A great position overlooking the Western Solent from an elevated position. The weather was not good, yet the café was nearly full and it might have been a problem on a weekend busy day. Café food was OK, albeit a little expensive and we were hurried away as soon as we had finished, clearly there is a good demand for tables!

It's a shame. It's a lovely location and want to support the place, but our experience this morning was very poor. Ordered something simple. A hot chocolate, a sparkling mineral water, a sausage roll and 'The classic' breakfast. First off were given a still water rather than sparkling water. Not a big deal and rectified it. After about thirty minutes no food had arrived. Explained to staff and they gave my friend her sausage roll. Waited another 20 minutes and still no breakfast. Went to check if it was being cooked. It wasn't so asked for money for that dish to be refunded. Having been sat there for nearly fifty minutes without breakfast had ample opportunity to observe the staff. Saw one member of staff walk by the pass several times without taking the food waiting there to be collected and taken to customers....they wondered off to clear a table, then walked around for a couple of minutes, then took the food out to customers. It appeared that the member of staff was 'supervising' the others. Not sure anybody knew what they were doing. Please somebody sort it out.

The view and setting is exceptional, the coffee and snack food not so much. Sausage roll was poor, vegan pasty was very spicy with no indication on the menu that this was the case. Fish fingers are good but chips have been removed from the dish and the price is still the same. Disappointing. Staff are very friendly.

Thought I would treat myself today! I had The Beachcomber breakfast. Two farmhouse sausages, two slices of smoked bacon, two eggs, roasted tomatoes on the vine, hash brown, toast and mushrooms.. phew!! Absolutely amazing! Beautifully presented by a young, very polite staff. Sausages were full of flavour, tomatoes amazing, bacon cooked perfectly. Hash brown hot and crispy, perfect mushrooms! But the star of the show... the poached eggs!!! The best I have ever had! (You are offered a choice of how you want your eggs). Highly recommend 💯!! 10/10. Ps. Lovely cup of tea too!

Money is tight so I ordered a Surprise bag from the 'TOO GOOD TOO GO'App. This app is for local businesses too sell off old and unwanted food cheaply to people. The Surprise bag should have had £12+. I received one sausage roll, one pasty and a Tiny slice, not a standard portion, of stale Victorian sponge ! According to the menu online it did not amount to £12. So feel there was definitely not enough content in the bag. I have also complained to 'Too Good to Go'.

We popped in for a take away hot coffee on a cold day. Got served quickly. Drinks came quickly. I had a peppermint tea & my partner a black coffee. The cups were boiling and too hot to hold, i asked if they had any cup holders or any sleeves to put around the cups. No they don’t have any of these grab some napkins and hold it with those - not very helpful. We went over to get the napkins and put some sugar in our drinks. We could hear the woman talking about us rudely behind the counter to a colleague, she obviously thought we had left or couldn’t hear, but we could. My partner was ready to have a go at her, but I said just leave and don’t visit again. We enjoyed Lepe but not he cafe.

Visited Sunday 8th Oct as a family of 4. Decided to get lunch here, Menu was very small, not much choice of hot food and a lack of basic ingredients. Ordered 2 X fish and chips with peas. One kids fish finger and chips and one sausage bap. Was told there was a 45 minute wait, they'd run out of peas and tartare sauce for the fish. After asking for beans or salad instead of peas I was told there wasn't any. It was only about 1230 and didn't seem particularly busy. No offer of reducing the bill for the lack of ingredients. Price was £47.20 which included a hot chocolate and an apple juice. Got the impression from the lady at the till that she would have been glad if we'd left to go somewhere else! Overpriced, food was very average and service was lacking. Nice view though.

Really interesting, imaginative, healthy dishes, and cakes to die for. I worried that I wouldn't be able to get up to the Lookout, which as you'd imagine is perched up high. But accessibility is really well thought-out, manageable slope gives access to upper level Iof the cafe, and then beyond to the upper path for our walk afterwards. I felt enabled - thank you. There were two vegan options. One of them wasn't available. So for us 50% of the menu was off. The lunch we had was good but pricey at nine pounds for four falafels and some roast veg. They are still charging extra for plant milk - disgraceful. The kids meal of Quorn Dippers is described as vegan-they aren't. It's a nice place but felt a bit uncared for.

Such as a shame. This cafe has a captive clientele because it is the only option at a popular tourist attraction. We went on a damp March Saturday afternoon, but it was still completely packed. They have become complacent. Food was not particularly good, the cappuccino was not remotely authentic, the queuing/table reserving system was chaotic, they were short staffed, so tables were not cleared and after waiting ages for a bowl of soup, there were no apologies. In this day and age such sub standard service is not acceptable. We shall not be visiting again, although we will be walking along the lovely beach!

I wonder what it is like on a busy summer day ... We visited in February, with queues out the door waiting to order and pay for food. One lady on the till doing her best to get everyone through as soon as possible. But, the help behind the counter were hopeless. No asking if they could get cakes or drinks ready. No eye contact so you could not be preparing to ask. There was another till but it was closed. There was nowhere to sit, you are supposed to get a table and then order, but if you are on your own, this is hard to do.I was with someone and had to ask some folks if we could join then on a table which was really meant for a drink only. Very small for 4 people. The sandwiches were fresh, but nothing special. The cakes looked better than they tasted. I had banoffee cake which was over sweet and not fluffy in the middle. They allow dogs in and they were not all well behaved.Being asthmatic and allergic, this is not great. Not a place to eat, where I will be going back anytime soon.Tables not cleaned off and the place does not look clean. You have to remember people are coming in and out with sandy shoes, so I do understand this cannot be helped.Such a shame. This is the first time we've been to the Country Park since the new restaurant opened. The previous building was dated and the cafe a bit basic, but at least you got your food quickly - The Lookout is truly awful. The queue for lunch was out the door with a sign saying there was a 15 minute wait for hot food, by the time I got to be served 25 minutes had passed and the delay had gone up to 30 minutes. Our food took 40 minutes to arrive and we both had disappointing, overcooked meals. People who came in after us had their food served first and family next to us only waited 10 minutes for their meals.Having explored the Country Park after lunch we returned to The Lookout for coffee only to be faced with an even longer queue! What a joke. We got in the car, drove 10 minutes up the road to Beaulieu, walked straight into a cafe and got served. We would still have been queuing back at Lepe.So if you don't mind it taking the best part of two hours to get a snack lunch, go to The Outlook. The cynic in me wonders if this is a deliberate ploy by the council to make sure that you end up having to pay for all day parking.

Let’s start with the positives - the D-Day walk along the beach is lovely, great views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and plenty of space for dogs and children to run around in a traffic-free environment.Sadly, the negatives outweigh the positives; the car park is poorly maintained with huge potholes, overflowing dog waste bins and unmarked parking bays, leading to inconsiderate parking - this may be acceptable if the parking were free, but even in December, car parking charges apply, including blue badge holders. The Lookout cafe is a stunning new building, with fabulous views out of very dirty, finger-smudged windows, but the food and service leave a lot to be desired. We joined the end of the queue, which was snaking around the outside of the building, and waited for just under 30 minutes to place our order. The special of the day (Brie and cranberry toastie) was unavailable, there were no marshmallows to go in hot chocolates, and the options for vegetarians/vegans was very limited - one quinoa burger, a jacket potato with beans, or a packaged vegan sausage sandwich. Once ordered, our food then took 45 minutes to arrive in dribs and drabs; I had finished my lunch before my children’s food arrived! My daughter had a jacket potato that was so lukewarm that the butter didn’t melt on it, the side salad was about 10 baby leaves and a cherry tomato, with no dressing, and I have no idea what sort of fish was in the fish finger sandwich - it was grey and very unappealing. There seemed to be a severe shortage of staff - not enough waitresses to serve the food and clean the tables and not enough kitchen staff to prepare and cook the food; surely if you know it is the Christmas holidays and the weather forecast is for a dry, mild, sunny day, you would plan accordingly. Overall, I think I paid a lot of money for disappointing mediocre food - next time, I would take a picnic and park on the side of the road.

Four of us had Brunch here, good food, well cooked, good quality ingredients. Service was quick but I should imagine it can be pretty hectic in the summer as it was quite busy in December. Dogs are welcome which is good as it is a favourite dog walking area in the winter, The view from the windows is outstanding, you can see the isle of Wight on a clear day.My only real gripe is that during the off peak season you still have to pay for the carpark which is understandable in mid summer but not really needed in December.

Surprised by a lot of negative reviews here and not my experience of this new and improved cafe. Lovely architecture gives an elevated vantage point and lovely views over the Solent. When we arrived (late lunch) it was busy but service was swift. Disappointed that they’d run out of jackets but the fish finger sandwich we both opted for was lush. The food is not overpriced for this type of venue. The staff were friendly and an efficient manageress was circulating and keeping things running smoothly. All the tables were full and yes, they could fit more in but then it would feel cramped! Delighted they allow well behaved dogs in; mine lies under the table and people don’t even know he’s there (although guessing not everyone will approve of this!) There are lovely walks to be had and yes, you have to pay beach parking prices...well worth it and planning to come back to try the brunch!

Council run and a monopoly is not a recipe for success. The food is bland, of a poor standard and over-priced. The staff lack enthusiasm and passion for their work. Maybe ok if you want a hot drink and a piece of cake but don't bother with the cooked food. On top of this you have to pay Hampshire County Council to park.

Brought my teenage children here for a quick drink and walk on the beach. Stayed longer as they wanted another portion of chunky chips. I can imagine it gets very busy at times but when we were there the queue was very manageable. Staff were very engaging and helpful. Very clean inside. Love the location, architecture and ambiance. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at the campsite behind the cafe and it does a wide range of teas and coffee.

We visited on a Thursday when there was a special event Marine Day in the park. It was stupidly busy. The wait standing in line to order was 30 minutes then another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The poor elderly chap in front of me only wanted a cup of tea! I’m not sure if this is usual busy or due to the event.

What better way to spend Saturday afternoon than with a superb ice cream with flake taking in great views of the Solent towards the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Hurst Castle.

The fish was absolutely awful I have no idea what fish it was certainly not cod or haddock and I suspect was frozen had a very strange taste and at £19 for 2portions not cheap but we still ended up putting it in the bin,I have eaten in the cafe before and been fairly happy but it's normally if I have cake, it turned into a very expensive evening by the time we paid for parking as well,we live fairly close so visit Lepe a lot at least 2/3times a week especially late Sunday afternoon we love visiting lepe but unfortunately the cafe is not anything special.

Came in today with friends and family and had a lovely meal. Tables could have been cleared but we did get in just before the rush.

What is there not to like! Breakfast is good service prompt, views spectacular. Beware if you go on a nice day mid morning you are going to have a big queue also you have to pay to park so really it needs to be more than a trip for food. Lovely place to walk. Dogs allowed in. Views amazing and toilets are brilliant

This wooden clad beachfront cafe is a welcome sight, between the treelined play area and the rocky beach and car parking.

First visit since the new build. A friend and I went in for lunch after a long walk yesterday (Saturday). It was 1pm and fairly busy but we got a table by the window which afforded us lovely views across the water. There were signs up saying it was a 30 minute wait for hot food which was disappointing but at least we were made aware. I hope this is a one off. Having completed a long walk we didn't want to wait so opted for sandwich and cake. There was a lot of choice, including vegetarian. Might sound odd to rave about a pre-packed sandwich (smoked salmon, cucumber, cream cheese) but it was really fresh and tasty. Prices were reasonable given the good quality of the food (can of Tango, packet of crisps, smoked salmon sandwich, lemon cake came to £9.05). Paper cups and straws :)

Never been to Lepe before, came for the day & had a good lunch here in between walking along the beach and spending time in the bird hide. Jacket potato with tuna for me & fish & chips for my husband - all hot & tasty. Reasonably priced & a great view to enjoy while eating. Having found Lepe & this cafe, we will be back

A world class country park and sensational views from the cafe over the silent towards the Isle of Wight. As usual the coffee and cake was of a most acceptable standard indeed as was the service.

I visited here with a group of women after we'd walked along Lepe Beach - an auspicious week as it is the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings and we saw various wreaths that had been laid.

The new cafe at Lepe is great however it’s always very busy and generally difficult to find a table at weekends. Dogs are allowed which is handy.

Having recently discovered Lepe Beach a month or two ago during a previous stay in the New Forest, I decided to go back and sample the cafe. It does what it says on the tin. All the usual cafe food available. We went for the all day breakfast bap with beans and chips. Tasty, filling and very reasonable for less than £6.

Popped in for what we thought would just be a soft drink, ended up all having something cooked to eat, including the gluten and dairy free 8yo who thoroughly enjoyed her fish fingers, chips and peas. Thank you for allowing us to all eat as a family and considering everyone.

Called here for lunch with family after our dog walk, great location however the service was not good, had to remind the waitress as she had forgotten the potatoes and the mayonnaise to go with my sons fish cake which did seem to be lacking fish.

Have not been to this place for about 6.years and it wasn't great then either. We all choose of the festive menu pre oredered. Turned up to be told one of the starters was not available, fair enough ordered something else, however when thw food started coming out what was on the menu was definitely not what was served on the plate in fact it was less but they still had the nerve to charge a supplement for things that where not there. How this place is still running is beyond me. I will not be returning for a meal!

My wife was charged £6 for one round of cheap supermarket bread toasted.Hmm.!! My sausage bap was average at best. We had to endure sitting close to 3 loud/sweary blokes, who were old enough to know better than to swear in front of women. You can rip us off once, you won't get another chance
