Absolutely stunning meal at Bistrot Pierre - definitely recommend the boeuf bourguignon. The location of this restaurant is beautiful and made it feel that bit more special. We were seated quickly and given time to look through the menus. Service was fab from start to finish. Food and drinks arrived in very reasonable time we didn’t feel rushed to leave. Highly recommend.

Recommended to us from our B&B hosts, we are very glad they did so! It was busy but they found us a table. Restaurant very dog friendly and there is plenty of space around tables for the dogs. Food and drinks itself was excellent, came out promptly, good quality, perfectly cooked and well priced.

Instead of Diet Pepsi the guy on the counter gave me a regular one so please be careful. Also, instead of cider same guy poured beer. Be careful. At least the terrace is nice.

What a wonderful place to start the day! Super hospitable staff with great sense of humour, stylish interior with a clear view of the bay. We had the garden breakfast as part of a deal with a proper coffee and juice. Very reasonable and the food was excellent. Perfectly poached eggs and decent GF bread. Woukd heartily recommend and definitely going to check out the gastronomic soiree! Bravo, good work 👍

We came here on a hot sunny evening and had a great time the food was really good. My wife had the Seabass and i had the steak frites with garlic butter. Sebas was nice and fresh and presentation was nice and modern. Steak frites was cooked perfectly and sauce was tasty. Def recommend

Booked Waited for our seats for people to just walk in Plenty staff however tables not cleared in a timely manner a lot around us used to Our table was mucky but I just put a 10% discount card over Mushroom soup tasted like potatoes tbh Overall great presentation but dirty tables and slow service let it down It wasn’t busy

Service to be fair was good - but the food was really awful quality and not very well cooked. We ordered 6 meals and all were really poor. This is the second time in a month after giving them another chance - never again.

This turned out to be a busy mid week lunch which neither the staff nor the kitchen could cope with. Starters were ok but there was then a 45 minute gap with no explanation or apology, or offer of further drinks before the main course arrived. We both ordered the fish cake nicoise. The fish cake was flavourless with no obvious chunks of fish. The potatoes were partially reheated. The salad was poorly chopped pieces of lettuce, beetroot and red pepper with no dressing whatsoever. I had around 20 olives - my wife had one. Plus a poached egg. Again, no offer of further drinks at that time or later (the waiter disappeared very quickly) and nobody came to ask us how our food was. Once we had finished we had to go to the counter to pay as we couldn’t get anyone’s attention to get the bill. Looking at previous reviews this does not seem like a one off. We won’t be returning.

What a find. Lovely location, great food and service. Highly recommended! We will definitely be back next time we're in Torquay.

We had Sunday Beef lunch. We can't fault the food it was amazing, the service a bit slow, seemed to be short staffed. But as a regular we enjoyed our drinks and views to die for.

Beautiful view, delicious food. The service is terrible! We sat - no one approached us for half an hour. We asked for cutlery, because we were served half a baked chicken, no napkins, no cutlery.

Harry is always friendly and helpful and makes excellent coffee. Bistrot Pierre must be in one of the best locations in Torquay

Had an incredible meal here. Staying in Torquay for a few nights, and took a fancy to the restaurant as we walked past it. Incredible service from our waiter, Kheifa (might be misspelled), who was very friendly and polite with us. Meal was delicious - we had the Pork Medallions and a Steak. The Pork Medallions had an incredible flavour to them. We very rarely have desserts when we eat out, but we made an exception for this restaurant and it was worth it. We had the Sticky Toffee and the Panna Cotta, both of which were as incredible as the rest of the meal.

We were on holiday in Torquay and went for our last dinner here. The food was excellent… there were some things that could have been better: 3 different people asked us for our drinks order (better than no one!); it took quite a while to realise they were out of stock of the wine we ordered; we were offered an alternative that had clearly been kept in a warm room (white wine) with no warning before it was served; two different starters came to our table, neither of which we had ordered; when ordering pudding we ordered a dessert wine with it - the pudding was on the table warming up for a good 9 mins before they said they didn’t have the wine. They have everything they need to be exceptional: venue, view, and food. Everyone was lovely, but some staff training and awareness of current stock would go a long way to improving the overall experience.

lovely views but the food and service fell short. some of the food was overcooked/burnt, no apologies from the waitress, she didn't seem bothered. such a shame. the other guests in our b&B were also complaining about the service. love Bistro Pierre and have always had a positive experience in their other restaurants.

Enjoyed a fantastic lunch here in June 2024. Staff were awesome, helpful and attentive the whole time. Food was fabulous, we loved everything we ordered. Great location looking over the beach. It can get a bit windy on the balcony so we sat inside, but with the big glass doors we still got the sunny summer atmosphere. Prices higher but not ridiculous, I'd highly recommend trying if you are ever close by.

I ordered the "roast chicken" with crispy skin , but what I got was a lump of grey/ beige chicken that looked, & tasted boiled, & was so bland. The salad was a handful of wilted salad leafs. Disgusting !

I took my mum here for a treat for the sparkling breakfast (we had bought a Groupon, and reserved a table beforehand). It was a real treat because we were greeted warmly on arrival and shown to a lovely table inside. The gentleman who served us was knowledgeable and helpful about Gluten Free options for my mum, which is always welcome and quite unusual for it to be so effortless, compared to some other places that have no clue). Our breakfasts were really delicious and beautifully presented, and the coffee is fab. The ambience and decor is lovely, too. I will definitely return. The staff were so nice and the food was great. It was my first time to this bistro and I will be back again soon.

Popped by for a drink- despite sitting very close to the bar and no customers in sight- app wouldn’t let me order without paying an ‘optional’ charge that couldn’t be removed- took my service elsewhere- had planned to stay for food and meet friends but I refuse to be charged for no reason- always a red flag. No thanks.

the food was outstanding and the service was great. Read some negative reviews so we were bit concerned going but, I can honestly say top class evening.

Visited on Monday 17/6/24 and on Wednesday 19/6/24. When we go away we like to eat at a different restaurant each night. We were only in Torquay for 3 nights. Monday night fabulous service and food. We visited a nearby restaurant on the Tuesday night-no greeting or any smile- food okish So on our final night we went back to Bistro Pierre- same as Monday night fabulous food and service despite the guys on duty being short staffed. Isabel,Lucy and James were on duty. I didn’t get the names of the team on Monday evening. All I can say to the owners is look after these guys they make the difference from a good experience to a great experience.

Had dinner here tonight with friends. Food was absolutely appalling. My roast chicken was undercooked with soggy skin. My wife's chicken parmigiano was overcooked and leathery. We will not be returning.

Very disappointed food certainly below average would almost compare to quick micro waved food service next to nothing had to go to the till to pay the bill as trying to get someone to our plates was unfilled really drinks also below par tasted waterdown cocktails unfortunately wont return or recommend

I don't know whether it was where we were sat, as we were sat in the corner on the balcony, we felt as though we were last to be served all the time. Took 45/50 mins to clear starter plates. We were there for nearly 3 hours and had 3 courses it wasn't particularly busy. We asked for the bill and overheard her say she'd forgotten about it. When paying we didn't pay the discretionary service charge and the waitress huffed at me. We were going to leave a tip on the table. Nice one JUDY! your name is on the bill.

Absolutely chaos today. I wish i could award 5*'s. There was Just no organization at all. This events happens every year. We Appreciate it's the annual airshow but why don't they staff up -plan - get organized. Q'ing to pay bills. It spoilt our experience..... who in this day and age puts there hand up to get a waiters attention. We've been at our table 2hrs and only had our mains. I actually walked up to the manager as no one was interested in taking our dessert order. The manager just said we are really busy and you have just had your mains to which I replied that was over an hr ago. No one came to take our dessert/ coffee order until I walked up to the till. I see tables loads of empty so how is this busy. Food was delicious and the waitress that initially served us had to go on her break hence why we were neglected for so long. Late lunch booking 4pm. I'm sorry but I'm usually the first to give 5* but service fell short this time.

Despite a bumpy start (a less than smiley welcome and very weak cocktails), the experience wasn’t all bad. Warm and friendly service from our (short dark haired woman) and decent food.

We sat on the balcony first where it was difficult to catch anyone’s attention. The happy hour cocktails were diluted and quite disappointing. We then moved inside for dinner, it was busy with many tables arriving at the same time. Food vas average, except the gambas starter which was excellent. The fishcake salad was a let down, very poor leaves and only one French bean. Poached egg was flat and overcooked. No dressing at all, it was quite bland. The lovely views of this restaurant are a big plus and probably make up for the shortcomings in quality.

This was a lovely place to visit whilst we were on holiday in Torquay. The food was excellent although could do with portions being a bit bigger. Food prices not unreasonable but drinks expensive. The overall experience was very enjoyable.

Went here for wedding anniversary on Saturday. Amazing restaurant with top notch food and service. Food was amazing, the creme brulee was the best I've ever had, really creamy. All the food was tasty, well cooked. Was little disappointed as when I booked I requested a table near window overlooking the sea and was seated further in. But apart from that we had lovely evening and will definitely return when we are next in torquay.

Well unfortunately for us it was a terrible experience and we shall not be going back.. it's such a shame as we have been to plymouth many times and to the coventry one once. However this experience was terrible we are a young couple with child we were treated like second class to everyone eles even when it came to our bottle of experience white wine every table that had a white bottle had a ice bucket but not our table. Both my partner and i felt we were treated differently to the rest of the customers we have never been treated this way at other locations or even other restaurants. We work hard for our money and run successfull business we always tip well but as a result of how we felt we had been treated differently to other customers we did not sorry to kitchen staff but front of house let you down. One thing I will add the sticks you use for olives and chorizo are very fibrous and my ruined my partner experience even more we still trying to determine if she has a splinter stuck in her throat if this is the case we will be in touch immediately but certainly worth noting.

Booked ahead for the 3 course easter menu £27ph, disappointed that there were no roast dinners available at 3pm on a Sunday - Easter Sunday despite a pre-book. Our hot starters were cold and all substandard (see embarrassing photos ). The manager swiftly agreed to allow us to leave without paying and was very apologetic. Im only sorry that this appears to be another failing chain.

Had the meal complet for breakfast. We had some meat and vegetarian dishes and everyone was very pleased with their food. It is excellent value for money and the food was delicious. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

An amazing place with amazing food. Dined as a family of four adults, a seven year old and a toddler. Children’s 3 course meal for £1 because it was half term! Our meals were excellent value for money and such good quality. Two or three course menu choice included a drink. Staff were attentive, polite and fun. A seafront setting made for an a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

We had the sunday roast yesterday which was a bit disappointing. Beef had a lot of grizzle on it & broccoli was warm, potatoes cold & needed cooking more as not at all crispy roast potatoes. Jodie was rather rude when we paid with a gjft voucher, was not happy to add points & very rude about it. Don't think i will be visiting again very soon, very disappointing visit

We had a delicious meal last night. I had the calamari followed by the fish cake with a soft poached egg. Both were expertly executed. Due to the popularity the atmosphere was buzzing. The service was understandably a little slow but the quality of the dishes were well worth the wait. Thank you, we had a superb evening.

FANTASTIC I work for a local charity Age UK Torbay and we were donated 30 meals for our older vulnerable clients. We were offered a 3 course meal and a drink for all. OMG from the minute we walked in we were welcomed, polite, friendly and just great. Especially Conough, he was amazing and made everyone felt welcome and nothing was too much bother. The food was outstanding. There wasn't a bad meal in sight. Inhad the calamari, burger and crem brulee and it was mouth watering. Many of our clients who don't go out often and have never been have said it will be a place they will visit again. THANK YOU. All photos Shared have been agreed.

If you go to Bistrot Pierre outside the busy meal times the staff look after you quickly. They are helpful and the food is good. Out of peak hours the space has the atmosphere of an old brasserie in Cannes or Antibes.

Great food and service. They were doing a special menu for a reduced price, and it was great to see that they had not removed their best dishes. When we went there, Torquay had amazing weather and this place really does benefit from this with the view. Definitely recommend this place and the quality of the food is always the best.

Three of us celebrated my daughter’s 18th today. I would like to thank the chef for amazing food and the staff for making it an extra special experience. Courteous, kind and thoughtful staff.

This was our first visit to Bistro Pierre but my father who was with us had been many times before and had lovely meals there. Sadly not today. We had booked a table in advance. We were sat downstairs as the upstairs restaurant was closed due to maintenance issues. The three waiters were very friendly and professional but it became obvious very quickly that there was a problem. The room soon filled up with many people coming in off the street for a meal. One of us had a starter which was served about half an hour after ordering, with our main meals served just over an hour after we arrived. One of the main meals was hot and fresh out of the oven whereas the two tagine meals were only warm, couscous was minimal and dry - very disappointing indeed. We decided not to wait for dessert as our two hour parking slot was nearly up. We discussed our disappointment with one of the waiters who admitted that they were struggling as they had not expected so many customers after a very quiet week. He was most apologetic and was aware the restaurant had fallen well short of their own standards. Very kindly our bill was adjusted as a result and we appreciated this gesture. Perhaps whoever was in charge should have foreseen the problems and restricted the number of customers walking in off the street so that they could keep up their usual high standards with fewer customers. We will return but the visit today was an utter disaster and very disappointing. We were aware that other customers had similar issues.

Perfect for a post-christmas lunch.

Awful service, booked and paid £20 deposit for new years eve 4 course meal with champagne on arrival. Took about 20 minutes to get champagne and after another 20 minutes had to go and find someone to ask if we could order another drink while waiting for bread and olives. Waited ages but finally managed to order a drink. Asked if we could have the bread but it never arrived and neither did the drinks. Very poorly organised and very inexperienced staff. After an hour we left as didn't want to pay £70 each for such poor service. Totally ruined the night and was too late to eat anywhere else. Really disappointing as was really looking forward to it.

I think that’s it for me now - 7 / 10 times I go back and it’s the same old story of bad food, bad service, over booked beyond what they are capable of handling. It’s Like a bad relation ship that I just need to finally accept & accept that this isn’t the one and never will be. I could on bang on about what makes this place so bad but I’m just too numb to it now & I think I need to do some deep inner work to finally stop getting caught in the same trap. Well and truly done guys. Awful 👍

Food was excellent but the service wasn't good! Sat 10/15 minutes before someone came to take our order, only 4 tables were occupied. Cannot fault the food. Still waiting for the dessert menu, although another member of staff came and took the order. Waited at the till for about 5 minutes, a customer was talking to the waitress who had given me the bill and another member of staff ignored me!

Had Christmas Day lunch here 2 years ago and it was very good. This year wasn’t a patch on the last time we were there. The Turkey was dry and there were 3 roast potatoes and some mushy sprout concoction with a couple of charred pigs in blankets. It was very disappointing at £80 per head. 2 of our party had fillet steak which they enjoyed. The staff were very pleasant and obliging. I felt sorry for them having to serve a Christmas roast that resembled a frozen meal for one from a well known freezer shop. It’s a pity as the venue is great, but I’d sack the chef or whoever is supplying the ready meals. I won’t be returning next Christmas Day.

Friendly staff and exquisite food

We had a wonderful Christmas Day lunch yesterday at this lovely restraurant. The food was delicious, decent sized portions and well presented. The restraurant atmosphere was wonderful the festive feeling was very much there. The staff were working very hard whilst remaining in good spirits and service worked like clock work. Nobody seemed stressed. I highly recommend this restaurant. I have been several times now and they definitely nailed Christmas day! Thank you 😁

Didn’t have any steaks available or turkey or a few starters, booked online for a bottle of wine to be on the table when we arrive, nothing there, potatoes were like they’d been left out for a while and only 3 on a plate , nice view n atmosphere cocktails were good , bit of a let down though

Very disappointing, the food was only warm not hot and the service was very slow being left 20 minutes before being seated when we had a booking was ridiculous then another 20 or more minutes to get drinks and 40 minutes to get bread which we had to ask for. I will not be going back

Only eat here if you are not hungry and have 3 hours to spare. The food was the only saving grace at this place, the mussels were great and the salmon. However sorely disappointed as when we arrived early for our 715 pm booking, we were sat at a high table and told somepne would get us when our table was ready. I think how harried the one who "welcomed" us looked should have been our sign to expect less but I expected too much and thought surely at the very least we would be offered a drinks menu so we could kick off the evening w a drink at hand but this wasnt the case. Another couple waiting were offered free drinks because their table was at 7 but by 725 still no table. I was hungry and thirsty and looked for someone but all staff seemed busy and not concerned. So I walked to the bar and the brunette said this was the best she could do, send someone over to get our drinks as they were so busy. Alright but why take our bookings? 740ish we were approached that our table was ready, to which I raised my eyebrow as there was a dirty tissue by my chair. The staff didnt seem to realise. I kicked it away later. We sat and ordered drinks. Drinks came and were served by a nice gentleman w the first real smile we received and the starter of mussels came and we were hopeful the night would improve but our mains didnt arrive till at least 845 pm. Fish was tasty but the beef was overcooked. Edible but not as tasty as hoped. We didnt get dessert as I was too disappointed and the service received here was one of the worst we had in England. They took off the discretionary 10% service charge from the bill when we paid but we didnt get any other apology for late seating and late mains. Look for another restaurant. I suspect the staff here are overworked and it reflected on the dismal service provided by the ladies. the men who served us were fine.

We were visiting Torquay and we thought it will be lovely to try french food. Made a reservation to the restaurant beforehand. We arrived and the table wasn't ready. We were told to sit by the high chairs and it was very fine for us. 20 mins passed, no one seems interested to look at us , empty tables ( dirty and not cleared) and not even a menu offered. The wife asked if we could get our table or a drink . Rudely, she was told , we are doing our best . No apologies and of course it is our fault. You looked around the atmosphere was just dull and a couple told us , they waited 30mins to be seated. The young ladies serving did not seem to care and happily were ignoring. Because we complained about getting no service, the staff pleasantly gave "I can't wait to see you guys go" attitude. Very cold and arrogance all the way . Food took for ever to come and no one seem to be around when needed. For a moment, not a single staff was on the floor. We arrived at 19.15pm and our main course was served just before 2100pm. Not a single staff came to check on us knowing very well we were unhappy and frustrated. We also booked for the restaurant and not to be at the bar. The young staffs inexperienced surely prefered to leave empty tables dirty all night. Even the floor was messy. Service was despicable and abdominal . Customer service training is badly needed. Food was nice and it is shame , staffs are willing to give their best.Was very disappointed ☹️ and angry . It was very awful to encounter an experience as such and it ruined our night. Never again and won't recommend it to anyone.

A shame really as food was nice but service was awful. Had a 3 course meal and was a wait about 40 minutes between each meal and drinks took 20 mins! Also a lot of staff chatting behind the bar giving each other massages when I'm a paying customer not wanting to hear and see all this, also a bit of advice ask for service charge and don't just expect it to be paid

We happened upon bistrot Pierre tonight as our booking elsewhere didn't work out. What a fortunate change of plan it was as the meal was delicious and the service friendly, relaxed but efficient. On a wet and windy evening the bistrot was warm and inviting and we were made to feel very welcome.

Have to admit, some reviews made me slightly apprehensive but we prefer to make our own mind up and so glad we did. We had the 6 course menu. Food was beautiful and tasty. Wine, excellent range both in price and choice. It was packed yet I applaud the staff! A very special thanks to "Pablo" and Jody!!!! You guys made our evening so much more so THANK YOU! So whatever reviews say, go, make your own mind up and remember people who work in restaurants are people, with feelings!

Food okay. Check out the two or three course set price choices when you go. They are on back of menu easy to miss them. They let dogs in at least to ground floor.

We booked this Restaurant prior to our visit to Torquay. Just before visiting I thought I would check the menu online to find myself on Tripadvisor. I read some of the recent reviews and it was with some trepidation we visited for our booking. However we were greeted promptly and politely being shown straight to our table. The service remained excellent as was the food. Any previous problems appear to have been remedied and we will have no hesitation in returning.

What a wonderful Saturday lunch. Looking over the bay on a sunny winters day, we enjoyed some fabulous French food. The Cuvée 22 red is delicious, lightweight but full of flavour, the fillet steak was cooked perfectly (rare) and the haddock was absolutely banging. We had two of the delicious chocolate cocktails, we could’ve had another 3 each, and our desserts were sublime. Isabelle is an excellent server, she obviously enjoys what she does. Thank You also to the GM Alan for making our visit special. Thank you all, we will definitely be back.
