Le Bistrot Pierre in Derby

Great service, the lady duty manager served me and my partner today for our lunch visit. Swift service for the drinks. We had the chorizo to start which while a small portion (even for one, though we shared it between us) was perfectly cooked and flavoursome. I had the Pork Medallions (again beautifully cooked and with just the right amount of the accompaniments on the plate) and the truffle fries which, although tasty, came rather floppy and pale. My partner had the Pierre Burger, juicy, packed with flavour and the truffle fry upgrade made for a perfect lunchtime meal, although his fries suffered the same slight undercooking as mine. Service throughout however was excellent from the aforementioned manager and the gentleman in the grey polo neck (sorry I didn’t catch names!) so compliments to them and the chefs!

I've been here before for lunch, which was really enjoyable. However, the Saturday morning breakfast was just disappointing. The chef clearly didn't care. Do that at home if you must, but not for paying customers. There were many things below par with it. Won't be returning on a Saturday so as to avoid that chef's shift again. The service was great though.

Saturday night (last night) had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great. The food was top class. Service was excellent. Couldn't fault it. I had the Calamari sea bass, apple and plum tart with white wine and a coffee to finish. My partner had onion soup, Normandy chicken and the apple and plum tart. Would recommend. Service was so friendly it just made the evening. Thank you for a great night Bistro Pierre!

My dish was well presented and tasty…I had the fish cake.However I had a rotten potato on my meal and asked for it to be replaced…it was a very small portion of potatoes! I got another solitary potato with no butter and it was flowery! As a gesture of good will two or three potatoes would have been welcomed! I also don’t like a service charge to be presented on the bill.Otherwise a reasonable experience.

We had a lovely visit today for Sunday lunch, Carla provided great service and my free drink for my birthday was a lovely extra to enjoy with our meal.

I always used to say “you could never go wrong” with Bistro Pierre. Sadly, not the case tonight. I’m not going to go into huge detail, but the food was so poor. Cold food and elements most definitely reheated to an inedible state. The waitress was a nice girl, who apologised and took one of the main courses off the bill and a small discount from the total. However, no Manager came over to chat to us about 3 main courses being a quarter eaten. Surely, this would be a red flag that they would want to address? One of our party had visited only last week and someone she was with had to return her fishcake, as the accompanying poached egg was frozen!! It’s just not good enough and such a shame. Sadly, I won’t be returning ☹️

Great find, recommend by a friend. Excellent quality at a reasonable price and close to the city centre. Something for everyone.

Gastronique evening disappointing. Starters of French onion soup and mushroom pate tasty and presentation good. Mains of coq au vin - quite salty, steak chewy and tasteless. A wait of 3/4hr for dessert and that was with a reminder! Plum tart absolutely delicious then another lengthy wait for cheese and biscuits. Coffee ordered another 20min wait with yet another prompt required. Booked at 6.30......left the restaurant 9.15 . Restaurant was busy but plenty of staff milling around- 3 tables around us arrived after us and left before us 🤣. Not sure we would return

The last time I went in December, I was very disappointed as some of the food was overcooked and items missing. However, this time was really good. Excellent service and ensured that we had everything we needed. The only thing that could have improved things is for the 10% service charge to be removed - it is embarrassing to have to ask for it to be removed and we would have preferred to tip at our discretion.

Probably the best food in Derby. Superb menu, great beer and service. Well Recommended.

Lovely afternoon tea with my soon to be daughter in law.

We had a great visit today for a girls catch up, we had starters and mains that were great value for money, the Brie and calamari were delicious and the sea bass was worth the money. The steak frites was tender and very flavoursome and the alcohol choice is great. Carla was very attentive, kind and helpful and made us feel really at home!

I'm sorry to have to leave a poor review this time. We visited Pierre's on new years eve 2023. The food was about average but the service was appalling. We arrived at 15.00 to be greeted by a pretty cocky waitress who thought she was funny but we found her a bit rude. We waited for about half an hour to be served our first drinks in the meantime we seemed to have been forgotten about while other tables were looked after who came in after us. We were in there for about 3 hours which was way longer than we had anticipated. We had to prompt the waiting staff for more drinks and food. Just not good enough considering we like to visit about once every couple of months as our treat. We really hope Bistro Pierre Derby gets back to it's original superb customer service but on this occasion we're really disappointed.☹️

Very helpful staff, who very kindly, relocated our party of 7 down stairs instead of the first floor due to access reasons. This was despite having a very busy evening with Christmas bookings. Morgan managed our table and was very professional. Our drinks and food all came together and was beautifly served. Our food was excellent. mains and desserts. There were only compliments made about the meals. the decor atomsphere was perfect.

Regular items from the Xmas menu were excellent, but without fail any item that cost extra was a let down, worse than what those who ordered the normal dishes received. Strongly recommend diners to stick to the a la carte, because those were very good.

5 of us went for a 79th birthday and were left disappointed with both the food and the service . One of the dishes was the rump steak, this had to be sent back due to it being impossible to eat and very rare when medium rare was requested . 25 minutes later it was returned. Needless to say all the other meals had been eaten, so we had to watch the birthday girl eat yet again a very tough steak . Following this we were given sweet menus . 25 minutes later we still had the menus but our waitress had gone home and no one else picked up the service. We asked for the bill and left . We were not charged for the steak and a bottle of wine as compensation . But the whole reason for eating there was to have a great experience a birthday to remember of which we didn't get ... . Not again I am afraid ..

We had our wedding meal upstairs here on a Friday afternoon and we really couldn't fault it. The food was all excellent. 43 empty plates told the story. The service was fast and extremely friendly and all our guests said how great it was. They organised everything good we wanted it to a T.

Terrible. Large group of us All food pre order. Nothing arrived at the same time. The waiter swapped the vegan dish as he had given it to the vegetarian! Drinks when ordered didn’t arrive. I could go on oh yes the party was split to seat back to back. Food was cold. No one complained as we didn’t want to put a dampener on the evening.

First time here , atmosphere really cosy , staff very attentive good service , food was average , especially french onion soup was nothing like the original soup wouldn't order that again.

We had a steak with chips for a small supplement. There was a lot of grisle and fat on it. The sticky toffee pudding we had for desert was nice. It is a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere, but seemed to be a lot more expensive than last time we went. Also we used to love the French stick bread which was free with your meal, now it is different bread and you are charged for it which I think is a bit cheeky.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal, served by great staff, in a comfortable restaurant with a great atmosphere. Six people and I'd have happily eaten every different dish on the table. What I did eat began with various nibbles then mussels to start, chicken Normandy and creme brulee. We drank the XX11 Cotes de Gascogne which was delicious.....all in all, a great visit.

I was served this salad. I asked for a fresh one because it was brown. The waiter took it back to the kitchen but then brought it back because apparently the kitchen said it was fine. I guess it was fine but very very far from fresh. Is this the standards of Bistrot Pierre?

Superb as ever. This is one of our go to places. For many years it has been consistently good. We have the smoked haddock, mash and poached egg today for lunch and it was lovely. The atmosphere, steady stream of regular customers and friendly waiting staff are a testament to their standards and capture of the market! Went for a birthday lunch and had the steak bavette, full of sinew and it was inedible. Apart from then having the sticky toffee pudding ( delicious) and almost breaking a tooth on a date stone, both the food and service was good.

Not practical with wheelchair, especially doors and access to toilets, didn't help with leaking radiators in corridor. Latte served lukewarm when asked for extra hot. Didn't warrant 10% service charge. Overall disappointing

Super meal and evening. But having worked for many years in hospitality, the waitress service definitely needed upping . The girls were all lovely, but like most places these days , lack efficiency , we were forever trying to attract their attention , to order initial drinks , to order food , more water , the menu for dessert, more drinks... a real shame , particularly in view of the cost , I'd really hope for better service.
