Pricey, but good quality with very friendly staff.

This sandwich shop used to be brilliant but after the change of management it has really gone down hill. The food is delicious and the staff are amazing but the owner inflated the prices overnight! A panini now costs £6.00 after advertising £4.90 paninis literally 6 days ago (14th Aug) on their Facebook! You also have to pay for salad and toppings separately, now. It's £7.50 for a meal deal (sandwich drink and snack) when it used to be £5.20. They weren't strapped for cash either. People literally travel into town for their food and they have a 13-floor office building literally on their doorstep. The line for BAPS would be out the door and around the corner. SUBWAYS is cheaper than here.

I assume this place has been taken over ? Cheap coldslaw and no longer NHS Discount ...won't be back used to be brilliant such a shame

What a great sandwich place to go to, very impressed with the choice - probably close to 10 diffrent chicken choices alone. Had the roast beef sandwich which was really nice. Well fileld with delicious beef and fresh vegetables and a touch of horseradish. With a drink and crisps for just over 5 pounds. This is the place to go for lunch from now on!

Love the generous fillings for salads or sandwiches in here. Always friendly. Lots of choice and amazing tray bakes. Always busy which is a good sign.

Food is lovely enough! However, the prices are absolutely crazy!! Five pound for a sandwich meal deal (in small writing at the bottom of the poster) some fillings only. I haven't got time to stand and ask which fillings can I have or not? When I've bought a panini, a small can of pop and a kit kat - it comes to nearly £9. I've never known anything like it to be honest!

Canny sandwich shop great range very popular some of the lads off the building site across the road think it's a little pricey so there's an opportunity for a promotion if they want to make the most of the work thereabouts.

A little local secret... Hearty sandwiches from a lovely group of ladies. They switch up the sandwich specials regularly. You can get a sandwich, crisps and drink for £4.60 (surcharge for certain sandwiches). The breakfast options are great and they offer paninis if you want a hot lunch… plus they take card.

Disappointing in Covid times to see staff picking lettuce up with bare and not use tongs. Only one staff member did this. Not all of them may i add,

Fresh produce with staff that are friendly and their to help. They do a great meal deal for a bap, crisps and drink which is much better than something you can get at Tesco or Subway. Would 100% recommend trying Baps for your lunch break as it’s a gem in the heart of the town.

Fantastic place and worth the queue out the door. Join it, it moves fast!

Go to Greggs !! seriously £2.30 for a bacon bap!! Cheapest Bacon on a crappy roll! wouldnt return..not good

I have always enjoyed the jacket potatoes from Baps but noticed today that the staff handle the food wearing surgical gloves so you are given the impression that it is hygienic but then they proceed to take money and give change wearing the same gloves. Then they go on to serve the next customer touching the bread and salad etc with the money-contaminated-gloves. I won't be buying anything there again.

WAS... The best sandwich shop in the north east!... Shame they've changed the amount of filling they put in your sandwich.. I used to walk out with a 1kg sarnie, now it's like a basic sandwich from Asda. What a shame :(

There there is a small, older woman who always puts the smallest amount of filling in sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes. (I recently had a salad box from her that wasn't even half full!) She is also quite rude and very sullen! If you get served by her expect to be ripped off and hungry not long after. Used to be great, huge portions! Now its changed and not half as good.What a shame. Much better places to go.

Use this for sandwiches and have always been satisfied,today however was beening served by a nice elderly lady when she was spoken to by one of the staff which in my opinion was really upsetting to see,no one should have to put up with beening spoke to like this in there place of work.

We went to Baps today and asked for a Chilli Chicken Sandwich (which was clearly not Chilli Chicken) it tasted disgusting and dry. My friend got the coronation chicken and it was awful. We were regular BAPS goers... but wont be going back as this inst the first time we havent enjoyed it.

I am a regular patron. Very helpful engaging staff, good quality food and a wide range of fresh produce. Slightly expensive but worth it!

I'm not from the area so never used before but called in when passing this morning to grab a sausage sarnie. The sausages were dry to the point of being crunchy all the way through in places. They'd obviously been pre-cooked and kept warm (which is fine) but were either over-cooked in the first place or kept too hot so had continued cooking. My experience wasn't helped by the fact that the lady who served me was completely miserable and gave me the impression that it was an inconvenience having to serve me. I have to say the fresh/cold sandwich filings on display in the chiller looked very nice so perhaps I was just unlucky with my dry sausages. First impressions count though so won't be going back if I'm in the area again.

Good choice of fillings but I usually go for coronation chicken or bacon and brie in a ciabatta. Can't go wrong for £3-4. They even do a meal deal which includes sandwich, drink and a bag of crisps.

Love this place and come here often. However, there is a smaller, elderly woman who always puts the smallest amount of filling in sandwiches and jacket potatoes. When it's busy I have to try and avoid being served by her because the portion size ruins my lunch. Besides this she seems like a perfectly nice member of staff!

Best sandwich bar in Newcastle. Large portions and will keep even the biggest appetite happy. They make anything you request , I often go off menu and order my own favourite creation. Pastrami , roast beef and turkey with dill mustard pickle. Can't be beaten. Lovely ladies working there too. Always pleasant

Sandwiches here as so tasty and they definitely do not skimp on portion size, I got chicken tikka which was so tasty. Variety of options. Also the caramel slice was size of my hand!! Do yourself a favour and skip subway to come to this amazing place with fresh ingredients and happy staff.

He sido un visitante bastante regular de panecillos durante varios años, la selección es aún tan bien como en cualquier parte de la ciudad, el pan son frescas, y el personal es amable, aún saben lo que me gusta y siempre decir hola, adiós y gracias, que es bastante raro en estos días. Los precios no han cambiado para sándwiches durante al menos un año y aún mejor pedir lo que quieres o no quieres que tener que comer lo que otras tiendas decidir son poner en el bocadillo. Mantener el buen trabajo panecillos!!

Previously an institution - freshly prepared sandwiches with generous helpings and friendly staff. Over the past few months the prices have gone up as rapidly as the portion sizes have gone down... as a previous reviewer remarked, nearby supermarkets, Pret a Manger and Greggs now looking like a better option. Very sad.

Used to be a good place to get lunch, however, for some reason the quality has gone down hill recently. No longer consider what they serve as being good value for money. Had a roast pork sandwich with, stuffing, which cost over £3 but it turned out to be cold pre-sliced pork and not much of it. Could have got sandwich of similar quality in supermarket for couple of pounds.

going here for 20 yrs or more - can't beat it in the town for a tasty sarnie - usually a queue - but always worth the wait - massive sarnies - great variety of breads and fillings - friendly staff - shuts about 3 tho - and is takeaway really - as altho there's a coupla seats - there's never room to sit on them - no connection to the shop - would heartily recommend

I've been going to baps for the best part of two decades - really well priced, fresh tasty food, friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend.

I go here every day for my lunch but it's kinda hit and miss. I always ask for a jacket potato (without salad) and I'm sure I get the smallest potato they've got! Surely if you're not having salad they should give you one of the bigger ones?

You would go a long way to find a better choice of baps for the price paid. Choose your bread...then choose from a very large range of fillings available (which includes some unusual items as well as many expected ones). I was pleased to find various varieties of cheese - not just the standard cheddar and other vegetarian possibilities.The cafe also serves jacket potatoes. I was extremely impressed on my recent visit and will definitely return for an inexpensive yet good quality, fresh sandwich lunch.

Both me and my work colleagues used to visit this store every day due to the great quality and range provided, the staff were great and very friendly. However over the past few months things have changed, I'm not sure what but the staff don't seem happy and the servings are smaller. One of the main reasons people used to visit was due to the regular staff and banter, but now things are flat and its lost the personal touch which made them popular, (there are now different staff every other day)I'm not sure if it is under new ownership or not, but if it is then the new owners really need to get to grips with this or they will find their new investment may not be such a good return.

By far the best lunch I have ever had, fantastic variety of sandwiches which were very tastry, plenty to go round there was also a good selection of both fruit and sweets. Excellent will defiantly use them again, they also provide individual sandwiches, their Brie and green grape superb . I have lost found out hat they can cater for any event, will certainly bear that in mind

There is always a queue outside the building which says everything when there are so many alternatives nearby. Food is fantastic and the service is just as good. Just try it.

Always provide a great service at a reasonable price when you need them. Use them for our business lunch lectures.

There is always a queue out the door on a lunchtime at baps and for very good reason. Not only are the sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads and cakes good quality they are also reasonably priced. I would recommend visiting baps for your lunchtime snacks and support a local business rather than going to any of the multitude of sandwich chains in Newcastle.

Micky's takeaway sandwiches are fabulous. They are always made fresh to order and you will find plenty of choices on offer. The service is always quick, so don't be put off by the queue outside, in fact you should take this as the guide that all the local workers come here at lunchtime for their food.Lovely staff and always a cheery atmosphere.

BAPS provided the lunches for our training course. The menu choice is extensive & they even labelled the lunch packs with names so it was easy to distribute. The bread (again a good choice) was high quality & they even 'tweaked' fillings for individual preference. I can see why there was a queue out the door one day when I called at around 12.00!

Been going to this place for over ten years and you can't beat the place. Great food and great staff is what makes this place work.

I've been going to Baps for 14 years!! I never get bored because the have so much variety. I especially like the winter menu as the soup is so tasty and its a different flavour everyday. They also a do 'Christmas Sandwich' Turkey and Cranberry on a bed of hot stuffing! Yum! If you haven't tried Baps... You should!

Provide a wide range of fillings and very well priced compared to other sandwich shops in the area.It's £3.50 for a sandwich, a bag of crisps and any drink. The sandwiches are massive aswel so you won't go hungry afterwards.

They also have a great range of cakes and savoury pies / pasties on offer.Truly great value.

This is the best sandwich shop in Newcastle and very reasonable prices. I have worked in Newcastle for years and it is the only place go for lunch. It is always busy and for good reason.

I quite like that Baps is fairly unknown, those in the know queue out the door every single day! Traditional style sandwiches with lots of fresh fillings and fresh salad (rare!). Brilliant place.

Fresh ingredients, nice buns, no processed wafer thin rubbish. Haven't found better cold sandwich in city centre, never tried bacon sarnie, to be honest don't know if they do them
