Le Bistrot Pierre in Torbay

We always enjoy a visit to the Torquay Bistro and today's lunch was as good as always. It was a miserable day so the restaurant was just ticking over but that ensured we able to have a table in the window to enjoy the lovely sea view. We will be back.

Great food, stunning views, excellent views. I particularly liked pork medallions and not sure about presentation of frit fromage. 3 courses in under 90 mins felt a bit rushed or was it over efficiency.

Great restaurant with lovely views from the first floor dining room. Nice food but not all made by the on site chefs. Excellent front of house service, the whole team are really well trained. Too much printed clutter on the table.

Lizzy our server was great- friendly and went the extra mile! Some of the other staff seemed like they’d rather be anywhere else and weren’t very welcoming. Food was mostly excellent- the steaks and halloumi burger were great. Some of the beef in the bourguignon was a bit tough and not as tender as it could’ve been. Quite a few dishes unavailable. Would definitely visit again!

Such a wonderful place our server lizzy was so helpful and sweet. This is my third time at this place and I really love it I highly recommend the rump and sirloin.

We had the Sirloin Steak and the Duck for mains and Gambas and scallops to start. For afters apple tart tartan and chocolate mousse. Every bite was sensational.

Great place to eat. We dined here on our last night in Torquay and we were so glad we did. The food was DELICIOUS. Thankyou Lizzy for the service provided, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

Nice location, lovely views, but only one star as my 20 quid beef bouginon was very poor, quite a small portion with only 6 or 7 small poor quality bits of beef in it. Consisted mainly of carrots and far too many onions. No crouton as appears on some of the photos. Feels like it was probably the last bit left in the pot. Very disappointing to say the least. Complete waste of money.

Love this place when in Torquay and the addition of The Perch is a great idea. Food and drink always good but have to mention Kieran whose customer service and attention to detail outshines all the other staff, including managers!

We ended up going to Bistrot Pierre after exploring the Torquay harbour looking for a reasonably priced restaurant with our dog. I wish we had gone straight here if we had known how good the food was and that it was dog friendly! The set menu was well priced, 2-course £20.95 and 3-course £24.95. Our meal (red pepper & tomato arancini, chicken fricassee x2, crème brulee and dark chocolate mousse) was absolutely delicious, full credit to the chef. Fantastic flavours and presented extremely well. The service was also very good, well done to Igor (highly professional and friendly) for bringing water for the dog and generally looking after us throughout our visit. The venue, with great views of the harbour and split across two levels) had a cosy feel to it and even had an outdoor fresh seafood bar next to the restaurant. We were very impressed with our visit to Bistrot Pierre and would recommend this to anyone looking for great food and service while in Torquay.

Exceptional location, interior design is just off peak fashion.... I think the kitchen was having a bit of an off day when we went last, but the view never fails.

We had a lovely evening at Bistro Pierre. Great atmosphere and lovely sea views. Our server, Lizzy, was great - attentive, friendly and efficient. Set menu was good value. This was our second visit on our holiday and we’ll no doubt be back.

Such a great place to eat. We ate there twice in our visit to Torquay. The food was delicious and good sized portions. The service was excellent, the staff checking in to make sure we have everything we needed. I would recommend a visit without a doubt.

On booking, I was told there should be no problemgetting a window seat wigh view, as my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and her birthday. We got there in plrnty of time when still quite empty. We were greeted by a young man who was quite curt and a little impolite. He said we could not have a window seat as other people might come in who were celebrating , and all wi dow seats were set up for 4 people. ( at this point in time all window seats were empty) as the evening progressed, two of these tables were occupied by two people only. We were given a table where all i was looking at, was the top of the stairs, the till point, and the toilets. Not what we were looking for , for a romantic anniversary. We were highly recommended this establishment by a chef friend I work with , who is a regular customer of yours, who is now also disappointed. My wife alsk spoke to the young man too, but he stood his ground. We both had the crispg duck a'lorange, but the skin was soggy and falling off. The orange sauce had the consistency of water, not how it should be, and I did not feel I could complain to this young man as he was not very helpful or welcoming to us. Our final bill was £118 for the two of us, and we left extremely unhappy with our experience.

Came here on a Wednesday evening with a group of 7 of us for a birthday. Pre-booked but was a quiet evening. The food really is excellent, recommend the Beef Bourguignon! The portions are a little small although adequate but is more quality over quantity. The grande Calamri dish was tiny though I had to double check it was the large version, for £15 I expect more than ~6 pieces of squid. The service is great and is a relaxed chilled vibe with a great setting inside and with the views, The service could be a bit faster and more attentive though especially considering there were only a few tables that evening. only been to another Bistrot Pierre once in Plymouth for a works pre-order and didn't think it was anything special but this one has sparked my interest and I would go back to experience it during a busier period for the atmosphere and the interesting dishes on the menu. it isn't particularly cheap but there are deals to chose from which are great value if you are on a budget. very nice Zinfandel wine also! got myself searching for it online.

A go to for Birthdays and occasions as the location and view is superb. The food is always consistently enjoyable and there are always people in the restaurant even mid week so not sat on your own eating.

I love this place, it's relaxing, the food is tasty and it's exceptionaly good value. Lizzy made the evening a pleasure, thank you.

We intended to go to Pierres for coffee and cake.. they were quite busy but there was a free table.. we sat down briefly only to be told the table was reserved and they were full.. No signs anywhere.. saying Full or reserved.. There was a board advertising their food by the door but not in front of it.. we left and went next door to Costa.. 40 mins later we passed Pierres to see empty tables. !!! Not amused as 2 of are disabled..

Called in for a beer, a great pint and outdoor seating at the front over looking the sea. Great friendly service, enjoyed my visit, will be back sometime.

One of the best breakfast I’ve ever had and I’m fussy . Fantastic choice , all fresh , beautifully presented and prepared. Super waitress who was very attentive and helpful. Loved the surroundings and view of the bay . Excellent value for money , hot drink fruit juice included with the good menu offered £13 . When we went to pay it was £10 each special offer until the end of march ! Wow wee what a bargain. Thank you !

Good food in small chain french style bistro.ate well in a friendly atmosphere and superbly looked after by our waitress kizzie.

Have been here many times, food is generally very tasty, staff pleasant and amazing view while you eat. Went last Sunday with my daughter and we had the 3 course special, my starter (calamari) and my main course (pork medallions) was the usual excellent value for money. Very tasty, but oh dear when my dessert came what a disappointment! It was described as sticky toffee madeleine with ice cream and clotted cream. Firstly it just came with ice cream (I can live with that) but the dry excuse of a madeleine with a spoonful of sauce I cannot get past, it had a weird hard lump at the base of the sponge and was the driest sponge I’ve ever tasted, I expected the madeleine to be soaked in the toffee sauce. It felt like they ran out of desserts and made it up at the last minute. I didn’t complain as a) my daughter was treating me and it felt awkward complaining b) they were very busy (nobody checked back on our desserts). It won’t stop me coming again but hopefully this will disappear from the menu by then!

Thursday evening. Amazing Food and Good Service with an amazing Restaurant Setting. The highlight was the food. We had the Valentines set menu which was superb. Steak and Beef dishes were exceptional.

A lovely venue with a great atmosphere. We sat upstairs and enjoyed a view of the bay whilst eating French Onion Soup, deep fried Brie wedges, half roast chicken and fishcake nicoise. The food was delisious, well cooked and nicely presented by friendly and helpful staff. We were so full unfortunately we couldn’t manage a pudding! Will definitely be back.

I booked a table last week, and only to find out on the night we arrived that our booking wasn't accepted, but lucky for us lacey made our beautiful night happened. Food was amazing and I am so grateful that lacey saved our night, honestly lacey I really hoped you enjoyed your drink 😘 xxx

I would like to start by saying that the service here is exactly how it should be. Very professional with an excellent understanding of their job and their guests. Unfortunately the food wasn't great. I was particularly excited that the Soup of the Day was my favourite French Onion but sadly this was short lived. It had a rather peculiar taste to it and I spent more time fishing sprigs of Rosemary out of my mouth. Eventually I gave up as I wasn't enjoying it. For my second course I ordered my meat medium which came rare with no supporting steak knife leaving my arthritic hands in an increasingly painful mess. I gave up. The Sauce was nice. The lady that served us who really knows what she is doing and is an absolute asset to this business offered me a free dessert having recognised the cooks mistake. I took the Winter Berry Tart and it was fabulous. Very tasty. Would I go back, yes as everyone has an off day and the service was superb.

Amazing Dinner by the Bay. The food was delightful and the service attentive. The tasting menu was very imaginative and all the courses were cooked and prepared to perfection. The young lady serving us was really proffesional. All in all a lovely evening

We descended on the place without warning, about 40 of us on a Saturday afternoon in January and had a fabulous time. The staff coped so well and the drinks were fantastic. Been here many times chiefs changing all the times food is okay first time the food was absolutely amazing ..but chief have been left News in.Service ..probably need more staff as we waiting for 15 min someone to clean the table ..The atmosphere was very nice as we sat in the balcony .I would said need pay more attention for services.

My husband and I had lunch at bistro Torquay yesterday, it was a lovely day and opted for a table on the balcony. So far so good! We gained access to the 2nd floor as usual via the lift as we need a blue badge for parking on the main road opposite. When we left after our meal and attempted to go back down on the lift we were informed that it was out of action. I cannot use stairs and my husband had to help me on a precarious descent ia the bridge over the main road with fairly shallow steps. What began as a pleasant day out become the opposite. We determined never to return which is a pity, we'd joy French cuisine after living in SW France for 20 years, though m uband was not impressed with his Beouf Bourgignon .

This weekend, my partner and I joined my parents for a gorgeous meal at Bistrot Pierre in Torquay, what a treat! Nestled right by the water, the venue boasts a cozy, French-inspired ambiance with stunning sea views—perfect for a relaxed, indulgent evening. We opted for the £22.95 3-course set menu, Starter: I began with a baked Camembert paired with caramelised plum, chutney, and sourdough—so creamy and indulgent! Main: Pork Medallions served with seasonal greens, dauphinoise potatoes, and a rich red wine jus. The flavors were perfectly balanced Dessert: A velvety dark chocolate mousse topped with honeycomb sprinkles and cream (not pictured because I couldn’t wait to dig in!) After dessert, I asked the waitress if she could make me a Dirty Martini (even though it wasn’t on the menu). She kindly obliged, and I had it made with vodka, olive brine, a hint of olive oil, and topped it off myself with a sprinkle of black pepper. —it was exactly what I’d been craving all week. A wonderful evening of delicious food, great company, and beautiful views. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Torquay!

A fantastic Christmas evening! The food was great, I had the salmon pate and the Turkey roast dinner. The service was efficient and friendly thanks to our waitress Megan. We will definitely be returning soon!

Had a reservation for four this July at 12 noon. They sat us and we waited for 15 mins for our orders to be taken. They told us that a group of people is booked for our table at 2pm so they will move us to a nearby table by that time. Starters and mains arrived more than half an hour later and at exactly 2pm they asked us if we can transfer to another table!! They were really expecting us to finish the food we ordered in less than thirty minutes and the place was not even full!!! It was supposed to be a special day as it was my relative's birthday and was visiting from up north but it just ruined their experience in Torquay. Ended up having food and drinks in Visto Lounge, a restaurant next to this place. Please avoid!!!

We have been here often but our last visit was tarnished by really poor food, steaks were like a bit of Rubber and the normally well crafted dauphinoise was really bad and super dry. My veg was burnt and not to mention we waited for 45 minutes before dessert was served(that's the wait between finishing main course and dessert to arrive) the restaurant was not even at full capacity. Will think twice about returning especially i have reviewed my experience and had not even an acknolegment from management. Customer service is slowly disappearing

We never got to eat... but no option to leave zero star for food and zero for service! We arrived about 10 min early for our booking at 6. 45pm on a Monday. Really hungry and looking forward to eating here. A lady greeted us on the lower floor and informed us we would be eating upstairs. We got to the top of the stairs and waited by the till.. A few tables in but not that busy innso much as the tables in already had food on them. A lady came over and said we will just need to wipe table and then you can sit down. We were then taken to a nice window table. We looked at the menus and were pleased with the choices... Although not a large menu with 10 mains and a couple of specials nearly all of them appealed to us. We waited for someone to come over.... And waited... And waited... And waited.... There were 3 female servers floating around..all oblivious to us.. We weren't in the corner tucked away we were in the middle of the window seats... One decided to move glasses around in the bar and then a chit chat with someone from the kitchen... Another chat to customer a couple of times ascshecwent into kitchen.. And the other just fiddling around with a table layup... So we sat there thinking surely in a minute someone will come over... But no.. Gave it another few mins... (now almost 25 min! ) and I said to my partner "this is going to be a first.. I think I'm going to get up and leave...." (i did consider asking for the bill as a joke... But didn't 😂) Even when we got up and went put on our coats on nobody came over... Astonished we slowly walked towards the stairs and down to leave... Even down stairs the lady there said nothing.. So i walked over and told her we were leaving because since we came in 25 min ago no one had been bothered to come and take an order? I also told her that i wouldn't be surprised at the place getting bad reviews with such poor service and to be honest no apparent manager... I also said to this lady that we have a restaurant and staff had put some money tonus to pay for a nice evening out... We were very disappointed... I hope a manager responds to this and perhaps makes an effort. We left and went to Ephesus where we were greeted with smiles taken to a table presented with menus and after quick decisions (because we were now really hungry) we had drinks within couple of minutes.. And lovely food followed also swiftly. 👌

A lovely restaurant in a prime location we loved the sea views, food and décor, but what made our experience memorable was Abi our server she went the extra mile which is rare in hospitality these days, we will be returning thank you

Lovely pre theatre dinner tonight before going to see Elf. Abi was great and looked after us really well. We will be back.

We have been visiting here for a couple of weeks and really enjoyed it , but unfortunately we arrived last week and my husband went inside to order our breakfast while I was sat outside and he was told it was table service and somebody would be out to take our order shortly, we waited 20 minutes and others were being served before us. Finally a lady came over and we told her how unhappy we were and she told us they didn’t do table service so don’t understand why my husband was told to wait outside for table service which we have had in previous visits. We left without having breakfast and very disappointed ☹️

Nice looking restaurant, good waiting staff, but the food wasn't great unfortunately. Parts of the dishes missing and replaced with something else, or not replaced at all, a chicken dish was meant to have crispy skin, it wasn't, and was pale and floppy, the food in general was very bland and tasteless. It was almost like the roast chicken had been boiled not roasted. A lack of seasoning on everything, this was the 1st time ever that I've had to put salt on a meal when eating out, and in fact the salt pot was passed around a lot. A great shame really, I was expecting better.

Excellent service from Lizzy. The food was ok, it was the service that made the meal. As the view of the bay is so good it is a shame they don’t clean the windows each day as part of the cleaning regime.

We were welcomed on arrival and quickly taken to our table. Abi soon appeared and provided water whilst drinks order was taken. After perusing the menu, we opted for the BP options, thoroughly enjoying baked Camembert, beetroot felafel (so much nicer than it sounds) pork medallions, rump steak, chocolate mousse and a single malt Throughout Abi was attentive, offering advice and making sure we were enjoying the dining experience. I had high expectations based on the appearance and prices, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. The coffee I received was watery, with burnt milk, and when I returned to the bar, I noticed the machine's wands were dirty. This lack of basic hygiene and barista skills is concerning, especially for those with dietary needs or preferences. My sausage brioche arrived plain, likely because my oat milk coffee led to the assumption that I had a dairy allergy rather than a preference. This was puzzling, as there was no concern about the brioche, which typically contains dairy. A bit of communication could have easily prevented this misunderstanding. As a result, it was quite dry. My sister's granola and yogurt suffered from an imbalance, which was another disappointing aspect to our light bite. Although I've read that dinner might be better here, I expected more given the prices. I found myself wishing I had chosen Costa next door, which I vowed never to spend money there again. It was a shame with the location being so ideal, but with better staff training it has the potential to improve significantly.

Excellent autumn menu. Had the feta starter, onion tart for main and panna cotta for dessert. Brilliant service from Lizzy. A friendly smiling face! Can’t wait for our next outing to Pierres.

Very smart interior with great sea views upstairs. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. But the dining experience is always enhanced by the quality of the service - and there was a win here , in the form of Lizzy, who was friendly , helpful and attentive to our needs. She is a star performer.

Well, what can I say. The food was good, well prepared and presented, everyone was very happy and the food costs were actually pretty reasonable. Drinks were a little pricey but within the realms of reality for a restaurant. Now the service. BOOM! I sent a cheeky request for some fuss to be made of a relatives birthday and they absolutely knocked the ball out of the park, balloons, happy birthday signage, even sang happy birthday when his desert arrived complete with candle; the embarrassment levels were exceeded by a country mile (he secretly enjoyed the fuss I think though). A special mention to Conner and Abby for the amazing service and welcome, you really did excel yourselves. A great team and good food - well worth a visit, evidenced by the place being full on a rainy Tuesday night. Well done.

Went for the first time Saturday evening. Never again. Service was non existent, food was poor at best. Our starter was cold and the main meals were not much better. The waitress was not interested, we had to ask to place our order and again when we wanted another round of drinks.

Such a same, because last time I visited I had a great experience, but this time the food was awful. Soooo salty!! Made it inedible, on complaint to the manager the explanation was that the food comes in all ready made???? Weird!!!! and unfortunately there is nothing they can do. Not what I was expecting at all, please come and visit this restaurant Gordon Ramsey!!!! Surely every should be fresh here, at least that is what I was told to believe. I am never going back

Great service and great food. A quiet night in the restaurant but the atmosphere was lovely. I had what was in English chicken and chips but the French way made it amazing. Lol Whoever supplies the chicken should be commended because it actually tastes like chicken. Sounds daft but it tastes like the chicken I eat as a child. Our waiter, maitre d’ was great and really sold the place. Next time we’re in town we’ll be eating here. Tres bein

Bistrot Pierre holds a special place in my heart as I have always gone for an occasion. This Pierres is wonderful as the views are lovely if you eat outside. We had the set menu 3 course meal. It looks small but don't be fooled, it's filling and delicious!

Booked here for me and my husband for an anniversary meal. Upon arrival the waitress clearly couldn't be bothered. Gestured towards a table and said your table is there pointing. I said what that one to which she replied yes, I will bring you menus in a minute and walked off. We seated ourselves and waited for our menus. After 15 minutes still no menus. Not one member of staff acknowledged our existence. The waitress who greeted us was making drinks behind the bar and was taking food orders out. Still no menu. I gave it another 5 minutes and got up and left. The restaurant was not particularly busy and we felt let down. We decided to book here as have been several times and have always had good service and food. Will not be returning again as could have potentially ruined what was supposed to be a special occasion. However went somewhere else and had a faultless meal and service.

Food was extremely poor well undercooked chicken I.e still had blood in it chips were also cold will never eat at this place again thank you for your reply but as I said in my review the food was also very cold and undercooked as a ex breakfast chef I know when food is cooked right .

Called in on the off chance of getting a table as I’d forgotten to pre book. The waitress was lovely and got me a table in the window with a stunning view. All the staff were brilliant and friendly, taking my order promptly with drinks arriving quickly. My starter of Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast was quickly brought to the table and it was absolutely delicious. Soon after my Bistrot Burger arrived and it looked amazing; it tasted even more amazing 🤭 It was all perfect and very filling; no room for dessert. Can not fault the food, staff or the restaurant itself, highly recommend, but remember to pre book 🤭

My visit to Torquay was made extra special due to this outstanding restaurant. The food is simply delicious and very reasonable considering the quality. What makes it such a brilliant experience are the very attentive staff and I have to give an extra special mention to James, nothing is too much trouble and he deserves some personal recognition from the owners. I hope this happens on my behalf.

Absolutely stunning meal at Bistrot Pierre - definitely recommend the boeuf bourguignon. The location of this restaurant is beautiful and made it feel that bit more special. We were seated quickly and given time to look through the menus. Service was fab from start to finish. Food and drinks arrived in very reasonable time we didn’t feel rushed to leave. Highly recommend.

Will not return food terrible portions cold and not much crembulie very small loaded with sugar no crem up all night being sick waste off a hundred pounds will not ever recommend

Recommended to us from our B&B hosts, we are very glad they did so! It was busy but they found us a table. Restaurant very dog friendly and there is plenty of space around tables for the dogs. Food and drinks itself was excellent, came out promptly, good quality, perfectly cooked and well priced.

Instead of Diet Pepsi the guy on the counter gave me a regular one so please be careful. Also, instead of cider same guy poured beer. Be careful. At least the terrace is nice.

What a wonderful place to start the day! Super hospitable staff with great sense of humour, stylish interior with a clear view of the bay. We had the garden breakfast as part of a deal with a proper coffee and juice. Very reasonable and the food was excellent. Perfectly poached eggs and decent GF bread. We came here on a hot sunny evening and had a great time the food was really good. My wife had the Seabass and i had the steak frites with garlic butter. Sebas was nice and fresh and presentation was nice and modern. Steak frites was cooked perfectly and sauce was tasty. Def recommend

Booked Waited for our seats for people to just walk in Plenty staff however tables not cleared in a timely manner a lot around us used to Our table was mucky but I just put a 10% discount card over Mushroom soup tasted like potatoes tbh Overall great presentation but dirty tables and slow service let it down It wasn’t busy

joke off a place 7.30 empty and said full and bloke said only me and ny mate on. wow
