Leah's Bistro in Maidstone

Very friendly staff and impeccable service. Wonderful food and a menu offering great variety. Leah's is spacious and has great character, enhanced by the live piano playing. A fabulous place to eat - wouldn't go anywhere else!

4 adults and two children. Immediately noticed that our waiter was quite rude and impatient. Asked for our food order as soon as we sat down and when we asked for a couple of minutes, he huffed and said “fine, I’ll just take drinks then”. Found this rude but whatever, we ordered drinks. The waiter then proceeded to serve our drinks, some hot, over a 2 year old. As he passed a hot pot of tea across the table, he spilled some onto our 2 year olds shoulder. He wasn’t apologetic at all, simply commenting that it was “only a drop” before walking away without even saying sorry. We left without paying for drinks or ordering food. Won’t be going back.

Wonderful, quick service. Although we only ordered drinks and a shortbread the service was amazing and the drink quality was great. The decor was also really ascetically pleasing. I would definitely come here again.

I went to Leah’s bistro last Friday around 10:00 it was fairly busy we got served promptly and the waiters and waitresses were nice . The food came out in a good time slightly different times but wasn’t to long. Really decent English I had . We had flat whites and it was very good coffee . A good spot and one I’ve eaten in many times and never had a bad experience .

Lovely relaxing venue. The staff are very friendly and polite. We didn't stop to eat this time, but the food looked good. Will try that next time.

Absolutely horrible staff. Confrontational, unapologetic, gut-wrenchingly appalling behavior. The lack of respect and understanding has angered me to absolutely make it known how terribly ill mannered the staff is to everyone I know in the area.

The food was lovely, shame about the waiter who took our order. He was rude and most definitely shouldn't be working hospitality. The other waiter who brought out the food was very friendly (he had very short hair, slim).

The wife and I popped in for a quick lunch meal on a Saturday. The bistro was very busy and I ordered a ham and cheese toastie and my wife the bacon baguette. Coffee and tea ordered for drinks. In spite of the fact it was busy we did not have to wait too long for the meals so service was very good and friendly. Food was very tasty especially the coleslaw. Very reasonable prices. Definitely recommended.

Lovely cafe with varied menu, friendly service and not overpriced. We had a really nice lunch - jacket potatoes and a steak and onion pie. Piping hot, fresh and delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Called up to make a complaint about finding egg shells in my food and was told by owner nothing he can do about it I should just pick them out, then got into a argument with me and proceeded to say if I came into the shop he will smash my head all this because I found egg shells in the food I ordered from their shop

Had a chicken roast dinner. All very nice, but the chicken was rather dry and a little tough. Oh and don't sit next to the sink where the washing up is done else you might get a few splashes while you're eating. Other than those two minor moans a very nice looking, and clean place, with friendly staff.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour from owner called up to report finding multiple egg shells in food and he told us to just pick them out nothing he can do about it then proceeded to get violent and tell me if I come into the shop he guna smash my head disgraceful behaviour chilidish person shouldn’t be in this business if you can’t check your food or have customer service skills

Staff were friendly and patient. We had a roast lunch each which was served very hot, portion size were just adequate. They were amazingly quick at delivering our meal after order.

Went here today because of having 3 hours to kill after travelling by public transport and having an appointment The staff were very pleasant and the place is very busy ‘always a good sign We each ordered coffee which in our opinion is much better than Starbucks and Costa This place is a little gem so beautifully decorated and ‘very clean toilets another good sign and because we were left alone and not rushed in any way after having another coffee we decided to stay for lunch just a sandwich each but the menu is amazing so much choice and reasonably priced so will definitely be going back again It was not a problem getting anyone’s attention when we were ready to order and it is a place that would make you feel really relaxed and comfortable if you were a lone traveler and had time to kill I would highly recommend and will be trying more of the menu the next time when I travel on my own

Had breakfast here twice with my wife, including this morning. Great service and fantastic food at reasonable prices. I was not surprised to see it packed out even at mid morning. Great menu with my wife ordering a small breakfast and eggs Benedict for myself. All the ingredients seem really good quality. Highly recommended!

Really nice atmosphere inside, very comfortable and something just a lil different. All staff were really friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food was fantastic and came out quickly. I'd highly recommend and will be coming back in the not so distant future.

I went to Leah’s bistro today after reading reviews as I was shopping in Maidstone I ordered brie bacon and cranberry toastie was so much cranberry I could only eat half the curly fries were so hard they actually cut the roof of my mouth the only nice thing was the chai latte a waste of £13 would definitely not go there again

Cannot fault this place, service is always top notch even when they’re quite busy. The food is, I cannot stress this enough, the best in Maidstone, I’ve eaten at every breakfast place in this town and this tops them all. From the breakfast to the lunch options they’re always made with some TLC. EDIT: google won’t let me put more then 1 review up so I’ll just keep editing this one 😅 tried their caramel frappe today, really really nice, nicer then Starbucks or costa for sure. Again cannot fault the service or food as usual. Still the best place to eat in Maidstone. (My photo taking is under par) doesn’t do the food real justice)

Friendly enough staff went there for breakfast, breakfast was clean but unfortunately bubble was poor (running not solid potatoes) undercooked egg and cold sausage, very disappointed and £12 for breakfast expensive for Maidstone

Love, love, LOVE this place! The food is always excellent and high-quality, and the variety is huge, not just in the menu items themselves but the options available within each of them - I think they pretty much cater for everybody. On many lunchtimes they have a young man come in to play the piano in the window area of the cafe, which is a lovely little touch of live entertainment. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is relaxed but vibrant. The place never less than half full, which is a testament to its (well-earned) popularity, so it pays to get there a little early for lunch if you want the best seats!

The food and service is always good here and it's always busy. It's nice and relaxed and somewhere I feel comfortable going to alone.

My husband is registered coeliac and its always difficult finding somewhere "safe" to eat.This place is amazing, the choice of gluten free was fantastic the service outstanding and the toilets sooo nice and clean. He chose egg ham and chips and i had ham,chicken and leek pie (also gf even though im Not ) WOW !! If youre in the maidstone area go to Leahs bistro well worth it .

Gives the impression of being slightly up market but do not be fooled. Ladies serving us were generally friendly but owner lacks basic manners/customer service skills. Complaint we raised about food not taken seriously and told we should have said something earlier. Very dismissive and not apologetic at all. Certainly will not be returning or recommending.

Visited Leah’s Bistro for the first time today and had a lovely lunch! Lovely music from a local pianist accompanied by delicious food was the perfect recipe for a calming lunch, which can often be difficult when dining with the kids. As well as the calming music, my experience was made memorable by a gorgeous waitress with beautiful silver nails. She attended to my kids, who can be a handful eating out at times, and made us feel so comfortable and welcome. Would definitely recommend! (Especially if that fantastic waitress is around x)

A lovely almost European style cafe in the middle of Maidstone. Great food and drink. I particularly recommend the American style pancakes and cappuccino. Friendly staff. Always busy on a Saturday and Sunday morning so come early.

Stopped for breakfast and glad we did. Nice place but nothing fancy, same for the food. All good hearty stuff that’s reasonably priced. Lovely coffee and milkshake too and so much choice.

Wow, what a little gem of a place. My friend and I visited Maidstone as we were staying locally. Service was outstanding, food delicious and such a beautiful setting. I had the Hummus and Avocado salad - it was beautiful. My friend had a brief and cranberry panini with chops and ir was lovely, plenty of Brie etc. I decided to take home some Muffins and Shortbread, which was well received and totally scrumptious. When we visit next time, we will sure be paying a visit. Thank you ...x

Very nice breakfast worth the money

My first impression was not a great one due to being met with dirty plates on empty tables all across the restaurant. The food was of low quality, the chips weren't even warm, the rosé was undrinkable and had to be disregarded, the salt mill fell apart during use and ended with a pile of salt and plastic and spring components on the plate. All in all a fairly disappointing experience considering the potential of such a wonderful venue. The place needs to be run with professionalism, pride and love. It isn't.

Just an amazing place to eat in Maidstone, kent… Definitely worth a visit if you live in Maidstone or if you’re just visiting…. You won’t be disappointed, I have been here so many times and food is always amazingly tasty, hot and served with care… the team members are fantastic, always so courteous and friendly. It has a special decor touch that makes it, an unique and special restaurant, it’s a must stop here for a meal place, no matter what time of the day it is… Keep up the excellent work and well done everyone 👏👏

Booked a table for six by telephone at very short notice. Although restaurant fairly packed when we got there our table for six was ready and waiting for us. Very pleasant lady showed us to our table and handed out menus. Plenty to choose from for all our tastes even though age range in our party went from 15 to 80. Reasonably priced including special roasts for OAPs. Prompt attention and service. Food excellent and plenty of it. Teas and coffees and alcoholic drinks. All good save that 23 year old was not happy with her cocktail - the price of this was deducted from the bill without quible. Would definitely go here again and recommend to others.

We visit for lunch probably a couple of times a month. We go there simply because it does what it is supposed to do in an adequate form. It's nothing really special, but neither is it awful. It's just, sort of OK. Food is edible, but there is no love or passion put into it when it arrives on the plate...it's just all a bit- meh. The owners and some of the staff are the biggest let down for me.....none seem to have much of a personality. If they do, they keep it well hidden. No greeting, no smile, no small talk. Rarely a thank you when you pay, or a 'see you again soon' It all seems to be a bit of an effort for them to serve you, and you feel a bit of an inconvenience to their day. No one comes over to check if all ok.......that's fine. it's not a restaurant, but as it's table service you would expect them to come over to check if you have finished to remove plates, and at the same time, maybe ask if you want anything else...even another drink??? Trying to get more drinks by getting the attention of staff is an art in itself......and when you do it's all seems a bit of a faff. A solid 3 stars.....right in the middle really (can't award 2.5 stars) Not bad, not good. We aren't particularly loyal for that reason.......but we could be with some improvements as mentioned.

Lovely and delicious food. I had the Leah's veggie breakfast and the bubble and squeak was amazing! So busy in there as well.

I ordered from here on deliveroo and the food was maybe 3/5, not great, not terrible. I recently met my friend actually in the café - it looks charming to start with and we sat down and ordered. Upon closer look, the menus and floor were filthy, the chairs and sofas are old and tired - this place really needs a revamp. As soon as our drinks arrived we were swarmed by fruit flies - literally could not leave our drinks for a second without swatting. The food was bad, dry and rubbish. The only good thing about the meal was the coleslaw which was surprisingly delicious and the only redeeming feature of the whole place. I would avoid until this place cleans up - I dread to think what the kitchen is like.

Open early for breakfast, and service with a smile

Food was very good. I am gluten free and they had plenty for me to choose from. Been here twice more and had different dishes both had plenty of flavour.

Planned to have a drink & cake with my daughter and son but ended up having just a drink. I ordered a slice of carrot cake and two muffins all of which were dry so didn’t eat them. I explained this to the waitress and she very kindly said she would take the cakes off the bill. The small hot chocolate, vanilla milkshake and diet coke came to £11 which I felt was a little high. Didn’t think much of the decor at the back of the bistro. Won’t be returning I’m afraid.

Busy place for coffees and food , which is not a surprise as they do good food and coffee. Decent prices and nice and clean . Popular with the senior crowd . Having coffee and cake and a catch up and couples having all day breakfasts . Service could've been a bit more snappy considering the amount of young girls working . Found the air con unit with a plant on it quite amusing .

Cannot fault this cafe. Been here so many times for breakfast recently and the food and service has always been excellent. They are so accommodating and friendly. They also have such a varied menu and the food is always delicious, highly recommend the pancakes and egg florentine. Also the staff are always so kind to the children and are happy to make slight adjustments to make things easier with the little ones. Absolutely love it here and will be back again very soon

I have loved Leah's for years and previously written a positive review but my last visit over the weekend was very poor. My order was incorrect, only by a minor thing so just left that, but the meal was cold - like it had been sat waiting for the rest of the table order. Staff were quite rude I would say and dismissive; we visited near the closing time and they had obviously had a long day but please don't treat your customers with contempt as it's not cheap to eat anywhere these days. I've noticed this before in this cafe, the food and service is just not up to standard later in the day. I was virtually sneered at by one woman at the till and the other taking the payment didn't even make eye contact. I won't be going back for quite a while as there is lots of places to try, who would appreciate the business.

Not the best Sunday roast I've had - beef was a bit chewy and gravy very watery, but it came quickly and staff were very good

Not from the area came here due to the good reviews. Very disappointing eggs are snotty sausages full of gristle, the hash browns taste like they were cooked in last years oil! Avoid at all cost!. I did speak to staff but was sneered at for doing so.

To be fair I've only been in a couple of times for a coffee, and it's been good but I have had takeaway from here via the Just Eat App and it has been delicious. I do recommend the fish pie. The veggies were just right.

Christmas Dinner with youngest daughter

Cannot praise the cooking enough. The Turkey, Ham and leek "pie" was delicious. The pie was GF and turned out to be potato with a cheese topping. It came with four veg : peas, carrots, cauli and broccoli. What more could you ask for? There...

Nice atmosphere, food and staff was pleasant. The problem at Leah's is usually the temperature of the food but not this time. We had Leah's/Luke's breakfasts, which for £10 each is good in the area. Appreciated the homemade (I think!) bubble and squeak. Was served...

Food as good as ever but why do the uber drivers take preferance, waited ages for our food. Totally spoiled the experiance. Shop customers should come first.

Great little café - even a piano player!

We ordered the mini breakfast and the children had blueberry muffin, fruit scones with jams, poached eggs and smoothies and iced teas to drink. Everything was delicious. I also had an Americano, that tasted freshly ground like I haven't tasted in a while in restaurants....

Popped in for breakfast before we went to visit my brother. Pretty quiet when we first arrived.,but the place filled up a bit. The waitress was polite and took our order. Not to long to wait for the food, it was nice and hot. Will...

Some of the staff were a little dour. My food was tasty but the others in my party couldn't say the same. If you wanted to sit at the front of the shop with a coffee you would have a good time. Otherwise be wary of what food you choose.

We loved this place from the moment we stepped in. Friendly and attentive staff. Lovely food. I had the mini breakfast and it was the perfect size and very tasty. The other half had the Mediterranean breakfast - really enjoyed it. Would definitely go again....
