Lovely breakfast table ready when we walked in. Lovely food and choice also reasonably priced Visit made extra special by waitress who was on duty Sunday 7th July. She was patient with the active children friendly and pleasant. I did not have chance to thank her when we left. Please do so on our behalf

We had a lovely lunch here in the pub part of the hotel. The portions were massive and everything we ate was fresh and tasty. The decor is beautiful and the cutlery etc of good quality. The waitress was very efficient and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

The room was genuinely sweltering, not a place to stay in the summer for sure, my partner's hair wax melted into liquid overnight. The annex where we stayed was beautiful, really well decorated, but we also noticed it had the capacity for air conditioning based on the units outside the building but there was none in the rooms. The Bulgarian lady who served us at breakfast was genuinely lovely, and really helpful, however was the only person on staff and seemed swept off her feet, bless her! Breakfast was also tasty. We had to wait in the lobby for 10 minutes before the concierge came to us for check in, and I was a little disappointed in the service the next morning too. We were trying to find breakfast forever, wandering around for about 10 mins trying to find a member of staff. There are 3 eating areas in the venue, and finding breakfast without a single member of staff available was difficult. Maybe signposting more clearly would be more effective? It's also £3.50 for 1/2 a pint of coke which is ridiculous, so if you're wanting a drink, doing it elsewhere is advised unless you want to spend a pretty penny. Overall, the place was lovely but not very customer friendly, and seemed to be running a very expensive skeleton crew. Probably would look at other

We had a meal here on the Friday night of the May Bank Holiday Weekend. They gave us a lovely, reserved area for sixteen people. The staff were great and the food was amazing. Could not fault them one bit. Would highly recommend.

A great place to stay and friendly staff helped host a great family birthday celebration meal and stay. The rooms are spotlessly clean with housekeeping absolutely on the ball at all times. There are options for dog friendly rooms too. All the staff go above and beyond to accommodate guests requests and requirements. Always attentive and on hand. Booking arrangements for a large party were efficiently managed. The food is excellent. Good choice and interesting Italian styled dishes. All were delicious and served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. Breakfast very good and efficiently managed. Highly recommend a stay or visit here

After hearing rave reviews we decide to pay a visit. To prove your fitness to drink you have to first climb up the nine stone steps. On entering i was expecting something more opulent. The decor was nice and i can see the attraction. Being a lager drinker i looked for the premier lagers, i.e Morreti, SanMigel, Stelle etc . Sadly, i was faced with a choice of PALANGA, FREEDON FOUR, LAGUNITAS DAYTIME and KRUSOVICE PILSNERS. I chose the Freedom. It was not for me, very tangy and flat, maybe because i'm not a craft lager person. Wont be coming back. On the positive side, the staff were smartly dressed and very polite.

Having paid the bill, and happy to share a few words of advice with the manager - Ryan - the establishment did not have the good grace to devote a few seconds to hear why we had left most of our meals untouched.

Decor tasteful but lack of soft furnishings made it a bit noisy. Waiting on staff lovely but service slow. Ladies toilet out of order and journey back from disabled tricky as large place with lots of doors and corridors. Starters very small. Main meal - lasagna- tasty but that was all you got- lasagna and a table spoon size pile of rocket. Tiramisu looked and tasted lovely. Food expensive for what you got. Drinks pricey. Mistake on bill - additional started not had, but rectified with no quibble. Will not return by own choice as plenty of other good restaurants in Congleton at better prices.

Our first visit to the newly revamped Lion and Swan. We hadn’t booked but were warmly welcomed and offered a tour around by a lovely gentleman on reception. The place has a lovely vibe and was virtually full on a wet Wednesday evening. Our waitress Felicity was charming and the food was delicious: we had the Sicilian sharing platter, meat and a cheese pizzas, tiramisu and an affogato. Nice wine and cocktail choices.The only disappointment was the Americano coffee I ordered after the meal. A huge breakfast cup of hot weak brown water was served - not really the strong Italian coffee with a lovely crema on top that I was expecting. Please pop round to the Italian deli on Bridge street to see the size and taste of a proper Italian coffee.

We visited recently after the refurb, it looks incredible and the food was even better. Great selection of Italian food in Leones with personal favourites being the carbonara and Quattro Carni pizza. Heading back soon!

Had a fantastic dinner in Leone Italian restaurant. The restaurant itself is stunning, situated inside the newly refurbished Lion and Swan. From start to finish the food and service was fantastic. Can’t wait to return.

What a place! Amazing, if someone has been in lion and swan last year, please don't think this is the same place! What a transformation! Decor crisp and modern, staff friendly and the food was amazing!The place is nicely split between bar and dining, food menu is short and easy to choose from as everything sounds yum! service is brilliant, food arrived real quick and it was spot onCoctails were delicious! Food first class :)They mentioned that they working on their outdoor space with balcony and terrace. I cannot wait to see this!Booking easy over the website, definitely worth visiting!Ice cream to die for!

We visited the Lion and Swan for a meal this week and can highly recommend it. It is currently being renovated by the new owners and the building is looking fabulous. The food was delicious- every member of our party really enjoyed every course. Staff were friendly, professional and attentive and could not do enough for us. We will definitely be visiting again!

We went for Sunday Lunch after hearing on the grapevine it was worth a visit ! Unfortunately What a disappointment it was.Where to start ? We tried to book a table the day before and were told it wasn't nessary and when asked what the menu would be the answer was a little sketchy ie; not sure what the roast joints were going to be and pretty much just guessed. However not one to be put off three of us arrived at around 12-15 only to see the place was empty with the exception of one person in the restaurant there was not much of a greeting as the young girl behind the bar was still stocking up or something ? we asked for menus and were told they were on the tables, so we went ahead and ordered a bottle of wine to be served to the table, we took our seats and glasses and wine arrived but the glasses were rinse streaked and had lipstick on them we immediately asked for them to be changed to the girls surprise the menu was meagre with a choice of just two starters of soup or pate, mains Roast Beef or Ham, a pulled pork baguette and a veggie option. We ordered our meals mains only, 3 Beef, the meat looked processed and cut on a slicing machine so no great skill needed but to be fair the veg was fresh, but all three meals were cold which we sent back straight away they were not not much hotter when returned either needless to say we didn't order anything else. At no time did the manager/supervisor apologise or even ask if the second meals were suitable. We will certainly not be back. It's a great shame that one of the towns Hotels has been left to drop to such a very low standard.

Popped in on a whim with my partner. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The food. Well what can I say. They have a new chef who can only be described as a miracle worker. I had a beef brochette. The meat was amazing. So full of flavour. My partner had the special fish of the day. Seabass with Jake and a lemon cream sauce. Equally as tasty. We will most defiantly be coming back and bringing friends.

We visited but only required drinks - the food on offer sounded good. The inn exudes charm and is very historic . Worth a visit - they have accommodation too.

Cannot say a bad word about this place! All staff I met are outstanding and nothing is too much to ask! From being served my breakfast by Kerry who was a lovely lady and very accommodating to Rob the Assistant Manager who was on in the afternoon who is very professional and well mannered! I was absolutely gobsmacked when I found out he was the assistant manager at 18 years old! He does this job so well and then some! After having a couple of pints at the bar I got talking to Gareth the handyman who had just finished his shift and what a laugh he was! I was just about to head to bed when Matt the manager and Tommy the bar manager (I think) came down and sang and played theirs guitars! How fantastic! I cannot recommend this place enough! Rooms are clean and lovely! Waterbed is amazing! All in all 20/10 well done guys! See you very soon!

Came for a break with my partner to see family in the area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and cooked perfectly. Room was clean. Spoke with the bar manager Tommy for some time. Nice that he made the time to make us feel welcome. We will most defiantly be back.

Your sure of a nice warm welcome here at the lion and swan. The place is lovely the food is fantastic. I came a few years ago as a guest and left as a good friend. Thanks to rob the chef and Kerry and front of house for a lovely time once again

We have just stayed here for 2 nights for my friends wedding and I can't fault the hotel. We had a meal in the restaurant on the Friday and the food was great and the service was brilliant. We even had a bit of a ghost tour, the staff definitely went the extra mile! The breakfast on Sunday was quick and tasty with a good selection and the rooms were clean and comfortable with all the amenities that you need.Generally would recommend this for anyone staying in the area.

I do not even know where to start with this hotel let’s start with the rooms first. Dated, old, dirty, smell like cigarettes, bed sheets were not clean I found hairs in them. Mould in the bathroom the bin had rubbish in from the last people that stayed. The food well I’m glad I did not have a meal at night as the breakfast the next morning was terrible I don’t even no why I had it looking at how dirty the room was should say it all about the kitchen. The worst part about the whole visit to the hotel was the staff they are so rude they did not seem bothered that there was people staying in the hotel they were all gathering around reception and the bar drinking there was two members of staff so drunk at the bar that they were just swearing at each other one was called Gary or Gareth the other could of been the boss sure I saw him earlier that day. I will never stay here again I could of got past the food issue but the staff just completely spoil the hotel. So unprofessional a hotel of this age should be being run with passion not drunks and teenagers.

We came here for a meal last week. And I was very shocked and saddened to hear staff standing around talking and swearing. A tall lad could be heard talking about his rather intermit night he’d had. The language was some what blue!! The food was lovely. Service was shocking! I won’t be returning with my children. Shame as I wanted to book a birthday party.

I have stayed here before but never have I been so horrified by how dirty my room was and how rude the staff were. All the staff were sat at the bar drinking on shift swearing at each other no wonder I was the only person staying in the building. I was the only person staying but was put in a room right over the other end of the building in a tired old room that was freezing. The breakfast was not even worth getting out of bed for it was horrendous covered in grease the egg had shell in it the staff sat with there feet up on the counter. I will not be staying here again it’s a shame as I live abroad and visit my son a lot who lives in Congleton.

Cracking place.stayed Saturday night just on a whim. Little get away time. Staff were so friendly and the food was amazing. I had the duck off the new menu. Reaĺly cat praise it highly enough. Bed was comfy and the room was lovely and clean. Defiantly be back. Thank you.

Stayed here for a birthday celebration. Staff very friendly and organised, stayed in the main hotel area. Lot bigger than you imagine inside, lovely big room well equipped, a very good sized celebration room that they hire out and accomodating bar so you dont have to go to the main public area, good food and good breakfast cooked to your requirements.

Not been before.. greeted and served by Rob who was lovely and polite to begin with and after the comosion whilst we were eating he was again very good...food was wonderful..2 lovely roast dinners probably the best in the area!! However this restaurant seriously let down by staff congregated, drinking and swearing in the restaurant.. and sadly distracting the very good staff that was serving and drawing them in too...such a shame you find great food and their own staff spoil it for all.

Myself and my brother and sister in law have just spent 3 nights at the hotel the staff were amazing very helpful and cheerful.Breakfast was freshly cooked to order during week days and buffet style at weekends food is of a high standard and is plentiful. We also ate an evening meal again no complaints. I can recommend the hotel if you are wanting a comfortable clean room and lovely supportive staff.

Arrived on Saturday for a wedding. Welcomed by the manager Pete, shown to our room which was perfect. Came down for the wedding and the whole hotel team were friendly and on tune with each other, this is where the star of the day came in. Emily had organised the wedding and she did it with utter elegance. There wasn't a single thing she didn't sort with a smile. The food was amazing, the evening bar staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will certainly be back. 5 stars lion and swan team

Asked for John Smiths and was given 3 tasters of real ale by the bar manager (Brian) and opted for the local brew (made by a friend of his) Shaman. Food was amazing, rib eye cooked to perfection and Hunters chicken looked fantastic.Prices for food were good considering the size of the portions and the ale was ONLY £2.50 for a pint!!!!!Service was on point.

Stayed here 3 times now for business. Price is fair and people friendly. First time eating there last night and I have to say it was the best steak and chips I have had. Dont usually gush about anything but proper homemade chips and a 10oz Sirloin with mushrooms and onions and tomato was lovely and the steak cooked perfect (medium). Def worth a visit for the grub!

I stay here often as I love it so much. The staff are lovely so helpful they go out of there way to help with any thing you need. Breakfast was lovely to! Rooms are just in the process of being decorated so looks very fresh to.

Loved this wee place... Me & my partner stayed here for 3 nights visiting my Father & family... A big thanks to Brian who kept us entertained at night.. Awesome! Food was amazing. Had the fry twice & Hash browns were unbelievable! Went for dinner also for a night & my lamb was cooked to perfection . . Others opted on burgers etc. No complaints at all. Thank you for a lovely visit. Will be back.. Just don't bring me back to a haunted room lol x
