Had a takeaway meal on Sunday 18th Aug. At around 18.10 5 x meals to include two king prawn dishes that was quite pleasant. We had two butter chicken dishes that was served up in a pale pink sauce, not only did it look disgusting, with no taste to it, I’ve been eating Indian food for nearly 48 years and have never been served up this slop in all that time. Needless to say, both dishes were binned.

I can’t help thinking that this place is relying rather too much on its past legacy and older celebrity endorsements, Time for some reinvention and focus on a few decor / furniture updates and service improvements maybe, it’s a bit tired. That said it’s very good indeed in terms of food taste, quality and presentation (the most important). The welcome was great and we were immediately shown to our table. Recommend: Prawn Puri, Scallops, Chicken Tikka, Beef Madras, Okra bindi, Roti, and sublime Ice Cream specialty, the presentation of food was good too. The service otherwise was ok….. Even better if; the order taking was less transactional with some suggestions from the waiter (to be fair another waiter did with the next table). The thing that really irritated us was the constant refilling of glasses the in elegant / turning over of the bottle with a load clang and our waiters reaction to us declining a second bottle of Chablis. One of us had a glass of something to get him away from the table. We had a really nice bottle of champagne at home and didn’t want to chug the wine at Le Raj as it felt we were being encouraged to do. Will go back, but might handle our own wine consumption / pouring. Look forward to trying some of the dishes other waiters recommended to the tables around us.

I will put my hands up in the past we have had okay food here. But last night, what we devoured was sublime. 6 of us asked for them to bring our taster starter...omg...it was lovely and soon polished off. We then chose our main courses. Everybody commented how lovely their food was. I genuinely believe The Raj have got their magic back. We will be going again. The staff were friendly but not over bearing. I cant say we were quiet. Though I guess the sign of the times is how quiet it was in there.

This isn’t like going to your regular Friday night curry house. If you want something different and more authentic, I recommend you give it a try. The ambiance, food and staff are exceptional. I can’t wait to go back sometime soon.

We had a takeaway for three people and all three agreed that the meal was a disappointment! The popadoms had not survived the journey and were all shattered. The meals were all very average and lacking in flavor, the murg jalfrezi bore no resemblance to any jalfrezi I have had previously and lacked flavor. We all opted for medium strength which was mild at best! The onion Najee’s were greasy and overcooked. For a restaurant with your reputation the only thing that passed the test was the packaging used for the delivery even if it didn’t keep the popadoms intact!

Always exceptional food and service and always a must every time we’re in Surrey. Some of the best Indian food we have ever had. We treated the family to a meal for Easter which went down a treat. Everyone was impressed by this hidden gem in Surrey.

I have no complaints about the quality of the food. The front of house service however was very poor. My napkin had two holes in it. One waiter thought that a prawn dish was vegan! He did not seem to understand that was impossible. We had to ask for serving spoons and cutlery since the waiters did not notice we needed them when they brought the main course. Our coats were handed back by their sleeves not the back of the neck with no attempt to hold the coat and help us put them on. One waiter in particular was quite surly and seemed to resent being at work. Considering the cost of the meal and the restaurant’s reputation I expected a lot more. I will not be returning as these issues somewhat spoiled what was meant to have been a special celebration meal.

We have eaten at Le Raj several times - on our own and with friends - and the food, presentation and service is always excellent. It is also the only Indian restaurant we order takeaway from. We've been happy customers for several years. Highly recommended.

Given the marketing on the website, I was expecting excellent things. The menu also was very appealing. Sadly the dishes fell far short of the hype. The food was average and there are much better Indian restaurants in the Sutton - Epsom area. The service on a Saturday evening was also sadly poor and chaotic. Long waits for food and no cutlery once the dishes arrived. The tables are also crammed together, leaving little room for a relaxed meal.

We use Le Raj every week because the food is fantastic along with the Service, best Indian food we have had, have been using this Restaurant for 20 years, and we highly recommend a visit or Takeaway

Should have spotted the number of reviews where the reviewer has just reviewed the Raj. An old trick to keep the overall review ratings up. Visited on a busy Saturday night. Arrived at 8pm and had our starter delivered at 9.30. Service was very poor . Couldn't fault thd food but took an eternity to be served. Expected a bit more especially as price wise this is top end.

Yesterday I and some of my friends went to LeRaj for dinner.This is one of the best Indian Restaurants I have ever visited.They're very welcoming.The level of service is unparalleled and the food is beautifully prepared with flavours that dance on your plalate.Specially, I can't foget my main dish the "Kata Gosht".Special thanks to all the staff.

The food is clearly outstanding, however the service is not! The table service was not very attentive, when they eventually arrived they only dealt with the individual requests for additional drinks and not everyone at the table. One of the main courses was missed and when we brought it to there attention they ‘laughed’ and thought it funny!! I think they have got very complacent with their reputation?

It was Saturday, a very busy evening for Leraj to be honest. And we had a table of 12 people. In short, amazing experience. Their food and service was 100 out of 100. Apart from that, the curries were delicious and the best naan bread I've ever seen. Very big and tall. Size. Hope to see you soon Leraj.
