I visit this cafe regular with residents I look after at the dementia home I work in. They are always so friendly and helping in any way they can to give our residents the best service when there. If I ever want to go all i need to do it ring and reserve a couple of seats on the ground floor. Fantastic place with fantastic staff

Not a nice experience, have been coming here for years, firstly there was nowhere to sit indoors (this was not the issue) so we asked to sit outside, there were no outside facilities which was fine (as it had been raining earlier so was understandable) but the young man who was working just plonked an old wooden table in the middle and said "there, you will have to get your own chairs" not very welcoming. The table was wonky so we asked if we could move it, he moved it (under duress) but not very well then stormed off and shut the door on us. The young man was very rude throughout our stay and he definitely needs to learn some people skills!! Is he aware he is working in a hospitality environment and needs to be polite to customers, we were very polite to him regardless. Won't be going again sorry!

I’ve been to Lindley’s Cafe on 2 other occasions 1st time my husband & I had an all day breakfast which was very nice. On the 2nd occasion my cousin and I decided to go as I recommended it for a coffee and cake when my husband was in hospital. Today, we travelled from Brighouse to go there specifically. What a big, big mistake we made. My husband ordered, scrambled egg on toast with a very small piece of salmon. I ordered the Welsh rarebit, & added the ham & mushrooms as extras. The drinks were both OK, although the pot of tea didn’t come with hot water, as is usual with a pot of tea in any cafe. Our meals arrived with not even a smile, just mind it’s hot, no niceties. The ham was on top of the so called Welsh rarebit, then a pile of black slimy mushrooms on top. When I tried to eat it, the bread was soggy & NOT fully toasted only one side, the mushrooms did not taste good at all. I asked my husband to try one to see what he thought, he also thought they tasted bad as well. I told the waitress I couldn’t eat the mushrooms they didn’t taste right, so she took the plate back downstairs. My meal was returned with just the ham on top, again I was told it was hot. When I tried to cut it I could see the bread was so soggy underneath & was absolutely disgusting, it was obvious the mushrooms had been removed and the remainder re-heated in the microwave. I called the waitress over & said I’m sorry but I just can’t eat this & I don’t intend to pay for it, she apologised. She looked very uncomfortable & asked if I would say that & tell (her)? when you go down. So I politely told (her)? I’m sorry I won’t pay for mine as I didn’t eat any of it. She said fine, took my husbands money then once she got payment told us ‘and don’t bother coming back, because if you do you won’t be served’, as if we would want to! She completely lost it, shouting at us, & saying ‘we were ripping small businesses off’. How this woman has stayed in business so long is a miracle. A lot of things are bad now after Covid, but this place has gone really down hill, it looks grubby & the storage heater near our table had food or drink splashes, & not clean. It was very cold & a family on the next table left as the lady said she was too cold. If you go there, you’ll be OK as long as you don’t complain, but watch out if you do lol. I said to my husband, ‘perhaps it’s under different management’ as it used to be nice & really not good now. That wasn’t actually the end of the story though. As we left & crossed the road to the car park, the woman ran out and started either videoing or photographing us. Goodness knows why, very strange woman. I decided to look at some reviews & it does appear the women told another customer the very same. Not to come back. News flash, don’t worry there’s … NO CHANCE!!!

Visited here for lunch yesterday with my granddaughter. Very friendly staff, menu had lots to choose from and the food was absolutely delicious! The home made cakes were gorgeous too. I had the veggie board (like a Greek meze) and granddaughter had the fish bowl (poached salmon, smoked salmon and prawns with salad). We both enjoyed our meals very much and I will definitely return and recommend this excellent cafe. Prices very reasonable too.

Frequent visitor to Lindley’s and I can assure you that the staff are very warm and welcoming, the food is divine and the coffee is incredible. Tried many different meals here and never had a bad one. It’s a lovely oldy-worldy atmosphere and supports a local business. Highly recommend to anybody!

Had lunch here with family today and the owners attitude is absolutely disgusting, calling us liars, miserable & professional complainers, all because we found a questionable item on a family members plate, when shown to the waitress we was told the meal would be deducted, when we went to pay we was told we had to pay for what had been eaten off the plate, the owner actually said to us that we could of put something on the plate, even when the waitress confirmed there had been something on the plate, the owner still insisted she was correct. Would recommend others to avoid we certainly won’t be going back.

My girlfriend and I went to Lindley’s for lunch at about 1pm. We ordered a coffee from downstairs then were told to find somewhere to sit upstairs and we’d have our coffees brought up and orders taken from the table. I had a soya milk caramel latté and my gf had a ‘normal’ caramel latté. Both looked and tasted really good! For food we ordered the hot beef and onion sandwich and a gluten free mozzarella and pesto chicken toastie. Both didn’t take long to arrive and were hot and nicely presented (see pics!) Our only criticism is that we both don’t really eat side salad (I really don’t like onions so once they’re on everything else is off limits) and think an option to have crisps and coleslaw or something as a side would be a nice addition. My gf said her hot beef sarnie was great and my toastie had loads of delicious filling so 10/10 for that.

Popped in while waiting for my wife to get her hair done. Not from the area so had a little walk up the high street and decided to use Lindley’s for my coffee and sandwich. I always try to use independent coffee shops rather than chains. I was not disappointed will certainly use again when in the area.

My friend and I visited Lindley's Cafe today hoping to enjoy lunch. We both ordered the salmon and crab fish cakes with garnish plus a coffee each. The serving staff were fine. We each had two 'fish cakes'. They consisted of very little salmon and the bits, we could actually see were miniscule. They were in the main potato. Of crab there was no sign.Added to this they were basically tasteless. I actually cut up one of my fish cakes to see how much fish was in there. When we asked for the bill we mentioned to the waitress our disappointment. She asked us to see the chef and pay on the way out. We were greeted with so much verbal abuse from the chef it was quite unbelievable. She certainly needs to go on an anger management course. There was a couple sat at a table near to us at this time. She was shouting at us, informing us of her food source of which we were not complaining. From reading previous reviews we are not the first to suffer this verbal abuse. We will never visit again.

A fairly regular haunt to be honest. Very friendly staff, great food and well priced. Decent amount of seating upstairs and a nice takeaway menu as well. Great coffee (beans sourced from a local Huddersfield company). Great sandwiches and salads. Ploughman’s and mezze boards are great as well as Brie and grape sandwich. Takeaway favourites are chicken and avocado and chicken tikka with mango chutney, it’s quite clear fresh produce such as superb freshly cooked chicken breast are used.

No albahaca fresca.

we were in lindley for a hairdresser visit, the weather was awful. we decided to have lunch while the weather [hopefully] improved. we took the two easy chairs by the window in the warm + dry. hubby chose soup of the day, which was butternut + sweet potato, served with a generous helping of french bread. i chose a bacon/brie+onion chutney panini with salad. we had a coffee+ tea respectively for our drinks. hubby loved the soup, he finished it along with all the bread, my panini was well filled and the onion chutney went well with the bacon + brie, as did the salad. just over £12 for both of us, good value. as we left the staff said goodbye + thanks. the rain had baited a little for us to walk to the bus stop.

Upon entering the cafe we were rudely told they were no tables when a man offered us his table , we thought the lady was just stressed due to how busy the cafe was. We ordered our drinks which were very nice. Then for the member of staff to have a disagreement with another customer which soon turned into quite an aggressive argument as our table was next to the counter i quickly had to usher my children out of the cafe as it was distressing and as it looked like the staff had no intention of defusing the situation unfortunately we had to leave . The memeber of staff who the lady had an issue with continued to make remarks to the lady only making her more upset and sparking off the situation again. This is such a shame as we did think the food looked lovely and would have returned.

I have been twice in one week to this cafe. The first time I had a brie, bacon and cranberry toasted baguette which was very good on all criteria. The next time I was early enough for the Full English ,so had it. It was nice to have the poached egg as an option. You get tea or coffee in on the deal. The toast was served in a rack which was a first for me in the Huddersfield are a and a nice touch . The weakness in the Breakfast was,I feel, the sausage. A very basic one with little flavour. I don't know who supply's it but as I visited the butchers next door I was surprised to find out it wasn't them. It maybe from another local butcher, in which case a change is called for. The cafe is a little disjointed by being on two floors in three rooms. That can't be helped on account of the building. It can however lead to varying service. Difficult for the girls to know what is going on. Also the ambience can be very quiet when not busy. A bit of light music or radio might help although a licence would be required. Two other suggestions . Get rid of the polka dot table coverings. Vintage or retro they might be but can be sticky and make the cafe look a bit like a transport one. Finally newly printed menus would be good . The current ones are a bit ancient. And each table should have one rather than have to wait for it to brought to you. I certainly will visit again as the Food is generally good and well priced and will be interested to see if any of my suggestions come to fruition. That is ,of course ,if the management keep an eye on this site.

I was shopping on Lindley high street and decided to have a coffee. That soon became with scone for me cake for wife. Just lovely and welcoming. If you want to chill this is the place. Lindley is full of surprises. Good butchers and bakery. Lots of hair dressers and pampering places. Then, for its size lots of good eating places. When you are chilled look at Lindley clock tower. Built by the mill owner to make sure the work force know the time and get to work. A few times a year in the summer the building is opened so you come walk the tight steps up the tower. Don't worry the hospital is 5 minutes away in case it's too much for you.

We were seated quickly in a pleasant room. After a shortish wait we ordered 2 sandwiches, a portion of chips and 2 coffees. After a long wait the coffee arrived but was only lukewarm, I asked for another one that was hotter but the waitress seemed confused, eventually we got replacements which were slightly warmer but I didn't want to risk complaining twice ... The food was delicious but the chips were plonked down with no offer of vinegar or sauces, not even salt. After rugby tackling a passing waitress we asked for vinegar which was deposited on the table but with no comment or question about whether there was anything else we wanted. At no point did anyone ever come back to the table to ask if everything was alright or did we want anything else, which considering it is table service and not cheap, I would expect. We are still here wondering how on earth we pay as we have been finished for at least 15 minutes and are still being studiously ignored. Maybe if we get up to leave they might notice us. To summarise food lovely if expensive service atrocious.

" Gastropub " it says on their website....NEVER ! We went for Sunday lunch after reading how popular this place was on our local FB page. Not the nicest of dining areas , certainly not like their photos. Tiled floor , mis-matched furniture, more like a transport cafe for lorry drivers. The whole place is very rundown and drab , peeling wallpaper, damp patches etc. No starters available . Meat was tender and plates piled high but frozen soggy sprouts, cabbage with loads of stalk and nothing seasoned at all . Very bland .Not a good experience. We like to support local businesses but sadly won't return here. The staff were lovely but it needs a lot of money and a total revamp in order to survive . I hope it does!
