Recently refurbished. Looking fantastic. Under new management. Definitely worth a visit. Tom the new landlord is doing his best to turn it around. Go on, give it a go!

I came across this pub by chance whilst out with friends. It is very homely with a very friendly landlady. Sunday lunch was excellent and very reasonably priced.

Awful service, had to wait several minutes before grumpy barman served his friends first bothering to serve me, as an outsider. Very "locals" only pub

Ham&egg and prawn granary baguettes lightly toasted to perfection. Tasty beer. Small, pleasant country garden looking down to the quaint old pub . Friendly, efficient service. A sunny September day. What more could one want?

Popped in today to treat myself to a sunday roast. Well what can I say, the food was absolutely incredible. Good selection of different roasts available. I had the chicken. Perfectly cooked. Accompanied by a huge selection of vegetables, roast potatoes, beautiful Yorkshire pudding and homemade sausage stuffing. Yummers! Highly recommended. Thank you very much. I will be back again soon!!

What can we say, the food is very good and plentiful, cooked to a high standard. The staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. The pub is a homely place and definitely worth a visit. Looking forward to our next visit.

Karen & Glen & their staff are wonderful food was & is fantastic and entertainment was brilliant; Karaoke was a laugh had some great singers and not so good but was a great way to relax before the Christmas madness. Thank you all🍺🍺🍷🍷

My work colleague and I had a meeting in the stunning beer garden at this pub and we were blown away by the amazing service and selection of beers. The bar staff could tell we had not been to the pub before so went out of their way to ensure we felt welcome. We noticed that the pub had a wide selection of snacks so we had some peanuts. My word the quality of these peanuts is mind blowing.

So,, my internet was down no sport,,saw that the leathern bottle had BT sport. booked a table for 2 for Sunday, food and sport wife in tow. motogp starting soon,,to the bar pint of very cold cider, hmmm lovely. to my table facing my very own wall mounted T.V.. magnificent, wife arrives small wine soda sorted... order food starter white bait for me nothing for the wife. starter arrives and is fit for 4 people,, marvellous, what a treat crisp fresh fish,,cider, TV heaven. mains lamb shank and a beef roast,,seriously seriously if you’re hungry give it a try. in this comfy warm and welcoming friendly pub.. if you have room for pud try the cheese cake wife said it’s delightful..go !

This is a proper pub. Went to watch a friend sing otherwise would not have visited, however, very glad I did! Clearly a locals pub, and what friendly locals they were! Had a fabulous night, owners were great hosts. Eclectic decor which only adds to the charm. Food looked great, roper pub food and will definately try it on our next visit. Wasn't expecting much from the ladies loo, but it was immaculate! Great pub, great fun.

Had a lovely meal. Service excellent, warm welcome and very friendly. Very pleasant atmosphere. Clean and tidy with fresh flowers on every table. An all round very nice old fashioned pub.

I went on a wednesday because my friend wanted to play poker, I didnt play so sat at the bar. The lady behind the bar was lovely so friendly and the locals were great too. There was a french bulldog who was very cute and obviously a local dog treats were available. The Sunday lunches sounded wonderfull. Definitely worth a visit

Dropped in to this lovely pub without any knowledge of what was available there. There was a cheeseboard set out, usual practice on a Sunday lunchtime, and a very warm welcome. We ordered Sunday roast, portions were huge so go with an appetite Great meal, great price and lovely place to visit.

On a UK holiday from my home in Turkey, I met an old school friend of long ago and we stayed in the Godalming hotel which offers B&B.On our first night we needed a meal but had no car. No problem as The Leathern Bottle was al ost next door. We met Karen, who was very lively , friendly and helpful in sorting us a good meal. The next night we had eaten heavily with a local friend so just needed a light snack. The lovely manager willingly made us both tomato sandwiches! I am a. Egetarian with intolerances and we discussed our Sunday lunch in detail. Do you know, this lovely man actually went to the supermarket to buy kale and vegetarian pies which we so enjoyed with the Sunday Roast vegetables. It was delicious, as was the yummy desert. That night was our last and, as we had stuffed our faces at lunch we were not really hungry but we’re flying back to our homes a abroad next day so needed something. Our landlord actually used his own matprmite to make us delicious marmite toast!! JUST what the doctor ordered! Wonderful staff, really friendly customers and good food served with real quality of care. Big thanks to all.My only tip for improvement would be to please clear away the forest bark and create a paved garden outside with pretty tubs. I am a gardener, was one in UK and an enthusiast in Turkey, too! The Forrest bark is depressing and has a murky, unclean feel. The space there is supper, give it clean lines and sparkle and folks will love it. Do use this lovely hostelry! It is super!

This little pub in the countryside is an absolute gem. The waiter Jonny recommended some lovely options and provided great service. The food itself is delicious, I’ve been hanging for real chips and thought England was known for them. Well after being here a year I’ve finally found them, amazing.

Had heard good things about the food in this pub so decided to try it out for myself.So my daughter and I went there for roast on easter sunday.My daughter is a very fussy eater and they were very accommodating.Food was great.Atmosphere was great.Nice friendly little pub.Nice touch that children under 12 got an easter egg.Highly recommend.

good sunday roast (four meats avaliable) good selection of starters and puddings.Best of all mums got a free pudding bunch of daffodils and a scented candle, a lovely touch.So thank you to my daughter Karen for bookings us in and Simon for being a great host.

Six of us old friends regularly meet up for Sunday lunch in a pub somewhere.

Hadn't been here for a while, food, staff were brilliant- dog friendly too! Excellent local pub feel - good choices on menu. My steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely will be back!

Pasamos una velada encantadora. Beryl, enero y Rod nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos; estábamos visitando Guildford para un próximo evento de día y queríamos unos tragos y una buena comida de pub, que es exactamente lo que conseguimos. El momento en el que entramos por la puerta nos sentimos bien! Acogedor jardín en la parte trasera para los días cálidos y noches. Recomiendo totalmente este pub.

Traditional Local Pub. Lovely atmosphere, beers and food. The Landlady knows her stuff and makes everyone who walks through the pub feel so welcome!

Fuimos a pasar el día de la madre y todos los asados de carne de cerdo y pollo, también tienen una opción de pierna de cordero, que parecía igual de sabrosos postres que también teníamos eran encantadores. Tuvimos una gran comida que volveremos el domingo, ya que la comida es deliciosa y una gran relación calidad-precio. Todos los platos estaban servidos y presentados a un alto nivel. También muy impresionado con el toque encantador de una rosa para todas las madres en el día, pensó que era un gesto encantador. También sirven un menú de comida variada para la hora del almuerzo y cenas.

Had 3 real ales on when we visited yesterday. TEA! Surrey Shere Drop and a delicious American Pale Ale. Also craft beer Caledonian Coast. Excellent value food, dartboard and really friendly landlord, landlady.

We had a traditional Sunday Roast today. Good value, friendly service, nothing too much trouble for the staff. The meal was beautifully presented, good helping, extra roasts were offered. Traditional pub. also do it as a takeaway

Under new management (2weeks) welcoming landlord who is also the chef. Chicken and mushroom pie was to die for!!! Great veg, mash and gravy!

We called in with some friends on a Sunday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Traditional English pubs don't come better than this. Great choice of beers, ciders, spirits and wines. Good food with their Roasts supplied by local butchers. Lovely outdoor garden with fish pond. What really set this pub for us was the superb welcome from the Landlord and Landlady. Refreshingly they know how a pub should be run. They had plenty of time for everyone with the definite impression that they wanted us to feel part of the place. I've got no hesitation in highly recommending the Leathern Bottle.

My wife and I popped into this pub knowing it had changed hands, we had a meal starting with the Deep fried Brie, very nice, followed by the Rump Steak, wow! this was cooked to how my Wife and I asked for it and was probably the best cooked steak I have ever had, we will return again very soon too, if that is the standard of meals then I recommend to anyone this is the pub to go to.ASN

We used this pub on Friday last week for a sad occasion .i.e a wake . Rod and Jan the landlords were very friendly and instantly put us at our ease in the very cosy pub with a lovely fire blazing.I wont say we forgot why we were there but they made it more of a true wake and we gave my mother a lovely send off.Jan did a marvellous mixed buffet and certainly didnt stint on the quantity or the quality and it was very reasonably priced.WE will certainly go back for an ordinary meal very shortly.One again a big thank-you Road and Jan ably assisted by Natalie for making our day a lot easier.

First visit to this pub for many years. Received a very warm welcome from both the Landlord as well as the Landlady, who was extremely busy in the kitchen. Extremely reasonable prices, good home cooking. A buffet was presented free of charge to all the guests while the rugby and Leicester City match was on. Nothing was too much trouble. Well done guys, long may it last.

If you have got back to Farncombe after work, tired and hungry and can't be bothered to cook, you'll be very pleased to have a decent pub meal at the Leathern Bottle. Best chips for miles and a nice little snug to sit in.

Went here and loved the old style pub with great interactive staff. Food was home cooked and delicious, staff could not do enough for us. It is rare these days to find a traditional English pub, this one is a gem and we will be going back very soon

Stopped here on spec while driving through. A really nice friendly local pub serving good food and good beers. Furniture was a bit basic, but all in all a very pleasurable experience.

Loved the food great atmosphere very friendly including the locals, had a great time drink was very good and food very cheap and very well cooked. If in the area you must visit this pub! not far from the Godalming hotel we only stayed for two nights, wish we could have stayed longer and would have gone in this pub again, cant wait to go back and visit, this pub is a must. highly recommend the carling or 2,3!.a big cheers to Neil & Simon & all the locals had a great laugh, felt more at home than in our own local pub.

Needed a pub for light lunch before trip on the nearby horse drawn barge in the afternoon. The good reviews on trip advisor were borne out in practice. A friendly welcome and a menu which had items like omelettes and sandwiches which was just what we wanted. The icing on the cake was the charming small garden where we were able to sit by the lily pond and enjoy our drinks while waiting for our food. This arrived in a good time having been freshly prepared and was all we could eat such was the quantity of the well filled sandwiches and omelette and fresh cooked chips.Would certainly recommend this public house.I rate an estabishment by how well presented are the toilets well they get 10 out of 10 for that!

Arrived in Godalming seriously jetlagged and just wanting a quick inexpensive meal before heading to bed. Our landlord suggested we walk the 50 metre to the Leathern Bottle as he said other customers had been very pleased with it. We arrived early up there for dinner, and were able to sit quietly enjoying the old world atmosphere and the friendly banter between the local regulars whilst reading today's papers ( also supplied) and drinking a cider. We ordered early, and within 10 minutes of the kitchen opening, our food was on the table: the best homemade tomato soup we've had in ages. Having missed lunch and used to much smaller plate sizes, we had ordered a mains as well and a shared dessert, and the servings were so generous, we literally staggered out afterwards: but wouldn't have missed a bite! Our host is also the cook, and is clearly a man who takes pride in his work. The generously large beef and ale pie was made from scratch ( best shortcrust pastry I've had since my mothers) and the vegetables simple but plentiful and perfectly cooked.. as were the chips with my gammon. The small side salad with the gammon was again simple but fresh. Spotted dick dessert was steaming hot, light and fluffy and again, generous with custard, which my elderly Dad just loved. And all great prices, too. If you like inexpensive home- cooked food in a friendly cosy atmosphere, the Leathern Bottle is not to be missed.

Found this pub after searching on TripAdvisor - it had received very good reviews.Good points- friendly staff- very good tasting food - left satisfied!- varied selection- clean throughout- very cheap parking next doorBad points- dishes on menu were so random that it screamed at you that it was pre-prepared/frozen!- very basic appearance (just a normal pub!), so not ideal for romance or special occasions- came to £19 for two normal meals, one beer and one lemonade - maybe a touch too expensive for what it wasI'd definitely go back if I was in the area and passing. Though having said that, I'm sure Godalming has many more places that would feel more 'special' for the rare occasions that I'm actually passing through.

Little gem that must be checked out! Great food at seriously fair price... Best meal for £5 in the entire area! Great selection of wine - went with group of girls (25-30) and everyone loved it so much we stayed for a few more bottles & enjoyed the gorgeous garden! Please notice this isn't like any modern pub - it's old school but that gives it charm..Must see!

Small pub, great atmosphere, friendly staff and landlord. Called in whilst staying at the Godalming Hotel, made very welcome, not forgetting to mention Alan, my partners saviour, my partner forgot his electronic cig and would have been climbing the walls but Alan stepped in and saved the day or should I say night. Good pub, good friendly atmosphere,and reasonable prices on the beer and food, I would recommend this pub if you like an original British pub its small and cosy with a good crowd of locals who are very friendly.The landlady has recently passed away after running this pub for the last 30 years, but her son is carrying on the legacy that was left behind. good luck to you Neil.
