My daughter and I spent a couple of hours in the lovely pub garden here 2 Sundays ago. Warm welcome, great service from Sue the owner and her staff, and the sandwiches were full and good value. The white wine was well chilled. We had a look inside - a cosy, olde-worlde environment that we look forward to visiting in the autumn. Thanks - we'll be back!

Just had an excellent meal here, particularly impressed by the lactose free and gluten free options. First chance to have LF and GF fish and chips in 2 1/2 years and it was delicious. Rest of the party had some great steaks and a “normal” fish. Great beers on draught, generous portions and the staff all coped with a (very) nearby lightning strike which tripped the power out for a bit! Recommend!

I don't normally write reviews but we visited here yesterday the staff were so welcoming. Particularly I believe the owner. Our dog was invited in with open arms. Asked if we wanted the fire on. Let us know about another room for the rugby. So very attentive. We had vegetable lasagne and beef roast dinner and could not fault it. We realised it was quite close to where we live and we will definitely be returning. Best food out we have had In a long time. Thank you

Now called 'The live Inn' i believe as this place has changed hands and it now offers Malaysian cuisine. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Food was OK however the curry was a little too hot for my liking ( asked for it a little warmer than the advertised mild ) Desserts are amazing. Prices a little above average and maybe a tad overpriced and trying to be gastro rather than pub food but all in all a pleasant visit.

Now seems to have changed name and known as "The Live". Meal was excellent. Well cooked and highly enjoyable. Service was generally good. Will be somewhere i will visit again. I note that previous reviews have noted it as being cold. I did not notice it as being so except if stood near the door. A log fire was burning and the temperature throughout was acceptable.

We have been meaning to visit for a while, so whilst out for a walk we decided to pop in for a bite to eat. Aren’t I glad we did. The lunch was simply amazing! Hot, fresh and quite possibly one of the best I have ever had it certainly competed with a home cooked one. I had the vegetable gratin whilst the rest of the party had pork belly which they assured me was equally as good. The creamy leeks were by far the star of the meal. Highly recommended.

Several items on the menu not available and there seemed to be no heating in the place, just holes in the roof- HUGE holes, gaps in the windows, huge gaps under the doors. We have never been so cold, everyone in the dining area was sitting in coats and gloves. At the end one of our party went to the gents. He said if he had gone there first we would never have eaten there, it was so disgusing he came out and felt sick. The dirt he said was of years and years..... revolting. I wonder when they last had a hygiene inspection!

We called the pub to ask for advice about taxis, soon after the pub landlord arrived at our nearby holiday cottage and did two trips to get us all to the pub! We had fantastic food with a great selection of wine (at very reasonable prices). Even better than that, we were welcomed like old friends and spent the night singing and dancing with the staff and locals. Rather austere and tatty pub obviously popular with the locals. A recent visit spoiled by a TV loudly screening some awful soap. The barman wanted it left on so that he could watch the football later. At the time there was only 3 in the bar and our choice was not his choice so it stayed on and we left without eating. Other comments do not seem so favourable, but check the dates as they are some 3 years old. I would recommend this pub as the food is excellent and a very reasonable price. Came with a party of walkers enjoying this scenic part of Herefordshire and then returned after a 4 mile ramble around Whitbourne Hall for a pre ordered lunch, which soon arrived. A row of nearly empty plates indicated the quality of food with just one that proved too much for one lady but was taken home to eat later. Admittedly prices were a bit above average for main meals but if we wish to keep these village Inns who employ a good chef we should patronise them to prevent them vanishing for ever as so many have now. My unusual Scotch eggs were delicious and for under a fiver went away very satisfied. The staff were also very friendly an essential part of a good Inn.

We only moved to the area in late May 2016 so as foodies we are still hunting down those little hidden gems where a warm welcome, good service, good food and value for money can be found.Well today we found one - The Live and Let Live…The 4 of us arrived for lunch. There is nothing nicer than to walk into a charming pub and find an open log fire on a winter’s day; this accompanied by a cheerful, warm friendly welcome from the landlord, in this case Richard. We were invited to have a look around the bars and restaurant area and to sit where we liked, although the restaurant was clean and bright with lovely furnishings we decided to stay in the bar by the fire. The menu written on a blackboard is small only 9 choices + steaks and a couple of specials - this is normally a sign that everything is going to be cooked fresh, (none of this 5 pages of dishes and lets dig it out of a freezer and throw it in a microwave) it is all locally sourced and seasonal. Game = Pigeon, Pheasant and Mallard. We ordered starters 1. Wild Mushrooms with garlic crème fraiche and blue cheese on brioche, 2. Roast Pigeon on Parsnip Puree with mushrooms and chocolate sauce and 2.Soup Celeriac, apple and stilton – served with fresh bread and croutons. For Mains. 2 Homemade Faggots and mash, Beer batter Haddock and Chips and a special of the Mallard with purple potato mash. All arrived on warm plates, the food being hot, cooked to perfection and delicious, 2 of my friends said the faggots were nice and spicy and the other said the battered fish was wonderful. On chatting to Richard he informed us that he and his wife Mandy had only purchased the pub 2 years ago and it was still a work in progress. We also spoke to the young trainee chef Emily ( I hope I’ve got that right) who had cooked our meals, she was full of enthusiasm for cooking and told us she was always excited to come to work. There’s a star in the makingSo all in all a fantastic find, a really enjoyable meal which was value for money, great customer service and friendly people I think that ticks all the boxes. We will return in the New Year. I think anyone reading this should pay them a visit, I don’t think you will be disappointed. They also have a garden with good views you can use that will be lovely to sit out in the warmer weather.

We had visited the small but interesting National Trust property at Brockhampton Estate nearby. There was no food available there, only snacks, so we had to find somewhere for snacks. Driving past Bringsty Common which I had often visited as a child we saw a sign saying food at a pub and took a chance. This a village pub complete with local regulars but has an excellent restaurant at the back. It was Sunday lunch time so the menu was restricted but the main menu looked very interesting. We both had the pork which you can see on the photo. It came with some expertly cooked crackling and an exceptional selection of vegetables (unlike many more expensive restaurants) including broccoli on cheese sauce, roasted parsnips and braised red cabbage. Desserts were also good; the crumble was a little sweet for my taste but others would disagree.

We were a party of four, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The menu was so enticing, it was difficult to choose, but we were all very, very happy with our choices. Each course was a hit. It was a weekday lunchtime so, very quiet - but this place really deserves to be full every day. Even though it was quiet, it was still a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter/barman was great - I think it was important to him that we were happy with our drinks and food and he created a good ambience. The chef too was not only very talented, he wanted to be sure we were happy with our food.We will definitely be back - even though it was a fairly long distance to travel for lunch, it was a first class meal, served in a first class style, and in a very, very comfortable venue. My colleague and I were on a business trip in the Milton Keynes area and we had travelled 3 hours straight from work. On arrival there seemed to only be one staff member working? We were then taken to our room which was nice, we then decided we would go straight for some food as it had been a long drive and so we needed food! we went into the pub/restaurant to be seated and were given a table as we were the only people in there. we ordered our food after being given around 10 minutes. We ordered soup of the day and baked Camembert to start and the steak and fish and chips for mains. We waited for around 45 minutes to 1 hour. The waitress then came out with our mains? At this point she then awkwardly said that they had run out of the soup of the day and baked Camembert. We also ordered onion rings and peppercorn sauce would love to comment on these however we never got to see those? The food was okay no better than your standard pub which was disappointing as the menu looked good. Overall we were very disappointed and frustrated with the service we were given to the point of laughing it was a disgrace. we as a business stay in this area a lot however this will not be somewhere we would ever stay again.

I've wanted to pop into this pub for a long time but never got round to it as we spend most of our time abroad. As soon as we walked in the few locals who were in the bar immediately engaged us in a bit of banter. Later, when we went into the restaurant to eat, we we served lovely food by the friendly landlady; and afterwards, when we were paying the bill, another group (this time, older folk), being curious about our origins, talked to us for a while and welcomed us to their local. This is the sign of a well-established, heart-of-the-community pub with great hosts. We missed the lawnmower race last Sunday as we were elsewhere but, if we lived anywhere close, I would be in this place several times a week. The only target I would suggest is to refurbish the toilet areas, but they're 'worn' not dirty. This pub is right next to the village shop, which is another community gem.

There's also a snug and a stylish little restaurant. The family who run the pub are super, and the new chef (since my last review) is a definite step up. The pies are real pies, not just meat stew with a bit of puff pastry balanced on top. The mains are excellent, and the chocolate brownie was like nothing I have ever seen before! Not sure it was a chocolate brownie, more of a gloopy, fudgy sauce, but incredibly rich and delicious.I'd recommend this pub to anyone.

There are two venues known as 'Live and Let Live' in close proximity to each other in this area. Although the 'Live and Let Live' venue located in a picturesque setting on the Bringsty Common is well known, locals would seem to prefer the 'Live and Let Live' venue in Whitbourne village. The village is located about 1/2 mile off the A44 at the junction next to the old 'Wheatsheaf' pub which has closed.Externally, this 'Live and Let Live' venue is very unassuming, but surprisingly, internally it is a very pleasant traditional English country pub with a nice restaurant. There is a fairly large car park, the staff are friendly and helpful, there is a decent menu, the service is excellent and the food is excellent pub food at sensible prices.. Worth a visit. Recommended.

To get to Live and Let Live from our accommodation at Huntlands Farm we had a short walk across a cornfield and through an orchard then it was a short hop skip and jump to this charming pub with roaring log fire and friendly locals who turned to greet us. You can choose to eat in the traditional olde inn bar but we opted for the beautifully reburbished, stylish dining room where I had a delicious and very welcome meal of hot salmon and my husband enjoyed a melt in the mouth shoulder of lamb. We even had a lift home to our B&B as the owner had chosen to eat there that evening so very kindly offered to save us the walk back!

Made to feel very welcome. All three courses were excellent, special mention for the fish dishes, beer battered haddock and the cod on red pesto mash with crayfish sauce and fennel. The sticky toffee was really moist.Totally recommend this little gem.

The starters were delicious, the steak and kidney pie was the best I've ever tasted ,and the sticky toffee pudding was fab. It was great that they let our dog in and they chucked their cat out!

Have been a few times recently. Very warm friendly atmosphere, landlords Richard and Mandy are lovely folks. Great chef, not your average pub food. All locally sourced food. Awesome Sunday lunch.Choice of bar with pool table and tv, or snug with warm fireplace, or separate dining area.

Lucky us! There's a new chef at the pub (we'd not been before) and he's doing a great job. Fabulous Sunday roast, which is very hard to get right although everyone seems to do it. Friendly service (in spite of our boisterousness) and an extra nice touch with the complimentary and delicious fudge. We're looking forward to becoming regulars.

A great pub tucked away from the Bustle. Full of character and the owners are very inviting. The food presentation is superb and the quality, sourced locally, is great with the bonus of Being well Priced.A quiet drink with a friend, a group occassion in the restaurant - its just a lovely place to go with an open fire for winter and beer garden with views for when the sun is out. Will take family and friends there again and again as im sure the experience Will always be good:)

We chose the 'Live & Let Live' as a suitable rendezvous for friends from Shropshire and the five of us enjoyed a really great lunch. The pub is being progressively renovated and although there are still some areas that need attention (the loos) the whole place is cosy and welcoming and run by a couple who really care. One can eat in the bar, saloon or a dedicated restaurant room - we opted for the latter and were treated to a very high level of pub cuisine. The menu offers plenty of choice as there is often a joint on offer on Sundays. The food is served on proper plates or in bowls (Hooray! No pieces of slate, bits of wood or any other such nonsense!) and, despite being busy, arrived promptly. There is a concise, well-chosen wine list and prices are reasonable, otherwise well kept cask beers are available. I liked the log fires, snug atmosphere, service and attention to detail, I was less enamoured with the large TV in part of the bar but appreciate this is essential in many rural pubs these days - it is, however, easily avoided! All in all, a great venue and one which deserves support - we shall be going again.

We are relativity new to the area (Since Dec 2015) and this Whitbourne Inn is a must place to visit, eat & drink.Consistency for atmosphere, a warm welcome and a laugh with the locals with an all-round quality time spent in this place is what we have experienced at every visit. Well, well done to this family run business.

Wow. How do they get away with it? Poorly organised little pub. Eventually got a table nearly an hour after we'd booked. Little in the way of an apology, had to ask for a bread roll to stave off the hunger...got given one small roll; there was seven of us!Food was OK once it had arrived (still took quite a while) but what really got me was the reaction once I'd suggested that something knocked off the bill might be appropriate... to my amazement they seemed a little shocked that I'd dared to ask. They eventually knocked of one child's meal which equated to about 7 or 8% of the total bill. Seriously avoid this place. They have so much to learn.

I and five friends met for lunch yesterday. The service was first class, the food was delicious and arrived quickly. Knowing what a wreck this pub was before the current owners took over I was amazed at what a fantastic job they have done in turning it into a lovely, welcoming place with delightful décor. Would highly recommend for lunch, a drink or supper. A true gem.

Me and my wife enjoyed the steak at the live last week. It Was excellently cooked. Staff are friendly, we had been chatting to the chef before deciding to eat. The pub is what you would imagine from a English country pub, nicely set out with separate bar, lounge and restaurant, and an open fire. HPA in tap is a superb, and gets better the more you have. I would recommend this whether for a few relaxing drinks or a nice meal out. Will visit again! Often

We had a meal for my parents in law's 50th wedding anniversary. The staff couldn't do enough to make the night special. They decorated the table including lots of balloons. The meal was fantastic with a great choice of locally sourced foods. Good selection of wine and ales. Highly recommended.

My wife and I were working in London and were on our way back to the Shire. We were tired and hungry and had much admired this beautiful little pub in the past, however we had never eaten there. On arrival we were left to sit at the table unattended by the staff and didn't know whether we were to order at the bar or wait for a waiter, although she walked passed us several times. When we finally ordered and our food arrived, we were slightly disappointed with the packaged sliced bread given to us with the pate. Little did we know this was as good as it gets. Any chef that gives packaged sliced bread these days is plainly a cook and not a chef. END OF, I REST MY CASE! In my book if you choose to eat out at any establishment , the food should be at least as good as you expect at home . This , plainly was not . On arrival of the main course, the food frankly was inedible. My wife's steak was so fatty that she couldn't eat it and the quality was appalling and mine wasn't much better. As we live in Herefordshire we are accustomed to eating quality beef. It is such a shame as this could be such a lovely pub.

Me and my family went here whilst on holiday. The pub was very friendly and hospitable. We all had food in the restaurant and it was fantastic. It was all freshly cooked and served quickly even though we were a group of seven. The restaurant was very clean and tidy and homely. The food was all served on hot plates and was hot and tasty. The menu obviously changes regularly and even came with a list to say how locally sourced the food was. Would strongle advise anyone in the area to try this local pub.

This used to be our favorite pub & restaurant when we lived in the village, and we were dismayed when it closed. Well, after a year at the helm Richard has breathed new life back into the place, with excellent local ales, and great food locally sourced. We ate there a few weeks ago, on one of those autumn days when you could sit outside and, apart from the wasp, had a great experience.Visiting again last week we noted the menu had been refreshed, with an excellent choice of warming meals. So, well done Richard & team. Heartily recommended.

I booked this restaurant on recommendation and found the owner and his family to be super helpful on the phone. On the night we arrived, a certain rugby match was on but that added to the atmosphere! After meeting the chef and taking his recommendations for what to choose (from an excellent menu) we did not have to wait long for our orders to arrive. Everything was beautifully cooked and served. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and would highly recommend this restaurant

The Live is a really nice family pub, part of the village, and run by the owner and his family who live on the premises. It has a very welcoming atmosphere, with locals propping up the bar (and quite often tractors parked outside), and a small and quite stylish pub restaurant to one side. Mains are £10 - £12, a step up from standard pub food, and usually very good indeed - though sometimes let down by the vegetables, often just peas and rather overcooked whole carrots. That's why this is only 'very good', not 'excellent'. Oh, and service can be a little haphazard, but always extremely good humoured!I would definitely go again.

We had a wonderful meal in the Restaurant for a family birthday treat. The menu continues to develop and entice, whilst retaining its strong country influence. We had a delicious starter of scallops and black pudding followed by mains including fresh haddock and the guinea fowl. The portions are excellent value for money. The food is absolutely delicious and you know you are eating in a restaurant. This food is not what one would refer to as 'pub grub'!Looking forward to visiting again and trying something new from the menu!A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We have visited the pub for food a few times now since the new owners took over last year, both with groups of friends and as a couple. We can honestly say the food has been excellent and we have throughly enjoyed every meal we've had. There is a great choice of traditional pub food, good beer, and a welcoming atmosphere, and all reasonably priced. The pub has changed hands a few times over the last few years, but the new owners have really made this village pub into something special - well worth a visit.

Myself, my husband and two children went for Sunday lunch to The Live and Let LIve a couple of weeks ago. Whenever we go to a pub for Sunday roast, I always expect a rather non-descript meal that "does what it says on the tin". I am happy to report that The Live and Let Live served up a delicious roast beef with perfectly cooked vegetables and even the kids polished off the lot! The home made desserts were delicious, too. I had the lemon cheesecake and everyone else opted for the sticky toffee pudding.

We visit the Live and Let Live in Whitbourne on a regular basis with our young son. There is always a friendly welcome and nothing is too much of a problem. The food is delicious and a good traditional English menu. It is great to have the Live open again in the village and the owners have done a lovely job of doing it up. I would highly recommend it.

My family and I visited the Live and Let Live in Whitborne a few weeks ago for Sunday lunch. We were surprised there was a BBQ also taking place at lunch which perhaps could be one of the reasons why our food was cold, tasteless and slow to arrive. We were also utterly shocked about how the chef conducted himself in an extremely unprofessional, inappropriate and offensive manner, drinking and smoking on the job and flirting with a woman who thought she was the landlady the way she was prancing around. Very embarrassing. It was apparent her daughter worked there too. Needless to say my family and I will not be returning. If the pub had any sense they would be keeping the chef firmly out of view as you do not wish to see such vulgarness whilst eating.

We were staying on the Malvern View Country and Leisure Park for a weekend stay which we could not fault. However, we dined at The Old Barnhouse on the Saturday evening and unfortunately the food was terrible. We waited for nearly an hour and when the food arrived it was half cold. My mother and father had scampi and chips, no peas and they were out of tartare sauce! My sister and I had the New Yorker chicken which consisted of a huge portion of coleslaw that wasn’t very nice and the chicken was small and if poor quality. My daughter had a kids pizza, chips and beans which was just about acceptable. The five meals and a round of drinks came to over £80 which was appalling for the quality of the food. Avoid The Old Barnhouse for food! Pleasant enough for a drink.

Rude, extremely disappointing, shocking and disrespectful staff! We arrived after making a booking the day before. I booked 2 Adults, 1 child aged 2. The booking itself was pleasant. We got slightly lost, rang in and again very pleasant. Arrived 7 minutes late and walked into a very ‘local’ pub feel. All eyes on us. We were told by the bar person that they were glad we found them. A woman appeared and looked at my Grandson and commented ‘we don’t have highchairs’ I commented that I’d booked ahead with a child on the booking? She said she would go down in the cellar and dust something suitable to bring up then asked me if I had a chair in my car???!!!! We approached the bar and I said I was confused as I’d booked a child ahead of coming. I was ignored, I said once again and the younger woman behind the bar looked at me and in a slightly raised voice utttered ‘well, yes she’s gone to get you something hasn’t she!!’ Based on this experience I told my Friend we were leaving as being treated like this was way beyond acceptable. I wasn’t happy and I let it be known! My Friend and I were left shocked and felt we had been treated appallingly by 2 extremely rude women. Whilst we were putting my Grandson in the car the older women came out and further patronised us with her offering of a dusted off cellar chair and we told her that her colleague was vile and it had gone beyond the chair. She walked off. Having read through the reviews I can see hands have changed and so this may be why I didn’t receive the reputation I had heard of. I have the feeling they felt they were above us! I’m not easily impressed so their Morgan cars and gold large Baroque chairs only further deepens my suspicions that they think they’re better 🤣🤣
