Akswit did a great job and made our family brunch perfect, timing the coffees with the food just as we asked; great job Akswit! Overall a nice place to go for a day out and some fresh air.

Thanks to all the team who contibuted to a special reunion lunch with friends. Amish, Arnaud and Steve were really attentive and made us feel valued. Thoroughly enjoyable day out; beautiful setting and scenery, and the roast dinner was the highlight. Very clean with a lovely atmosphere; we were greeted as though we were family and made to feel very welcome. The food and service was superb; despite half term crowds, we were still seated and catered for with minimal wait. We will definitely be back! Many thanks to the staff and team.

We queued for 45 minutes to be seated. There were a lot of empty tables and very few staff. When we got to the head of the line we were asked if we had a reservations. No. Well you need one. We have being queuing for 45 mins and there is absolutely no indication in that line anywhere that you need a booking . The website says ‘You may book’ but we have been waiting 45 mins. Oh - was the reply. What about all these other people?Well maybe they do have reservations … we asked the entire queue behind us ( approx 50 people) no one had a reservation. What about that empty table right there that has been empty the entire time we queued? No you need a reservation for that! We were eventually sat .. food took .45 mins to arrive.

Arrived at the cafe at 12.50 and only 2 sandwiches were available. More were delivered when we asked for them, but they took a long time to arrive and by this time, I chose the only ciabatta roll which was so dry it was inedible. Generally the food was unappetising and ridiculously expensive. No serviettes, no glasses for the water and not overly clean. Definitely would not eat here again.

We went to the cafe for lunch. There was a young woman scrubbing at something under the counter. After several minutes waiting I asked if anyone was serving? She then got to her feet and seemed unsure of anything. Another assistant arrived but she was equally useless. After lunch we looked for somewhere to put our used crockery and cutlery, we asked a young man who instead of saying “I’ll take that for you” instead said “somewhere on the trolley over there!” This cafe is not cheap and I would expect polite service.

Our first visit to Savill Kitchen Garden. We tried to get organised by collecting cutlery napkins etc before ordering. Noticed that the water bottles were empty and a shortage of glasses. I approached the service area and asked if the water could be filled up. Fifteen minutes still no water. My friends had sat down and were eating their lunch. No sign of water so bought a drink and a small packet of crisps to go with the sandwich my husband had already purchased for me. Could not believe how expensive they were in the region of £4.65. No sign of the water turning up. Tables were not being cleaned or cleared. Extremely disappointed with the whole experience. The staff could not care less.

Very disappointed with both the service and food. This is our second visit and we were hoping it was better, it was worse. Although the restaurant was less than half full we (and we were in a queue) had to wait 15 mins for a table. If there was anywhere else we could have gone we would have walked out. Staff were looking at the queue of people and walking away. We were first of all put on a dirty table but refused as there were plenty of others available. We were then left for another 10 mins before ordering and we had to call over a member of staff to take our order. When the food came, fish and chips and a carpricciosa pizza with soft drinks we had to send the pizza back as was cold (not warm, but cold to the touch). The chips were ok but as the fish was hot my friend decided not to send it back. When the pizza came is was luke warm, but by now it was either eat it or walk out and we were hungry. The waiter knocked a glass off another table and although he picked up the glass he didn't mop up the spillage. We asked 2 members of staff to do it and they both walked away. When we paid we asked again for it to be mopped up as it was dangerous and he did, saying "oops". Spending £19.95 for fish and chips, £16.50 for the pizza we expected better. This wasn't just a one-off, you can only give places a second chance, so never again. Such a disappointment.

Savill Gardens are great and it would be also great to have a decent restaurant. Location is lovely. Service is very slow and food very average, small portions and super expensive. I was there last week with my sister. We both ordered the Savill Salad. About £ 19 Each. Portion was like ‘tapa’ size. Not even a starter size. We sent it back and it returned with a few more rocket leaves….. Poor. The restaurant at Virginia Water is so much better!!

What a shame - this place used to have lovely healthy salads & sandwiches at affordable prices. Now it’s just a sit down restaurant with a limited menu and extortionate prices (£20 for fish & chips!). As an indication our party of 4 ended up paying £120 for a main course & soft drink each (inc parking) The food was good but healthy options were limited. The decor doesn’t appear to have changed must since I was last there - it is still cold, cafe style and certainly not in keeping with the prices. Sorry, we won’t be returning.

Great lunch venue as part of a day out. My daughter is coeliac and the only GF option on the menu (excluding soup) was a pizza in a GF base. It was cooked in the same oven though as the rest but on a separate tray and used separate utensils. The customer service I received from Anthony was very good and I felt reassured that this option as enough to not allow for cross contamination and he even agreed with the chef that they would only cook the GF pizza in there on its own. But to the owners/managers please try and do better at providing more options and reassurance for coeliacs visiting as cooking in the same pizza oven is not really a safe option for coeliacs.

We regularly go out for breakfast at the weekends. As we were renewing a riding membership we thought we would try Savill Gardens whilst we were there. What a mistake that was, it was terrible. The waiter took our order of two full English breakfast and a sausage bap. All three of us asked for all the meat well done. We also ordered three hot drinks and my daughter also wanted a glass of tap water. We waited and waited for even our drinks and I noticed the table of two next to us who came in after us, not only got their drinks before us, but their food arrived just as we were getting our hot drinks. I had to ask again for my daughters water. The breakfast arrived and the sausages on my and my husbands plate were anaemic, the poached eggs (you don't get a choice of what egg you want - its poached or poached) looked terrible and when I cut it open it was over cooked and then when I took a mouthful of egg I had a mouthful of shell. Unfortunately I had to spit this out which the waiter saw. I called him over and explained that the sausages are definitely not well done as requested, the mushrooms were cold and there is shell in the egg. He took my husband and I plates away and brought the same plates back. The sausages had a little more colour but were not well done. The eggs still had shell in them. The waiter asked if everything was ok when he could see we had picked at my breakfasts and left about 50% of each. I said no, there was still shell in my egg and the sausages are still not well done. We got a discount, but that is not the point I would of preferred an edible breakfast. The bacon was well done but streaky. None of the products were good quality except the butter to go on your toast! I will definitely not be returning. There are plenty of other places to get a good breakfast.

......is appalling. Having been in catering for over 10yrs including silver service, the basics of customer service is lacking here. Too few untrained staff, blame covid or whatever, waitng to get served, by then told we missed Breakfast, then waiting another 25mins for a tea and a coffee. Service, Service, Service I was taught, but for whatever reason here, service was just poor, it has to be down to the lack of training and management, poorly trained staff can only do so much. Sad, because it's a lovely location, I'd make sure I'd eat Breakfast before any next visit.

A few years before this was taken on by Benugo - it used to be so nice, but when it was reconfigured and new management taken over it has really been very poor. Expensive for what you getEven before the pandemic problems they had managed to turn it into more of a motorway service station (though not as good!) and we have avoided it.We thought we would give it another go and today and the soup was delivered without the freshly baked bread, when the waitress did get the bread it turns out to be a cold, pale roll. This was £6.75 and would have failed the trade description act.I asked what the soup of the day was and the waitress said without hesitation that it was mixed vegetable (and added that it was the same everyday!). So it isn't "soup of the day" its the "soup of everyday" - just put that on the menu!?!For an attraction (Savill Garden) that is so good and pulls in visitors from around the world to be associated with this kitchen is an embarrassment - As a regular visitor to the garden, as a member, I certainly won't rush to visit kitchen again.

Walked through Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water today stopping for a break at Savill Gardens. First finding the proper way into the restaurant wasn't obvious- had to be asked by a staff member to leave the area and go out the back door and wait to be seated. Not a big problem. It was busy but it wasn't full, I'd say about 70% capacity. Once seated waitress took our order, 2 coffees, scone and jam and soup of the day. The coffees and scone turned up quickly but waited about 25 minutes for the soup having asked two waitresses and finally a manager. The coffees, scone and soup were ok. It would appear there is a staffing issue. Without any fuss, the manager said I didn't have to pay for the soup, which was reasonable compensation for the long wait. It's a brilliant location and all in all, enjoyed being there but they need to quickly sort the staffing issue or whatever the problem is. Of course account has to be taken of the COVID-19 situation and staffing issues this brings. We're likely to do another walk soon and stop their again for lunch. I"m sure it will have improved by then.

There were only two types sandwich on offer so opted for egg, mayo and cress. The sandwich arrived dripping in mayo. I estimate half an egg was used and teaspoon of cress. I asked for more cress, came back with another teaspoon added. Was that a joke? All I could taste was mayo, it was disgusting value for money at nearly £4. I suggest whoever cobbles these sandwiches together looks how other venues make them, with the proper amount of filling.

Rubbish, overpriced food, would have been better off going to Iceland for a ready meal. Ordered two hot dogs costing £7.50 each which consisted of one of those nasty frankfurters you get in a jar, the sort you don't need any teeth to eat, lying limply in a cardboard white bun. Nachos, costing another £7.50 were drowning in that cheese squeezed out of a bottle. Not even the wine could save the day - another £6.50 down the drain on some nasty plonk. Gutted, looks like a lovely place to dine; shame the food doesn't match up to the venue.

Visited here on a Sunday for some lunch. The place was very busy (which can be expected on a sunny Sunday) which unfortunately affected the overall service. Whilst stood outside queuing, a member of staff came out and advised the girl on the door to let people know there’s no Sunday lunch left (as early as 14:00) However, this was ignored and no one was told. When seated we had to wait 15 minutes to even be served. When we finally had our order taken, we queried about the Sunday lunch and the server didn’t seem to have a clue. We then waited a further 20 minutes just for our drinks. The food once it arrived was ok, but not worth the wait. The menu could benefit from more vegetarian options also, as this was very limited. The place has potential to be great, but seemed far off the mark on Sunday. They could benefit from more staff at busier times to meet customer demands and also more stock for a Sunday lunch!

Myself and my best friend went for a walk and stopped for a black coffee, cup of tea and two pieces of cakes. We waited for 40 minutes for our drinks and the cake never turned up. We asked the staff 3 times of which they still never got us anything. They never apologised and when I asked the manager for an up date she was extremely abrupt and ignored me. Everyone there was complaining about the service and the delay of drinks despite there being enough staff for one staff member per table. An elder man was waiting for 20 minutes for a folk until we gave him ours. Another couple behind us waited 35 minutes for their salads then waited a further 30 minutes to pay. Another table of 2 men had finished their cakes before they received their flat whites. Staff did not apologise and were all standing by the coffee machine talking. Really bad experience compared to the very long queue in the take out coffee shop that had brilliant coffee with a friendly and speedy service. Although slightly disappointed they didn’t have the cakes that they had in the restaurant. Advice for anyone who goes - DONT!or go for dinner and arrive by 11am to be served for 5pm. Impolite staff, unwelcoming. We realise Covid 19 restrictions mean our restaurants and cafes are working in challenging circumstances but this does not excuse rudeness by staff. We were castigated for daring to sit down without waiting for a server to direct us where to sit, a requirement of which we were entirely unaware. We are sorry we mistakenly sat down, but how were we to know we were expected to wait outside? No one was visibly on duty at the entrance, and we saw no clear signage asking us to wait. The service continued in a rather cold and unprofessional manner. When we asked why we had received only one small pot of cream with our order of two scones, we were again rudely told we were expected to share the single pot provided! All in all a rather unpleasant experience, with some rude and disrespectful serving staff. Virginia waters park - lovely. Restaurant - What a disappointment. A clear example of profit before service, quality and experience. Went for lunch with my 7 year old daughter who was as ever awesome! The menu on the other hand, was entirely unappealing for lunch (pizza, burgers, caesar salad at £11…oh and add a slice of chicken for another £4….). ‘Sandwich of the day’ - either tuna or egg mayonnaise. If you think of high margin low quality food, it’s on the menu. I ordered the ‘chicken goujons’ for my daughter and burger for me and a latte to wash down such a gastronomic delight!!! Goujons arrived quickly - as there were only 2 of them - obviously couldn’t have taken long to cook!! Burger was MIA! To be fair I had ‘most’ of the latte in my cup, perhaps just a few % of the volume on the saucer and spoon with the foam akin to blob of scum floating in a harbour!! Pedantic perhaps - but it’s a warning sign of care and attention. Ie there wasn’t any! Waiters/resses service was styled off ‘the walking dead’ (other pointless zombie shows are available to view…) with a bunch of them wondering aimlessly around the dining hall. Probably the only way to cope with the low standards and push for profit profit profit! Ended up paying and walking out without my order as my daughter had finished hers without mine being delivered. As awesome as my daughter is, she’s not renown for being a fast eater…The neighbouring tables who arrived after us seemed equally as depressed as I began to feel wondering what they had done to deserve such poor service and food - but they did manage to chew uncomfortably on their lunch options. Uncomfortably as a table of 2 had to call the waitress over (I was jealous as they seemed to not be as invisible as my daughter and I!) to ask genuinely where the dressing was on their thoroughly overpriced salad leaves! Another table asking how many goujons were on my daughters plate as they couldn’t believe they too had just 2! I was reassured by this table that I wasn’t missing anything as they reported their sandwich was terrible! To ensure this is a balanced review, it should be noted that we didn’t have to queue for a table. But I guess once bitten and all that! Sadly, there was no apology from the ‘customer service’ staff / waiters. Had to laugh as when they brought the card machine over it had ‘would I like to leave a gratuity?’ That’s a ‘hell no’ in case there is any confusion to my experience! I would have stayed to make more of a complaint but given the parking charge massive hike over the last couple of years, I didn’t want to risk a mortgage payment to stay and chat! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!Advice to management - think about the customer experience. Get your team to work as one. Handing the batton over from one to another if needed, get some energy and enthusiasm for what they’re there to do. Instill an ‘I care’ attitude and pride - even a smile or some form of customer friendliness!! Perhaps checking in with customers ensuring all is ok. It’s not difficult with the right leadership!! Think about putting some lunch items on the menu that differentiates the premium experience I think your looking to deliver. In summary, put some effort in!

It is a few years since we last visited this restaurant but as we were passing on our walk today we thought we would visit for a coffee and scone. We hadn’t realised that it would take nearly nearly 50 minutes even though it was far from busy. Plenty of staff but terrible service.Serving staff did not seem to have any particular area of the restaurant to serve. After a few minutes we managed to give our simple order. A coffee, tea and a scone with butter. After 20 minutes others who had arrived after us had received their orders and some were about to leave. Guests at a nearby table pointed this out to the member of staff when their order arrived. That person looked at us and walks away. After attracting another member of staff we asked what was happening to our order. 10 minutes later our drinks finally arrived, but no scone. We pointed this out but it took another 5 minutes for the wrong food order to arrive at our table and another few minutes for this to be corrected. However the real shock was to be charged of £4.10 for a single scone and two butters. Since we did not want the clotted cream and jam that was on the menu, but asked if we could have the scone and butter we assumed that we would not be charged the full price. Having said that the staff were so disorganised we don’t suppose the person would gave us the bill had any idea of what we had originally ordered since this whole process involved 5 different members of equally clueless staff. So our quick stop turned into a 50 minute fiasco. Never to be repeated. If you want to be ripped off and have a lot of time on your hands a visit may be worthwhile.

I am afraid that long experience has left me with low expectations from the catering in popular 'attractions', so I was pleasantly surprised with the food quality of the lunch we had at the Savill Garden Cafe. The prices are a little on the high side, but that is normal for places with a captive market. My partner and I both enjoyed a tasty burger, although I was baffled as to why her chicken one was served with fries and a tasty slaw but my beef one only had fries. The food was served hot and although the kitchen was obviously busy, the wait was not excessive. Our friendly young waitress was very genial and her cheerful demeanour made us feel very welcome. We did not have a dessert (no starters are offered here) but just tea/coffee afterwards as we both found the burgers very filling!

Excellent Cumberland sausage, two spot on poached eggs on toast, lovely tasty sliced mushrooms, good bacon, hash brown, baked beans and tomato - all one of the best breakfasts we have had for a long time.Would not hesitate to return - especially for the breakfast!,

A group of us visited Savill Gardens today and initially intended to eat here. However, having read recent reviews we decided to walk down to the Wheatsheaf and are glad we did. We stopped in Saville Gardens kitchen for coffee and had a long wait (it wasn’t busy). Nobody was sitting inside, so it was seated table only service, outside only but they didn’t have any tables outside for 8 so we were obliged to sit at 2 separate tables. We returned for tea later. Service was really slow and half our group at one table had finished their drinks before we’d even been served with ours. The only thing they are quick about is asking you to scan the track and trace QR code!

I was here around 2.45 - so in theory after the lunch time 'rush.' I ordered soup and a roll plus a cold drink. You would have thought 15 minutes tops - after 25 minutes I asked the waitress where my food was. She apologised and said she would find out. After about another 10 minutes a waiter came along with soup and a roll - a very small, anaemic looking thing (advertised as freshly baked, I think not!). I asked where my drink was he said he would check. Then the waitress came along with another bowl of soup - again no drink. I said I had the soup now, just waiting for the drink. She then came along with a glass and the wrong drink.I am sorry but how easy should it be?To be fair she didn't charge me for the drink and offered a free slice of cake. That was a nice gesture but I am afraid I will think twice at least before eating here. And FYI - you cannot bring food into Savill Garden so the Kitchen pretty much has a captive audience !

very slow service waited 20 minutes for a coffee, and 40 minutes for a cold pain au chocolate! informed the wait staff who said they would talk to the manager, but obviously, no one cared and we were just handed the bill without at least an apology or an explanation as to how a pastry takes 40 minutes to prepare - surely you just put it on a plate and serve?

Popped in for a coffee and cake. The food was really lovely. However it took over 30 minutes for staff to seat us and take our order. And a mistake on our bill, they tried to charge us for someone else's food, took time to sort out. Result was we went over 1 hour in the car park by 4 minutes.....£6.00 to park our car. Waiting staff do work hard, but people get ignored or forgotten about. We saw an elderly couple leave fed up of waiting. And why are staff constantly passing us with washing up bowls piled with dirty crockery - why not get them trolleys to make their work easier & more efficient.A real shame.

I can’t express highly enough, the professionalism of the Manager heading this beautiful eatery & his young staff. A mainly young team but so courteous & friendly, the food is scrumptious & there is something for everyone. Thank you Peter for creating a great atmosphere & training your young staff to such a high standard.

Our first visit to the gardens and fancied a bit of lunch afterwards. It was a warm day so most people were sat outside. We didn't wait long to be seated at 1pm (around 10 people ahead of us) even though most tables outside were taken. Everything was table service still but we didn't wait long to be given menus, for our order to be taken or to get the bill and pay, unlike others. The service was friendly and efficient. I think a couple more staff may have helped make it a little better but I'd be knit picking if I complained for that. We were content to sit and enjoy looking out at the gardens. We don't generally expect much of this kind of place but we were pleasantly surprised. We had a pizza, salad and chips and they were all well prepared and tasty. It was all better than expected and above average for a restaurant attached to an attraction of this type. We were full after lunch otherwise we'd have tried one of the ice cream sundaes we saw going past us to others as those look amazing!

Yesterday I visited the The Potting Shed - One of the ladies that served me was lovely but unfortunately her service was overshadowed by her colleague who was rude and miserable. Anyone would have thought I was asking her to do me a favour by actually serving me. I ordered 3 toasties and had to ask for a bag, I had to ask for sugar for my coffee and napkins which wouldn't have been a problem if I wasn't met with such dirty looks (the face mask didn't cover enough of her face to hide them). Even my young daughters commented how rude she was when we walked away. Do yourself a favour and give her some customer service training.

Having been coming regularly to Saville Gardens/Windsor Gt Park for many many years the cafe has always been pretty good, good coffee and lovely cakes. But not today. My friend and I ordered, on a recommendation from our waitress, an apple cake with berries. Looked great, but the texture was very weird, gritty and grainy very unpleasant. Was this a gluten free option I wonder? Shame spoiled our visit especially after queuing.

Having queued for 25mins, when it was our turn to be seated just after 11 am !, we were bluntly told they were serving lunches only and not seating customers who just want tea and cake. The staff could have easily clarified this to those queuing. A few others queuing behind us left on hearing this. I would like to point out that the sign at the front entrance does not clearly state lunches only.

Appalling treatment towards my elderly mother and myself - having obeyed COVID procedures by signing in and wearing masks - I’d mistakenly helped myself to cutlery that was placed on a table close to the signing in table - an aggressive female Manager then leapt towards us and within 50cm began shouting told us to get out and informed us both we would not be served as we hadn’t followed Covid procedures - this was untrue; unfortunately for both my mother and myself the young polite waitress who had previously been guiding us through the Covid procedure was reluctant to defend us from her aggressive Manageress . I do not recommend visiting this Restaurant. Very poor standard of customer service from the Manager.

My friend an I wanted to sit outside for a coffee and arrived at 11.15 to be told that only people having lunch could sit outside even though we could see plenty of free tables and people drinking coffee or tea, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a coffee where we would like to sit at coffee time!!! Last time we went we were informed that we could only sit outside up to 11.30 and my husband and I only last week had a coffee outside at gone 12. Make your minds up!! It is totally tiresome and completely illogical and it does not make you feel at all welcome. My friend and I are of the age where we wished to socially distance in the open air. Visited yesterday. Had a lovely long walk with a friend. Beautiful surroundings. Deliberately didn't take my dog as wanted to treat my friend to afternoon tea and cake on the terrace. Arrived at just after 3 and no queue to be refused entry if not having lunch. At 3.05pm? Was told be the female member of staff to get our drinks and cake at the kiosk entrance. Queued for a considerable time and struggled for a table. As a long standing member it was not the experience I was looking for, and clearly it was more about the money we were potentially going to spend on the terrace. Shame.

We visited the gardens on Thursday afternoon. We were unprepared as you have to pre-book tickets online before arrival so quickly did this on our phones and showed the code at the ticket desk. It felt very Covid-safe with helpful staff, screened ticket desk/shop till and sanitiser stations. The gardens themselves were lovely. The summer garden in full bloom was spectacular. There weren't many visitors so social distancing was easy when we came across anyone. We went to the outdoor cafe for lunch. The tables are well spaced out and sanitised between visitors. The staff wore masks and gloves and it was table service only and contactless payment. The menu was limited to sandwiches, salads, pizzas and cake but very nice.Overall we felt safe and welcome and the gardens are beautiful. £12 online adult ticket for all day access and parking included.

My husband and I booked tickets to visit the Savill Gardens on Sunday 12 July, the weather was glorious so we had a lovely time wandering around the gardens. I had checked the website for information about food beforehand, and it said the Kitchen was still closed. However, after our walk, we saw a queue forming for the restaurant on the terrace so decided to join it. The staff were really friendly and efficient with getting people seated quickly and safely. Despite the warm weather, we decided to sit inside, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves! Very peaceful! The service was friendly and fast, and the food was delicious. We ordered and ham & cheese baguette, and a tuna mayo sandwich, which both came with chips and salad. We also ordered two soft drinks, and the total came to £21. Really not bad value at all, considering how much food there was!I wanted to leave a review because we were both so impressed with how well the restaurant was running considering the circumstances.

I've visited Savill Gardens often, and eaten in their restaurant most times. This was the most inedible yet. It was an open steak sandwich with my favorite cut, flat iron. The steak was full of gristle and the bun was like cardboard. The coleslaw was supposed to be spicy, it was not, there were no steak knives available so I asked at the counter. Telling the young lady that my steak was extremely tough and could I have a steak knife was told, we don't have steak knives. With that she turned away completely uninterested in my dinning experience. Such a pity.

In a triumph of hope over experience we tried this restaurant once more. Baked cannelloni was a mean portion for £12.75. Chalky textured layer of spinach and ricotta with sharp industrial tomato sauce. ‘Classic’ Sunday roast (£14) was advertised as chicken. They must have run out as what arrived was gammon, unappetisingly dry and grey after sitting under the heat lamp too long. This seemed to me to be a risky substitute. Not exactly welcome if you are Jewish or Muslim

Lovely gardens and lovely location but unfortunately the restaurant food standards are very low.My boyfriend ordered the beef pie, firstly it wasn't really a pie, more like beef stew with bits of pastry mixed in. I’m a regular coffee shop user but, after several weeks of really poor experiences I’m seriously thinking of ending my membership. Stale food, poor choice after 14:30, tepid coffee (or half a cup of froth), dirty tables which you often have to clear yourself to get a seat, lemon cake (used to be excellent) is now an over-baked, hard, dry lump, butter pats stored on the warm top of the refrigerated cabinet, often no plates or trays available. Get a new baker and some extra staff - it would be a cleaner, nicer experience. The one star is for a couple of the counter staff who are genuinely caring and lovely.

We visited after a long walk around Virginia Water and were surprised to find that dogs were not permitted in the building which ruined our plans for a good lunch. My husband visited with my daughter and found that service could have been better. There are not as many cakes on offer as their used to be and some of the tables could do with a good wipe down. The Savill Garden is well worth a visit but sadly their 'Kitchen' is not which is unfortunate as being part of The Crown Estate they have a captive market meaning there are no alternative eateries. We visited as a family, 4 adults & 2 children, on a busy Saturday after Christmas & the place was extremely busy meaning the wait for food was 30 minutes which given the number of people was reluctantly accepted. The varied menu included a selection of wood-fired pizza's from which we chose 3 Margherita's described as mozzarella, napolitano sauce & fresh basil. They weren't particularly big & cost £9.75 each but sadly showed no sign of any basil fresh or otherwise - very disappointing as the 3 cost £29.25. Our other meals included a beef burger, chicken burger & a mezzo platter all of which were described as just ok. Together with 3 lattes & 3 soft drinks the bill came to £84 plus the £7.50 for a little over 2 hours in the car park which we thought was a lot.

We visited here on a Sunday lunchtime and managed to fluke a table. We crammed 6 adults and 6 kids around two tables designed for 4-6 adults. Food was taking 30 minutes from the time of order, which was carefully communicated to us before we ordered. My wife had soup and bread, kids had pizza and chicken burger, and I opted for a superfood salad, which I added salmon to for an extra £2. My salad was unfortunately very bland, and a bit “wet”. The salmon fillet was cold and smoked. It wasn’t what I expected. I wasn’t overly upset, more disappointed. With the added coffee the bill was £35, and this was for two adults and two kids.

After experiencing an enjoyable vegetarian cooked breakfast a couple of months ago I treated a very good friend to join me for a Christmas breakfast after a walk. I again chose the vegetarian full cooked breakfast, my friend chose the eggs Benedict. When our food arrived it was briskly served on cold plates. All 4 of our eggs were very over cooked (I would describe mine as hard boiled). No excuse for that apart from sheer laziness. The mushrooms on my plate were the pre packed and pre sliced variety. Very disappointing indeed. It is very difficult to complain when you are treating a friend. The food should be more consistent in quality and standard, especially for the prices charged. Shame.

We visited yesterday and were shocked by the hygiene of the potting shed coffee shop. The front of the coffee machine was covered in a veneer of dirt and when I peeked around behind the machine, it was filthy with unwashed glasses and dirty rags in the drip tray. To top it off, when we were leaving the gardens, the guy behind the counter was busy cleaning the bottom of his shoes with some blue rag. I did raise this with the main staff at the venue and hopefully something will be done about it before public health get involved.

(This was after I stood awkwardly at the entrance, and was ignored by the manager). However, I was really disappointed with the so-called “superfood salad. I chose this as a healthy option, but it was little more than a pile of white cabbage swimming in a sea of vinegary dressing. I definitely wouldn’t order that again. I ate most of it because I was hungry, but regretted it later.

My friend based in London had been a few times and had always put the amazing beer garden on her socials, so when I came to visit I asked if we could go and I was not disappointed, the garden is beautiful, the river, flowers, food, pub and them roast potatoes and lamb shank WOW. We even joked I would travel the 4 hours just to come again. Staff were friendly and understood when I didn't want something on the plate and all 4 meals came out super quick and correct. I asked for no cabbage or green beans and without even asking the kitchen gave me an extra Yorkshire to fill my plant which is a first for me from a pub. Only downside was the parking, waited for a space for 10 mins and gave up so had to drive down the road, feel its important to mention as we nearly drove off and went somewhere else. Tried the coop carpark but you only get 45mins but again I understand, cant just create space. 100% would go again. perfect ended to an already great weekend.
