwiches which came with slightly stale bread and they barely touched - yet charged the price of a full toasty.

Loaf is such a cute little cafe in the heart of Sandgate. My sister-in-law was visiting my son and I, so we decided to go for lunch. Loft has a range of food, made fresh and plenty of quirky decor to spark a conversation. A must see in Sandgate

This lovely cafe/restaurant serves breakfast and lunch dishes as well as cakes and snacks. It has a relaxed vibe with daily papers and books to while away the time if wanted. The menu has a wide range of delicious dishes. I especially enjoy the hot lunch dishes and the sandwiches which are a cut above the ordinary. It’s a lovely walk along the seafront from Hythe or Folkestone and on a fun high street with many interesting shops to look at.

Quirky food, daily specials and regular. Needs more normal choices for kids or should I say common choices for kids. Love the staff as always friendly. Avoid at lunch as can be a right Saga.

I have been to this cafe 3 times over two weekends when I visited because I loved it so much! I can highly recommend the Goats Cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke salad! It was huge. Delicious coffee and cakes. Perfect cafe by the sea!

Yum yum yum - a great cafe just on the high street, a minute from the sea. Lovely homemade lemonade and watermelon drinks - beetroot hummus with a horseradish kick and warm pitta bread . My friend had an amazing open sandwich with crispy pancetta and we also had the mackerel pate with french bread toast - well presented and tasted even better . We finished with coffee’s and shared a chocolate torte - cannot wait to come back :)

We sadly only discovered this place the day before we left New Romney. The coffee was excellent as were the cakes. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Excellent food, friendly staff, and a pleasant ambience. A good place to visit. We live in Elham and eat here regularly. Parking is limited so park up on the High Street outside the school.

We called in for drinks or a wet afternoon. As we had a dog with us, we could only sit outside but this might have been the better deal because the interior was very busy indeed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and braved the rain to serve us our drinks. Our drinks were freshly made and, as they tasted good, they were very welcome. We did have a look at the menu, on which there was a good choice, and the food we saw being served looked well-presented and smelt delicious. I have no doubt that we will be back to try the food.

A very warm welcome from staff at Lunch time. The four of us enjoyed the good choice of menu. The food was lovely, thank you. The safe space was great.
