Excellent service by Jayne. The lunch was great and location was perfect. It was lovely and cosy inside and an added bonus of some gifts to buy. Would definitely recommend it!

Me & my friends regularly stop at this café while out on our bike rides. The coffee is really good & they make the best homemade scones. Friendly atmosphere & lovely staff. Would highly recommend

Went to Lewis’s of Farndon today. The food, service and environment was excellent. Staff very attentive and accommodating to our needs. A brilliant location in the heart of a beautiful Cheshire village right by a lovely river. It’s the perfect place to eat, drink and relax and would highly recommend this to cafe to anyone. Keep up the great work Lewis’s and we’ll be back very soon. THANK YOU !!!!

Second time visiting this cafe as we have family in Farndon. The unpleasant lady at the till with glasses was so unwelcoming and had no patience. We ordered food which came 20 minutes later, hardly any filling in the sandwich and a really small baps. The drinks came to us after eating our lunch and they had forgotten about them so again a long wait. The ladies seem to more interested in chatting to each other than serving their customers. The coffee was absolutely terrible with a horrible taste of bitterness. The lady with the glasses was so rude and when my son asked for more milk she snatched it out of his hands and tutted. We will not be visiting this cafe ever again and to the owner please train your staff to be pleasant and if they don't enjoy working their perhaps that's not the role for them!!

Pre booked for group of cyclists. We all ordered and paid at the till. Coffees came out fairly quickly. Thanks to the new member of staff for checking everyone had everything. The food came out as it was made, but was quite slow. That's ok, are a big group and would expect some delay. However my meal (avocado and poached egg on toast) and another lady's took an hour to come out, despite two reminders. Each time we were told it was being prepared. When it finally arrived, it was very disappointing. 2 pieces of toast with a smothering of blended avocado (which tasted like it was out of a jar) and 2 eggs. TBF, the eggs were cooked nicely, but I had to scrape the avocado off the toast as I couldn't eat it (I'm not a fussy eater and will eat pretty much everything). Needless to say, I shall not be returning.

I went here for a late brekky today and had an excellent experience. Staff were friendly, the place was spotlessly clean, and the food was great. I had poached eggs on toast with avocado, which was made with really lovely fresh produce. I also enjoyed a slab of Honeycomb Tiffin and a drink. The place is clearly popular with the locals, there's some interesting art on the walls and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely come back again.

Had high hopes. Describing itself as a "speciality coffee shop" we were expecting coffee of a high standard. Oh dear, coffee was dire. Won't be going back.

Cafe was Open at 9:45 serving drinks, but food wouldn’t be cooked until 10 am. Ordered inside and sat out the front of the Cafe as the weather was gorgeous. A pot of tea was delivered to the table just after 10am then 10 mins later the cyclists arrived and sat all around us. We had a very well behaved little French Bulldog and by this time it was 10.25am and still no food, so I said to my partner, let’s go inside to eat as it must be ready by now!. We struggled with the tea cups and a pot of tea and sat down in this empty Cafe. A staff member approached the table and said NO DOGS ALLOWED INSIDE. Oh I said why? I thought it was doggie friendly (most places are in Farndon) . “We just don’t” and if we allow one…..!! Unfortunately we had lost our original outside table to more cyclists, so we were offered the rear Car Park to dine. Well it’s laughable! But I said NO. I wasn’t eating on a shady public Car Park. So we will have to eat it at home? So at 10.35am it was bagged and we left. Disappointing. Insulted and Never Again! God knows how long the food would have taken on a busy day!!

Not a good experience. We were out walking for the day and stopped in for lunch. Really really slow service the food took ages. When it arrived we were really disappointed . Also our table was really sticky and the floor had food under the table. The place sort of smelt of stale food. Shame , it could be lovely.

Not great coffee or food. Tasteless pesto, chutney that over powers not particularly great sausage and they’re described and served in panini bread not pressed so more of grilled dough roll which was grilled.

Had a fantastic mid week lunch. The ploughman’s was excellent, plenty of ham and cheese and a delicious local pork pie. Great selection of hot and cold sandwiches, my wife had the bacon and Brie panini which was also delicious. There was a desert cabinet but we didn’t try any , but all looked home cooked and very inviting. Staff super friendly and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Saw the staff sweep under tables several times as well as wipe the tables down as soon as people next to us left. Will definitely be returning.

I had written a very long review but it somehow deleted itself whilst I was typing. Therefore I will give a bullet point list. 1. The place was boiling hot, steamy, and I apologise for the crudeness… it very unfortunately stank of bad breath. The smell and humidity slapped us in the face upon entry. We almost left because of the smell, but as with many smells you get used to it after a few minutes. 2. The milkshake was just warm milk blended with a biscuit. Milkshakes should be cold and thick, and for that price!!!! Warm watery chunky liquid…Horrible. 3. The stickiest table I have ever sat at. Also dirty. Did Winnie the Pooh sit there before us? Cleanliness is an issue at Lewis’, but I will get into that further. 4. The toilets. Bits of mucky brown loo roll all across the floor, a bad smell permeating, and the warm tap didn’t work. 5. Very expensive for average food. I’d suggest you review the pricing for a plain ham and butter sandwich. And over £8 for a bagel…? 6. Please offer dressing and wash your salad. I would argue that very few people want to eat dry (unwashed) leaves with big slabs of salad tomato, with no seasoning or dressing whatsoever. 7. The overwhelming issue. Faeces of unknown origin (I’m hoping dog, but for all I know it could’ve been human) down the side and corner of my chair. This is absolutely unacceptable. The table was clearly not cleaned between customers, but in addition to this I had to sit in poo and I touched this poo with my hands. Then your hot tap didn’t work so I was trying to scrub cold faeces out of my clothes and fingernails… whilst at lunch with a vulnerable family member. Needless to say, this was a very bad experience. I do recognise that this was likely caused by the customer(s) who sat there before me. The right thing to do was probably to complain at the time, but in the shock of the moment I didn’t. It’s embarrassing to declare that your chair is covered in faeces in the middle of a cafe. I did clean it up myself, and there were staff around at this time, so I don’t know if this was quietly passed on behind the scenes? I will just add that the staff are absolutely lovely. And this is likely a very exceptional circumstance which is not the fault of the business. However, cleanliness should be a priority. The table was sticky and filthy. It smelled in there. The salad was unwashed. The milk warm - had it been left out? There was faeces on my chair. We are coming out of a global pandemic and the standard of cleanliness needs to be kept high. I will absolutely not be returning to this establishment for the reasons given. Please clean your tables, open your windows to let that awful smell out, and check that there isn’t faeces on your chairs. Thank you.

Why does this place smell? I have to agree with other reviewers that this place has absolutely zero charm or character and it has a very greasy old food smell when you walk in. The menus are boring and average just like the surroundings I definitely would not go back.

Usually me and my friend adore Lewis’, however (yes we understand abt COVID) we meet in there for a chat and lunch. Past 4times have been great. However today the price was up by £6.00 (we always go eat out help out days for the discount.) It was also busy in and we couldn’t eat in. They told us it was gonna be a 30-40 minute wait, when we finally got our order it wasn’t at all what we were expecting. We order the panini, salad and tortilla crisps. We understand it may be hard to package these. But they should tell you if u get take out it’s only the panini and the price should be lowered. However, this will not effect our overall experience and opinion on Lewis’ we still adore and will continue to visit it there. 5 stars if the took in our opinion.

Called in for quick lunch last week. The place looks as if it isn't quite finished. Is it a 'gift' shop or a coffee shop ? I was about to hang my coat up on a coat rack when I discovered it was a display for selling scarves. I ordered the soup, a coffee and a piece of carrot cake. My husband ordered a chicken curry and rice. The coffee arrived with the cake. Coffee warm, weak and very milky. The soup was fine but the bread with it a microwaved, doughy baguette. Chicken curry was hardly a curry. It was chicken with a tomato sauce. More Italian than Indian. Carrot cake was dry . Service was friendly but very amateurish. This place should be buzzing. Farndon is a growing village and in need of a good coffee shop/lunch venue. Sadly this needs to be much better.

As a regular to lewis’ I am very disappointed with my visit yesterday. I moved to Farndon a year ago and have visited lewis’ at least 2/3 times a month since. Even though Ive recently had a baby, we have ordered breakfast to take out from Lewis’s when unable to actually visit inside. Yesterday we initially ordered hot drinks which came incorrect, we received a cappuccino instead of a tea, whilst this was changed there was no offer to refund the difference. In addition to this, it is clearly stated on the menu that breakfast is served until midday however despite being at the till before midday, I was told breakfast was no longer being served. We ordered no further food or drinks and left. It really is a shame as we have had lovely service and food in Lewis’s previously.

On an autumnal weekday, we were out on a long walk in this area, enjoying the local villages and the riverside pathways. We were lucky enough to arrive in the village of Farndon at lunchtime and to spot Lewis’s. A sizeable modern cafe, there are lots of indoor tables and on a nice day, you can sit outdoors at the front of the cafe looking out over the village street; it’s a quiet and attractive village, a pleasant place to relax. The service was friendly and efficient - our meals came out in good time, and the whole place was clean and light with tables cleared quickly. We chose the soup and sandwich option for our lunch; the sandwiches were fresh and the portion sizes just right. The scones looked tempting and so we followed up with coffee and a shared scone with jam and cream. A clean toilet and we were all ready to continue our walk in this peaceful part of Cheshire.

Staying in the area with friends so visited after a walk. It was ok but nothing special. No buzz to the place. Coffee ok but cake looked and tasted like Costco but implied they were all homemade home made. Sandwiches were ok but more choice of filling would be good. There are other places locally in Holt which we ll try next time.

In the heart of the village, Lewis's offers a good range of teas, coffees and other drinks with a range of cakes, pastries and lighter lunch dishes to be eaten inside or on the small terrace on the roadside. The staff here are always pleasant and efficient. Seating varies from comfortable sink-in bucket chairs to upright traditional tables as preferred. Always a pleasure to be here!

a group of us cyclists have been using a nearby cafe for our mid-ride stop , but moderate service diminishing portion sizes and the low temperature in the place prompted us to try a different venue . Serendipity smiled upon us and we stumbled on this newish venue , warm and welcoming , great coffee and massive toasted tea cakes and the biggest piece of chocolate cake on a slate platter as well as a loyalty scheme [important when you're on a pension ] has put Lewis's at the top of our stop list .

Extremely disappointed tonight which is unusual as we really enjoyed going before refurbishing. Food was not good a all. 3 cheese burgers one plain and 2 with one piece of lettuce and a chunk of onion. The fries on all three plates were overcooked. The onion rings were overcooked although we did eat some. The carvery was nice except for pigs on blankets as they had been left under heat lamp far to long inedible. The fried chicken sandwich was tasty.but again fries overcooked. The young lady gave me a box to bring the full burger home to put in the bin. This is unusual so not sure if they changed the chief or they were having a bad day. Tripped over the side of the chair and hurt my leg and informed the young lady it was a safety issue she said she would inform the manager but didn’t take steps to remove the hazard. ( not sure yellow and black hazard tape is adequate if it’s covered by the arm of the chair that’s broke ?) this time wasn’t value for money and we left feeling dissatisfied. Felt like they just couldn’t be bothered . Sad really as we have loved eating here 😔

A friend took me for lunch at the cafe yesterday. We were both impressed by how welcoming it felt, how friendly and pleasant the staff were and the quality of the food. So I was surprised to see negative reviews and felt I should express my opinion. I wouldn't hesitate to return, especially to sample the scones and cakes.

Lovely staff and atmosphere. Very welcoming place. We have visited the cafe regularly for the past 6 months and cannot fault the place. We watched a few bands there too and they have been brilliant. My only complaint is the site has let the trees grow a little and hinders the of the lovely view of the fields beyond.
