Don’t leave reviews usually but felt like I had too as this place is closing and wanted to share how much fun we had. We attended a brunch here on a Saturday afternoon and it was great fun! Better than others in the city, the venue is so pretty and the music was great. Such a shame it’s leaving us, we would love to have come back!

Incredibly mediocre for the price, food was very average 🤷‍♂️ service was fine

So sad that this place is closing - this was the best, including the Ritz, afternoon tea we have ever had. I would highly recommend a visit but you’ll have to quick as it closes on 23/3/25 😭

Good food for the price! However, would say it is more of a venue for drinks or parties... Dining area is small and quite on top of each other and music from bar or parties downstairs was louder in the dining area than elsewhere! This was a shame as we found we were having to shout to hear each other when eating, and couldn't comfortably enjoy your food without feeling like you were in a nightclub :( Would definitely return for just drinks - but not a sit down meal again.

The food took way too long to come and the staff was very rude. It was my friend’s bday party and she was enquiring about the food that hadn’t come yet as we had a train to catch and the waiting staff accused her of being aggressive and gave us weird looks all night. The whole experience was disappointing and I would not recommend this place. Also there was no complimentary service, happy bday song or anything special for her bday, despite us making a bday booking a month in advance. Overall just a bad experience.

It was my birthday, I have sent a pre booked menu 3 weeks beforehand for 11ppl. On the day two of the meals were 30 minutes late, I set at the table watching others eat on my birthday without a meal. Once my food came everyone was already done so I had to rush and not fully enjoy. My friend’s main was not even on the list so she waited for 40 minutes for her food to come, even though i submitted the form, so the mistake was not on our side. I was then called aggressive when I confronted the service which was an amazing birthday present considering I didn’t even got told happy birthday by the service, there was no acknowledgment that it was a celebration. It did not feel special at all. The woman with short black curly hair, was not professional , called me aggressive and stared us down while we were leaving. Very disappointed. Do better.

Would like to say a massive thankyou to the staff. We booked a private party for my daughter’s hen party and ordered food from their buffet menu. The food we received was really fresh high quality and very tasty. The service we received from the manager and staff was very courteous and friendly. Would very much recommend to everyone

Just enjoyed lunch for friends birthdays, service was great, our waitress was lovely and welcoming, had 2 courses for £20 and they were both delicious, the cocktails were very yummy too, will definitely be back to try their afternoon tea.

Interior muy bien decorado. El personal era agradable y servicial, la comida era mejor que la comida de bar promedio, aunque pensé en el precio excesivo. El principal problema para nosotros fue la mesa en la que nos pusieron. Estaba en el centro del restaurante en la pared trasera con una puerta al lado que conduce a la zona del bar y era terriblemente calado. La mesa se colocó frente a la pared trasera con una pasarela para el personal entre la caja y dicha puerta justo detrás de nuestros asientos, por lo que dos de nuestros miembros del grupo tenían personal caminando detrás de ellos constantemente. Pedimos movernos, pero no pudimos ya que las mesas estaban todas llenas. Si volviera a ir, y lo volvería a visitar porque pasamos un rato agradable, solicitaría una cabina y no una mesa en el centro del restaurante.

Private party for a baby shower, fantastic service all round!

Had a 3 course meal and a lager each one of the courses were great. I'm vegetarian, and the tastes were amazing. The chef is obviously very talented 👏.. The staff are really good and the girl who was my server was fantastic... 10 out of 10 the all-around experience was fabulous 👌

We had our Engagement Party in the Eva Rose Garden. We had the blossom buffet was which was delicious, and the bar staff were really friendly and attentive. Alice who organised our event was also fabulous, she was super friendly, quick at responding and very accommodating! Would highly recommend :)

Came here after theatre for restaurant week where 2 courses were £15. We had signed up with them so also got a free gin cocktail and £5 off so well chuffed! Place isn't huge but cosy with boothes aswell as seating in the centre. He had the crispy spiced beef then chicken gyros and I chose salmon rosti then sea bass and bean cassoulet. All very tasty and the gyros especially was a very good size 🐖 . Service was excellent and we will definitely come again

I went to a baby shower here and found the ambience,and amazing staff were very helpful and service very good as its a very popular place .The food was delicious and very enticing all in all a fab afternoon mocktails were great too

I came here on Friday to celebrate my friends 30th birthday and despite having several food allergies the service was absolutely brilliant. The chef took the time to come out to speak with me and created me an absolutely beautiful meal - thank you so much!!

bottomless brunch not worth it, small plates were tiny and most of them stone cold. Prawn was chewy and had a funny taste aswell as the calamari. One waitress was extremely unwelcoming and didn’t even speak when she was serving food.

First time at thus venue for bottomless brunch me & my 3 friends had such an amazing time. Mostly due to our server. So she needs a goo big up. You are amazing Alex !!

Mi hermana y yo estábamos visitando Newcastle para ver Les Mis y googleado para un lugar para tomar el té de la tarde como un regalo para los dos. Vi Leila Lily’s e inmediatamente me encantó el menú de té de la tarde y el aspecto del lugar. No nos decepcionó. Este fue uno de los mejores tés de la tarde que hemos tomado. Ambiente encantador y personal atento

Buenas opciones en el menú y buena comida de calidad a precios razonables. Muy altos márgenes en algunas de las opciones de vino, pero no puede quejarse demasiado en los precios generales. El servicio aquí es excelente.

Tuvimos nuestro evento social de trabajo de Año Nuevo aquí en la sala Eva Rose. La habitación en sí era preciosa y encajamos 34 de nosotros en muy bien. El personal era servicial y Alice era muy servicial, amable y es un mérito para el equipo. La comida era preciosa.

Burger was 80% pink and chewy, cocktails were mostly ice. Wait times for service was long even though the resturant only had two other tables in that had already been served. However staff were very lovely.

Had our Christmas 3 course here. Very disappointed crab and prawn starter was tiny main course very small and turkey felt like it had been cooked for hours tasted dry and cheap. Cheese board was the only thing I wasn't disappointed in. Won't be booking again. Also put in a table in the bar with people crowding you. £35 each no expensive but not worth that.

Food was bland and cold, chicken gyros was not a gyros in any way shape or form, poorly seasoned PINK chicken! With a allergy, I was handed the wrong food then asked if it was OK to let them know if I have any problems - the problem being me in the back of an ambulance if given the wrong food, and they had no clue if I was given the correct food! Service was terrible, attitude of staff even worse!

We had the festive afternoon tea for £27 pp and although it was ok I would say that the scones were very dry and the jam was like cheap jelly. The atmosphere was ok nothing really Christmassy but it was the service that was just weird, the girl must have asked 10 times if we were ordering more drinks, took half the plates away while some of us were still eating then brought the bill and stood rudely over us with the card machine and when I said Im just checking the bill 1st thanks she pulled a face like it was an inconvenience and continued to stand with the card machine! We felt rushed even though it was empty and we had the table booked for 2 hours and we were well under the allocated time. I wouldn’t rush back sorry

Lovely decor, friendly staff, good cocktails. But the afternoon tea was massively overpriced for what we got. One small pot of tea (no offer of a second, or maybe a coffee later on), a very random mix of savoury stuff and an even more random range of sweet stuff. Loved the beef roll, but tiny cheese & coleslaw sandwiches in cheap white bread - really?!

I really rate this place having been several times and I would go back however I was extremely disappointed on 2nd November when we had food here (Chicken Gyros & French Fries) that I felt the need to mention to the waitress how very very and I mean very over salted the food was. The chicken was over salted the halloumi which is salted anyway had been salted and the fries were super salty to the extent I couldn’t eat all of the food it was sodium overload on another level. The waitress said I’ll let the kitchen know and that was it took my food away we paid the bill in full which did leave an even saltier taste in my mouth but didn’t want to cause a scene with my dinner guest and spent all Sunday morning throwing up! 100% salt overload it’s all I could taste during this event lots of yellow bile so please if someone could inform the kitchen cook on that evening they need to know seasoning is key and should perhaps taste his/hers food before sending it out! Keep the salt box away from this person for a while! It has put me off coming back anytime soon but other that this episode Leila lily's is a great all round place to come that does a tasty afternoon tea and superb cocktails!

Food very average, a bit disappointing. Squid was very rubbery and the duck was chewy. The waitress was nice and service was quick, But what let it down was the attitude of the manager Chelsea. Very rude and unhelpful. It ruined a birthday meal out.

Excellent Sunday lunch. 3 courses for £25. Tasty, well cooked and presented. Great personal service. Only slight niggle is it is a small area so noise from a party carried. But didn't spoil the enjoyment of our meal. Definitely go back.

Review for 26/9/24 visit Visited here for a afternoon tea for my partners birthday, I was draw to this place as they afternoon tea offered “lunch bites” as well as the standard items which worked for what I needed that day. To start with them the mini fish cakes and sausage rolls were fantastic and so tasty! The other items being sandwiches and cakes were also fab! The scones were freshly prepared and warm which made them even more spectacular. We had CHELSEA as our host and she was fab , was happy to speak , dicuss the reasons behind the drinks and items served and just generally a great person, thank you for your service that day. It was modern but still held traditions of what a cream tea is. Venue: clean and well presented/ decorated , reason for 4 star atmosphere was no other guests present and no music, no comment on toilets did not used Staff: 5 * easy Food and kitchen: 5* Suggestions : More selection of sandwiches and more plain options Teapot nice and matched table wear but spoilt easily Outside : the venue was discussing that they are missed on such a busy street , they have a lovely floral design but there outdoor seating is confusing, the poles and sanctions are supplied by Moretti and are a deep navy blue personally I think this distracts from the design that they’re going for and actually does not match the quality that they’re offering on the inside personally get them gone and changed for your floral design! Gold poles to match!! Overall will go back but more locals need to visit!

Cocktails and drinks were lovely as were the staff. Unfortunately the restaurant was disappointing. Our waitress was lovely but our food was warm and the fries cold. The waitress did replace the fries and deducted 20% off the bill. Having read previous reviews which were good, maybe we were unlucky and got Chef on an off day. Very disappointed with our experience here.

I recently hosted a Wonderland themed networking event at Leila Lily's on 18th September, and I couldn’t be more impressed! The venue was stunning, with beautiful décor that perfectly complemented our theme, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. The canapés and themed mocktails were a hit with our guests, and the overall atmosphere was fantastic. Thank you to Alice Middleton and the team for making our event such a success—Leila Lily's is the perfect spot for any special occasion!

I do not recommed this place! 3 rd time i came in ,everytime to give it another chance… Every time we came in they eighter didn t have half of the things from the food menu or the drinks we wanted. The food takes ages to come,even tho every time we came the restaurant was empty… For the prices ,thinks should be different! Total joke…

3rd time we come to this establishment for dinner, 3rd time we have a shocking experience. Half of the items on the menu are not available, and after 50 minutes of waiting our mains we are told it will “not be very long” as “there was a mixup in the kitchen”. I mean there was only us 2 and another table for 2 in the whole restaurant. If the chef cant cook 4 meals in less than an hour, why is he even working in a restaurant? We would have had the time to drive to tesco, buy some veg and meat, drive home, cook our meal, eat it and go sit on the sofa within the 1 hour we had to wait for 2 burgers. Pathetic. Shame that the place looks really nice, its the only good thing about this place. Would only recommend it to someone I hate to ruin their night.

Me and my partner have recently visited Leila Lilly’s yesterday where we have booked the afternoon tea, the experience was not what I expected, it was well below my expectations. When we arrived to the restaurant there was no one to greet and sit us, we had to look for a member of staff around the bar area to help us out. When we finally got sat at our table we have requested to substitute some of the dishes on the menu, as we eat halal meat only and when we both asked for the substitutes only one of us got the afternoon tea per our request we had to call the waitress to rectify this, because she only brought out one which was halal and the other one wasn’t. After waiting for a further half an hour we received the afternoon tea stands back, but the afternoon tea was now missing scones so we had to ask why they were missing, so we had to ask the waitress again which she took the afternoon tea back again, After a long while we received them back but by that time, no tea was offered to us, I had to call the waitress again and ask if the tea was included as it stated at the time of the booking, which it was and only after mentioning this the waitress asked what we would like, by the time the tea arrived we were half way through the afternoon tea. Then the food itself was very disappointing, the fried food such as fish cake, falafels were overly oily and we couldn’t really eat them as they were awful. We picked at them and left the rest. The cakes were dry, the macaron was really hard and plastic, the cheesecake cup was very sugary no other flavour, the scone was dry, it had to be possibly the worst afternoon tea we have ever had. We won’t be returning unfortunately.

We held an event for 18 people in the Eva-Rose Garden private dining room, with adjoining bar, for our wedding anniversary and it was simply perfect! The room is absolutely stunning! Brooke was excellent in the planning stages, with great communication and everybody who was working during the evening were great and everything ran smoothly. The food and drinks were all lovely and everybody had a great night. I would 100% recommend Leila Lily’s for a private dining experience.

Friendly waitress but that was the only positive. Been here many a time and it seems food quality going downhill. It used to be so good and different. Feels like a steady decline and no thought put into plates of food we were given (lunchtime 3 small plates each). My crispy prawns were wet inside the coating so not sure they were cooked through-served with a salad leaf or two at side of plate. Salt and pepper squid very chewy and small-served with a salad leaf or two on the side! The potato bravas was a bowl of what tasted like boiled potatoes covered in some sauce-no heat no crispness to the potatoes. I left most of them. I remember having the best halibut I’ve ever tasted here, along with lovely roasted artichokes. It’s dumbed down so much. It just feels now that the food is churned out with no care or passion Not sure we’ll go again.

A friend and I visited on Monday for afternoon tea and a glass of Prosecco each. While the food was good and it was nice to see some savouries, there were a few little niggles which detracted from an otherwise good experience. The tea came before the Prosecco. The latter should really be served first as an aperitif. The china was basically matte finish pottery. My cup was so stained I had to ask for another ( which wasn’t a lot better). And finally ( & I see someone else has already mentioned this) why serve a dessert in a narrow glass with a dessert spoon which is too wide to go in? On the plus side, the cocktails afterwards were lovely!

What a fantastic morning at Leila Lily's. Over 70 people attend such a beautiful city centre venue. I would recommend this place for any type of event, wherever it's business or pleasure, it's a gem in the heart of the city. I've been a couple of times on night outs, and the drinks selection is amazing, especially the fantastic cocktails. I will definitely be back. All the staff were wonderful, especially Alice, who helped organise the business event. 10 out of 10 from me. David T

Was staying in the hotel and as was raining decided to eat at the joined restaurant and we are so glad we did, food was fantastic. We started sharing 3starters had the scollops, calamari and mussels all perfectly cooked and seasoned, great way to start. We both ordered from the grill a pork t-bone and a rump steak again cooked spot on and the garnishes were lovely also. We finished with the lemon meringue cheesecake which was beautifully presented and tasted stunning and a cheese board which my partner really enjoyed. Staff were lovely and attentive without being over bearing, restaurant was very attractive and clean with nice ambience. Would definitely recommend and would visit again.

Great bar and lounge to have an early evening midweek drink.

Not been for over a year but went with friends as we have had such good experiences in the past. However, not sure what has happened but not usual standard. Food was over-seasoned - too much salt and garlic - and overcooked. My scallop starter was well-overcooked and chewy in a salty oily sauce. This was taken off the bill but I would have preferred to pay for a nice one. My husband asked for a medium cooked steak that was very well done. Mains of ravioli had so much garlic in it, we could still taste it the next day. 2 bottles of wine, plonked on the table with no option of trying or even asking us if we wanted the bottles opening. It is such a lovely venue, I hope they get back on track with their food.

Booked Leila Lily's for a Hen Party with 31 guests with the lovely Alice. From arrival we were provided a private drinks area, then on to the restaurant for a beautiful meal (served relatively quickly with the size of our party) and then on to the Eva Rose Garden for a Cocktail Making Masterclass. Being there from around 3.30pm until late, we were looked after at every point. Every staff member was so helpful and made our day/evening a great success. Would highly recommend. Thanks everyone who made my friends Hen night a memorable one 🎉❤ x

My sister was very unwell after possibly being spiked in another bar, Julie the manager who at the time was off shift looked after her thoroughly until we could get there to help her, she even brought us water and mints for her which is a small gesture but went a long way and we are very thankful for her helpfulness

last night I waited over 15 minutes to be served at the bar. staff served everyone else but me. asked if I was being served, said no and bar tender walked away and served someone else. tried to get their attention several times and was competing ignored. ended up leaving. won't be going back.

Expensive for what you get. Had afternoon tea nothing was fresh, hard scones and sandwiches. Wouldn’t recommend!!

I came to the place to smoke hookah. It's better not to order a hookah, it's very sad. But given that there are very few of them in the city, hopefully the potential will be there. The service is excellent, the food was not surprising. If you smoke hookah you will be taken to a not very beautiful place, after which you don't want to smoke or eat.

Ordered 2 gyros kebab meals, both arrived lukewarm, no flavour to any of it just bland white chicken ,even mint cucumber sauce was tastless, young girl who served us was pleasant but would not return or recommend this place

Really hope you bring back the original afternoon tea... was looking forward to my birthday treat based off of the old menu. Such a let down to all of us when we saw the new one, I didn't eat much of it and it just didn't feel like an afternoon tea :( Birthday treat down the sink!

Fantastic evening with great food, I never experienced such of a lovely dinner with my partner definitely going back. The place it's beautiful inside and the staff are lovely and attentive, we didn't have to wait along time for our food and it was amazing 10/10 definetly having my baby shower party next month over there.

Me and my sister had afternoon tea which was delicious. A good selection of sandwiches and cakes. They also offered a good range of cocktails. Service was good and the setting was lovely.

Yesterday me and my wife we had dinner at Leila's and it was a perfect romantic experience not just because of the ambient and the lovely attentive staff but the food, one of the best meals we never had it's really worth it and the prizes were fair cant wait to be back. Thanks to head chef Gabriel and his team for the wonderful experience.

I had the pleasure of hosting my Bridal Shower in the Eva Rose Garden and Alice was excellent from start to finish. Great communication to set the event up and even came to check in on us on the day! So refreshing getting good customer service during stressful event planning and for it to flow so effortless through the full experience. I really recommend booking any special occasion here, the team couldn’t have done enough for me and my family!

On arrival, we received a lovely welcome and enjoyed a coffee before being seated for our afternoon tea. There is a bar area for enjoying a drink and restaurant area where we had our afternoon tea. All the staff we encountered during our visit were lovely - special mention to Brooke and Chelsea who took amazing care of us! And thank you for taking great photos of my mum and I during our visit. The afternoon tea itself was amazing. Beautifully presented and tasted great! It is soooo deceiving - we were both absolutely stuffed by the end of it all! Loved every part - so compliments to the chef for putting it altogether. The little ham hock cake was our favourite! It is also the first restaurant I have visited in a long time whereby there isn’t a service charge added to the bill! So hopefully staff still receive well deserved tips from visitors. Thank you for making our celebration an extra special one - we had a fabulous time and will highly recommend to others.

On Wednesday 3rd of April I had an afternoon tea at Leila Lily's and what a fantastic time everyone had. From the moment we walked in until the end, we were made welcome, the afternoon tea was delicious, the staff went over and above and the atmosphere was amazing. I would recommend Leila Lily's again and again and thank them all so much for making my birthday one I will always remember

Really tasty food and well designed interior. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Whilst food was well presented the portions were a bit small for the price. Only other problem for us was the level of noise meaning very hard to have a conversation as there was a live piano and also background music and we would have preferred the live piano

Food and drinks were lovely but the service was shocking from the start. Spoke with Manager who has a shockingly bad attitude and couldn't give a damn. Had to ask to get served drinks on arrival, waited about 10 min and then when it came to paying the bill, 20 min to get out as all servers disappeared and only had one young lady covering table service who had constant issues with bills. Would I come back? Don't think so which is a shame.

Went out for a family meal different ages. Forgot one of the meals, selection poor and over priced

Seems like a restaurant on the way down. Very few customers when other places were full. Starters were nice however the mussels came with a slice of a low price sliced white bread, which at the price point and on expectations seemed a bit of a joke. Mains were good and tasty, pie, burger and lamb being a hit, puddings we complained about. The texture of the cheesecake and also another mousse was just off putting. Terrible smell of drains around the toilet downstairs, not the restaurants fault as toilets were clean, but was off putting Staff were great and dealt with our complaints with puddings removed from the bill A bit of a let down overall and didn't meet expectations.

I had booked out the Eva rose garden for my 21 birthday and had been in regular contact with Alice. She thoroughly explained the room to me made sure I was happy and content with it all and the whole staff on the night were so friendly and helpful and ensured we all enjoyed ourself! The room was perfect and will definitely be back again

We only had drinks but they were very over priced and there was an awful drain smell in the place.

Arrived at restaurant with friends for afternoon tea, waited 20 mins before being asked for drinks order, then waited again to arrive. Admittedly 2 large groups in so expected slight delays. Food , sandwiches mediocre, you can tell when sandwiches have been left a while because one side of bread hard! The ham hock fritter was good though. Scones dry, but cream and jam ok . Tea was awful, first pot cold, and the second pot obviously used same tea bags and was so weak the tea was see through. Will definitely not return. I think there are far better places to choose from.

Great bar - restaurant in town centre. Food is always tasty. Do a lovely Sunday dinner. Cocktails are nice too! (2for£15)Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.

I booked a cocktail making master class for my friends 20th birthday, and we were looked after by the amazing Ryan. I cannot sing his praises enough, from start to finish he made the night so special and based on his customer service alone we will most definitely be returning soon!! Also special mention to the lovely Joseph who was also absolutely amazing all night.

Alice sorted us out with a cocktail class and buffet for a large group of us that were on a hen do. The bartender Joe was great and the cocktails were so good! The venue is beautiful and the food was really good too, we’d definitely recommend!

Food was excellent! Best duck pancakes we’ve ever had. Service was excellent waitress very friendly. Can’t wait to go back!

Duck sprig rolls starter was really good. Was presented really well! My 10oz Rump Steak was cooked to perfection! Service was fantastic all round. 50% off in January really made it that little bit better than it already was. Thanks guys

Great decor, service and food. Delighted to find choice of champagnes by the glass but the wine by the glass poor in comparison - only cheap choice of pinot Grigio, Chardonnay or Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. Wine by the bottle wide choice. Good cocktail menu.

Food was delicious, Josh was very helpful and attentive. Cocktails were fruity and packed a punch! Definitely recommend.

We went for afternoon tea for my Nannas birthday and I asked if they could put a candle in the deserts for a birthday surprise and they ended up brining out a separate desert with Happy Birthday on the plate and made it so special for her. The head chief even came out to wish her happy birthday and was so kind and we loved talking to him, all the other wait staff were amazing and lovely. The food we had was amazing and we had the best time, can’t thank all the staff enough

Wasn't pleased with the service. Dirty table, no water at table and when asked never got some. Very cold. Food was lovely but small. Vegetables was tiny potion of few broccoli to share between us?? Paid 100 something pounds for 2 mashed prawn starter (didn't make sense would have been better in a sandwich) 2 main meals (small rolled turkey breast in bacon, a tiny moonshape stuffin, 2 roast potatoes) small bowl of brocoli to share?? 2 icecream balls and 2 drinks. Wish the service was better as it is a good location. Would I come again? NO.

Great location in heart of Newcastle City centre. Food and service fantastic. Would have been 5 star but for the wine price... cheapest bottle £30..... in my opinion that is rip off territory.... Will we go back....not at that price for the wine.

Had a fab evening with work at Leila Lily's downstairs in the Eva Rose Garden for a Christmas Social. The staff accommodated all of our needs/requirements to ensure we enjoyed our evening. We opted for the festive canapes and they were all fantastic. Alice was absolutely brilliant and managed to fit us in rather last minute. She was super helpful providing me any information I needed and I even had the joy of meeting her as she came down to check everything was running smoothly. Would highly recommend using the venue and organising any event with Alice.
