Lemon Twist in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Took some of my family here recently. Loved the place from the moment we walked in. Relaxing atmosphere, amazing food, and Cassius, the member of staff we interacted with, was just amazing; friendly, accommodating, attentive, and the perfect person to have interacting with customers. When my wife had to rush off to pick up our son in an emergency, just as the food was being served, Cassius and the chef said they would just cook her a fresh meal when she got back. You would not get this level of service anywhere else and it instantly made us loyal customers who plan to return whenever we are in Falmouth. Thank you so much to Cassius and the Chef, that was incredibly kind of you. The girl at the bar was also nice, but Cassius took customer service to a whole other level, thank you mate, you have made us fans for life

Took advantage of the cocktail hour!

Cassius was amazing at making our espresso martinis (thank you for the tip about making them :) ), all the food was superb! Service was also excellent - in general an amazing lunch!! Thank you very much :)

Only had cocktails but the staff were lovely drinks were a great size for the price definitely worth it!

Didn’t get to experience the food but was there for a pub quiz and cocktail, the quiz was entertaining and hosted well, and cocktails were tasty and good for the money - definitely worth the visit

We just visit falmouth for a few days. We had really really nice cocktails and tapas . Highly recommanded. What a wonderful place.

RIP Lemon Twist. The change of hands has killed this once lovey place. The atmosphere here has gone from a nice cosy spot to enjoy a few drinks to a cold, empty space stuffed with tacky commercial artwork and cheap ply facades. The drinks have been hiked up in price and dropped in quality, the staff were very kind and did what they could, but the drinks were low quality and had to be remade. Really sad to be writing this review as this was once one of the best places in Falmouth, another business washed out and used to shake down students. Will not return.

Food/ drink quality does not justify the price.

We booked the back room for Sat 24th of feb for a gr oup of 25, firstly we were extremely disappointed with the amount of food provided, for £15 per head there was no where near what was expected. A few bowls of chips, sweet potato fries, fried veg, chicken wings and pasta doesn't really cut it. I had to request the calamari from the chef, as per what was on the email stating what was going to be on the menu. It also all came out at different stages so the dishes were going cold while waiting for the rest of the food and said above the quantity was very poor! Now onto the drinks, we arrived at 7pm if not earlier as per our booking. Some of our guests didn't get served until 7.45! To then be told that their drinks would be brought through, to then wait a further 30 minutes for those drinks to arrive. It was an absolute shambles! The waitresses were going as fast as they could but I'm sorry it was a Saturday night with a group booking of 25 people plus normal people coming in why was there not more staff? The wait on drinks was absolutely ludicrous! Plus the waitresses weren't looking at the queue, people were jumping in and being served before others that had been there for half an hour. I believe the back room had been double booked that night and the group of 17 who had thought that they had the room then got 'special treatment' ignoring all other paying customers. They all had multiple drinks plus their food before some people from our group had even got their first drink. It was craziness! We booked Lemon Twist after going before for meals and drinks (a year or so ago!) with always excellent service and quality of food but this time we were extremely disappointed and to be honest with you it ruined the evening. All everyone was talking about was how terrible the wait was on drinks (as stated above) I had to chase the drinks multiple times and then to top it off with the lack of food for the money paid we will not be returning! Terrible! I had also emailed this review to lemon twist before posting it to not receive a response.

just want to take the time out of my day to say: that I actually really like this place. have spent a lot of time in Falmouth, and Lemon Twist, even though I have walked past it a few times, made me feel really welcome the first time I went in always busy, and will definitely go again keep up the great work to the staff and owner, you guys are a credit to Falmouth. I don't write many reviews but regrettably I feel a recent visit to Lemon Twist warrants the time it of my day to write. I recently attended a function here and the venue really let itself down. They ran out of beer, had flat soft drinks, ran out of Tonic so couldn't make G & Ts, no non alcoholic beers or ciders, only had one working card reader for the whole establishment, the food was really poor, bland and took far too long to be delivered, no cutlery was given with the food and the music was too loud to be able to talk to the person next to you. I could go into more detail on each point as that's just the overview but needles to say it was a shambles. They knew they had a group of 40+ coming in on a Friday night and seemingly made no plans or forethought that as a bar they may need drinks and a method to accept payment for what little that had. Running to Tesco's every 10 minutes to buy more 'stock' was embarrassing and a little insulting to be honest. Also the taps in the bathroom are barely hanging on and some other patrons had to be moved on as the venue hadn't told them certain areas were bare booked. Overall a bit of a disastrous visit and one I and many of my friends will not be making again. Such a great opportunity for them to set even an average bar that would have been sufficient that even that they failed spectacularly to miss. I really wouldn't recommend eating or drinking here to anyone. There are soo many lovely establishments in Falmouth that are far more deserving of your trade and you'll have a much nicer drinks and food offering.

I witnessed perverse comments to staff members by a manager and overheard sexist comments to staff. Service is only good as how it treats its employees. Don’t eat here.

Lukewarm food after waiting 45 minutes for chips and tacos to top it off the tortillas were stale. (the place had no more than 10 people in the building so the wait was a surprise), Lack of deals on drinks despite being advertised, and constant drinks being messed up despite being clear to the bar staff. Not to mention drinks were beyond expensive (partly due to the no deals avaliable but still expensive anyway). No beer on tap either meaning it was over £4 per small bottle. And the spirits all tasted watered down which is worrying. Also pouring cheap vodka into a smirnoff bottle at the bar for the whole place to see really tells you what this place has become not to mention that this is beyond illegal. There was broken glass from the heater just outside the building and the toilets had a whole bin bag filled with rubbish just left next to the toilet. Just sad to see after how great the place used to be and a shame to see new management run the place into the ground. Would not recommend.

Fall from grace - a couple years ago this was an essential Falmouth go-to, now overpriced and an unsettling environment with cold food and disappointing cocktails. Used to be great, now an unfortunate mood-killer :/

A great bar with a little bit of everything, excellent food and tapas. Excellent customer service provided by the owner and staff.

Worst meal EVER. I asked for the “Mediterranean Salad” - which had a whole host of ingredients according to the menu and asked for the vegan option… the salad arrived with only lettuce, tomatoes and 5 large chunks of feta, although waiter was claiming it was vegan vegan. Not at all as advertised - with quinoa, sun dried tomatoes etc. I asked the waiter to make the salad like the menu said… he looked confused at the menu - and apparently the head chef called to tell the chef in the kitchen how to make the salad. The salad came back out still with the non-vegan feta and with an addition of watery quinoa.

My sister booked for her 21st birthday, originally 11 booked weeks in advance and she phoned up upon the day of booking to add 5 more. All confirmed and details taken. Arrive on the day we had arranged the booking for to be told there was a double booking and they didn’t have space for us. Table was due to 7pm and didn’t get sat until 8.30/9 when the previous party left. Once finally got our table we put in drinks order, drinks were muddled up asked for a strawberry daiquiri and was given a mixed berry and mango one?¿. Then to the food, there was a problem with pretty much all of it, I ordered nachos with is meant to come with guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Had the guacamole but no sign of the others- when I asked I was then informed they didn’t have any which had I known before would’ve probably picked something else. They then took another drinks order which the kept losing the ticket for and then made double by accident and then expected us to pay for two lots when we only ordered one. Seems to me they can’t work with a big group so may benefit from not doing larger parties. The food I did have was nice bur just the mix up wasn’t ideal.

If you haven't already, then Lemon Twist is a must. I can highly recommend the Third Bird Burger, it is Cajun and comes with salad and pickles, and a side of fries, I had the lunch special, and it only cost me £9, and worth every penny. I had a pint of coke with ice and a slice to wash it down nicely. The atmosphere is lovely, I sat outside for my meal, as it was sunny, and they had Queen songs playing inside the bar. The staff were so polite, and the young man fetched everything we asked for, sauces, cutlery, and came out and checked if we needed. I will definitely be going back, as I forgot to tip them, a good excuse to go back.

We didn’t eat here and just had cocktails, so that’s what the food rating is for. The cocktails were WAY too sweet for the price, (2 for £14 during happy hour), very sour as well. We had the Long Island iced tea, the sex on the beach, the aviation gin cocktail and the English garden cocktail. Of those only the sex on the beach was worth having, and it was pretty standard at that. Maybe eat here, but if you’re looking for cocktails, go somewhere more specialised.

I visited the other week with friends. Really liked the atmosphere and decor - felt really fun and modern. Prices were typical for a cocktail bar, but drinks were very enjoyable and staff were very friendly. I would definitely visit again.

I really like this place. I recommend the spicy shrimp tacos! The food is always fresh and tasty and the wait staff are friendly and welcoming.

Visited Lemon Twist previously when the service and food was excellent, My wife and i went for a special occasion to enjoy the sea food platter, after ordering olives and wine and the platter we sat back to enjoy the evening, the olives and wine arrived ok, after 45 minutes we asked about out mains and the order was not put through, we left and went to Tesco for a pizza and returned home, poor show Lemon Twist and you REALLY need a front of house that is switched on

Had food poisoning after eating at the lemon twist. Finished eating at 6:30pm and was still throwing up at 1am. Tasty going down but not coming back up. Not how I wanted to spend my wedding anniversary. Do not recommend!

Great service food and drinks! Recommend to everyone in town

We normally absolutely love coming to Lemon Twist but unfortunately we ordered the Brie on Focaccia, to get some Brie on brought baguette. Whilst Brie on baguette is nice, it can be brought round the corner from Tescos for £2 instead of the £7 spent for 2 measly slices. When we asked why the focaccia wasn’t in fact focassia, the waitress said they had ran out. Left very disappointed. It’s a nice atmosphere but after this, we do not feel like returning.

Excellent little Tapas bar. Menu is much more interesting than similar restaurants in the area. Food is top quality and nicely prepared and presented. Portions are also generous. My wife and me shared two Tapas and a portion of dirty fries which was plenty for a satisfying lunch. Well worth a visit.

First visit to the lemon twist and the food was really good

Delicious sea food platter Our first time at this unusual Taps bar which serves a selection of tapes based dishes. We came for one thing only, the Seafood Platter at £35 for two. We asked to be move from our very small table for two only to be told we would have been moved anyway as it’s certainly not adequate when having the platter, not joking it’s huge. A large wooden platter of mixed salad leaves, breaded calamari, prawns in garlic butter sauce, two pan fried scallops, brown and white crab meat, a dish of mussels in creamy wine sauce, four pieces of battered hake, focaccia and crusty bread, alioli and sweet chilli dips. All the seafood was cooked perfectly nothing overcooked, the mussels especially delicious. Could not fault the platter. We ordered a dish of chips £3, water and a bottle of acceptable white wine £17.95 A totally delicious meal, attentive and very friendly staff and our absolute recommendation.

We called in on a Monday. I can really recommend the sea food platter to share… orgasm on a plate.. great flavours and plenty for two. Certainly beat fish and chips on the beach.. The staff were quick and helpful and Will was amazing Thankyou.

The best seafood platter I've ever had. Amazing, fresh , perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented. Staff young, very friendly naturally people. Recommend from bottom of my heart.

Food good but sat in a cold draughts as they refused point blank to close front door on a very wet and windy night because it keeps the back room cool, there were 6 people in the back room so it was hardly a steaming mosh pit. They also refused to let us have plastic 60th birthday confetti as it might damage the expensive tables, which were made of varnished scaffold boards hardly quality pieces. Our waiter was very apologetic about the silly rules and had it not been my friends 60th I would of had a long discussion with the manager. If the manager spent a bit more time looking at the poor state of the toilets or the filthy restaurant floors instead of making silly petty rules the restaurant would be a much better place to visit. I can think of better ways to spend £500 Very poor.

We made a last minute booking last night after another restaurant cancelled last minute. There was 5 of us and they managed to fit us in. The food was excellent everything was cooked fresh, we had a selection of the tapas dishes which were all delicious, plenty of options to choose from and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Love that they do great food and a good selection of cocktails. This place is what Falmouth needs. We will definitely be back soon!

Came here last week Wednesday around 9:30pm. Someone had made a mistake of telling us the kitchen was closing at 9:45 but this had actually been changed to 9pm. After clearing this up, the team were very glad to seat us to a table& take our orders. We had a few drinks and the seafood platter. This was our last night in Falmouth and this was honestly our best meal, with prompt and friendly service. I unfortunately did not get any names but the two young people serving that night (10th of August) and the person who looked to be the manager- all did an amazing job, everything was great about this place& it’s located in a really beautiful part of town also. Highly recommend.

Good place for dinner, with decent vegetarian menu. We had scallops with chorizo, cauliflower tacos and crab loaded chips, all really nice. Staff are friendly and they serve dinner until quite late. We arrived quite late but they still treated us well :)

Very nice and warm friendly service

We are loyal or were loyal locals ... we have been going in here once a month or more since it opened. we loved it, always spent a lot and celebrated many occasions there in the past both 18th birthday ironically after this eve!! BUT now it has massively gone down hill in quality.. twice been in no oysters and in season... tonight no lager on tap only bottles! and despite my daughters being over 18 you refused to serve them cocktails without their ID on them when you have never questioned this before!!! we took them out as treat only to be met wit this attitude, they have had countless cocktails in the past in here without question. we left tonight, we won't go back... on complaining it would seem that loyalty means nothing and so we went else where... big loss to you as we spent a lot of money over your time there and so have our children with their friends. Awful response by email to management too. just don't bother especially if local other places deserve the support more

The food here was great and staff very friendly. Also have good gluten free options. I had a burrito which was tasty. The only thing given the height of Covid, is that no serving staff wore masks.

It was okay. Staff were polite and friendly, service was quick enough. My issue was the food. I had fish tacos and I've never had them like that before. The fish was good, but came with coleslaw in the taco. I love coleslaw, but it wasn't very nice stuff and weird with fish. I didn't notice coleslaw mentioned on the menu, I may have missed it, I'm not sure, but it tasted odd with fish. Other than that, all good though

Fantastic lunch again today. We had the best ever veggie burrito and chicken burrito with really tasty side salad, chilli and creamy dip. Very fresh ingredients. We'll definitely be back soon.

Very basic food at gourmet prices. My burger was burnt and was literally just a tiny patty with a smidgen of cheese with a 6-for-40p-bun, no salad, no sauce, no nothing. All of the other people on the table were equally disappointed. Most didn't finish and that certainly wasn't because of the size of the portions. Food and upper management were poor all 'round. Front of house were fantastic, which is the only reason this isn't 1 star. The drinks were great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially the guy with the goatee. Just in case this review is misconstrued by management, let me clarify: THE FOOD IS ONE STAR, service is five star.

The fish tacos are the best I've ever had. The place is fun and vibrant, cocktails were strong and delicious. It would be a 5 star review but a tad dampened by 5 or 6 staff members wandering around chatting but nobody checking in, we tried a few times to ask for another drink, and our waitress took away our menus when we managed to order another round even though we were going to order dessert so we skipped it. We'd definitely give it another go, as the food is to die for, but the service could definitely have been improved. Would not have minded at all if it were busy, but 3 tables full and a ton of staff about so worth a mention.

Very disappointed, we had booked a table well in advance only to arrive and be told "you know we're not doing food tonight?", Which we replied "no" and then "oh we must have forgotten to ring you", this left us searching across town for somewhere else to eat last minute in the middle of holiday season, ended up having to eat outside (not prepared for) an hour later than planned elsewhere, due to everything being booked up... Awful communication, no phone call or email.

Very disappointing Had booked a last minute reservation online & turned up to find the restaurant was closed with a note on the door saying they were closed due to staff shortages. Another group had also turned up having booked online. Really disappointing that we hadn't been contacted & informed of this. A waste of everyone's time really.

This place didn't look much from the outside but had excellent tapas and tacos. The seafood spaghetti was excellent. Also this place really know how to make cocktails. Well worth a visit.

Visited just before Christmas, I genuinely recommend people go somewhere else for a nice evening. We waited at least 30mins for someone to serve us at our table and a further 30mins for the food to arrive, by that stage it was cold chewy (we ordered meatballs, chorizo and calamari) and a struggle to eat. I mentioned it to the waitor who then got extremely hostile, I politely asked to speak to someone in charge. A lady came over and was equally aggressive. It really put us on edge and the whole experience was just so unpleasant. There are so many other wonderful places to eat in Falmouth so I recommend to go anywhere but the Lemon Twist

I booked lemon twist for a special meal that my friend and I had planned to celebrate some recent good news. We usually always go to the shed as both the food, drinks and service are always consistently good - but decided to try somewhere new for a change. I can honestly say Lemon twist has to be one of the worst resturant experiences I have ever had, ruining what should have been a special evening with a friend. Upon arrival we were seated at our table which was sticky and dirty, and seemed as though it had not been cleaned since the last table had left. We then waited over 20 minutes for someone to come to our table to take a drinks order after we ushered someone over. A few of the staff looked very unkept and scruffy - the barman making our cocktails had long hair down to his shoulders and a beanie hat on - not hygienic. After we received our first drinks no-one returned to our table and we had to ask again if it was possible to place a food order and for someone to come and wipe our table. We had finished our food and saw that a young waitress who we now know is called Maria clearing the table opposite us. We politely got her attention and asked if it was possible for us to place another drinks order, to which she rolled her eyes at and told us she wasn't our waitress and that she'd send someone else over. I could not believe that it was possible to feel like such a nuisance to the staff - who all seemed completely disinterested in their jobs. When the waiter came to take our payment we explained what had happened and he asked who the lady was - we described the waitress and he said he knew who we were talking about and that they had received complaints about her before - so why this individual has been allowed to continue to be rude to customers really is beyond me. The food was substandard and the cocktails were just ok. The whole experience was disorganised, chaotic and a huge disappointment - safe to say I would never step foot in this place again. By the look of the comments replying to their reviews lemon twist are incapable of taking criticism and will reply in a confrontational and defensive manner! Its a real shame as the location of this restaurant is amazing and has so much potential. Disappointing to say the least.

Great food, booked late, but didn't regret the decision.

We came here after a 6 hour walk to rest our legs. Great location with views of the port and “people watching” in the main square. Great atmosphere, superb cocktails and delicious tapas.

Amazing decor and lovely staff, even though everyone seems a tad young and as if they don’t want to be there. The food wasn’t amazing, chicken nachos were the best we had but the scallops and chorizo were gritty and meatballs tasted frozen. Cocktails were way drinking, and a fun big range to choose from, but anywhere that small with that many cocktails on won’t have the most amazing cocktails as it’s impossible to tend to them! To be fair- some were amazing. I found myself ordering a good few daiquiri’s and blueberry mojito’s, and the shots are a nice touch!! Fun place to go with friends, but not for a serious dinner, but sometimes that’s all you need! Lovely day spent with you guys though!

We booked a table at Lemon Twist after walking passed a couple of times and weren't disappointed a brilliant selection of cocktails which were all reasonably priced were disappearing from the bar as fast as they bar staff could make them and the tapas dishes coming out from the kitchen were all really really nice, the place had a very friendly buzz and atmosphere helped by the friendly staff - worth a visit but advisable to book in advance

Great food and good service from a young talented team

We had fantastic service from a lovely young woman who was friendly and had good knowledge of the menu. We both had the seafood linguini which was absolutely delicious. Lemon twist has become a haut of ours everytime we sail in. Not just for the quality food and cocktails but also for the atmosphere, definitely somewhere you should visit if you're in Falmouth.

I have been here several times, it always has great atmosphere and delicious food in ample amounts. The staff are friendly and helpful, fish sharing platters fantastic with scollops and chorizo, local mussels and amazing garlic prawns. A seafood lover's feast!

Went here Saturday night for tapas and drinks. The tapas was nice, nothing really spectacular but the cocktails were amazing and they had 2 for 1 so even better. Staff were friendly and seemed to have a good system for COVID measures. Service could have been a bit quicker but it wasn't annoyingly slow. Would definitely visit again.

Excellent seafood linguine and tapas. Young man cleaning the glasses should not run his fingers through his hair every minute and keep the tea towel on his other shoulder. Took 30 minutes to tell us there was no haddock for the fish and chips and another 30 before we got the food.

I’ve never been to such a disorganised bar. How you can have several people crowded behind a bar and constantly walk past our table and not ask the table for drinks. The staff were only attentive when needing to take away any glasses, almost felt like we were ushered to leave as they did not ask if we wanted anymore drinks. We were never rude to the staff and were always patient for service. The bar staff need to up their standards ASAP. Disappointing given the reviews of this place.

Food and drinks are great here, we booked the table had no problem with that easy to sort out, Staff are lovely also provide quick service definitely recommend especially for the cocktails will definitely visit again when we next visit Falmouth

We turned up at 8.45 and we hadn’t booked, luckily we were told that a table had cancelled so we were seated inside. We had two others joining us so we assumed the neglected service was down to our friends not being there yet, however when they arrived we were still not served this was 35 min mark. Our friend had to go and fetch the attention of the bar staff. The staff looked miserable were not welcoming or warm towards any of us and everything we asked seemed like too much effort, we were by no means a hard table. Can’t fault the drinks but the service is somewhat undesirable, I’ll be going to the Shed next time.

Had seafood platter in this restaurant for lunch. Service was ok, a little slower than I'd like, we also had to ask for the table to be cleaned as this was sticky. When staff came with plates and cutlery we also found that there was sticky resedue inside of the bowl, not ideal. We couldn't have all that was presented on the seafood platter as they didn't have scallops so switched these for prawns. When the food itself arrived it tasted nice enough, was well presented and portion size was also generous.

I want to start by saying the staff were very nice however there were certain factors that fell below par which I had to mark down. The table was dirty when we got sat down and I had to point this out to be cleaned again. We also got given a dirty bowl. Particularly at these times cleanliness is of the upmost importance and so needs to be focused on. My partner and I shared a seafood platter. The food itself was very tasty and I would recommend this dish, however we were sat on a small table for 2 and there really wasn’t enough room for the platter and a dish for you to eat off, which meant all my amenities were shoved into the corner of the table. I was also disappointed that after we ordered the seafood platter that it wasn’t for some time that we were told that there weren’t actually any scallops left for this dish. As I said food overall very tasty but there are areas which could be improved to provide a better service.

Really great food at atmosphere. A group of us had a late meal and drinks, it was very refreshing to eat and socialise in a fun and almost party like atmosphere. House wine was nice and well priced.
